[Alsa-user] problems with usb headset
Hi, i have a usb headset (gembird GEMBIRD AP-5.1) which has an own sound card in it: I compiled the 1.0.11 alsa, drivers, lib and tools from yesterday. The modules are loaded well. I have it running on a SuSE 9.3. When I use the headset to watch videos, I have great sound. Also when I use the headset to listen to myself, then I can use kmixer to make the input and output channels loud and silent. works well. Nevertheless, I want to use the headset with my sip softphone. Unfortunately when I move the input or otput mixer up and down it only affects my side, it gets louder and silent in the speakers, but on the other side i am still hearable. I also can mute the microphone and the other side of the call is still able to listen to me. Another thing is, not so much important: along the USB cable, where the sound card is in, there is a + and - button for louder and silent, and a third button with a headphones, These three do not work. The only button is that works is the one to mute the microphone. I tried with twinkle and with kphone on the above mentioned SuSE Linux. As the sound is great for watching videos, it would be a pity when I cannot use the headset when on the phone. So is there anything that can be done to make it work? kind regards Sebastian Apr 20 14:55:40 test kernel: usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4 Apr 20 14:55:40 test kernel: input: USB HID v1.00 Device [C-Media USB Headphone Set ] on usb-:00: 1d.1-2 Apr 20 14:55:42 test kernel: snd_hwdep: module not supported by Novell, setting U taint flag. [Alsa-user] restart after a snd_pcm_drop() call
Hallo, for several times I want to start, drop and - after a prepare call - eventually restart my capture stream. Unfortunately I cannot get data after the first snd_pcm_drop() call any more. The documentation tells me that this function enters the SND_PCM_STATE_SETUP and a snd_pcm_prepare() seems to be successful. However, a snd_pcm_wait(handle, -1) leads to a crash of the program. If I leave out the wait() call, the program is going on but - as mentioned above - nothing is captured any more. It does not even work to loop the entire program including open, set parameters, close etc. If I understand the documentation properly I have done it all right. So is this really a bug or do I just have to use a different function or maybe to set a particular parameter. Thank you for your answer! -- Analog-/ISDN-Nutzer sparen mit GMX SmartSurfer bis zu 70%! Also when I use the headset to listen to myself, then I can use kmixer to make the input and output channels loud and silent. works well. By input and output you mean exactly what ? The inputs of a soundcard usually have two controls: one to control the mixing in the master sound output, and one to control the mixing while capturing. The first one allows for signal loopback of the input to the output (in your case when you are hearing your own voice) while the second is what gets captured by the applications. In alsamixer the first one is in the playback control screen, while the second in the capture screen - press Tab to cycle the various screens. RE: [Alsa-user] Ricoh Co. RL5c475 and Layla cardbus
Hi. Thanks for your reply. Lspci gives the Motorola DSP chip that is on the cardbus, but not the Layla itself. In hardware manager, the DSP chip also shows up, and disappears when the card is removed. It also shows the DSP chip is driven by the Layla24 drivers, which means that my drivers are probably wrong. There is a long thread at http://lalists.stanford.edu/lad/2003/03/0160.html discussing the lack of drivers available for the Layla 24 Cardbus. There is source available in C++, but I don't know if I have the experience to compile something. Thanks for your help.--Mike Nolley Celebrate Earth Day everyday! [Alsa-user] Problem with aplay
Hi, I am using Dual bootable system FC5 and RHEL4 on Toshiba Satellite Laptop. SO in an all talking in terms of kernel versions, i have 2.6.16 FC5 kernel,2.6.16-7 vanilla kernel, 2.6.9-34 RHEL kernel. My problem is that i want to configure my Intel Modem 00:1e.3 Modem: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC'97 Modem Controller (rev 03) So i downloaded slmodem and compile it but it falied. Same happened with FC5 and RHEL 4 kernels. FC5 kernel uses 1.0.11 ALSA packages,RHEL uses 1.0.6 ALSA packages Then i downloaded Vanill 2.6.16-7 kernel and my modem got configured. This can be checked with aplay -l command. On FC5, RHEL 4 i got only List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices card 0: ICH6 [Intel ICH6], device 0: Intel ICH [Intel ICH6] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: ICH6 [Intel ICH6], device 4: Intel ICH - IEC958 [Intel ICH6 - IEC958] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 but on Vanilla 2.16-7 kernel i got 3 entries including Modem also. Why such things happened? Also then when i restart 2.6.16-7 and reboot it no modem entry but when i boot to FC5 i got those 3 including modem detection in aplay -l why such things are happening? i want aplay -l to show modem entry also?
