I'm using the Tolkien font for a long time now. With OO 2.4 there is a display
error.(attachment). If I increase the scale to for ex. 1200% the text is shown
correctly other fonts seems to work properly.

The unexpected move of the object does not happen in Calc only because the Calc
does not change the document page placement after maximizing.

In other words, when the document is maximized, the container part of the
embedded object control gets no notification regarding object move. So the
window of the active object has just the same position relative to the document
window. In Calc this position is correct by luck, but in Writer and Draw the
document page might be moved ( centered ), so the repositioning is required.

Thus it is no problem of Writer and Draw, it is just generally missing move of
the embedded object window, that luckily does not affect the functionality in
Calc.

I am setting the bug to 3.1 since the legal review is still in progress.

mav-mh: Please set it back to 3.0 if the review process ends early enough to
integrate the patch in 3.0.

3) right click Slide Define a background image and select the background
image (in this case a PNG file locate on the hard disk)
4) save file

[graphics-issues] [Issue 85451] image scaling not uniform even when Keep Ratio set

2008-06-06 Thread cemkaner
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=85451

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Jun 6 08:53:00 +
2008 ---
I must not understand the problem. Here's what I see in OOo 3.04 beta.

1. I create a new presentation
2. I add a graphic to the page (a jpg picture)
3. select the picture
4. Select Format | Position and Size to get the Position and Size dialog
5. Click Keep ratio
6. My particular width and height are 4.84 W and 4.61 H. If I change values **in
this dialog**, the ratio is preserved. For example, if I change 4.84 to 5.84,
the height automatically changes to 5.56.

Therefore, this feature works (so far).

If I try to manipulate the image directly by grabbing a handle on the image and
dragging it, I can resize the picture any way I want, creating distortion. The
ratio is not preserved. Is this the bug?

I then do the same thing in PowerPoint 2007.
1. New presentation, copy the picture from OOo and paste into powerpoint page
2. with the picture selected, click Format, click size to bring up the Size and
Position menu, and height and width are at 100%, click lock aspect ratio if not
already checked.
3. change Height and width changes (in the height / width boxes on this dialog).
Similarly, change the scaled height (100% to 110%) and scaled width changes too.
4. close the dialog, drag the middle handle to the right to stretch the picture
lengthwise, bring up the dialog and even though lock aspect ratio is still
stretched, my height is now 100% and my width is 126%.

So OOo 3.04 behaves essentially the same way as Powerpoint 2007.

If the goal is compatibility of the two products, then this behavior is a
feature, not a bug.

From #ooopackaging:

kendy sb: Do you think it would be possible to add configure switches for
the location of ure, brand, and basis?
kendy sb: We're currently patching scp2 to get something like inst/ure,
inst/basis3.0, and inst containing the brand directly.
kendy sb: [instead of inst/openoffice.org/ure,
inst/openoffice.org/basis3.0, and inst/openoffice.org3.0 for brand.]
kendy sb: Let me show you the patch - quite a hack ;-)
sb kendy: guess that would be doable, Ingo should know where exactly changes
are necessary in scp2/setup_native/insetsetoo_native (he is currently on
vactation), so I would suggest you contact him directly (and do the dirty work
in configure.in)

Ingo - could you help here, please? ;-) I'll attach my patch - it does not
contain any configure.in related stuff, because I've hacked it without
actually knowing what 'HostName' and 'Target' means, and if it's actually
possible to make it configurable etc.

Raising priority to P2 because i had to disable the f_updt_customize.bas test
entirely. Tools/Customize dialogue is excluded from testing cycle.

Note that apparently the behaviour of the command button has changed slightly -
either it has become slower, does not open or it does not show its items at all.
The result is that the autotests throw countless warnings.

This could be fixed by sal/rtl/source/macro.hxx
OTOH it may be wrong to have CPUNAME=INTEL at all in solenv/config/sdev300.mk.
At least config_office/set_soenv.in seems to set CPUNAME=X86_64 for 64 bit
Linux.

mod-es:

when createing a note one after another, the anchors appear all at the same
place, although you are right, in reality, they are slightly next to each other

When you enter at another location now continuously text, and therefore at this
location is the real cursor, you see another one flashing at the position of all
the others notes.

This happend due to cursor travelling to each note to get the anchor position,
but ama changed this, we now get the cursor position directly from the core
code. Therefore this issue cannot not exist anymore anyways.

Thus the sort order becomes random and the only way to distinguish the documents
is their icon.

Once OpenOffice (Aqua) 3.0.0 Beta crashes on Mac OS X Leopard (Intel), the
document recovery window pops up and no matter whether I choose to recover or
cancel recovery of the document, OO crashes rendering it unusable.

I feel that this is because the distribution of OpenOffice (Aqua) 3.0.0 Beta is
missing the Recovery.xcu file.

See for example
http://www.8daysaweek.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?=p=1671

As a workaround, I copied the Recovery.xcu file from a windows installation:

C:\documents and settings\[yourusername]\application
data\OpenOffice.org2\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\Recovery.xcu

and then went to Finder on the Mac, double clicked applications, right clicked
OpenOffice.org and clicked Show Package Contents
Navigate to Contents/Share/Registry/data/org/openoffice/Office
and paste Recovery.xcu

This seemed to work for me.

When the user cancels the installation of an extension by pressing the cancel
button in the Extension Manager gui, then all files of an extension which have
already been processed (registered) need to be removed again. That's why the
progressbar does not stop immediately. Try this with the sunsearchtoolbar, and
you will understand. After pressing the Cancel button, the text to the left of
the progress bar, which saids Adding xyz, should be changed to, for example,
to Removing. Then the user sees that clicking Cancel has some effect.

When the user removes an extension and presses cancel then the already
unregistered parts of the extension need to be registered again. Therefore the
progress bar will continue to be displayed for a while after clicking cancel.
The string displayed should then change from Removing xyz to , for example,
Restoring xyz.

There is also the case when there is the same extension already installed. When
adding the extension, then the user must confirm the installation. If he agrees
the installed extension will be removed and thereafter the other one will be
installed. For the user this removing / installing is only one operation. During
that time the string Adding xyz is being displayed. Whe the user cancels the
installation then the previously installed extension will be restored again.
This should also be expressed by a suitable string.

In short, here are the three cases again:

1. Adding. The extension is not yet installed.

2. Adding. The same extension was already installed.

3. Removing.

Thanks for making the changes.
You should also fill in the license and license_URL fields.

But the LGPL is still fairly problematic with fonts especially wrt. the
embedding problems. It's really not designed with fonts in mind. A PDF document
containing elements of a font under LGPL is more of a Combined Works than an
aggregate. I don't think we want to force users redistributing that PDF to have
to be subject to LGPL 4d0 or 4d1 (conveying Minimal Corresponding Source and
Corresponding Application Code // conveying Corresponding Source or installation
information).

IMHO you really need a font-specific exception to deal with that or as suggested
earlier a font-specific license which deals explicitly with embedding and does
not influence the license of the resulting document like the OFL (wich is
FSF-validated and widely used for fonts).

Choosing the OFL would also permit taking in the extra symbols from other open
fonts like Marvosym: http://www.marvosym.com/ and enrich the symbols offering
for OOo.

To add the License field in FontForge:

- in the Menu: Elements- Font Info...
- In that dialog: select the TTF Names entry on the left.
- Click on New.
- Scroll down (by keeping the mouse down) to English (US) for the language of
the field
- Left-click in the String ID column for that row and choose License field
- Right-click in the String column for that row and select Import to put the
desired license text in the String for a separate file.

Same idea for License URL.

You may consider Vendor URL and Designer / Designer URL too.

(BTW, you can see there's an OFL button right there too to make it easier to
populate the fields with the right metadata if you want to release your font
under OFL. It's recommended by the fontforge author).

Obvious when running the i_opt.bas Test from Graphics, Testcase
tiAlwaysWithCurrentPage. In a running full screen presentation normally we call
the navigator with CTRL-SHIFT-F5. This does not work. The test brings the office
window infront of the presentation window which cannot be accessed anymore.

I have recently installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my laptop and can provide a few more
comments:
1. When I open the attached OO documents MatlabFigure.odt and MatlabFigure1.odt
in Linux they already look wrong, i.e. the same a the exported PDF. I didn't
know this as in Windows they will open fine (but the exported PDF is not OK as I
said before).
2. The Equation.odt document opens fine in Linux and also looks OK when export
it to PDF (unlike Windows system).
3. When I paste a Matlab figure into Word as an Enhanced Metafile and save it
(see my last attachment) then it opens fine (in Linux and in Windows) and
converts fine to PDF (in Linux but not in Windows!)
Does it make any sense? I am not sure... maybe this is something to do with
pasting. In word you have a choice of metafile or enhanced metafile.

One of our component stress tests hangs frequently. I have created a pair of
simple service and client components that demonstrate the issue.

Client TestComponentA has a XMain::run method that essentially
does the following:

...
  for ( int i = 0; i  mNumberOfIterations; i++ ) {
Reference XInterface compAXInterface; // inside loop
compAXInterface =
  getRemoteObject(mComponentContext, mUnoObject, mPort);

if ( compAXInterface.is() ) {
  DEBUG_LOG(Cycle   i   have remote object);
}
  }
...
Where:
mComponentContext is the local ComponentContext
mUnoObject is ComponentA
mPort is 8100

getRemoteObject() gets the remote object reference from the
 com.sun.star.bridge.UnoUrlResolver service resolve()
 method with the following URL

uno:socket,host=localhost,port=8100,tcpNoDelay=1;urp,Negotiate=0,ForceSynchronous=0;ComponentA

ComponentA is a singleton service.

TestComponentA::run() hangs at in the destructor of compAXInterface after
anything between 10 iterations and several thousand iterations.

In the attached TestComponentA_pstack_6507.txt, thread 1 is in the destructor
for compAXInterface, this call is blocked in osl_joinWithThread which is waiting
for thread 2 according the gdb.

Thread 2 is the writer thread which is blocked acquiring a mutex. The
corresponding reader thread has finished. I suspect this thread set
the mutex.

The attached ComponentA_pstack_6502.txt also has some blocked threads.

The actual sources used are attached in TestComponentA_sources.tgz.
After building ComponentA and TestComponentA,
 ./bin/runTestComponentA.ksh -n 1
will normally reproduce the problem.

Environment:
OOo 2.3 URE/SDK built with standard STL and with
cppuhelper/component_context.cxx changed to remove the :unsafe environment.
URE/SDK built on Redhat EL 5 32 bit.
Test run under 64 bit RHEL5.
Both components run using the uno executable.

Also get same problem with OOo 2.2 URE/SDK although it doesn't seem to
fail as often.

I recently installed OO 3.0 beta.
It always wants to take over the entire screen.
This is a regression, as an old OO version used to do the same thing.
OO2.4 does not do this.

If it is user preference, there needs to be instructions on how to disable it.

It's really annoying to open a document, presentation, spreadsheet and have it
take over the entire screen.

the owner has 'hr'

Joerg B. might/could be the mantainer, I am still not sure why he isn't on the

Analysis: If we have the text: word1word2 with Arial applied as a hard
formatting on the whole paragraph and Times applied to word2. Then a format
reset on word2 will first remove the Arial attribute from the paragraph and
apply it to the characters inside the paragraph. During the portion building
process, the new text attribute Arial will be split into two pieces, one
covering word1 and one covering word2. The second piece of the Arial attribute
will be merged with any existing attributes on word2, therefore the Times
attribute will be deleted.

Possible fix: When moving hard attributes from the paragraph to the text
(hintsarray) in SwDoc::RstAttrs() we could pass the DONTREPLACE flag and act
accordingly in the BuildPortions() function.

The project lead of the affected project can be considered the default owner. If
in doubt RE (hjs,hr,rt etc) can help you or program management (mh). Or just ask

No, I think the version is describing the first version where the problem
appeared.
The OpenOffice developer do know that the bug is still valid for OO 2.4.1 and
3.0, but they just don't care.

So please vote for this bug. And tell everybody you know to do the same.

In Impress (and this was also in 2.x), when I am editing a slide, after
double-clicking to edit the text, often (usually) the last line of text is not
displayed. I would upload a picture, but I don't see and upload thingy here.

The formatting of lists (numbered and with bullets) is changed when a file is
saved in Word 97/2000/XP format. In particular,

* The indentation is changed for numbered lists.
* Continuation paragraphs are changed into normal paragraphs and their
indentation lost.
* The spacing of between the number or symbol and the text is changed.
* New list formats are gratuitously created (e.g. WW8Num1, WWW8Num2, etc.) and
are applied to existing lists.

I have submitted this bug as a Priority 2 (must be fixed in next release)
because OOo is used in a work setting which is predominantly Microsoft-based.
Therefore, I cannot use OOo if it does not seamlessly work with Microsoft format
files.

I will submit an example file.

Hi guys,

I think this one is simple too old for being recognized, and , as far as I
know, it was originally created as feature request. Why do I think so ?

Because I reported it a second time as issue 88313
(http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=88313). I got an answer that
this bug was reproducible, and it was reassigned twice. It was *not* marked a
duplicate of this one...
As target milestone originally OOo 3.0 was given, however that was lastly
changed to 3.x. Hopefully just because it was too close to the 3.0 release
date and not because no one wants to fix it.

Well maybe you can vote for the new bug report to get this done. For me the
importance deceased because I finished my PhD tests and I definitely know I am
not going to write anything for a while...

Regards, Sven

The Extension Manager File Dialog by default shows all filetypes, and not only
.oxt files and .zip files. This can make selecting the right file harder for the
user; the default filetype should be OXT/ZIP.

While this appears to have been closed because of duplication, the other mention
of this bug is now closed. There is a very helpful suggestion made regarding
the issue in the first mention of the bug. Superscript footnotes that are
inserted by Insert| Footnote should not allow continued superscript styling.
Otherwise, a cursor placed next to the footnote creates a problem where it is
impossible to break out of superscript style.

I agree with burmashave: I too do not understand why this issue has not been
reclassified as a defect. It is way past the point where is could be called an
RFE.

I cannot use OpenOffice at work unless is seamlessly supports Microsoft format
documents, and they support OTF.

Note: My version of KWord (1.6.3) supports OTF.

When choosing the option File-Send-Email as Microsoft Word... the user cannot
choose which version
of Word to send to the email app for emailing. It appears that Writer defaults
to MS Word 97? It would be
really good to have the same Word format options that are available in the Save
As dialogue, i.e. Word
97/95/v6/2004 etc..

fpe asked me to provide changes for Czech CSS files for online help and because
I remember there were
issues with them I promised to provide them.

But today, I compared to-be-2.4.1 and DEV300_m17 help rendering. They both have
the same CSS files.
to-be-2.4.1 shows help completely OK on Mac OS X/Intel (see attached image #3).
DEV300_m17 on the
other hand doesn't show some letters with diacritical marks (see the word
Nápověda in the header line of
the help page on image #1). When I select the header line, the letter 'ě' is
shown (image #2).

CSS files are the same though...

I introduced a new event VCLEVENT_COMBOBOX_SETTEXT, which triggers the creation
of wrappers for the list and the edit child objects of the combo-box.

However, since the list items seem to get thrown away and recreated every time,
the only reliable seems to be the object:text-changed events emitted by the
combo box edit field.

Fixed in CWS aqua11y02.

OOo 3.0 beta Italian.

Start Calc, then Data - Datapilot - Current Selection - Options (Dati -
Datapilot - Selezione Attuale - Extra).

The string Risultato da appears, meaning Result from.

But, from help and actual behavior, it is clear that it should be Risultato
in, meaning Result in.

So: Replace Risultato da by Risultato in in UI and OLH.

Although it looks hard to fix because of very long report, it seems to be
fairly easy.

PLCF.hxx contains the method dump which is not used. By commenting it, the
warning is gone.

Sample patch attached. Maybe it makes sense to comment it out for
OSL_DBG_LEVEL=0 os something
similar...

If Notes text is edited in an RTL environment, the cursor position - and
sometimes the text position - may be wrong.

Steps to reproduce:
0. Switch to RTL mode and use western language
1. Create a new document and insert a note
2. Start writing text inside the note

Expected Result: The text is aligned left, the cursor is at the current text
editing position.
Current Result: The text is aligned left, the cursor starts at the right side of
the Note and moves left when more text is inserted (and fills the line towards
the right side). Please refer to the attached screenshot; the black line in the
Note represents the cursor.

Found in build Win-XP2-374-notes5-install_sets.

The Insert Special Character dialogue does not keep track of recently
inserted characters. I think it should. A History bar would be very helpful.
Personally, I use and reuse only a set of special characters. Currently, I am
wasting my time browsing for the same characters in the huge font list.

Attempting to edit a large bulleted list with multiple sublevels of bullets
results in the following:

  1) The display takes two or three seconds to redraw itself.
  2) Adding new bullets takes two or three seconds.
  3) Modifying existing bullets takes one to three seconds.

All these issues are taking place on a Pentium Core Duo 2 1.6GHz with 2GB of
RAM. This issue did not exist in v2.3 of OpenOffice.

When pasting material into OpenOffice.org that uses basic quotation marks
(straight quotation marks that don't match the font being used, like you often
see on Web pages), OpenOffice.org doesn't change them even though Custom
Quotes is selected under Tools AutoCorrect Custom Quotes. The result is
that quotations marks that are typed are custom and those that are pasted are
not.

There should at least be a way to change them without going back and changing
each one individually. For example, this can be done in Microsoft Word by using
Find Replace. You type a quotation mark in Find and another one in Replace and
Word automatically makes the replaced quotation marks custom.

I just downloaded installed OOo 3.0.0 Beta tonite (Jun 6 2008). While setting
it up, I discovered that there is no place to set the default path to the user's
files. In v2.4 under |Tools|Options|OpenOffice.org|Paths| there is a document
type called My Documents where you can set the path. But that document type
is missing from 3.0.0 Beta.

Actually, I would like to be able to set separate default paths for each type of
document (Writer, Calc, Impress, Base). As a heavy user of Microsoft Office for
more than 10 years, I have so many of each type of files that I like to keep
them segregated into their own directories under My Documents.

(I'm running Windows XP Home SP2 on a 'white-box' pc with an AMD Duron 950mhz
processor 1gb ram.)

Thanks,
Tim

When you export two tables, one on top of the other, to word 97-2003 format,
two tables get merged as one. I have attached examples.

TableMerge1.odt is the original. Note that the two tables have different
number of columns

TableMerge2.doc is the exported to word document. You can use Word Viewer,
Mord Pro, or OO to verify the two tables got merged together

TableMerge3.odt is what the merged table mess looks like in 00

Please fix this in 3.0

Many thanks,
-T

Hi All,

When you have two tables with a line between them, you currently have
to position the cursor on the blank line and press delete. Pressing
the backspace key does not work. This is not intuitive as it does
not match the behavior of the rest of the of the work processor.
In a regular text edit, pressing the backspace key would have removed the
line.

Please fix this in 3.0

Many thanks,
-T
