I have 500 tapes that were used in an EDM (now legato) system. The tapes are hcart and were used by STK 9940_B tape drives. I want to use them in NetBackup. I have checked "allow media overwrite" for ALL available types listed in the GUI. (ANSI,TAR,DBR,RS-MTF_1,CPIO,AOS/VS MTF BE-MTF-1 )

We use disk staging in NBU 5.
dssu's have 2 stages.

Is it wrong to use software compression in a policy that uses a disk staging unit for the storage unit?
Will this result in slower migration or negative compression during the migration phase to a tape drive that uses hardware compression?
