Yes, I've got this too, which actually prompted me to find out the origin of the sample, perhaps it was sampling Staceys track? (313) 240 Volts [Swayzak]
Below is some press-info clipped from a recent Forced Exposure emailer that should interest a few of you. I'm pretty sure Swayzak Rec. is located in New York, though. Wondering why they tagged it as UK. >> SWAYZAK (UK): VA: Two Hundred And Forty Volts CD (SWZ 002 CD). "Two Hundred And Forty Volts came together as a result of the Swayzak tours, where they were given material by acquaintances and strangers encountered along the way. It is an album compiled with a sense for travelling as well as listening. Influences are broad, yet echoes of Kraftwerk, Underground Resistance, Basic Channel, etc. Turns out 80s synth pop can be ideal for combining sounds from the past with those of the future. The first half of the record is pure analog -- no computers involved and a decidedly strong dose of electro funk. The second half of the compilation is a more digital affair, where warmth, depth, and melody flow from our more tech-oriented bretheren." Artists include: Swayzak, Roger 23, James S. Taylor, Betamax, Theorem, Dwayne Sodahberk, and Tavern On The Green. $18.00 VA: Two Hundred And Forty Volts 2LP (SWZ 002 LP). Chessie was an unexpected surprise, playing some extremely deep, atmospheric indie rock (if that makes sense) - kinda reminded me of earlier Seefeel. The earlier reviews of Kit Clayton's set were right on; very dubby and experimental, and the crowd actually responded well, which was very surprising. Iowa City was treated to a phenomenal live set from Stewart Walker back in September and he mentioned all the material for this performance would be new, so I was extremely excited. However, the whole set was very steady and (dare I say) accessible? I can't really say I was disappointed with it, but it wasn't at all what I was expecting. The production was top notch as usual, but the beat steadied after a while. I still loved at least half the set though. Another strange thing about the Iowa City show is that they were up late the night before, this being their third night performing in a row and Stewart opted to play second, with Kit Clayton going last. (313) WMC/Intuit/Marquis/Upstart
Folks, this is just for clarification. I've had a few folks ask me about seeing Marquis at the event that Intuit is putting on. THIS IS NOT DJ MARQUIS!!! Yes, there are two guys in Detroit named Marquis, who are in music, who have had some involvement with hip hop, among other styles of music. While the "Upstart" Marquis goes by the name "DJ Marquis", the "Intuit" Marquis goes by "Marquis". Nevermind that "Marquis" is DJing. Both will be in Miami, but again, they are two different guys. Re: (313) Clayton/Walker review
regarding the remarks on stewart walker's live set in detroit, he may have played a harder set due to the response he received on other parts of the tour. he played first in the line-up here in chicago, and threw out a set more related to his stabiles lp, with lots of subtlety, ambience, and dub (a set which i unfortunately missed). the crowd then got lost a bit during chessie's set, but started getting into kit clayton's set (which was great in chicago also) just as it came to an end. s.w. agreed to play another set, which turned out to be harder-edged, and it completely lit up the crowd, which hadn't _really_ danced until that point. most everyone was into it, yelling and the whole bit. not your typical 'experimental' show ;) so i could see why he might try that set out again. -dave

well i'm not a real big fan of him ..he causes some shady shht..but i've seen him in his store going through boxes of records sayin, the kids will like this won't like this and so forth..i've never been to impressed with his deeper jazzy house sets although when he does drop some techno his track selection is nice usually -stacey

(313) wilhelm k--not too shabby
well, we kinda like his sound..a little on the basic side. but he sure has some damn good mixtapes, and isn't too bad live, either. unfortunately he doesn't seem to play in SF too much because no one really knows his name. but he has put out some damn good mixtapes..kinda tech/disco...we like him.
