Re: [AI] VIs working in private or corporates other than public/government

2020-04-30 Thread Ajay Minocha
Hi Mohit,

There are many persons on this lists who are working with private
sector across different job profiles i.e. marketing, HR, Finance,
Technology, L, Strategy operations etc. so listing any generic area
is difficult as most of them at the end carve out their own path. In
general, since private sector doesn't have any legal mandate to hire
persons with disabilities, they only hire you if there is a company
policy towards inclusion or you are extremely good in whatever you do.
Happy to answer any specific questions.

Cheers,
Ajay

[AI] About advanced Braille keyboard

2020-04-30 Thread Jolsna Mathew
Here is a brief note for the beginners about the functioning of advanced
braille keyboard. There are 4 type commands in it.
The first one works on simple touch so as to produce the desired letter.
The second works on swiping commands. The 6 dotes are points to swipe to
left, 0; or right, 1; for some specific purpose such as to delete character
or add space.
The third type is touch hold commands. Stay for a while on a particular
letter so as to produce the assigned effect. For example stay on 123 to
spell out the previous word.
The 4th type is hold and swipe command. Stay on a right side dote and swipe
on a left side dote or vice versa; to produce the assigned effect. For
example, 620 and 621 deal with privacy screen. Stay on dote 6 and swipe on
dote 2.
this note is from my limited knowledge. Hope someone will provide the
lacking information.

Re: [AI] Course of accessibility certification

2020-04-30 Thread Shilpi Kapoor
Hi Mohit,

There is a certification renewal with IAAP. You can read more about it at
https://www.accessibilityassociation.org/content.asp?contentid=395

In short, IAAP certification is valid for 3 years. Every three years,
certificants will be required to:

- Complete a specified number of hours of continuing accessibility education
credits (dependent upon credential), which must be approved by IAAP
- Submit an application for certification renewal
- Pay the certification renewal fee at time of renewal. For IAAP members, the
renewal fee is waived as part of your membership benefits as long as your
membership has not lapsed during the three year period.

Let me know if you have any other questions about IAAP.

[AI] My Tale Too 2020 for wwd from South Asia- Deadline for application Extended

2020-04-30 Thread Nidhi Goyal

Dear All,

Greetings from

 Rising Flame!

We are so excited to share our call for applications for our unique writing
workshop,

 'My Tale Too' 2020. '

My Tale Too' was built in January 2018 as a response to the complete lack of
disabled women as leads in stories. We wanted to change this by asking women
with disabilities themselves to shift this narrative. ‘My Tale Too’ is a
writing project for women with disabilities to retell fairy tales and popular
stories with protagonists who are like them.

This writing workshop will be conducted by the award-winning and acclaimed
published writer and poet,

Aditi Rao. She will take us through 6 virtual group trainings through all of
May and help craft a story.

Eligibility criteria:
· Only applicable for women with disabilities who are 18 or above and are from
South Asia.
· Applicant should have some writing experience.

Read more about the structure and process of the workshop in the application
form.

If you are interested in applying, please download the form attached and email
the completed form to t...@risingflame.org

Extended deadline: 3rd May 2020.

Those who are committed to writing and creating a final publishable product are
strongly encouraged to apply.

Please feel free to write to us for any further queries at
t...@risingflame.org and please feel free to
circulate this in your networks.

Regards
