[android-developers] Re: Bizarre reviews on Google Play

2013-11-16 Thread FiltrSoft
I wouldn't worry about it. No app gets 100% 5-stars and whenever I look at
an app I just look if the majority of people leave a good review. Also,
the fact that you can reply to reviews really helps. That review obviously
looks like garbage, so no one is going to take it seriously. Also, Google
should take more than just ratings/reviews when ranking apps in search (I
hope).

My app has no ads at all, and is certainly not a trojan. It certainly
can't break an ipad or ipod since it's not even available on IOS devices -
I doubt it crashes Android devices as well, but the fact that he mentioned
IOS devices shows that he's talking out of his ass. The last part of the
review is pure spam and irrelevant self-promotion.

Amazon is no better. Check out the third review from the top for my app.
I think it was someone trying to send a text message or email and got
confused and entered it as a review. I've flagged it over and over and
it's still there:

I'm posting this in part because I received a very bizarre review of my
own app earlier today, and in part because of the odd reviews I've seen at
the top of other apps' review lists. One of the Google help sites said
that my only recourse is to flag it as spam (the review in question is
actually a mix of spam and blatant lies). However, I have no confidence in
Google's ability to remove spam reviews, mainly because of the spam reviews
I've seen on other apps. Currently, the #1 review on Aquarium Free Live
Wallpaper is some nonsense about Barack Obama recommending singers. That's
been up there for months. When I saw it, I tried to do my part by flagging
it as spam, but it hasn't been taken down.
