[AI] Information about signature guide

2016-05-24 Thread Bhavya shah
Dear all,
A friend of mine (whom I have CCed) would like to gain further
information about the signature guide device and perhaps other methods
of signing independently.
Note: He has some useful vision remaining, so he can be classified
safely as a low vision person, so adaptive techniques in that context
would be even better.
Please reply to all so that the CCed can get your mail too, because he
is not currently a member of Access India.
Thanks.
P.S. I have described the basics of the device, he would like to know
further details and possible purchase methods.

Re: [AI] NCERT books in english?

2016-05-24 Thread Bhavya shah
Dear all,
I would still like to kindly ask Bookshare to potentially consider
including NCERT books, even those in English to their e-library
portal, as notable portions of the textbook are textual but rendered
as graphics, leaving them inaccessible, and the text is laid out in a
format that matches hard copy textbooks visually but becomes
cumbersome to navigate with screen readers. In my opinion, PDF is
really not a great format to read academic textbooks in.
I had requested Bookshare of this not too long ago about this as well,
and couldn't further correspond further due to other constraints as to
providing more details of why English NCERT PDF textbooks needed to be
worked upon, which I acknowledge to have not been able to follow-up
with, but just expressing.
Thanks.

Re: [AI] Suggestion Required for ADF Scanner

2016-05-24 Thread Saaqib Mahmuud
Hi mates?

Has anybody used the Fujitsu's ScanSnap SV 600?

Here's the link.

http://www.fujitsu.com/uk/products/computing/peripheral/scanners/scansnap/sv600/index.html
This device, in my opinion, is much better suited to the job of scanning books
because you don't need to either unbind the book or place it face down on the
scanner bed.

I remember I've posted on AccessIndia before on this subject.

Regards.

NEW DELHI: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call, the
Centre has renamed the Department of Empowerment of Disability Affairs
to incorporate the word 'Divyang' in its Hindi as well as English
names. Known until now as the 'Viklangjan Sashaktikaran Vibhag' in
Hindi, the department will be called 'Divyangjan Sashaktikaran Vibhag'
as per a change in the Government of India (Allocation of Business)
rules approved by President Pranab Mukherjee .
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/department-of-empowerment-of-disability-affairs-to-incorporate-the-word-divyang-in-hindi-and-english-names/articleshow/52408370.cms
In the English nomenclature, 'Divyangjan' has been suffixed to the
original name. The Department will now on be known as the 'Department
of Empowerment of Disability Affairs (Divyangjan).' Last December, at
an Accessible India event and later in his Mann Ki Baat address, Prime
Minister Narendra Modi had suggested that the term 'divyang' (divine
body) instead of 'viklang'.

On December 3, at the launch of Accessible India, PM had suggested the
same, prompting PMO and Ministry of Social Justice to begin
consultations.

A debate followed the suggestion, with some activists opposing the
move. "There was a debate on the change in the name and the government
held many rounds of consultations with activists and the states. They
may have reached a consensus and that explains the change in the name
of the department. The word viklang did have a negative connotation
while divyang implies divine," disability rights activist Javed Abidi
told ET .

[AI] Audio described songs

2016-05-24 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Friends

Of late, I have noticed that the movies are made primarily to be
enjoyed/followed visually.
Raj kapoor had said that cinema should be both audio and pictures together as
well as individually, meaning that sound or pictures alone also should be
sufficient to follow/enjoy the film as well they together should form a unified
hole.

As a rule, earlier films followed this golden rule but today it is primarily
pictures.
Audio description, though yet to pick up in our country has proved to be the
way out for us.

However, I wonder have we tried audio describing songs as in songs a lot of
things are depicted visually which go totally unnoticed by us-blind.
Even in earlier films, we enjoy the song but its depiction is totally unknown
to us, except to the extent described by our near and dear ones.

So, I propose why not have the songs, including those from earlier era audio
described?
The sound of the music can be subdued and the audio description superimposed.
In this way, we can re-enjoy the old songs, and fully enjoy the fresh ones and
may get to know a whole new world!

2016-05-24 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Friends
NCERT books are available in Hindi on Bookshare.

But I am unable to find the same in English even on NCERT site.
The APP e path shala is available which I have downloaded, but I want the books

They direct me to books in flip format which I don’t find a way to download.

Re: [AI] How to delete multiple mails from gmail

2016-05-24 Thread Shweta Mishra
hi sir!
please read the below information about deleting emails on gmail.
Easy Ways to Delete Multiple Messages in Gmail
by C. Taylor, Demand Media
Deleting multiple emails can help you manage your time more efficiently.
Deleting multiple emails can help you manage your time more efficiently.
Gmail's inbox can display a maximum of 100 emails per page, so if the
emails you want to delete span multiple pages, you have to search and
delete them in multiple actions. However, Gmail offers three faster
methods for deleting multiple messages. The Search feature enables you
to display only applicable results and select all listed messages even
if they span multiple pages. Creating a filter performs a similar
action, but a filter can also automatically perform the delete action
on new, incoming messages. Finally, the Select drop-down menu offers
quick selections of starred, unstarred, read and unread messages that
you can subsequently delete.
Step 1
Log in to your Gmail account.
Step 2
Enter a search term in the top search field. For example, enter
someone's name, email address or some keyword. To display all emails,
enter "label:all" (without quotes here and throughout).
Step 3
Check the box at the top of the search results to select all results
on the page.
Step 4
Click "Select All ### Conversations" at the top of the search results.
This option only appears after you've selected all page results.
Step 5
Click the "Delete" trashcan icon and confirm your selection, if
prompted. Doing so moves all selected messages to the Trash folder,
where are automatically deleted after 30 days; click "More," select
"Trash," select all messages as you did previously, and then click
"Delete Forever" to remove the messages immediately.
Step 1
Click the gear icon at the top of the inbox, and then select "Settings."
Step 2
Click "Filters," and then select "Create a New Filter" at the bottom
of the window.
Step 3
Enter your filter criteria in the pop-up window -- for example, a
sender's email address, a specific subject or a keyword. To find all
emails, enter "*" in the "From" field. Enter "before:2013/09/30" in
the "Has the Words" field and use the current date -- or any date, but
make sure to use the format /MM/DD -- to filter all past emails.
Step 4
Click "Create filter with this search."
Step 5
Place a check mark in the "Delete It" box, and then place a check mark
in the "Also Apply Filter to ### Matching Conversations Below" box.
Step 6
Click "Create Filter" to delete filtered results and return to the
Filter list. Deleted emails are moved to the Trash folder, so open the
Trash folder, select the emails, and then click "Delete Forever" to
remove them immediately.
Step 7
Click "Delete" and confirm your selection to delete the filter and
prevent it from subsequently running on new, incoming emails. This
won't be a problem for date filters.
Step 1
Click the label for which you'd like to delete emails, such as "Inbox"
or "All Mail." If a label isn't visible, click "More."
Step 2
Click the drop-down arrow next to the top check box, and then select
the type of emails you want to delete. The drop-down menu offers the
following options: All, None, Read, Unread, Starred and Unstarred.
Selecting any option only selects the emails from the existing page.
Some options, such as "All," offer a secondary option to select all
emails, as described in the first section.
Step 3
Click "Delete" to move the selected emails to the Trash folder. To
immediately delete these emails, click "Trash," select the emails, and
then click "Delete Forever."
