In is not only about votes, we also need to demand representation in
Parliament. Further it is time the Department of Disability affairs must
have persons with disabilities in charge. The Department has been in
 place
for over a couple of years now, nothing significant has come out of it.
Along side this protest and movement on the street, I think it is time we
begin an organised assault in the media as well as social media.

Fight for the law is great but time has come for us to aggressively put
pressure on Govt to deliver services and ensure all acts of the Govt
 involves an includes us.

Also, it is time that some of us disabled people need to join political
parties so that the parties can be influenced from the inside.

Hats off to Pincha sahib for making such a bold move. This move has to be
appreciated. I do hope the PM agrees to see him.

The authorities have been successful in making a blackout of this
 incident.
This morning, on P7 news they reported about the protest and the
 protesters
breaking the barricade, but no news about the lathi charge which followed
 it.

Very recently, there was a similar blackout of a serious accident at an
amusement park near Mumbai. which even had 17 fatal deaths , this too
 found
no place in the electronic media. Only the social media was buzzing with
 it.

Very, very alarming. Another very strong reason to express ourselves
 decisively by the ballots.

This is very good and appropriate demand for the person with
disability. We should move with demand that disable must be head of
the disability affair as well as c.c.p. now the time has come that we
can joine the political party and compaigne for our disability
awareness. this might be a legal and practical sensitization to the
society. Here I would like to make another demand that now that time
also has come that we should fight for implementation of Supreme

Despite its limited power and authority Chief Commissioner has done a
tremendous work.
Being an organ of bureaucracy itself, writing a strong letter to Prime
minister directly shows the dedication and sensitivity of the head of
this office headed by person with disability.
Don't know about others, but I myself have never heard of CCPD before
Pinchas sir's term.
In light of the effectiveness of this office headed by the disabled
and the vigilantism by the other similar commissioner of deprived and
marginalize groups represented by themselves, I again reiterate my
point that we should not reneged before the acceptance by government
to have a disabled headed National Commissioner for persons with
disability.

Sure.
Acts of the government must be vehemently condemned by one and all,
irrespective of the affiliations...
Trying to bring in ordinace to garner votes even when fifteenth loksabha has
met for the last time, when the RPD bill has already been referred to standing
committee, not addressing flaws in the RPD bill, and lathicharging disabled

2014-02-28 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
It is high time that we all speak up. The ordinance route isa
downright disastrous one, and even the CCPD is said to have indicated
as much to the Prime Minister. Even those who believed that bill
should have been passed into law with all its flaws should realize
that the ordinance route would create further complications, and there
won't be much of a point when we start talking ones the damage gets
done.
And if anyone is aspiring to be a disability activist/leader, you have
to stand with the disabled in an Either/Or, black and white situation
rather than talking up the police/government version. Not all of us
are in Delhi, many of us would be preoccupied with one or the other
responsibility. But we should at least speak up, those who have
regular access to social networking sites should let the world know
about the Police crackdown, and also about the rather ill-thoughtout
nature of the proposed ordinance.

According to the senior police officers, they had to resort to a mild

Absolutely agreed!
We all have to be unanimous on this serious issue and raise the voice
for any fruitful consequences.
It is not a time for buttering and fluttering which is perhaps done by
some of the people favoring the current disability bill or showing the
favor for the Government.
Let us be all straightforward and teach them a chapter comprehensively.
It is unfortunate to see no sensitivity towards this matter from so
called prince Mr. Rahul Gandhi and his team, shame to entire
opposition including BJP 1st, for their unbreaking silence. Media
people are also in lull? And what about Human riots commission?
Kudos to NFB for it's great efforts amongst the NGO's, let's wait and
watch reaction from other organizations, working for the ostensible
welfare of the disabled in the Country.

In is not only about votes, we also need to demand representation in
Parliament. Further it is time the Department of Disability affairs must
have persons with disabilities in charge. The Department has been in place
for over a couple of years now, nothing significant has come out of it.

The authorities have been successful in making a blackout of this incident.
This morning, on P7 news they reported about the protest and the protesters
breaking the barricade, but no news about the lathi charge which followed
it.

Very recently, there was a similar blackout of a serious accident at an
amusement park near Mumbai. which even had 17 fatal deaths , this too found
no place in the electronic media. Only the social media was buzzing with
it.

Very, very alarming. Another very strong reason to express ourselves
decisively by the ballots.

I think we also need to take steps to mingle more with non disabled society

Subject: Re: [AI] Again brutal lathicharge at rahul gandhi's house

 Dear All,

I am writing this post from outside Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

Not a single disabled person was/is admitted here.

I went inside the casualty and met the IO Incharge as well as the CMO.
According to them 5 or 6 people had been brought in with minor injuries
and they were sent home after basic first aid.

 (2) Before going to RML, I went to ground zero to quote my good friend
 Subhash Chandra Vashishth.

According to the senior police officers, they had to resort to a mild
lathi large since the crowd was unruly and was trying to break the
barracading put up by the police.

The Prime Minister was at AICC and they simply could not take any
 chances.

Many partially blind students have almost lost their eyesight. And they
are admitted in rml. But we will not give in and we will continue oour
fight unless this ordinance is not taken back. Hope you friends will join

Re: [AI] Again brutal lath charge at Rahall Gandhi's house

2014-02-27 Thread Kotian, H P
The authorities have been successful in making a blackout of this incident.
This morning, on P7 news they reported about the protest and the protesters
breaking the barricade, but no news about the lathi charge which followed it.

Very recently, there was a similar blackout of a serious accident at an
amusement park near Mumbai. which even had 17 fatal deaths , this too found no
place in the electronic media. Only the social media was buzzing with it.

Very, very alarming. Another very strong reason to express ourselves decisively
by the ballots.
