Re: [AI] Page number announcement
dear friend, i don't know how to do this when JAWS will say page numbers while reading. but I know how to check page Number while reading. if you want to know on which page are you? press ault plus delete to know the page number. in this case, if you give the command of reading (insert plus down airow) JAWS will start reading where you left. as far as your second question is concerned, I don't think that there is any setting which allows you to reading from where you left last time after closing the document. regards, sanchit Katiyar. [AI] request for Delhi members
Hi friends, I know this mail may be off the scope of the list and I apologize for that. But this is very important and very urgent. If anyone from Delhi has heard about a Homoeopathic doctor Dr. Bhatnagar who treats blood cancer in children (type A. L. L.), kindly let me know on my person email Id : sandeepsingh...@gmail.com. This is regarding a child who can not be treated by the modern medical science any more. [AI] Theme International Day of Persons with disabilities
Theme: Removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for all Background Over one billion people, or approximately 15 per cent of the world's population, live with some form of disability. Persons with disabilities, "the world's largest minority", often face barriers to participation in all aspects of society. Barriers can take a variety of forms, including those relating to the physical environment or to information and communications technology (ICT), or those resulting from legislation or policy, or from societal attitudes or discrimination. The result is that persons with disabilities do not have equal access to society or services, including education, employment, health care, transportation, political participation or justice. Evidence and experience shows that when barriers to their inclusion are removed and persons with disabilities are empowered to participate fully in societal life, their entire community benefits. Barriers faced by persons with disabilities are, therefore, a detriment to society as a whole, and accessibility is necessary to achieve progress and development for all. The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) recognizes that the existence of barriers constitutes a central component of disability. Under the Convention, disability is an evolving concept that "results from the interaction between persons with impairments and attitudinal and environmental barriers that hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others." Accessibility and inclusion of persons with disabilities are fundamental rights recognized by the CRPD and are not only objectives, but also pre-requisites for the enjoyment of other rights. The CRPD (Article 9, accessibility) seeks to enable persons with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in all aspects of life and development. It calls upon States Parties to take appropriate measures to ensure that persons with disabilities have access to all aspects of society, on an equal basis with others, as well as to identify and eliminate obstacles and barriers to accessibility. In spite of this, in many parts of the world today, lack of awareness and understanding of accessibility as a cross-cutting development issue remains an obstacle to the achievement of progress and development through the Millennium Development Goals, as well as other internationally agreed outcomes for all. The commemoration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities in 2012 provides an opportunity to address this exclusion by focusing on promoting accessibility and removing all types of barriers in society. After giving read command (insert + down arrow) jaws starts reading the document page by page automatically. But in this case I didn't understand how many pages I have read out. I want jaws to say page number while reading. How to do it? I also want to land on the page last read at the time of closing the document after opening it later. How to do this? I know the book mark function but I want to do it automatically by setting. Thank you. [AI] Daniel kish - echolocation
Dear friends, Daniel kish uses echolocation to navigate new locations. It is a technique in which mouth clicks are made and the echoes are heard back to understand how far an object is, and what kind it is. He has also led blind teenagers hiking and mountain biking through the wilderness. He is totally blind, having lost both his eyes to retinal cancer by the age of 13 months. A Tamil movie thandavam is based on Daniel and actor Vikram has dedicated it to his source of inspiration. We do have lots of videos of Daniel kish on YouTube. It seems like a great technique and should be a part of our orientation and mobility training. Re: [AI] regarding basic html feature of gmail
Ok. Before signing out search for the link "set basic html as default view" and press enter. Now you can normally sign in to use gmail in basic html. Try again with the below link. https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=html&zy=h On Sun, Dec 2, 2012 at 9:55 PM, B Jyothi wrote: > I copied and pasted, it directly takes me to the inbox, then I tried > to signout and then used the same link to sign in, but then to I > landed on the standard view, there is no default basic html link > > On 12/2/12, rijoy v wrote: >> Try to copy the below given link in a new browser url and press enter. >> And let me know what it shows. >> https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=html&zy=h >> >> On Sun, Dec 2, 2012 at 9:10 PM, B Jyothi wrote: >>> The links are not working.
