Hi Shilpi, Thanks a ton for the update, This development must have passed me by. John It does work on the android app, but I couldn't make it work on the website. I tried a couple of titles including Hanna. Re: [AI] Netflix started providing Hindi audio descriptions of some of its Hindi web series in India.
Hi there, @Viraj Whew, I had a year's amazon prime membership, and I kept on trying on and off to see if AD had made it to India, but was not able to locate anything but alternate language titles. good to know I am not the only one XD Others that say that amazon indeed has AD available, could you check Fast and furious hobs, to see if that indeed has AD for you? Another title to look at would be Hannah. Hannah is an amazon original so ought to have AD, hobs and sure is one movie that has AD according to ACB @MAYANK Amazon prime does have AD available outside the US, for example UK and a few EU countries. Perhaps it is device dependent? I.E you need to have firestick and the like for it to show up? I have tried accessing it through browsers, and IOS. Tried to find audio Description track on a couple of English Amazon original series, but they are not there. There are subtitles and sometimes Audio Tracks in Indian languages to choose between, but no AD track. Regards. Re: [AI] Netflix started providing Hindi audio descriptions of some of its Hindi web series in India.
Hi All, I had reached out to an Amazon Prime person who is focusing on Accessibility with this thread. He has shared the below: "Thank you for forwarding the feedback. Amazon Prime Video does have Audio Descriptions for a all English Amazon Originals. Would you be able to pass this on to the customers and see if they are able to see AD. Customers should be able to turn on Audio Descriptions by playing a title and changing the audio language to English [Audio Descriptions] and it should be available on all devices like mobile apps, or Prime Video website. If they are unable to play AD, I would be happy to take a look." Hope this helps. Hi. I did reach out to Amazon, and they told me it was because of copyright issues that the audio description feature is not available in India. They did say they’ll forward the concern. I’m not sure if it’s available in any other market outside US at the moment. It is indeed difficult to understand why its not been brought to a big market like India’s, it’ll only attract more membership. Sunil, I think all Netflix Indian originals have audio description that we can access, starting with Sacred Games. No app is needed. You can get the AD on the net flicks app itself. You can watch it and enjoy the AD on your mobile or on your Lap Top. Re: [AI] Netflix started providing Hindi audio descriptions of some of its Hindi web series in India.
Hi Sunil and others, I have been aware about Audio description that netflix offers, and indeed Netflix is the only OTT in India that bothers at all to provide us with Audio description. The audio description however isn't limited to only those series you have pointed out, but almost all if not all the netflix originals has Audio description. If the content is origenally in English, there will be Audio description in English, If the content is was origenally in Hindi, it will have Hindi Audio description. I.E Sacred Games. I agree with your centiments and think that netflix ought to be encouraged and applauded for its admirable efforts in the area where it stands out as the only one to make its content inclusive for all. We should also see if we can't get amazon to follow along, I highly doubt it though, Amazon Prime US has Audio descriptions because they must by law, however Amazon India prime as far as I can see does not, which is a bit baffling, I mean if you have the AD tracks already, What's the harm in deploying them elsewhere too. If anything, that is likely to gain amazon prime more blind and visually impaired users. But of course, Corporates don't often do the sensable things. But I digress. I hope we do reach out to netflix (all of us that use the service or intend to) and tell them how great it is what they are doing and have done. [AI] Netflix started providing Hindi audio descriptions of some of its Hindi web series in India.
Hi everyone, I don’t know how many of you are already aware about this, Yesterday I was watching a popular web series “jamtara” on the Netflix, after tweaking app here and there, I found out that it had Hindi audio descriptions available just like we do use in excel cinema app. I also checked another web series “ghost stories” and found that Hindi audio description was available for that as well. We should use, share and spread this as much as possible and let the makers of the content know that how important is there effort for us and there is plenty of audience who use this feature and it should be included in all the future productions.
