Re: (313) Octave One - Off The Grid 2xLP
I have this as well, just haven't played it that much, since I didn't mean to order this version. That's on me, but I still find it somewhat annoying that 12 and album have the same title. I must have been on something at the time, not to realize the price difference and or the format, again that's on me. I'll give it another listen this evening to see if those issues are present in my copy. The second reason I haven't played it since the initial ordering snafu, I already have these tracks and was somewhat disappointed to have these live versions. Now, this is a great introduction for the new generation of fans that witnessed their smashing performance at the festival or the other young bucks out there. But for the vinyl veterans like myself that already have a very complete collection of their material, this is just a nice souvenir. I might even just re gift this to someone else for the holidays. jw On Dec 7, 2007 8:22 AM, Chris Rooney [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: yeah i just wanted to confirm that there's some decent pressings of it out there before i get another. surely someone else on the 313 list has the latest Octave One album on vinyl??? everybody just downloading mp3s these days? -Original Message- From: Odeluga, Ken [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 07 December 2007 12:30 To: Chris Rooney; 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) Octave One - Off The Grid 2xLP OK maybe you got one from a duff batch. My 2c. hmm, yeah i am kind of concerned about this as well. its alright to have some tracks mastered like that as an effect, but it can really lead to a competition to have all music be as non-dynamic as possible. this happened to drum and bass with their mastering and that stuff sounds ridiculous now. why did DM go this way? tom

(313) Another Wild Kingdom Looms...
The playlist for last week's Wild Kingdom can be found at http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=29128. Not much there to see, as last week's show was assembled using a fist full of locked groove compilations from RRR Records, Serotonin, Staalplaat, and Syncom Productions, for the most part (never did get to those CDs). This coming show is another matter, with offerings from Generator, Kompakt, Brainiak, Rephlex, Cocoon, Serotonin, Super 8, Nettwerk, and more. The Wild Kingdom airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Saturday night/Sunday Morning, 12A-3A (7A-10A GMT). The webcast is at www.kfjc.org (follow the links). Present and past playlists are also archived there. If you're curious, you can also check out archived playlists from my first KFJC show Just Desserts that aired on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Playlists exist for that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve 1999/2000. If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promos and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events. Thanks to those who have sent promos so far.
