Re: [AI] CCPD and accessibility
The CCPD court is handled by Babus and don't expect them to be very sensitive to problems faced by the Visually impaired. They correspond by letters like any Govt body. You are lucky to have received an email reply. In my 2 years of followup i never received an email reply. Plus this court has very limited power although many higher courts have given it status of civil court.Recently Delhi high court has ordered CCPD court can not decide matters of promotion. I have even heard from a lawyer that CCPD court can not order remedical board in recruitment disputes. One of the employee of office of CCPD has confided that we only try to interpret the existing rules to arrive at a decision but if the case demands to challenge/contest an existing rule of govt then you will have to approach the high court. At a personal level they understand and acknowledge our problems but they are helpless as the present as well as the new disability act doesn't provide them enough teeth to address such problems. So my suggestion is to directly approach CAT or High court On 17 Jan 2017 9:39 pm, "Kartik Sawhney"wrote: Hi everyone, I have been helping a friend pursue a case with the CCPD regarding his university, and it is appalling that the documents that are sent by the commission are completely inaccessible. When an organization that works for people with disabilities behaves like this, I don't know what to expect from the others. I realize there's no point just criticizing it, and I'm hoping to write an email to them again-I just couldn't resist sharing. Re: [AI] CCPD and accessibility
Is it not time to sue our own Ministry? On another note- most people who have got orders from CCPD on accessibility of others have not enforced their orders. So its time to get the big guys directly. It is time to bell the cat. Who is going to do it? Re: [AI] CCPD and accessibility
Hell This happens even with the Ministry of Social Justice's site too.. I have written several times to CCPD as well as the Ministry for making at least their own Websites and communications accessible but all inVAIN Almost all the docs uploaded by CCPD on their websites in pdf format are inaccessible with the screen reading softwares. I am not able to find what to do and how? but really pathetic to see such things happening in the organisations working for the persons with disabilities. Re: [AI] CCPD and accessibility
Fully agreed Kartik. During my stint at Yahoo, we have helped re-building their website and even educated them at that point in time about accessible documents. I believe ministry should begin accessible India campaign right from their offices. I shall as well write an email to them.
