[android-developers] Can't get my device (LG Escape 2) to get on adb devices list

Hi all! I'm a total newbie to Android, and I can't seem to get my device to 
be attached to my SDK platform tools! I'm still getting my initial setup 
for Android up and running, so I'm not sure what it is I'm doing (or not 
doing) that makes it so that my list of devices doesn't have anything in it.

Some info about my setup

Device: LG Escape 2
Model number LG-H443
Android version: 5.1.1
Developer options turned on
Allow Mock Locations turned on
Plugged in via USB to PC


OS: Windows 7 (64bit)
Android Studio v2.1.3 (The Android SDK location is C:\JBAndroid)
LG PC suite installed
All drivers installed for device (in the device manager it reads as "LG 
Escape 2" under "Portable Devices")

I seem to have a ton of Java updates installed! From what I read the 
Android SDK wants the 32bit version regardless of my OS. Here's what I have 
installed just so I'm not leaving anything out

Java 8 Update 101
Java 8 Update 101 (64-bit)
Java 8 Update 102 (64-bit)
Java 8 Update 91
Java SE Development Kit 8 Update 101
Java SE Development Kit 8 Update 101 (64 bit)
Java SE Development Kit 8 Update 102 (64-bit)

SDK Platforms installed
Android 7.0
Android 6.0
Android 5.1 (which I think I need for my device's Android version?)
Android 3.2 (for Game Maker Studio)
Android 2.3.3 (for Game Maker Studio)

I'm not going to list everything installed from the SDK manager but since 
the directory for the test I'm running points to the SDK Platform tools 
I'll just the 'tools' folder

-tools- (Android SDK manager)
Android SDK Tools 25.1.7 installed
Android SDK Platform-tools 24.0.1 installed
Android SDK Build-tools 24.0.1 installed
Android SDK Build-tools 24 installed


I'm trying to make some games with Game Maker Studio, which runs its own 
little test. Game Maker Studio's test shows the SDK + JDK and Keystore 
status is good, as well as the NDK status. In other words Game Maker Studio 
doesn't seem to be contributing to my issue.

>From the instructions I've read, the test I should run to confirm that my 
device is connected is the test shown in the image (in which it appears to 
fail to be listed). There's so many factors here that I'm not sure were 
best to put my efforts to trying to resolve this! Let me know if there's 
any other relevant info I'm leaving out, or if I'm not in the forum! Any 
pointers are greatly appreciated :)

[android-developers] Android studio launching wrong package

Hi,

I have created a new android studio project, renaming the package in the 
process, but Android Studio insists on trying to launch the old package 
when I 'run'. I tried deleting the gradle cache, invalidating caches in the 
IDE etc but it just refuses to launch the right package. The weird thing is 
this was working last night, the problem only began this morning!

This is what I get when I try to launch my app:

The 'com.example.blitzresearch.monkey2game' package was the 'suggested' 
package name when I created the project, but I immediately changed it (this 
was about my 3rd attempt at getting a project going with the package name I 
wanted). Thinking about it now, perhaps the project name is clashing with a 
previous attempt? I'll try again with a different project name.

I eventually found a reference to the 'wrong' package name in a project.dat 
file deep in the bowels of an .AndroidStudio2.1 folder, but this appears to 
be a binary file. Should I try deleting it?

Any other ideas?

I'm not quite clear on why one would be concerned about performance on 
presenting a crossword page?  Even if it took a couple seconds I don't 
think users would be disappointed.  It's like psychologically it's thinking 
and doing something.  Devices though are getting faster and faster.  Even 
when I did my first Android app in 2009 I put up a progress bar while it 
was doing a lot of calculations.  You could see the bar on an emulator but 
it was a quick flash on an actual device.

[android-developers] Google Play Store update is blocking GPS location on Android 4

Hello,

Since last Update of Google Play Store in July, Gps is not working on 
Android 4 (Moto-G and RAZR D3) until Google Play Store is forced to stop. 

This problem happens when the smartphone is turned on inside of a building. 
The GPS signal appears at the notification Bar and stays there for hours, 
until Google Play Store is forced to stop. During this time, GPS apps such 
as Gps Status/Waze/Endomodo just don't work. After Play Store is stopped, 
all apps that use GPS start to work again.

I have some problems while making apps.
I would like to make an android wear application which have heartbeat 
function, not a heartrate. But on android developer page, there is some

reaction of human body so we cannot use emulator. But there is one more

Provide level three production support for integration issues, in liaison
with the Application Support department, when detailed deep analysis or
source code changes are required.

Job Experience/Requirements:

7+ years of database focused IT or software development experience
including at least 2 enterprise level data solutions or architecture
projects.
5+ years experience in Data Architecture and Data modeling, Database
design, with specific experience in dimensional modeling.
5+ years of full lifecycle data warehousing experience.
3+ years minimum experience using standard ETL tools (Informatica
preferred).
Firm understanding of Dimensional Modeling and Data Warehouse concepts,
such as star schemas, snowflakes,  dimensions, facts, etc.
Strong experience with Oracle 11i or 12c
Strong experience with ETL tools (Informatica) and data modeling tools such
as E/R Studio(or equivalent).
Extensive knowledge of core ETL architectural principles such as
modularity, restartability, parallelization and table driven business
rules.
Deep understanding of information delivery architecture including the
creation of abstraction layers, SQL query paths and optimization, report
level calculations and end user reporting architecture.
Experience using data from Oracle E-Business suite preferred.
Experience in Master data management and Meta data management preferred.
Experience in assessing and closing transactional and business
intelligence/analytics data gaps in large scale heterogeneous environment
where both packaged software and internally developed software exists is
required.

[android-developers] Will Sync Adapter improve app Performance?

UseCase 1 : I have to upload my locations periodically on server.
UseCase 2 : I have to check for any new case or update from server side 
after specific time interval. 

To achieve this, I am using ScheduledExecutorService in a  class that 
extends Service. 

loc_executor =  Executors.newScheduledThreadPool(1);
loc_executor.scheduleAtFixedRate(new PeriodicLocationUpdate_Task(), 100, 
POOLING_DELAY, TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS);


If I want to use Sync Adapter in above cases, how will it improve my app 
performance ?

*THE PROJECT*


AGRILEDGER are building a groundbreaking Software Solution for these 500 
million farmers using a Blockchain-based CryptoLedger implemented as a 
Mobile App and REST Web Services infrastructure, with a specially designed 
mobile UI suitable for low literacy/illiterate users,  and suitable for use 
across different cultures and countries.

As most of the target user demographic are illiterate they have never used 
a Smart Phone, and only some  have old style flip phones, so a Material 
Design / WhatsApp UI will not work. We are also interviewing UI/UX experts 
to work on the UI so if you know an amazing UI designer please ask them to 
make contact.

*We need to build 2 different Android products; *

1.  PoC MVP App - a QUICK and simple proof-of-concept 
minimum-viable-product App that will be used to test UI concepts in the 
field and as a test harness to call the REST Web Services to resolve basic 
design problems like low latency/low bandwidth/dropped connections etc

2.  Main App - a well architected, modularly coded app 
container/framework that will host all versions of the App as defined in 
the Product Roadmap, forming the core code base.

 *There are some difficult  design issues we need to solve, including:*

- abillity to handle low latency, low bandwidth, patchy network connections 
common in these countries
- an on-demand pluggable code architecture  for the different workflows 
needed in each location
- offline cached mode allowing disconnected use and auto re-sync when 
network becomes available
- secure owner/identity management for each phone using private/public keys 
linked to phone hardware
- secure and reliable access to the published web services 

Currently there are 3 PoC underway in Kenya, Myanmar and Papua New Guinea, 
and the PoC MVP app will be used in all 3 locations, and this is needed 
URGENTLY.


*THE POSITION*


We urgently need an Android Developer/Architect Rockstar to build the 2 
Android Apps.


*Responsibilities*

• Take full responsible for the application architecture and development of 
both the PoC/MVP demo app and the main Product app.
• Design and develop a large-scale, visually appealing, scalable, 
resilient,  modular Android application capable of supporting a pluggable 
code architecture, low latency/bandwidth and offline cached operation
• work effectively with UX/UI person to design and implement a UI suitable 
for low literacy, cross cultural use
• Use best practices to minimize impacts to user experience, such as 
battery drain, ANRs, laggy UI, etc.

I am attempting to use the Google Maps API in my app, but am having trouble 
loading the maps on KitKat (API 19) devices.

On my mobile (OnePlus 3, running Marshmallow), the maps load without a 
problem, so I know the API key to be correct, however on my tablet (a 
KitKat Samsung Galaxy Tab E), there is just a blank screen with the Google 
logo at the bottom.
The last few logs on the monitor are:

I/b: Sending API token request.
E/b: Authentication failed. Timeout while trying to contact the server.

Does anyone know of anything that might cause this problem?

[android-developers] android multi touch error

Hi, I'm building an App in OpenGL ES 1.0 with multi touch gesture (three 
fingers). Works fine, but sometimes, on my smartphone API 16, go crazy and 
detect extra touchs and/or in different positions (I see the extra touchs 
enabling the function "show touchs" in dev options). I've tried on a 
smartphone with API 21, also go crazy... After few time, the system return 
to works fine, detects correctly the three fingers. I've noticed that on 
API 21 need less time vs API 16 to return to works fine... I don't know why 
this append... It's possible that my OnDraw function take more time and the 
system can't manage the touch correctly?
I noticed that during the debug with Android Studio this never append...
Someone have ideas?

Design / WhatsApp UI will not work. We are also interviewing UI/UX experts

*We need to build 2 different Android products; *

 

   1. PoC MVP App - a QUICK and simple proof-of-concept 
   minimum-viable-product App that will be used to test UI concepts in the 
   field and as a test harness to call the REST Web Services to resolve basic 
   design problems like low latency/low bandwidth/dropped connections etc 
   2. Main App - a well architected, modularly coded app 
   container/framework that will host all versions of the App as defined in

common in these countries

- an on-demand pluggable code architecture  for the different workflows

hi, thank you for your suggestion, I have already contacted Google Play 
thought different channels (i am still waiting for them to come with a 
solution), although it all feels related to google backend, i think it is 
important to have this document somewhere, when I google it I found out 
that I am not the only one having similar issues with the Developer Console 
(unexpected error...)

yesterday I also realised that that push notifications have stopped working 
too (again the game was up and working since 2013, and everything was 
working fine), it looks very related to this problem, when sending push 
notifications via gcm I am getting the following error:

Invalid Google Credentials

Google returned a 401 Unauthorized error. Your Google Server API Key is 
entered incorrectly, not enabled for Google Cloud Messaging, or 
access-restricted by IP.

[android-developers] [HTTP Url DeepLink] Avoid showing app chooser when source and target domains are same

Hi, I am working on adding support for http urls in my android app, but am 
facing a weird situation. I have an android app and a website and want both 
of these to support the same http urls. As a standard practice whenever a 
supported linked is clicked android shows the appChooser dialog to select 
an app to proceed (prior to Android M). This behaviour is fine when the 
user is coming from a different channel other than your own website. I do 
not want this appChooser dialog to be displayed if the user is already 
browsing my website on chrome and clicks on a link which is supported by 
app. Since he is already on my website on chrome I want him to go forward 
without any interruption. Let me explain this with an example: I have added 
support for http://www.mywebsite.com/xyz in my android app User opens 
http://www.mywebsite.com on chrome then clicks on http://www.mywebsite.com/xyz 
link present on the page. In this case I want the chrome to load the url 
without showing the appChooser dialog. Unfortunately, the default android 
behaviour looks to be showing the appChooser dialog irrespective from where 
the link is clicked. Is there anyway I can achieve my desired behaviour? It 
would be great if you can help me with this. Thanks in advance. Puneet

Hello All,

I have an activity screen where I'm opening some images,video,or pdf on a 
small floating layout by tapping on a specific area. Here I implement scale 
and gesture functionality to pan & zoom and also to move that view. Video 
and images are working perfectly. But in case of pdf it is not working. By 
touching on the view pdf scroll functionality taking effect and to move 
that view I have to touch on the border of that layout. here is the screen 
shot of the same. please help me out. Thanks in advance

We want to create a code that informs users that their subscriptions are 
almost up.
So, if the user opens our app an alert will show  if the subscription end 
date is lower than 3 days for example.

Is that possible ?
