Re: [AI] All six visually-impaired students who took SSC exam on laptops score above 60% - The Hindu

2023-05-13 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
This is great. Use of technology from High school should be made mandatory.
That helps a lot for children to learn effectively.

 Dear AccessIndia Members,

I am writing to bring to your attention a concerning issue that I have
encountered while booking train tickets on the IRCTC app. As a person
with a disability, I usually avail of the physically handicapped
concession while booking tickets. However, I have noticed that this
option is not available on the app while booking tickets under the
general quota, even though I have ticked the "person with a
 disability" box.

I have tried to contact IRCTC customer support regarding this issue,
but so far, I have not received a satisfactory response. While the
physically handicapped concession option is available on the IRCTC
website, it is not always possible to book tickets through a laptop.

As someone who frequently uses the IRCTC app for booking tickets, I
find it extremely inconvenient that this option is not available on
the app. Therefore, I request you to kindly help raise awareness of
this issue with others on the AccessIndia mailing list and to bring
this to the attention of IRCTC.

I believe that this issue needs to be addressed urgently to ensure
that the booking process is more accessible and user-friendly for all
passengers. I hope that we can work together to raise awareness of
this issue and to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to address
 it.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to
 hearing your thoughts and suggestions.

Exactly PWD quota is just for seats that are reserved for us we can

Re: [AI] Physically Handicapped Concession Not Available on IRCTC App.

2023-05-13 Thread Ajay Kharb
Respected sir.
I would like to inform you that we don't get the dissabilities quota
consession option if we book tickets under the general quota. To avail your
consession, you have to select the pwd quota from the given list in the
IRCTC application. We won't get any consession on our ticket under the
general quota.
So the application does not have any problem. You have to select the pwd
quota option to avail your consession.
With regards
Ajay.

Re: [AI] Problem with NVDA

2023-05-13 Thread harish kotian

Hi

You can create folder on any of your drive and make a portable copy on
that folder. Make sure not to select the settings from your existing
copy. Later you can make a short cut of the executable and run it
whenever you want.

You can change the language to English India or English US. Press

window key and type language then press enter use tab key and find

the language dropdown press enter to expand and use down/up arrow key

to select the language English India or English US then press tab key

and find the dropdown for country or region and press enter to expand.

Select India. This should resolve your issue. If you are using NVDA

and want to use English/Hindi keyboard then you can accomplish this by

using Left alt +left shift key. There is no need to change the

keyboard layout in system settings. Hope this helps.

[AI] Physically Handicapped Concession Not Available on IRCTC App.

2023-05-13 Thread rituraj meena

[AI] Accessible labels on websites

2023-05-13 Thread Payal Ki Jhankar
Hi,
Sorry if there was an empty message before this.
I am looking for help to guide someone to label social media connect
links on a website, so it can be read with a screen reader.
I was told Aria labels work, but these folks seem to be struggling
with it even now.
before the Aria label suggestion, both links for the and LinkedIn only
spoke "link connect". after the label, it says some gibberish code I
presume, but not the name of the social media, as it should.
If I have not completely confused all of you, can someone help these folks?
Thanks,
Payal

2023-05-13 Thread Pinkesh Tailor
I guess voice vision at Mumbai had conducted this workshop a few years
back. Could the same be conducted at Mumbai and other parts of nation
every now and then? This is also the need of the hour. Even if this is
a paid workshop, it would still make sense. It would cover the basic
cost of rent, meal etc. for the one who are organizing the same.
