Hi

Agreed, presently it is enabled for cheques over a prescribed limits and
signed.

Wanted to know as a system if it can be topped up to any value for blind
persons for cheques with thumb impression. If it can give the confidence
to the Bank's to clear it. Any problem in this approach?

login/transactions done on Union Bank of India Internet Banking portal is made
fully screen reader friendly for both android and IOS in user acceptance test
phase. Soon its updated version with maximum accessibility will be made live.
It was a great learning experience for team Union access to work closely with
the developers and to get the remediations implemented.

2. Newly added features in the internet banking portal of the Union Bank of
India like deposit print receipt, Re-KYC, Cheque positive pay system and Debit
card limit are improved for accessibility.

3. Bank’s few departments are sensitized and educated to send daily informative
and educative emails with text description for the embedded images in emails.
Also, e-circulars are regularly monitored by the concerned bank’s team. In case
of uploaded scanned image pdf they immediately flag it for replacement with
text searchable pdf format.

4. In continuation to Union Access awareness efforts post 600+ probationary
officers disability and accessibility sensitization sessions, 1400+ clerks
total 18 numbers awareness sessions on disability inclusion are scheduled by
the bank's training college which will be conducted by team Union Access.

5. As part of ongoing Union Access outreach program, we facilitated opening
bank accounts for persons with visual impairment with the support from NGOs,
colleagues and branch staff. Our bank’s visually impaired employees are
equally participating in the bank's aspiration on digital accessibility
enhancement.

Still, a long way to go as our key focus is on digital banking channels
accessibility improvements. We are thankful for the support from the list and
urge to provide feedback and suggestions to email id

Dear Friends

Two months ago, I shared a positive initiative by Union Bank of India
regarding the launch of a digital accessibility enhancement dedicated
project called Union Access. Myself and Rahul Gambhir are the
resources involved in this project.

It is an immense task to integrate ICT accessibility across the
organization which will take time. We have taken several steps in
this direction. Bank is on its journey to enhance digital
accessibility. We are happy to share a few areas of our work in the last few
months.

Submitted more than 30 digital accessibility and user interface
enhancement feedback and testing reports to different departments.
Concern teams were made aware of accessibility challenges. We have
covered digital banking channels, mobile apps, email communications
and internal portals.

Most important area of ongoing work is spreading awareness to
integrate accessibility. We are continuously engaged in the process.
We have developed 2 training modules and now they are part of the
bank's eLearning system. We have done vendors’ sensitization, staff
awareness, communications with departments and a very recent one is
this week team Union Access conducted a series of sessions on
accessible and inclusive banking for newly joined 600+ Probationary
officers. These new POs will be tomorrow’s decision makers and will
spread further awareness to 6000 bankers wherever they will be
posted. So the bank has done the right thing to introduce them
regarding disabilities, inclusive banking and accessibility.

Many activities were carried out as part of Union Access like survey,
books publication, email communication accessibility enhancement,
ecirculars accessibility, documentation, data collection, support to
users and customers, talking ATM feedback and so on.

It is great learning for us in setting up a project on digital
accessibility in a large-scale bank with 75000
