You change the top left label and after pressing 'synchronize labels' all other labels are updated. In the current use case the synchronization after having filled the labels with data doesn't make sense. In this respect it is not a bug but a usability flaw. It's probably useful to change the mail merge function so that the resulting documents don't contain links. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. If you choose YES in the 'Update Links' box that appears when printing, then the problem is apparent. Choosing NO avoids the problem. This is very misleading as when the dialogue box appears, YES is highlighted and seems the correct option to choose, which is what I was doing. Can I suggest some changes to this function to avaoid leading the unwary into these frustrating problems? Many thanks. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=105722 User merlinpilot changed the following: What|Old value |New value Status|CLOSED|UNCONFIRMED Resolution|INVALID | --- Additional comments from merlinpi...@openoffice.org Wed Oct 28 21:01:43 + 2009 --- I have just downloaded and installed OOo 3.1.1 (OOO310m19(Build:9420) on my Windows XP Professional computer. The same problem is apparent - whenever I check the 'synchronise labels' box and print to file, I get pages of the first record as before. If I uncheck the box, it works. Printing direct to the printer seems to work. Also, when using the 'Data to Fields' button on the initial document, all the data fills the labels correctly (only one page of course) - the problem comes with using 'print to file'. So, I have now seen this on two Ubuntu computers and XP professional. I will check again on Vista computer when I next have access to it. It's as if the 'Next Record' function is not working from label to label, only from page to page. Grateful for your assistance. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Status in “openoffice.org” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: openoffice.org Whenever I use the Synchronise Labels function having set up the Master Label, the resulting output produces a number of pages equal to the number of data records (150 in this case). Each box correctly has a next record field immediately after the last merge field. The first page labels are all the same, using the first data record information. The second page has the second record information in the top left box, but all the other boxes are filled with the first record information. This sequence progresses through all the pages with only the top left box having the next record. I have tried many ways of inserting the fields and every time I use the Synchronise Labels button, the same happens. If I create the Master Label and then copy and paste it to the other boxes without having previously enabled the synchronise labels function, everything works OK. I have tried the same thing with my Laptop (Ubuntu 8.10, OOo 2,4) and the same thing happens. I have carefully followed instructions from the documentation and also tutorials to create labels, and I am left concluding that there is a bug - but I find it difficult to imagine that I might be the first to find this.
