2022-12-22 Thread Yamuna Jivana dasa (Yogan)

Friends,
There are always intelligent, thoughtful and broad-minded people out there,
even in India.

But like anything in this world, the good is harder to find.
The right person will come along, either for your sighted sibling or for
yourself. Take heart. And pray while dedicating oneself to the path of
spiritual life.

My story I shared yesterday is proof that God listens, but in his own time.

Kind regards,

Yamuna Jivana dasa

Re: [AI] Does your siblings not getting married because of your disability.

2022-12-22 Thread Kiran Kaja
Hi Cauvery, I can empathise with how you feel. I have 2 older sisters and
about 20 years ago, something similar happened. They would get good
potential matches but once they realize that I am blind, those families
wouldn't pursue it any further. It didn't matter that at the time, I was
even running my own business. Your brother is better off not marrying into
such narrow-minded families. It is not easy to ignore the feeling of
responsibility but it isn't your fault at all.

Good luck with your studies!

Kiran

2022-12-22 Thread BHAWANI SHANKAR VERMA

it is good to read! that

If you get a very good job, people will understand that you are not a
dependent to your brother.

it is dificult to prove that you are in good job even if you get a good
one. blindness is blindness, it has nothing to do with your good job
outside your office building. I have 30 years of banking job, but, still
some of my far relatives don't believe it. A complete blind person has
to struggle with the perception in society. only wait and watch rule works.

i too am facing the same issue.
My sister is not getting good matches due to my blindness.
Most people asks about the support, i expect from sister after marriage.
All times, we mentioned we are financially indipendent, still we doubt
they consider it as serious issue.
i have stopped worrying about this issue as problem is with them only.

On blindness, the progression of the society is based upon perception
not on truth. In your brother’s case, this perception has now become a
bitter truth. Your brother have to wait and in-search until he get a
right partner who don’t have faith on such perception. In my opinion,
complete blindness for the society, is a matter of adjustment not a
subject of acceptance, and it is a bitter truth.

will always be your friend and love you. Your life is important to me.
I know it’s hard to believe that during the dark times, but I’m right
here to help you through. trust me dude, You’re not alone. Hang on!
more power to you and your brother. I'll pray god to give you
strength, guidance and nice Bhabhi who can treat you well. Call me any

My brother and I are congenitally blind. This had an impact on the
marriage of my sighted sister for some time. Many people suspected
that her children would inherit the disability of their maternal
uncles.

RE: [AI] Does your siblings not getting married because of your disability.

2022-12-21 Thread Ved
In my case, we were two brothers and four sisters. All including myself, got
married without any consideration of disability. Let me tell you that I
belonged to a rural belt in U P where people are considered to be most
backwards and conservative. In rural U P, disabled persons are sometimes mocked
and teased but it looks that family reputation stands more strongly than the
disability consideration when it comes to matters like marriage etc.

Hi, Access Indians,

This is a very personal thing but I don't have any other option but to ask this.

I am a person with visual impairment; I have lost my vision at a later stage of
my life.

I am pursuing my post graduation at a reputed institution, I am good with
technology, and I am independent also.

But, when people come to see my elder brother for his arranged marriage and
they get to know about me and my disability, they cancel the marriage with my
brother.

They think that I am a burden on my brother but I am an independent person and
even I am studying on a 100% scholarship and that too with monthly stipent, and
I will soon be getting a good job.

They say that they don't want their daughter to do seva of me.

My brother is does not have a disability, he looks good and ernes good as well.

But because of me and my disability he is not getting married.

If some one of you has faced this type of situation please suggest me what can
I do now.

Thank you.

Cauvery Krishna.
