Re: [AFMUG] 900Mhz 14db ParaReflector Antenna

2023-04-27 Thread Jaime Solorza
Water company tower in Fort Bliss has two omnis for MDS orbit radios...one
reflector going on same tower...noise all around from their links plus EPWU
uses licensed and unlicensed 900 all over path to McGregor...at McGregor
they have an omni for MDS radios around the base...the long running fiber
link was cut by construction and will take several months to reroute
lines...so we are installing a back up ptp to get McGregor and Dona Ana
Army Base on line using Cambium n900 SCADA radios

Reason I want to use reflector is the amount of 900Mhz noise at Fort Bliss

Re: [AFMUG] Short Term Employee

2023-04-08 Thread Jaime Solorza
Hardest part of owning a company...I gave one employee some breaks but
after third incident, I fired him...during the last year of my company with
a sweet contract and everyone was getting paid very well...since many of
these projects were near the Texas-Mexico border, they would cross to
frequent the brothels!!! They started spending money foolishly and doing
coke...one wife called asking me to help pay electricity because they were
going to cut it off...I helped her and deducted from employee's pay...we
also came to blows I started to notice equipment missing from the
vans...
Called my boys to help me inventory through Suburban and two Astros on a
Sundaymissing a Hilti hammer drill, two Kenwood mobile units, two Elk
River Harnesses and all kinds of hand tools...on Momday , I confronted
them...the three fessed up to pawning the equipment in Laredo and Uvalde,
..they gave me the pawn tickets ..I fired them ..left me with one employee
and my son...we finished the contract and I closed the company...recovered
some items but nit all
Never again..

either side and not hampered by hinge...running some cables can get
difficult in busy panel...also the cutting is much cleaner ...

[AFMUG] Cambium cnReach N500 900MHz

2022-04-11 Thread Jaime Solorza
hello my fine feathered friends...
Have any of you installed or worked on the Cambium SCADA/IoT solutions? In
particular the N500 900MHz version...it is a strange bird...works as
unlicensed and licensed ..902-928MHz and 928-960MHz respectively.
We are bidding against GE-MDS SD-9 radios which I know are solid but way
more expensive and only work in licensed bands.
The unlicensed setting on Cambium radio provides a 4MBps pipe, more than
enough for cameras at important locations...
Peace

A local wisp has several 5 mile links pushing over 900MBps ...his only
complaint is rain fade which is rare but does exist...
He also has 24GHz HDX ptp links

Re: [AFMUG] Ubiquiti LTU radios

2022-03-28 Thread Jaime Solorza
These are WISP clients of mine who are having issues...my SCADA links stay
under the radar (pun) intended because I use 5 and 10MHz wide channels, use
dishes at remote ends, try to keep every link at -60dBm, keep links as
short as possible and perform a spectral analysis before and during
deployment..
Most of these are rural water utilities away from airports and military
bases...
Too small to warrant expensive licensed radios like EPWU...they use 900MHz,
11 and 18GHz licensed radios and currently deploying a ton of 4.9GHz
Cambium PTP links...funny, I recommended all this to EPWU when I worked at
ESS back in 2007..
