Central assistance will also be given to make Government Websites at the State and District levels accessible to PwDs as per guidelines for Indian Government Websites issued by the Department of Administrative Reforms Public Grievances.Proposals from States have been invited by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment under the ?Scheme for Implementation of PwD Act, 1995 (SIPDA)? after effecting a major increase in the annual allocation under this Scheme from Rs. 15-20 crore in the past to Rs. 100 crore this year. The Ministry has made a notional allocation to the States based upon their population of PwDs as per Census, 2001 and has requested them to sent proposals on that basis. For example, a notional allocation of Rs. 16.50 crore has been made for Uttar Pradesh, 8.90 crore for West Bengal, 7.90 crore for Tamil Nadu, 7.60 crore for Maharashtra, 6.70 crore for Madhya Pradesh and 6.60 crore for Andhra Pradesh. Similar notional allocations have also been communicated to other States based on their population of PwDs. It may be recalled that the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), 2008, to which India is a signatory, calls for making buildings, work places, facilities including information, communication and other services etc accessible to PwDs on an equal basis. The Union Minister of Social Justice Empowerment, Shri Mukul Wasnik, had written to the Chief Ministers of all States earlier this year urging them to make the important buildings and websites of the State Government accessible to People with disabilities in a time bound manner. Central assistance on significant scale is provided to states under ?Scheme for Implementation of PwD Act, 1995 (SIPDA) to encourage them to move in that direction. VBA Add a

Re: [AI] There is noone who is listening to classical music? or
Dear Neelima and other friends, I am deeply touched by Neelima's thought provoking mail about the immense value and everlasting significance of Indian Classical Music.[sorry for reading this mail today only]. I even read Mr. Pradeep Banekar's informative tributary mails about Late Pundit Putraj Gavai, who, inspite of being visually challenged and having a flood of obstacles in his tedious path, not only went to gain perfection and world wide acclaim for his immortal Music, but even paved the way for hundreds of visually challenged curious aspirants to learn and perfect this Divine Art under his own guidance and also to follow the path shown by their Grate Guru! [I am sure all of you have read my late reply to Mr. Pradeep Banekar's Mails also]. As regards the so called DJ designed music of today,it is definitely a pass time and stands nowhere when compared to our own Heavenly Music, which, right from the Vedic Times till today, has been successful in blessing its lovers with Param Aananda; and not only that, even helping them to connect their souls with the all mighty [The Nirakaar Par Brahmma]. It is a real pity that we Indians learn to value and respect our own culture and heritage only after the Westerners start to recognize and follow it first! Otherwise we always take pleasure in making crude imitations of Western culture and posing ourselves to be ultra modern. Maybe most of you would be amused to know that A. R. Rehmaan's Oscar Winning composition, Jai Ho [from the movie Slum Dog Millionaire], which has actually been copied from the much revered Western composer, Mozart's Symphony 40, is quite similar to our very own Raag Bhairvi, a melody which is being sung and played in Indian Classical Music for centuries. So, Neelima, on behalf of all my friends in Access India, I assure you that although there are a lot of Indian Music lovers on the list, but I fail to understand why they always prefer to remain silent about it. Once again I express my sincerest thanks to my friend Pradeep Banakar for enlightening the list about the immortal contributions of Pundit Puttraj Gavai not only for the Music World in general, but also for the V I community in particular. [AI] Google testing car that drives by itself: report
Google testing car that drives by itself: report Device atop the car gives details of surroundings Google engineer Sebastian Thrun is behind the project New York: Internet giant Google is secretly developing a car that can drive itself, using artificial intelligence, a report says. Seven test cars have driven 1,000 miles without human intervention and more than 1,40,000 miles with only occasional human control, The New York Times reported. The car project of Google uses artificial intelligence software that can sense anything near the car and mimics the decisions made by a human driver. The device atop the car produces a detailed map of the environment which is used to navigate safely. One test car drove itself down Lombard Street in San Francisco, one of the steepest and curviest streets in the United States. The only accident, engineers said, was when one Google car was rear-ended while stopped at a traffic light. Autonomous cars are years from mass production, but technologists, who have long dreamed of them, believe that they can transform society as profoundly as the Internet has. Robot drivers react faster than humans, have 360-degree perception and do not get distracted, sleepy or intoxicated, the engineers argue. They say the technology could double the capacity of roads by allowing cars to drive more safely while closer together. Because the robot cars would eventually be less likely to crash, they could be built lighter, reducing fuel consumption. The car can be programmed for different driving personalities. The project is the brainchild of Sebastian Thrun, the 43-year-old director of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, a Google engineer and the co-inventor of the Street View mapping service. Google is using six Priuses and an Audi TT in the project. Google researchers said the company did not yet have a clear plan to create a business. - PTI http://www.hindu.com/2010/10/11/stories/2010101162332000.htm There is enough light for one who wants to see. Re: [AI] There is noone who is listening to classical music? or
hey hi!there is no song or music which does not contain a raga. any song or composition has to have some raga. whether it may be western or indian music it is been composed using the 7notes or to be more specific it is done using the saptak[according to indian music] or a octave[according to western music]. so no music is without a raga if you go to see in deep. regards.
