Thank you so much for your post #76. That did work perfectly. I had

since I didn't realize that a full description of the driver was needed.
I just had nvidia-current with nothing else in the apt-get install line
Bruce,
Amir,
I've had 4 machines with NVidia drivers. One is fine with the 295.40
driver. One is fine with the nouveau driver, including 3D. On the other
two machines the nouveau driver will only work in 2G. The nouveau driver
seems to have different capabilities with different versions of NVidia.
.
Successful work arounds were posted in this thread. Also, it appears
that NVidia released a driver now to fix the issues. So far, I've
upgraded 11 systems. The ATI installs went beautifully!

Hi guys, I have some more info for you;
This problem messed-up my 3.2.0-24-generic and it will not boot.
I can only get into the system by picking previous versions and
3.2.0-23-generic.
So whatever the fix turns out to be, I need to install it from there.
THX!

OK Joseph, I did it and I got the exact same results. :-(
It did say something about 3 file that were not previously installed or removed.
Sorry, but I was unable to capture it. It did not name the files anyway.
But I am sure it was from an update before the one that contained
3.2.0-24-generic.
Woo Hoo!
I was able to capture it!
