 Among the many artifacts on display at Exhibit 3000 — Underground
 Resistance's secret techno museum in Detroit — is a book enclosed in
 a glass case called Techno Rebels: The Renegades of Electronic Funk
 by journalist Dan Sicko. Our tour guide for the day gave the book
 props, saying he felt it accurately captured the essence and told the
 story of Detroit techno in a way few other books have.

 Sicko died in 2011 at the age of 42, having battled ocular melanoma
 since being diagnosed in 2008. Shortly after, Ghostly adapted his
 book title into a Detroit Renegade of Electronic Funk limited run
 T-shirt with all proceeds going to help raise money for Sicko's
 family.

 Fours years later, the Detroit Sound Conservancy has launched a
 campaign to create a special music journalism scholarship in Sicko's
 name, and Ghostly is bringing back the T-shirt to help raise funds.
 The shirt is now offered in black and indigo, and proceeds from all
 online sales will go directly to DSC.

 an anti-spam tech called DMARC and Yahoo's recent and strict implementation
 of it.

 DMARC is a system designed to allow domain owners to specify policies and

 bounces.  Not only that, but that Yahoo sender's mail bounces at Gmail and

 let subscribers know they're missing messages and why, and shouldn't unsub
 those users automatically, but it still causes chaos.

 but clearly we need to move off of ezmlm anyways.  I was hoping to be able
 to choose between a couple of them, but now that choice seems much more
 narrow (and not necessarily the best - Sympa was looking promising too).

 Anyways - I am sad that this is how things have played out, that I can't
 provide a quick resolution to this.  For now all I can suggest is asking
 youryahoo.com users to switch to another domain if they want to participate.
 But that sucks as an answer.  If anyone has better ideas (or
 programming/migration talent to contribute) let me know.

Nope, old SoundCloud used CDNs too. They round-robin between a few
different CDNs (at least on the new one), and if the CDN's edge node
near you is unreachable, then you lose!

Outburst and I tried every store I could find to no avail. Andrew
Duke tried to buy it as well and apparently Canada is out of bounds

Phoenix Landing in Boston in two days.


Never seen him live, and it's probably my last chance, but LTJ Bukem is 
playing the same night. Just how good is Stewart Walker? I've not heard a 
whole about his live sets, even though I dig his records.

Well, yesterday afternoon, I decided to see some questionable films.

The first was Irreversible, the one that freaked out everyone at Cannes because
of a 9-minute long horrifying rape scene. That is not what this post is about.

The other was called Le Defi (the challenge). It's about Paris breakdancers,
supposedly, but there's not enough of a plot to really bother with. Mostly
dancing. The only reason I went to see it was the soundtrack by Herbert.

I wasn't expecting him to get screen time, though. He plays a short set with the
help of a can of Coca-Cola Light.

 WAVs or AIFF do not have any sound quality loss but the files are much 
 bigger as they don't use much compression, if they use any compression at all.

These formats and Sun's .au too can use quite a few compression schemes, such as
uLaw, MACE, ADPCM (is that compression or just encoding?) etc. etc. These are
all lossy, though. I don't think there are ANY lossless compression algorithms
for sound, unless some corporation or the RIAA is sitting on a patent

 hehe... one of the tracks I've rediscovered is Praga Khan's Injected with a
 poison... only tracks by these guys I know of ; early commercial acid, I
 know, but extremely well done... have these guys released other interesting
 stuff, or were they just a one-off ?

Praga Khan is actually only one of the Lords of Acid, I think.

They released an album last year called Farstucker. They specialize in really
cheap sex and drug humor.

One of their other folks is Oliver Adams who produced the theme to the Mortal
Kombat movies.

I think Khan has released something like three albums in the last two years.

Their packaging for some of their releases is rather provocative. Voodoo-U has a
whole bunch of naked devil women. The P_ssy EP has a photo of a naked woman from
mid-thigh to navel with her pubic hair replaced by a cat's face.

of a Mix Remix) and some other tracks by the same people as on the one I have
(BCJ, Takkyu Ishino, Joey Beltram, Brother from another Planet, Mijk van Dijk,
Scan X, The Advent, Hardfloor, and Westbam)

Making sure this is totally on topic, I lost my Ghost in the Shell CD because I
left in the car I rented for DEMF. :)

Takkyu Ishino did this fantastic track for the Ghost in the Shell playstation
game. I have the soundtrack CD, but was this ever released anywhere else?

In addition, CDDB says there was a second CD with another remix of Derrick May's
To Be Or Not To Be but I have never seen it anywhere. Does it even exist?
