Hi Sandeepji,
I hope I am not replying late.
There are online platforms which can be helpful in converting from
Krutidev to Unicode. Just type convert from Krutidev to Unicode. But
the converted document needs to be proofread as spacing is the issue
in   the text conversion. Even KIBO can be tried but again formatting
and proofreading is needed. I am saying it out of experience.

I need help for the  UDID renewal. While reapplying for UDID I am
asked the date of   cancelation of UDID. In my case the disability is
permanent and it is showing not available. When I am feeding the same
information it is showing that the application details are not found.
How date of cancelation/rejection/discarding can be generated for the
renewal of UDID?

There are handful of people who have received such heights in their
professions. Despite reaching such heights, he was very much to the

बोलो तो कहती हो-

कल पड़ौसी का राजू
बाहर खड़ा मूली खा रहा था
ऐर मेरे मुंह मे पानी आ रहा था
कई बार कहा-
ज़्यादा न बोलो
संभालकर मुंह खोलो
अंग्रेज़ी बोलती हो
जब भी बाहर जाता हूं
बड़ी अदा से कहती हो-"टाटा"
और मुझे लगता है

मैंने कहा मुन्ना को कब्ज़ है
ऐनिमा लगवा दो
तो डॉक्टर बोलीं-"डैनिमा लगा दो।"
वो तो ग़नीमत है
कि ड़ॉक्टर होशियार था
नीम हकीम होता
तो बेड़ा ही पार था
वैसे ही घर में जगह नहीं
एक पिल्ला उठा लाई
पाव भर दूध बढा दिया
कुत्ते का दिमाग चढ़ा दिया
तरीफ़ करती हो पूंछ की
उससे तुलना करती हो
हमारी मूंछ की
तंग आकर हमने कटवा दी
मर्दो की रही सही
निशानी भी मिटवा दी

वो दिन याद करो
जब काढ़ती थीं घूंघट
दो बीते का
अब फुग्गी बनाती हो फीते का

एक बनता था

Sharing below the complete information on facility of getting  photo
id through online mode. NVDA users for the first paragraph please have
Hindi set as a language with autolanguage check box check.
रेलवे ने दिव्यांगों को दी बड़ी राहत, टिकट बुक करने के लिए नहीं जाना
पड़ेगा काउंटर दिव्यांगजनों को अब रेल यात्रा करने में ज्यादा परेशानी
नहीं होगी। दरअसल, भारतीय रेलवे ने दिव्यांगों को बड़ा तोहफा दिया है।
दिव्यांगों की सुविधा के लिए उत्तर रेलवे के दिल्ली मंडल की ओर से
प्रायोगिक तौर पर विशेष पोर्टल divyangjan-rail.in लॉन्च किया गया है।
इसके जरिए दिव्यांगजनों को अब रियायती टिकट बुक करने के लिए टिकट काउंटर
तक जाने की जरूरत नहीं पड़ेगी। इस पोर्टल के जरिए यात्री अपने दस्तावेज
ऑनलाइन जमा कर सकेंगे। यह उन लोगों के लिए अधिक सुविधाजनक होगा जिन्हें
रेल टिकट बुक करने के लिए काउंटर पर पहुंचने में कठिनाई का सामना करना
पड़ता है।-पोर्टल 24 घंटे संचालित आपको बतादें कि दिव्यांगों को फोटो
पहचान पत्र हासिल करने में बड़ी परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ता है। उन्हें
लंबी दूरी तय करके सर्टिफिकेट हासिल करना पड़ता है, इसलिए रेलवे ने अपने
नए आदेश में दिव्यांगों को बड़ी राहत दी है। इस आदेश के बाद दिव्यांगजनों
को बार-बार मुख्य रेल मंडल के मुख्य कार्यालय के चक्कर नहीं लगाने
पड़ेंगे।इस पोर्टल से दिव्यांगों को काफी मदद मिलेगी। उन्हें अब मंडल
कार्यालय में काउंटर्स पर खुद नहीं जाना पड़ेगा। यह प्रणाली ई-टिकटिंग,
आई-डी कार्ड जारी करने के लिए दिव्यांगजन यात्रियों की ओर से आवेदन जमा
करने की पूरी प्रक्रिया का डिजिटलाइजेशन करने में मददगार साबित होगी।
बतादें कि पोर्टल पर तत्काल आवेदन किया जा सकेगा। दिव्यांगजन यात्रियों
के लिए ऑनलाइन पोर्टल 24 घंटे संचालित रहेगा।


INSTRUCTION AND PROCEDURE TO APPLY ONLINE APPLICATION

 Instruction to Apply Online:

1. Applicant should keep ready the following documents in the jpg/pdf
format with maximum 5 MB size before proceeding to fill up the form.
Details mentioned on documents should be clear and legible. Doctor’s
name, registration number and nature of disability mentioned on
concession certificate should be clearly mentioned and readable
 Concession Certificate
 Disability/Handicapped Certificate
 Age Certificate (PAN Card, School Certificate or as directed in Govt
Notification Mentioned Parameter i.e. DD-MM-)
 Aadhaar Card
 Address Proof (Voter ID Card or Documents as Directed in Govt.
Notification for this Purpuse)
 Passport Size Photo
2. Applicant should have a valid mobile number
3. Editing of any detail not permitted, so before submitting/going to
next step please verify all the entered information for correctness.
4. While filling the online application form, the applicant must keep
in mind that the entries should be appropriate otherwise the
application will be   rejected.
5. Applicant has to complete whole process within 72 hours from the
first step of registration. Online registration will be rejected if
you fail to complete the registration form within 72 Hours.
Beyond 72 Hours online application will have to be applied again.

उल्लेखित पैरामीटर यानी i.e. DD-MM-)
 आधार कार्ड
 पते का सबूत (वोटर आईडी कार्ड या सरकार के निर्देश के अनुसार दस्तावेज। )
 पासपोर्ट साइज फोटो
2. आवेदक के पास एक वैध मोबाइल नंबर होना चाहिए
3.किसी भी विवरण को संपादित करने की अनुमति नहीं है, इसलिए सबमिट करने /
अगले चरण पर जाने से पहले कृपया शुद्धता के लिए सभी दर्ज किए गए जानकारी
को सत्यापित करें।
4.ऑनलाइन आवेदन फॉर्म भरते समय, आवेदक को यह ध्यान रखना होगा कि
प्रविष्टियां उचित होनी चाहिए अन्यथा आवेदन अस्वीकार कर दिया जाएगा।
5. पंजीकरण के पहले चरण से आवेदक को 72 घंटों के भीतर सभी प्रक्रिया पूरी
करनी होगी। यदि निर्धारित समय सीमा के अन्दर पंजीकरण का कार्य पूरा नहीं
किया जाता हैं तो ऑनलाइन पंजीकरण अस्वीकार कर दिया जाएगा. 72 घंटे के बाद
ऑनलाइन आवेदन फिर से करना होगा।

Divya Nayan app has been tested with Hindi but it is just about 60%
accurate. What's the reason? Does anybody having first-hand experience
with the app? Nirmal: Did you also test it's app? With which all
languages it is compatible?

Dear Akash,

Generally, it is advisable not to do recording from internal computer
mike through Goldwave. The reason is that the voice quality is not
good. For recording purpose. You don't need to have any heavy, bulky
and fancy external mike instead, you can simply use headphone mike.
Please explore Goldwave tabs by left and right arrow keys after
hitting enter on Goldwave icon. Please check if you find sound/volume
tab there you can possibally find internal mike settings. If there are
gaps in my information, somebody else on the list will surely help
you. If you think that  I can be of any help to you kindly write to me

जैसे ही घर से सत्संग को निकला मै हो कर tip top,
पीछे से चिड़ाते हुए कुछ यूं बोला मेरा laptop.
सत्संग में जाने वाले ओ दिखावे के पुतले ,
ज्ञान की कुछ chatting shatting हमसे भी करले,
उसके चिड़ाने पर आया मुझे बहुत गुस्सा,
और मै laptop पे जोर से बरसा,
ओ बिजली के यंत्र switch off कर दूंगा अगर ज्यादा की बात,
वो बोला अरे जा पहले आईने में जाकर देख अपनी ओकात,
देख तेरे दिल की harddisk पर कैसे softwares का जाल है,
निंदा नफरत और इर्ष्या सभी spywares तो install है,
इनकी वजह से प्यार का program ठीक से run नहीं हो पाता है,
और मनमत का खतरनाक virus फ्री में download हो जाता है,
फिर ये dangrous virus गुरमत की files को read only कर देता है,
मन का processor चाहे strong हो फिर भी ये system hang कर देता है,
वैसे तो निरंकार का server कभी भी down नहीं होता है,
हमेशा तुम्हारा connection ही timeout होता है,
मैंने laptop की बातो में हां में हां तो मिलाई ,
पर खुद को शर्म से बचाने की एक युक्ति याद आई ,
मैंने कहा सेवा सिमरन और सत्संग का antivirus भी तो install किया हुआ है,
और मन के system की maintainence यानि AMC का contract सतगुरु को जो दिया है,
laptop ने मुझे प्यार से बुलाया और व्यंग्य कसते हुए यूँ समझाया
बेटा जब सतगुरु के वचनों की emails तुम्हारे मन के inbox में आती है
और बिना पढ़े ही वो सब दुसरो को forward हो जाती है
तो केवल वचन क्या तुम्हारा ख़ाक भला करेंगे
बच्चू उनमे अम्ल क्या तुम्हारे चच्चा करेंगे ,
उन्हें दिमाग में copy करके कर्म में paste करना जरुरी है
आज तक latest hardware में memory की कहा मजबूरी है,
नम्रता और विशालता का software install कर के देख
फिर खूब aish होगी ,
यदि ज्ञान का password याद रहा तो सहनशीलता की application कभी न crash होगी ,
और अहंकार के virus को तुरंत ctrl alt delete करो ,
निरंकार प्रभु की website पे जाने के लिए साकार गुरु के icon पर double click करो,
फिर आनंद के internet explorer से जितनी चाहो उतनी खुशिया pick करो ,
तुम्हारी झोली का disk space यक़ीनन कम पड़ जायेगा ,
पर इसकी रहमतो का download ख़तम न हो पायेगा,
मैंने laptop की बात को स्वीकार किया ,

Hi There,

Does CS means Company Secretary? If so, hardly any visually impaired
person opt for such a course. I was just curious to know if they are
denying MSJE 2018 Scribe Guidelines then what they are  offering? They
can't afford to say blank no. Since I myself lack knowledge where I
can read CS Guidelines? Kindly guide. I am also curious to know the
procedure of submitting the assignments by any visually impaired
person. Do they do the same through  online or offline mode? If given
the extra time, one can take exam through online mode as well. I can
say that because I have taken exam through online mode for my Bhagvad
Gita Course. I agree the system should be accessible. If there are
challenges in that the system should consider altering it seriously.
If system not able to do so then should give other alternatives like
creating the google form for the questionnaire and submit the same
through email. I know that all the efforts I am talking about are time
consuming and taxing for which I am not sure if individuals and
systems are ready to move forward with? When we in India talk about
digital India are we also looking at the accessible systems like
TOFFLE and GREA of which I have heard the most accessibility with the
screen reader.

visual impairments in India experience the financial landscape in the
country. We would love to speak with you about your experiences with
the banking system in the country and its inaccessibilities. We are
interested in your experiences with physical banking, challenges you
experience with bank visits and you workaround those challenges. If
you use digital banking we would love to hear about that too!
Finally, we are interested in how you handle payments in general and
reasons for the same. We also would like to hear from you about what
changes could help better the banking system and how that would work.

I am as thankful as ever for all the help.
This time, I wish to know about the Google drive accessibility with
the screen reader. Is anybody on the list already using it
successfully?
Basically, I wish to know can we edit the documents by being on the
Google drive and make changes? Can we upload the documents without any
sighted assistance? What are the commands of NVDA  to use Google
Drive?

know if it is possible to make outbound calls and receive incoming
calls  from JEO Wifi? If it is so? What is the method? Basically, I
have a wifi device in which a CIM is inserted. I use it for the
internet connection with my laptop. In the nutshell, I wish to tell

Which screen reader you are using? NVDA or JAWS?
As far as trouble shooting for both the screen readers is concerned
you could restart the system. The demo version of JAWS will stop
working after 40 minutes. NVDA often does not speak if there are
graphics, if there are some sudden pop-ups at the back end which
screen reader generally does not read. If possible one has to depend
on sighted assistance. Make sure your system does not have unwanted
softwares installed because that also hampers the swift functioning of
any screen reader.
Hope it gives you some clue for your trouble shooting.

Few more quick things which a candidate can keep in mind:
1. What is the percentage of vision impairment?
2. What stream of engineering he wants to get into?
3. Does the candidate has an educated family? Meaning to ask is he or
his family able to advocate for him?
4. Since engineering is not a course of majority of people with visual
impairment hence  advocacy is of course needed.
5. While opting for the course the candidate should also keep career
options  in mind as there are few career options in engineering for
people with visual impairment.
6. Would you mind telling the name of the candidate? I believe I have
responded to a candidate a month or two  back regarding the same
subject matter.

Thanks, it worked out. Step 1. Keep the focus on edit mode. Step 2.
Then tap on it. Step 3. Then Swipe up and down to locate delete
option. Step 4. Then tap on it. Step 5. Swipe left and right to

Hi,

I am trying to summarise the judgment from a lay person's perspective
for my own understanding. The experts, kindly fill the gaps or correct
me  if I do goof ups. 1. The judgment dated 14th Jan 2020 is a
reviewed petition on Civil appeal 1567 of 2017 which is based on PWD
Act, 1995 "section 32 and 33 -reservation in promotion".
2. This judgment is for a very old case of 2008 Ravi Kumar Gupta
versis Prasar Bharti as and he and few others were denied  reservation
in promotion in group A. However, Prasar Bharti considered them unfit
due to their disability despite having chemical engineering
background.
3. The case was reviewed after 8 years on 30th June 2016 and the
judgment was given in 2017.
4. After that there were one or two more reviewed petitions in 2019
and finally, Civil Appeal No. 1567 of 2017 was reviewed dated 14th Jan
2020 in the form of latest judgment.
5. The gist of the judgment is that the judgment passed in 2017 will
become applicable after the issueance of this reviewed petition.
6. Though, there was already reservation in promotion for groups C and
D based on SC judgment dated 8th October 2013  but the salient feature
of this particular judgment is that now there will be reservation in
promotion for groups A and B. However, there are very few posts
reserved for PWds in groups A and B thus, jobs  roster making
committee really needs to be conscious of being able to do justice
with the policy of reservation in promotion.

I believe and experience that true love is a journey and it evolves
over a period of time. Though, it is generally true that a partner
with a disability may be sympathised at first moment due to lack of
exposure/experience/knowledge/societal pressure/prejudicehence not
taken as a romantic partner but with the passage of time the
relationship may get deepened and may evolves into a mature love. But
I also opine that even marriages between abled bodies may not have
romantic lives simply because there is no mind compatibility. I also
understand due to societal biasis people also are afraid to express
their actual feelings. Though there is no denial to the fact of eye
contact but that's not the only reason instead the main reason is
more thoughts compatibility/non-compatibility. The law of the nature
is that each and every individual is incomplete in oneself unless
another comes to accompany the one. It is our ego that looks down-side
or up-side in oneself or another. I have learned over a period of time
that if there are less expectations from each other and there is a
space in each other's life for pluses and minuses then I think any
married life can go well. It is true for all human beings including
one having disability or not having disability.

Nowadays, Youtube Downloader HD has stopped working. Thus, you can use
online websites to download videos. There are lot many. Though I don't
remember the exact name but I often copy the link of the video in
youtube and in Google edit box I write Convert youtube videos to MP3.
The first result I get I hit enter on the link and paste the link in
the edit box and hit enter on convert into MP3 button. Once conversion
is done I get a link by hitting on which I can download the MP3 file.
However, if you are looking for videos in particular, I am sure you
will find website for that purpose too.

impairment employee can avail the facility of an escort during the
training? If one uses the facility of an escort will he/she be paid by
the employer (Indian Railways)  for the accommodation and commuting?
If so is there any supporting document in this regard? An HR is
denying the same to a Railways employee who happens to be a visually
impaired person. Due to medical condition she wants to take her mother
along with her for 45 days training but an HR officer is denying as

Attended by:  8  participants.

Proceedings:
Welcome by Preeti
Detailed introductions by all participants, covering why they were
here with us, what are the top issues they would like to get solutions
for via this programme.
Preeti thereafter spoke about what   Silver Linings objectives were
and why Dignity.
The top concerns of the participants were, personality  and personal
Development, self-immage, grooming and body image, overcoming
inhibitions, tips on improving cooking skills.
Each of these issues were discussed and there were various solutions
shared by Preeti and also from within the participants, bringing forth
a very rich tapestry of ways to tackle various issues.
The most encouraging part of these sessions is that there is a marked
improvement in each Dignity girl! And the very fact that they keep
coming back for more, is most heartening
Participants who have been attending Dignity sessions for some time
now, shared the benefit they have got from being here regularly.
Cooking was discussed and Preeti shared the recipe of a few dishes. We
encouraged each one of the participants to practice independent
cooking, by most of us sharing tips and ways to approach various
dishes.

We were joined by a new volunteer Ms. Ritu, who is an accomplished
corporate trainer and consultant, an expert homemaker.

We parted to meet again in  August 2016 for the next session of Dignity!

I, Ms. Binni Kumari on behalf of Project Dignity Team share the report
on it's session III:

REPORT DIGNITY WORKSHOP
Session 3:

Date: 13/09/2015 (Sunday)
Time: 11 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
Venue: The Silver Linings office: 164B PocketA, Mayur Vihar, Phase II,
and and East Delhi.

Total number of Dignity Lady Members present: 13. There were 7 new
members and 6 regular members.
There were 11 members with varied degree of vision impairment, and we
had 2 sighted non disabled members.
Age group of the present Dignity members was from 21 up to 57 years.
Main topics covered during the Dignity Session III were, Confidence
and Sexuality.

The session started with the purpose of the Project Dignity. This
project aims at discovering one’s own attributes, attitude, real self
and a way forward towards realizing one’s own worth and working
towards achieving the same, helping each other realize that the
responsibility of where we are in life at any point, is absolutely our
own. So it is very important to discover our own strengths and
weaknesses, so we can work towards making   the required changes to be
able to continue to walk on the path of success.  To live with a
purpose and become contributors and make the most of all that one has!

This was followed by the session on Confidence. In this session, each
one of us was asked to define what the words confidence and Dignity
meant to us.  Tools were shared with us as to how we could practice on
our own, to further build and develop confidence and self-esteem.

This was followed by lunch.

Post lunch, we embarked on the session on sexuality, specifically
keeping in mind the requirements of visually impaired females. Here
each member very openly shared our understanding about sexuality.
We talked about menstrual cycle, how sexuality is understood in our
society, our understanding about sex and sexuality due to lack of
eyesight, etc.

Moving forward:
We plan to take up various topics like personality, sexuality,
socialization, health, etc. for each one of us to be able to benefit
from the Dignity workshops.
We plan to conduct Dignity session 4 on body image and communication
under sexuality and personality in the next month.
We will indicate the date as soon as it has been confirmed.

Project Dignity requests each existing and potential participant to
maintain the continuity in their participation, for stealing concrete
benefits out of the sessions. However, in case you are a girl/lady,
you are welcome to come join the Dignity workshops, to discover the
value you may find for yourself!

Dear All:

I am delighted to share our experiences with Pangot trip below on
behalf of all the Pangot tourists

Pangot

Date: 7th August to 9th August
Background:
The idea initiated on the launch of Fusion on 10th November 2013, when
majority of disabled members present, aired their wish to travel! Mr.
Rajesh Madan, who was one of the members present there took this
seriously and continued to look for how he could help make this one
wish into a reality.
And on 5th April, 2015, Mr. Madan came with the offer to take a group
of Fusionites to Pangot, a bird sanctuary 15 Km from Nanital in the
mountains of Uttaranchal. This trip was sponsored by various people as
well as the owner of the resort where the group was lodged also
partially sponsored the cost. Each member of the group had only to pay
Rs. 1,000/ for the 3 day 2 night trip! And part of the expenses were
taken care by Silver Linings.
12 Fusionits went for the trip:  and all had a gala time!
Below are some heartfelt comments shared by some of the holidaymakers,
on the Magical Moments whatsApp group, which was especially created by
them!
Preeti writes:
We left Delhi from the Anand Vihar railway station by the Kath Goddam
  Shatabadhi; and at the end of the 6 hour journey, 2 cars drove the
most excited group to Pangot, which was a 2 hour uphill drive via
Nanital!
Although it was raining heavily all along, there was nothing that
could dampen the soaring spirits of the supremely excited group of 9
visually impaired and 3 non disabled people!  They quickly got to know
each other in the train, and by the time they were inside their rooms,
they were best of friends!
It was for the first time, most visually impaired people had stepped
out for a holiday without restraint of over powering family and
friends! And it was most wonderful to see them blossom into suddenly
confident people. They too could have so much fun; they too could be
free and enjoy the world around them! Plus, the amount of awareness
this trip created was also great! People in and around the resort,
fellow travelers and also other huge numbers of on lookers too
witnessed, visual impairment in a most positive light!
Aditi Bhutani writes:
Hi friends, we r back from an awesome trip offered by jungle CEO to
the fusion team. We went to a place called panghot near nainital, in
the lap of nature we had a variety of birds singing n hopping all
around. We were a group of 12 out of which 9 had vision impairment n
went by shatabdi till kathgodam n were taken by cabs thereafter. We
were greeted by alem, the caretaker of the resort n her team with a
warm heart. I had a special welcome however , by a leech , who had
stucked on my foot even before i could settle in my room. I had only
read about them previously , never seen one before , n i had one on me
now.

Alem pointed it n  i had all sorts of questions on my mind by now,
including willl i reach back home, hahaha. It was pouring since last
night n the weather was romantic, the guests however were strangers to
each other, formal introductions had only taken place during the small
journey in the train n small sessions of antakshree in the cab.  . We
were all hungry by this time. After settling our baggages in our rooms
n getting rid of the leach on my foot we were heading towards the
dining room when another member was chosen by a leech. This time
everyone was screaming in fear, alem then shared this is a regular
thing for them n leeches urify our blood n r paracites, comnon in
rainy season. I got my sinking heart back. It was now time to meet
gabbar n dolly whom we named as basanti. Both were waiting for us,
these two dogs accompanied us to all morning n evening walks n a
indispensible part of our joys n sorrows for next three days We
entered the dining area n were introduced to tejpal ji who took care
of our hungry stomachs, served us delicious cuisines, attended to our
early morning demands for tea with utmost sincerity n love.  Alem
shared some interesting facts like everything served to us was organic
,   The place is famous for its migratory birds n most important salt
will be our weapon against my fav leech . After having our tummies
stuffed n having felt the warm lamp lit dining area, rajesh sir took
us to the little library for the guests, it was still drizzling n we
were hand in hand with our new friends. The scenic beauty was making
it difficult for me to click n i was regretting having left my cam in
the room unaware that there were many more opportunities coming my
way!

We were then escorted to a cottage, the balcony of which was our chat
room for next one hour. In the middle of a cloud stood a group of
people from different walks of life, different on ages, from different
states, writers n chess players, girls n boys, gabbar n basanti were
speaking to break the silence of the wet amnvience. Conversations were
interesting varying from the wild animals in the area to naughty jokes
on gabbar n basanti . I was told that the place will soon be

I take imense pleasure in sharing with you all the report on session
II of  Project Dignity

REPORT 2nd SESSION OF PROJECT DIGNITY (TRAININGS)

Date Sunday 2nd August 2015.
Venue: The Silver Linings office Mayor Vihar Phase 2.
The second session of Project Dignity Training programme was held at
the Silver Linings office on 2nd August Sunday. Ms. Binni and Ms.
Aditi Jointly coordinated the same; and it was decided that Ms. Binny
 leads this programme henceforth, with Ms. Aditi and Ms. Preeti
working closely with her! So congratulations Ms. Binny, wish you all
the success!
This meeting was attended by 5 visually impaired women and 1 sighted woman.
We take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank Ms. Ronnika Bhindra
volunteering her time and expertise towards conducting the training
programme with Preeti assisting her.
As planned, the training commenced with introductions as there were 2
new members. This was followed by once again Preeti reiterating the
mission and aim of this project and training programme.
Thereafter, there was an open discussion around what were the upmost
burning issues that the participants wish to work around first. From
here Ms. Ronnika, who is a professional trainer as well, brought the
session into order by getting the girls to list their top three
wishes. Following which we took each girl through her personal wish
and broke down the requirements further. Ultimately, the session
concluded with a fair idea of areas where we needed to focus for the
sessions to come.
The next session will be designed around the indicators that surfaced
here; this will actually help each of the participants to learn and to
grow in areas where they feel they require the most help.
Some needs were smaller, and these were dealt with there and then by
way of tips and shared experiences.
We are delighted to share that Project Dignity has already begun to
positively impact lives of 8 visually impaired girls/women!
The next session of Dignity is planned for the 2nd Sunday of
September. As on 30th August, we will be doing a shadow Dignity
session within our Fusion meet! We will also be doing a mini Dignity
session over the weekend when a group of visually impaired people are
travelling to Pangot in Utranchal from 7th to 9th August.
Looking forward to having countless visually impaired girls and women
live life to its fullest and with complete Dignity!

Silver Linings is delighted and proud to invite all the women with
visual impairmentto participate in the  Project Dignity for the
second time  on 2nd August (Sunday) 2015 from the current Silver
Linings office at: 164 B, Pocket A Mayur Vihar Phase 2, Delhi 110091.
Time 11 am. To 2 pm.

Brief  about Project Dignity:

Mission of Project Dignity is just what the name suggests!  Dignity is the
birthright of all humans, yet somehow some of us have to struggle to live
with it! Especially  true for women/girls with visual impairment! Project
Dignity is here to bring together women/girls  with vision impairment  to
learn and to teach all that is required to  blossom and further enhance
skills  and personality development techniques, to help us to automatically
become the world's most desirable and valuable citizens! Our Vision is to
achieve true freedom and complete independence and nurture ourselves to be
able to  live life to its fullest and on our own terms!

Agenda  for the   second session:

(a) Participantss’ introduction).
(b) A brief  introductory talk as to the mission and vision of Dignity
and how we see it going forward. We will have an informal group
discussion.
(c) This will be followed by an open discussion and Q and A by all present.
Sharing of ideas and thoughts regarding our issues/challenges and
overcoming them.
(d) Session on Personality Development By Ms. Preeti Monga.
(i) We are going to just list out some elements of our personalities
which make us uncomfortable in the public. Consequently we will look
out for the stratergies   to  overcome those challenges successfully.
(ii) Cooking classes: Here too our resource persons will be deciding
via open discussion, as to how they wish to move forward with these
classes. We will take stalk as to where we need to begin, and a
beginning will be made with practical classes in Preeti's kitchen.
(iii) We will also try our hands in learning make up.

Aditi Bhutani along with Binny Kumari, i.e. myself, will be
coordinating this programme under the guidance of Ms. Preeti Monga.

As the project Dignity  succeeds in the years to
come, we are expecting women with visual impairment themselves  as
resource persons and leaders who pledge to  help each other take this
project forward by supporting various activities  and helping Project
Dignity to uplift status of visually impaired women and girls!!

Upasana Makati, 24, quit her public relations job after just a year to better 
her relations with the world of niche publishing. Launched in May this year, 
White Print is a 64-page Braille magazine that includes stories on politics, 
art and culture from across the globe, reviews of audio books, gadgets, travel 
and food.


Upasana tied up with the National Association for Blind in Mumbai to print the 
magazine but she is clear, this is not a charity venture. White Print has

I've heard about talking thermometre, talking watch. I think the 
availability of both the products  can be checked from Saksham.
I've also heard about Penfriend labler which is used for identifying 
anything including colours with the help of RFID stiggers which are washable 
.
I think further details can be gathered from Barier Break or Karishma 
Enterprises. Not sure.

Eighteen-year-old Sana Samad is the second student after Kartik
Sawnhey to have been allowed to pursue mathematics after Class 12 at
the Delhi University.

 Life will no longer be a blind alley for Sana Samad, one of the two
visually impaired students from the city, who opted to study
mathematics in Class XII despite opposition and has secured admission
to a prestigious Delhi University college. Eighteen-year-old Sana, who
proved her detractors wrong by scoring 93 per cent in Maths, is elated
about getting admission in Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) -- where
she will study the subject.

The odds were stacked against both Sana and her visually impaired
batchmate-friend Karthik Sawhney when they decided to pursue the
less-trodden path by opting for Maths at the CBSE board.

Sawhney, after a long fight with IIT-Delhi, has been accepted at the
renowned Stanford University, while Sana is happy at being accepted at
SRCC, where she will pursue Commerce.

The challenge to study Maths, for both Sana and Karthik, was
stupendous, in the absence of any study material in Braille.

Sana perhaps encountered more problems than Karthik.

Bluebells School, where she was enrolled, had a new Maths teacher for
Class XII and her grades fell. She was advised to study music instead.
But Sana did not budge.

Her mother Dr Pakiza Samad, who teaches Commerce at a Delhi University
college, recalls, I would spend a couple of hours each day and help
Sana with (audio) recordings.

I would record Math problems and possible solutions and then Sana
would work on it.

At school too, help from classmates was difficult to come by.
Sometimes I would ask what was written on the blackboard and I would
get no answers or told they (classmates) were busy! Sana says with a
grin.

The challenge was obviously immense, but it was Sana's hard work that
eventually paid off.

Apart from SRCC I also got accepted for business management studies,
she says cheerfully.

Sana is excited about attending the orientation course in SRCC, though
she is not quite sure if she will be taking the metro to the campus in
the long-term.

I attended a six-week life skills workshop recently to become truly
independent. I learnt to cook, to housekeep and also about mobility,
says Sana, who has learnt to take the harshness of life in her stride.

But sometimes it does irk her.

I was on a bus and a lady, my co-passenger, had a lot of questions
for me: 'Are you blind by birth?'; 'How did you become blind?'; 'Are
you completely blind?' Sometimes I think people should be more
sensitive towards us, she says smilingly.

It has been a long journey for Sana and her mother -- right from the
time Pakiza had to fight to get her daughter accepted in a mainstream
school, and helping Sana survive in this big, bad world.

Sometimes I've just had people staring down at my daughter and then
bombarding me with personal questions. It’s not been easy. But I was
determined to help Sana and raise her as normally as I could, says
Pakiza.

Sana isn't really complaining.

She has risen above the pettiness of it all, except for the routine
sisterly fights over sharing the study desk with younger sibling
Nadia.
