hi friends I read about maltreatment to many of the members daily it
is my view that it is high time that we find some concrete solutions
.we are citizens of a free country and need to be respected thus
.there are many legislations which protects the women, SC ,st against
harassments ,exploitation and maltreatment.it is thus suggested that
there should be a legislation for the disabled people which protect us
and safeguards our rights .the acts of maltreatments must be defined
as offence and punishment be provided for it .There must be public
officers appointed who shall register and investigate complaints and
pronounce punishments .There should be a national commission which
shall overview the protection of the human rights of the disabled
people.

[AI] Require writer for CA PCE May 2011 in Delhi

2011-03-29 Thread Milan Mittal
Hello Access Indians,
How are you?
Hope all are fine.
I am back with another problem. Wish we group members will be able to
solve it as soon as possible.
As many of you know, i am appearing for my CA PCC exams in May 2011
for which i am allowed an undergraduate writer and 30 minutes per hour
extra time. My date sheet is as follows-
7th May - Cost accountancy and financial management
9th May - Taxation
15th May - Information technology and strategic management
My issue is that in Delhi, all the universities are having their
graduation exams in May at the same time during my exams, and hence,
no undergraduate is interested/coming forward to write my exams as it
is obvious that when they themselves are busy, how come they can help
me out. I have contacted Delhi university, Indraprasta university,
Hisaar university and Maharishi Dayanand university for the same but
nothing worked out.
What can i do in this case?
Please guide me whom to contact for this?
Can i take anyone who is a graduation drop out and is around 30 year
of age as one person is agreeing to go as scribe?
Is their any provision that i can take a graduate as scribe.
Please note that-
1.A 12th passed wont work as he wont be having the basic knowledge of
the subjects as it is necessary/required for one to explain questions
correctly.
2.I am not allowed by the ICAI to change the writer.
3.Scribe must be from commerce background.
Waiting for your valueable feedback.

Re: [AI] I want to know how can a visually impaired can learn Phoenetics.

2011-03-29 Thread Swati Sinha
Hello,
You cannot learn phoenetics with the help of JAWS. For this, you will
require sighted assistance. So that, the sighted person can explain
you, how the symbols and signs look like. This will help you to
explain your writer in your exams too.
And once you are thoro with the signs, you can write it in accordance
of your understanding so that you can revise during exams with the
help of JAWS.
When I was learning phoenetics signs, my sister helped me. As I am
late blind, thus remember the signs or characters/ alphabets, it was
not much difficult for me to memorize.
For those who have problem by birth, they can take help of the
instruments used for making out Mathematics symbols, or the sighted
person can emboss the figure/signs on a braille paper for you.

[AI] How to get most from Windows7

2011-03-29 Thread neelima kumari
Hello all,
Hope all is well.

I got one article on timesofindia.com. hope it will become helpfull
for them who use Windows7. Therefore I am pasting here.

Just read it and reply me.

Looking for your reply.

Take great care of your health.

God examine those whom loves he the most.

How to get most from Windows 7
WASHINGTON: A mouse comes with every Windows-based PC. But that
doesn't mean you have to use it.

In fact, Microsoft has been slowly sending that message with each new
version of Windows that it produces. In Windows 7, in fact, keyboard
shortcuts are everywhere. You just have to know them.

Of course, few people memorise keyboard shortcuts for everything. But
concentrate a while on the shortcuts for areas of Windows 7 that you
use the most, and you're likely to find a few that are so useful that
you'll remember them quickly.

First, though, a word about the formatting of the shortcuts discussed
below. The plus sign (+) is used to signify two or more keys that
should be pressed in quick succession.

For Ctrl+B, for example, you would hold down the Ctrl key and tap the
letter B on your keyboard. The abbreviation 'Win,' too stands for the
Windows key found on most keyboards today.

It's the key that opens the Start menu, but it's now frequently used
in conjunction with other keys to activate features or functions.
Let's get started.

Windows Explorer
When you're working with files and folders - and consequently with the
Windows Explorer file manager - you just want to get your work done,
and fast. So it's great to know a few keystrokes to speed you on your
way.

And there's good news in Windows 7 for Explorer lovers. For starters,
you can now create a new folder simply by pressing Ctrl+Shift+N. When
you do, a new folder appears in the current directory that you're in,
and the words New Folder are automatically highlighted, ready for you
to supply a more descriptive name.

Moving from one folder to another in Windows Explorer with keyboard
shortcuts is faster than using the mouse, too. Press Alt in
conjunction with the arrow keys to move left, right, and up a level.
The same keyboard shortcuts (left and right) work in Internet Explorer
to take you backward and forward one page at a time.

While you're inside a folder, looking at a bunch of files, press Alt+P
to toggle the file preview window on and off. File preview displays a
thumbnail of the file's contents in the right-hand pane.

Pressing Shift while right-clicking on a file in Windows Explorer
uncovers some hidden gems on the resulting pop-up menu. For example,
the 'copy as path' command, normally hidden, becomes part of the
context-sensitive menu.

Click that, and both the pathname and the file name are copied to the
clipboard. 'Pin to Start menu' also appears, allowing you to pin a
file directly to the Start menu.

Similarly, pressing Shift while clicking on a folder unveils some
otherwise hidden features relevant to folders, including 'Open command
prompt here.' Previously available only with the PowerToys add-in,
this command opens a command prompt at the location of the selected
folder.

Windows desktop
The Windows key (Win) takes on new life under Windows 7. You can use
it both to launch applications and to perform myriad desktop tricks.

You probably noticed that, by default, Windows 7 pins a few
applications to the taskbar. You can pin more there just by dragging
an application and dropping it on the taskbar.

The order in which those applications appears is important, however,
primarily because tapping the Win key in conjunction with the numbers
on either your number pad or atop your alphabet keys will launch those
pinned applications automatically, in the order in which they appear
from the Start menu.

For instance, Win+1 will launch the first program pinned to the
taskbar. Win+2 launches the second, and so one.

Using Shift+Win+number or Ctrl+Win+number, and Alt+Win+number performs
other tricks.

Shift+Win+number launches an additional instance of the corresponding
application that's pinned to the taskbar, while Ctrl+Win+number cycles
through the open instances of the corresponding application on the
taskbar. Alt+Win+number opens the jump list for the corresponding
taskbar application.

Jump lists display application options or lists of recently used documents.
Other Win combinations perform similarly interesting tricks. Win+T,
for instance, scrolls through all applications minimised on your
taskbar, one at a time, while Win+B shifts the focus to the system
tray, where those tiny application or utility icons reside.

Once the focus is on system tray icons, just use the arrow keys to
move from one to the next.

System shortcuts
There are some handy system-wide keyboard shortcuts built into Windows
7, too. Press Win+(+/-) - meaning the plus and minus keys on your
numeric keypad - to zoom the entire display in or out.

Those who frequently hook their notebook computers up to a projector
or who use multiple displays will want to memorise

[AI] In a special place

2011-03-29 Thread Kotian, H P
Hello All
Copying a posting.
Harish Kotian.

Sunday magazine hindu:
In a special place
JO CHOPRA
Beyond rights, what most of us want is to be accepted and loved. A community in
Bengaluru for adults with special needs provides just that.

I felt we were in the presence of something profound and remarkable

Photo: Jo Chopra

Where love blossoms: Frances and (below) Gautam at Camphill Community.
Some experiences are so powerful you have to let them settle a while before you
can say anything coherent. And even then, the questions they raise continue to
disturb and to challenge.
The Camphill Community in Bengaluru is a residential home for adults with
mental handicaps. It's run by a Dutch woman and a South Indian man, along with
a staff of seven local people and a host of young volunteers from all over the
world.
My friend Shaila and I had gone there recently. We arrived to find all the
residents on the front verandah of a beautiful, Laurie Baker-style house. Each
resident had a companion and as we got closer we could see that Saturday was
bath day. Everyone looked damp and very well-scrubbed and the volunteers were
all busy clipping the residents finger- and toe-nails and cleaning their ears
with Q-tips.
Only too aware
I mention this to dispel any notion that I am sentimental or unaware of the
realities of taking care of adults with special needs. My daughter, aged 21,
has severe mental and physical difficulties and there is nothing I have not
done for her. Nothing. I know all about that particular reality.
As we approached the verandah, I heard a woman who soon introduced herself as
Frances telling the volunteers to be sure to sweep well afterwards because, she
said, Nobody likes walking over someone else's toenail clippings.
This practical and matter-of-fact attitude permeated the place, as it must
whenever there are adult bodies with child-like minds. The most basic of issues
which the rest of us handle ourselves and keep to ourselves, assume enormous
importance in communities of adults with special needs. But here it was
background, a fact like other facts, and nothing more.

What was foreground, indeed, the very ground of their being, was love. I have
been to quite a few residential set-ups for adults with special needs but I
have never seen anything like this one. This young man in the pink shirt - his
name is Gautam - is one example of where I got this idea from . He sat near us
as we talked with Frances and he seemed so happy just to be there, close by,
simply listening. Frances included him gently in the conversation, teasing him
a bit, as a mother might her own child and then sending him off to do whatever
it was he was supposed to be doing then.
I know that the rights-based approach is what all of us disability activists
subscribe to in our work and I know that every person with disability has the
same rights that anyone else has. But I also know that there is no law that
guarantees love and that without love, there is no real life.
I have seen set-ups where people with special needs are well cared for (though
in most I have seen even that is dubious). But that isn't what people yearn
for. What we all want, and people with disability are no different, is respect,
dignity, love. We want to be accepted as we are. We want people who look after
us well because they love us. We want a home.
Core beliefs
Camphill is founded on spiritual principles and the people who work in these
communities believe in them deeply. The integrity and inherent worth of every
human being is at the centre of what they believe - this was so evident in
Bengaluru it was hard not to get emotional. Shaila and I felt we were in the
presence of something profound and remarkable, as if we were standing on holy
ground.
Yet, according to Frances, the gift is more often not to the residents but to
those who take care of them. So often, she explained, volunteers come because
they want to do something for society. Yet they themselves are broken and in
need of care - love affairs gone wrong, no direction in their lives, a soulless
marriage or a deadening career - and their year at Camphill allows them to be
healed. By caring for people who are - willingly or not - out of the game of
ambition and achievement and success, they are freed to step back and look at
their own lives, to see what needs to be let go of and to move forward in a
more genuine, truthful way.
I was struck by this photograph of Frances with the dog which they had - of
course - rescued from the street. The respect and interest each seems to have
for the other is the hallmark of what we saw at Camphill. There is nothing
remotely sentimental about it: toenail clippings on the floor, I keep saying to
myself. It's about reality, about respect, about dignity. It's about love. I
saw it myself.

With thanks and regards

 Hi all,

This is especially for those using Mobile Speak with the E52. A friend's bro
is using it and seems to have some problem. While announcing the battery and
network status, does Mobile Speak say if there are new messages or missed
calls? Also, does it read the help topics?

Please let me know, guys. Thanks a lot and have a fun week ahead.

hi friend,

I got this information from inclusive planet, hope it will be helpful to you
and others,

How to Trace Mobile Numbers

With the rapid growth of mobile phone usage in recent years, we have often
observed that the mobile phone has become a part of many illegal and
criminal activities. So in most cases, tracing the mobile number becomes a
vital part of the investigation process. Also sometimes we just want to
trace a mobile number for reasons like annoying prank calls, blackmails,
unknown number in a missed call list or similar.

Even though it is not possible to trace the number back to the caller, it is
possible to trace it to the location of the caller and also find the network
operator. Just have a look at this page on
http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_telephone_numbering_in_India
from Wikipedia. Using the information provided on this page, it is possible
to certainly trace any mobile number from India and find out the location
(state/city)
and network operator (mobile operator) of the caller. All you need for this
is only the first 4-digit of the mobile number. In this Wiki page you will
find all the mobile number series listed in a nice tabular column where they
are categorized based on mobile operator and the zone (state/city). This
Wiki page is updated regularly so as to provide up-to-date information on
newly added mobile number series and operators. I have used this page many a
time and have never been disappointed.

If you would like to use a simpler interface where in you can just enter the
target mobile number and trace the desired details, you can try this link
from http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysissub=phonenr
Using this link, you can trace any number in the world.

By using the information in this article, you can only know where the call
is from and not who the caller is. Only the mobile operator is able to
tell you who the caller is. So if you're in an emergency and need to find
out the actual person behind the call, I would recommend that you file a
complaint and take the help of police. I hope this information has helped
you!

 From: Milan Mittal milan.mit...@gmail.com

Do you mean to say there is voice support for Android phones in CDMA?

What is the model which we can try? And what will be the approximate price

I had been looking for an accessible antivirus for a long time in

challenge was the accessibility, which in this case, was not at all

now i have finally come across kaspersky antivirus for mobile, which
is absolutely accessible. it gives a year long protection for around

 There are some handy system-wide

 From: Milan Mittal milan.mit...@gmail.com
 Date: 29/03/2011 12.51 pm

Re: [AI] Braille keyboard, computer games

2011-03-29 Thread Kanchan Pamnani

Ruchi,
I learnt typing many years ago when I could see. I still position my
fingers on the computer keyboard as I used to position them on the
typewriter. I learnt from the best school in Mumbai- Davars College. You
will know where it is.
There is a software called typing tutor or something like that which others
will refer you to, I have this on my computer but havent used it much. it
uses the same concept.
Although I would tell you that your son should learn to use all his fingers
correctly, I have seen several people only use one finger per hand and
manage extremely well.
You may also think of getting one of the old time typists or typing schools
to teach him.
One of the things I learnt was to put the carbon paper correctly. People on
this group may laugh but I still need this skill. I have secretaries who
dont know how to use carbon paper. Now the question -why carbon paper in
this day of ink jet and lazer printers. Just to clarify I have an ink jet
and a lazer printer in the office but I always keep a dot matrix for court
work. I need copies and more copies. It is so much more efficient.

Your son is young and his fingers will slowly settle into a rhythm. Even
though I am a great fan of braille I dont recommend a braille key board.
As far as games are concerned I have just managed to borrow a braille
scrabble from Sam, if your son wants to play lets find some time.

High all,

I have some typical difficulty in my computer.

I have scanned a lot of books; and I don't get any problem while I read

But one of them latest I have taken from my friend,

gives me problem in reading.

No doubt his computer is always whithout virous.

He updates his antivirus reggularly. He is also most expert in computer.

 Now my difficulty is that which scanned book I have taken from him;
computer does not read it as usual.

When I open it after two or three minits computer says

'Microsoft word print view edit.'

After that while I press down arrow for searching particular line or
words, it takes much time.

 Second thing

For proper reading of that book, I use to scan atleast two three times.
Then I delet ZV folder which creates in

local disk c. Then the computer reads it properly. But after some time it
loses the speed of reading again.

Friends What should be the exact problem with my computer? I use
netprotector and update it reggularly. I have done format more than three
times still the problem is same.

using just one finger. I think one should go for this technique even
though it may take a little time in the beginning.

There is a software called typing tutor or something like that which
others will refer you to, I have this on my computer but havent used
it much. it uses the same concept.
Although I would tell you that your son should learn to use all his
fingers correctly, I have seen several people only use one finger
per hand and manage extremely well.
You may also think of getting one of the old time typists or typing
schools to teach him.
One of the things I learnt was to put the carbon paper correctly.
People on this group may laugh but I still need this skill. I have
secretaries who dont know how to use carbon paper. Now the question
-why carbon paper in this day of ink jet and lazer printers. Just to
clarify I have an ink jet and a lazer printer in the office but I
always keep a dot matrix for court work. I need copies and more
copies. It is so much more efficient.

Your son is young and his fingers will slowly settle into a
rhythm. Even though I am a great fan of braille I dont recommend a
braille key board.
As far as games are concerned I have just managed to borrow a
braille scrabble from Sam, if your son wants to play lets find some time.

Dear Mr Bhavani Shankar,

Actually he uses the computer keyboard at school. However, he types
by the location of the key on the keyboard and not touch typing.
For this reason, I thought giving him a Braille computer keyboard
with those 6 keys and additional direction keys, may help speed and
also encourage learning Braille. There is one such keyboard by
portset. What is your opinion on this?

2011-03-29 Thread Satguru Rathi
Hi,

Just to add, you might have noticed that there is a small dot on J and F
keys of your standard keyboard and index fingers of both hands should be
placed on these two keys. it is very useful for finding the rest of the keys
and one doesn't need to remember the posission of keys from left and right.

Thanks Kanchan.

Actually my son uses the computer, but knows the key by position from left
end or right end, will teach him touch typing, in a couple of years, fingers
to small to move in the touch typing method.

Was just wondering if giving him a Braille keyboard would help him do it
faster, in addition to generating interest in Braille in a known domain.
Please give me your opinion on this.

Ruchi
