[android-developers] NDK, Qualcomm AR Toolkit and complex 3D models

2012-06-01 Thread Rajesh Singh
Hello.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience loading up any complex 3D
models with the NDK in conjunction with using the Qualcomm AR Toolkit?

Need to know if anyone has any good examples, ideas or hints? Everything
I'm doing to attack this problem is failing. Can load up the data in C++
but can't get my binding to the GL buffers working as I would expect it too.

Cheers,
Raj

[android-developers] Why can't someone at Google answer this question????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

2012-06-01 Thread Jim Morris
There is nobody to talk to at Google

I thought Google Android people are supposed to be watching this
forum!

Somebody in Poland responded to ask for code, I sent it and then
nothing1

How are we supposed to develop software if we can't get some
support??

I have developed an Android app that communicates with a Blue Bamboo
Bluetooth printer. I have no trouble communicating with the printer
on
a galaxy P-6210 (Android 3.2). I purchased a P-3113 (Android 4.0.3).
When my app runs on the P-3113, I get the following problem.
When the P-3113 is trying to pair with the Blue Bamboo printers, it
asks me to type in the pin number for pairing, but the device was
already paired before the app started up!!! Why does it ask me
for
a pin number again, when the devices are already paired?
When I enter the pin number again, the device will still not connect.
The problem occurs on the device running version 4.0.3 regardless of
whether my software is targeted for version 4.0.3 or version 3.2.
I can supply the manufacturer's demo software source code, which also
exhibits the same problem.
I believe this is a bug introduced into Android 4.0.3. The software
works fine on Android 3.2 on a Galaxy P-6210.
I have traced the problem to the statement
mmSocket.connect();
When this statement is executed, a dialog box pops up on the Galaxy
P-3113. This dialog box asks for the user to input a pin code for
pairing, BUT THE DEVICE IS ALREADY PAIRED. I type in the correct code
and I get an invalid exchange exception. The code is correct!! The
device is already paired!!
How could this not be a bug? Hey Google,.
how about some help here.

There will always be some questions, which you would yourself have to find
answers, and may be someone would answer eventually, but don't know when.

Coming back to your problem, if you think it's a bug, then file a bug for

google on their bug tracker.

Your question screams. And for a forum, I don't think that's good. At

   My point is that Android OS is a linux based system, where you cant exec
   MS-DOS/WINDOWS binary executable files like those with .exe extension
   (at least not directly, you can do it with some using WINE for example,
   but thats another history...).

   Also if you develop your application the common way, i.e. in Java with
   Android SDK, it will run on a sandbox within the system, on the Dalvik
   VM, so your chances to execute native code are even less (though I think
   you can use JNI for the task), and to be honest I do not know how to do
   that and what issues you may found (may be you need even a rooted
  device).

   Anyway, the point is that you cannot execute a Micro$oft .exe binary
   file within your Android device. And installing WINE or something for
   the task seems to be too complicated for just considering it.

   Maybe I am wrong anyway.

2012-06-01 Thread Kristopher Micinski
I would generally say that while google employees occasionally follow
this forum, their input is strictly limited to advice on things that
are considered fairly sticky (advanced uses of the api that aren't
made clear in the documentation), clarifying the correct specification
of what pieces of the system are, or clarifying what is and is not
okay to do, and not spending time looking into specific problems
people have. However, I would suspect that you could produce a much
stronger argument by putting a lot of thought (in the form of a patch)
into your argument, at the system level..

Hi,
Recently I am developing an NFC application which interacting with
contactless ISO 7816 smartcard.
Instead of deploying to the real android devices for testing, I would
like to create a development environment on using Android virtual
device with NFC emulation.
Is there any AVD that can be able to support NFC emulation?
Besides, I have a usb contactless card reader that can read smartcard,
is it possible to connect the reader with the AVD so that I can
emulate NFC contact?

[android-developers] How is this done? App uses fortran and executable?

2012-06-01 Thread Brian Van Der Wagt
So, I have been interested in a project that is on kickstarter that
hasn't got any traction, but has done a few interesting things. They
have more or less ported Octave and gnuplot to Android. This is cool
and all that, but I am wondering how is that possible? The reason I
ask that (excuse my ignorance, I am just started with NDK), is because
A: Octave includes Fortran code and my book about the NDK says it
supports C and C++ only and B: Can you include executables in an
Android application? Is that what they are doing?
Here is the project I am talking about:

 Instead of deploying to the real android devices for testing, I would

 Is there any AVD that can be able to support NFC emulation?
 Besides, I have a usb contactless card reader that can read smartcard,
 is it possible to connect the reader with the AVD so that I can
 emulate NFC contact?

[android-developers] Get locals

2012-06-01 Thread marie
Hi everyone,
I wanted to use the locals structure in dalvik/vm/interp/Interp.c
but I found that it has changed:

#if 0 // locals structure has changed -- need to rewrite this
int j;
DexFile* pDexFile = method-clazz-pDexFile;
const DexCode* pDexCode = dvmGetMethodCode(method);
int localsSize = dexGetLocalsSize(pDexFile, pDexCode);
const DexLocal* locals = dvmDexGetLocals(pDexFile,
pDexCode);
for (j = 0; j  localsSize, j++) {
if (locals[j].registerNum == (u4) i) {
name = dvmDexStringStr(locals[j].
pName);
break;
}
}
#endif

  I want to know the new structure code and how can Get locals ?
thx

Yes, they do. They give you the path to external storage, whatever the
device manufacturer decided that external storage would be on a given
device. That may or may not be an external sdcard. Anything beyond
what the device manufacturer declared as being external storage is
beyond the Android SDK.

 The path for the galaxy 2 7 is /sdExtCard.

If that is not what Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() returns,
then there is nothing in the Android SDK that will return that path.
Whether or not your application can use that path, what goes on at
that path (e.g., card ejected), etc. is beyond the SDK.

[android-developers] ObjectInput.readObject() for reading a file object didn't work's when the version of the app is newer than the older app wich creates the object

public ListFullMagazine downloadedMagazines = new
ArrayListFullMagazine();//todos los magazines bajados
public Magazines ms=null; //Esta clase contiene el array de previews de

And i use these methods to store the class (SaveState object) in the sdcard
and to read the object from the file into an object again:

public static void saveData(){
ObjectOutput out;
try {
//primero comprobamos si existe el directorio, y si no, lo creamos.
File folder = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() +
/Couche/);
if(!folder.exists())
folder.mkdirs();

File outFile = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(),
/Couche/appSaveState.data);
out = new ObjectOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(outFile));
out.writeObject(saveState);
out.close();
} catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();}
}

public static void loadData(){
ObjectInput in;
try {
File inFile = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(),
/Couche/appSaveState.data);
in = new ObjectInputStream(new FileInputStream(inFile));
saveState=(SaveState) in.readObject();
in.close();
} catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();}
}

I store the object and each time my app is closed and i read the object

[android-developers] ObjectInput.readObject() for reading a file object didn't work's when the version of the app is newer than the older app wich creates the object

2012-06-01 Thread saex

i have this class:

public class SaveState implements Serializable {
private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
public ListString downloadedMagazinesIds = new ArrayListString();//id's de
revistas descargadas
public ListString downloadedMagazinesSummaries = new
ArrayListString();//página sumario de cada magazine
public ListFullMagazine downloadedMagazines = new
ArrayListFullMagazine();//todos los magazines bajados
public Magazines ms=null; //Esta clase contiene el array de previews de
revistas generado con el parser de XML
}

And i use these methods to store the class (SaveState object) in the sdcard
and to read the object from the file into an object again:

public static void saveData(){
ObjectOutput out;
try {
//primero comprobamos si existe el directorio, y si no, lo creamos.
File folder = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() +
/C/);
if(!folder.exists())
folder.mkdirs();

File outFile = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(),
/C/appSaveState.data);
out = new ObjectOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(outFile));
out.writeObject(saveState);
out.close();
} catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();}
}

public static void loadData(){
ObjectInput in;
try {
File inFile = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(),
/C/appSaveState.data);
in = new ObjectInputStream(new FileInputStream(inFile));
saveState=(SaveState) in.readObject();
in.close();
} catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();}
}

I store the object and each time my app is closed and i read the object
from the sdcard each time my app is opened and it works fine. The problem
comes when i created a newer version of my app (1.01). When i start the app
and i try to read the file from the sdcard the file is readed but all the
variables of the object class are empty. and they are really not empty.

What is happening? how can i avoid that?

Thanks.

If I issue a refund to a user after the 15-minute refund window, does
the Android Licensing know about this? i.e. in the licensing check
should receive a 'Not licensed' response, if the user tries to run the

[android-developers] Svg to hdpi, mdpi, ldpi

2012-06-01 Thread Jeremy Villalobos
I seems that no manner how minimalist I am with my app, I always find new
icons, pictures, menus that need to be added to my projects. However,
given all the screen that I have to support with Android, it is a little
tedious to create one icon for each screen resolution. I see the action I
do to cover multiple screen are not rocket science, so the computer could
be helping me with this task.

It would be nice to have a folder for svg's on the Android project
(Eclipse), and have a tool that automatically creates the icons for each
screen based on the svg provided by the designer.

On build, the plugin creates the png's from the svg's, but the svgs are not
added to the release package.

Is there such a tool ?

[android-developers] Re: ApiDemos/OS/Sensors application canvas drawings blurred when built with SDK level 15

2012-06-01 Thread RichardC
It's something to do with hardware acceleration, changing
AndroidManifest.xml (see below) to disable it just for the Sensors Activity
fixes the drawing

activity android:name=.os.Sensors android:label=OS/Sensors
 android:hardwareAccelerated=false

It looks like the hardware accelerated canvas is anti-aliasing the the
drawing of the 3 dials as they are drawn directly onto the Canvas. The
dials are drawn based on a 1-unit by 1-unit rectangle and the canvas is
scaled (before the drawing) by approx 1/3 the screen width (in portrait
orientation)

 canvas.scale(148, 148)

on my device.

On Friday, June 1, 2012 11:01:20 PM UTC+1, RichardC wrote:

 the canvas

 If I modify the code to draw the 3 dials onto the bitmap (the same as the
 3 line graphs) it all looks fine.

 I am continuing to look at this...

If your running Ubuntu there is a magic little program in the software

large hi-res version of the icon, and run phatch with the actions set as

 FWIW, I save my artwork as PNGs at -xhdpi resolution and then run a script
 to update the lower-res versions:

 http://kmansoft.com/2012/05/23/scale-android-drawables-with-a-script/

 Supposedly you can do svg to png conversion with ImageMagick, or with
 Inkscape:

 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9530524/imagemagick-convert-svg-to-transparent-png-with-antialiasing

 So, with just a little scripting, it should be possible to do what you're
 after.

keys are stuck, and they make you look like an idiot. I'm betting
that you probably don't want to look like an idiot.

Second, as far as I know, the people from Google who do step in every
now and then are here on their own time. In other words, they don't
owe you any response, nor does anyone else here. Sorry to have to be
blunt about it, but it's the truth. When you make an ass of yourself
(say, by posting with stuck '!' and '' keys on your keyboard), you
severely reduce your chances of getting ANY answer.

 How are we supposed to develop software if we can't get some
 support??

If you need an immediate answer that badly, you're better off paying
for support in a paid support forum. This isn't one, so you may have
to wait, and you may not get any response. And that's just the way it
is.

 I have developed an Android app that communicates with a Blue Bamboo
 Bluetooth printer. I have no trouble communicating with the printer

Start by:

A) fixing your keyboard (or replace it)
B) post the appropriate portion of the code for your app and
   any useful logcat data that might help someone who might know
   what's going on give you an answer.
C) wait patiently; remember, nobody here is paid to help you, nor
   is anyone obligated to respond at all.

Hope this helps.

[android-developers] Invoking a web service created in java

2012-06-01 Thread Bunty
Hi all,

I need to invoke a web service from android app. I have the wsdl file
of a web service created in java, i don't have the source code of the
same.

In java, i use the Generate Client option to generate the files from
a wsdl and then invoke the web service via my java app using Axis.jar.

When i click the Generate Client option the files are generated
along with some compilation errors. But the same thing when i am doing
in an java app, the generated files does not have any compilation
errors.

Please inform the proper way of doing the same from the android
prospective.

Bunty

2012-06-01 Thread James Black
What kind of errors are you getting?

It may be that you are missing a library, perhaps.

[android-developers] Re: Invoking a web service created in java

2012-06-01 Thread Bunty
No. I have got Axis.jar in my android project build path. the same
thing when i do in java project, it works excellently. But in android
project it does not.

Compilation error:

The type java.rmi.RemoteException cannot be resolved. It is indirectly
referenced from required .class files

and many more..seems like its not supported in android project.

Please help me with possible ways.

[android-developers] Re: ApiDemos/OS/Sensors application canvas drawings blurred when built with SDK level 15

2012-06-01 Thread greg
Thanks Richard!

I took your suggestion and started drawing those circles to the bitmap (via
Canvas cavas) that eventually gets drawn to the onDraw canvas. I'm glad
you solved the mystery ... I was starting to think I had dropped my phone
one time too many. :*)

 Thanks in advance for checking,

[android-developers] Re: Invoking a web service created in java

2012-06-01 Thread G. Blake Meike
This should be fairly easy to work out. I think you need two things:

1) You need to have the Ajax generated code, all the libraries that the
generated code depends on, and all of the libraries that those libraries
depend on, and so on until there are no unresolved symbols.

2) All of the stuff above has to be in your apk. All of it has to be
correctly translated from java byte codes into Dalvik byte codes.

I think your first step should be to look in your apk and see what is
there. Verify that the libs you know about, at least, are in there and are
dex files.
