Hi Everyone,

Just a thought.

1. How do you get trust that the reviews are safe for your unique and
amazing apps?

2. Are you free to provide you with such own keywords to use in the reviews?

3. How long does it take for reviews to appear?

4. How long does reviews stay?

5. A lot of reviews are deleted recently due to Play Store strict policy,
what if my reviews get deleted?

6. How I get notified when the order is done?

7. Do you provide app reviews for iTunes app store?

Is these significance?

Hey all,
You're right that Google rarely if ever shares release dates or promises
new features, and this post won't be any exception. I can say, though, that
we met with the PM in charge of the Play pubsite yesterday, and had a great
discussion about how to improve the review and feedback process for
everyone. I think you'll be very happy with what they've got planned.

[android-developers] Re: When can every developer reply to reviews?

2012-12-04 Thread Keith Wiley
I'm a little confused. You posted your question on 11/29. As far as I
could tell, this feature went into effect sometime around the end of
November for me. I realize all the primo developers got this six months
ago, but I assume that when it suddenly clicked on for me last week that it
also clicked on for everyone else.

Are there still developers who don't have the ability to respond to
comments and ratings?

Is Google rolling this new feature out slowly over time? When is the date
after which all developers will have it.

For my part, I have to say I have been very grateful for it. Like I said,
I've only had it a a little less than a week now, but I have put it to good
use. I must admit, I had to be very careful not to write anything snarky
or angry...it was reeeally tempting. Let's all use this new feature as
intended and not disappoint the folks at google who have entrusted us with
it.

*Cheers!*

[android-developers] Re: When can every developer reply to reviews?

2012-12-03 Thread Brill Pappin
Join the crowd ;)

Actually, when you think about it, it would actually not be a good idea to
be able to respond to people in the review comments.
You might have the best intentions, but it *would* escalate into something
you most definitely don't want in reviews.

However, you still have a problem to deal with. This is how we handled it
with a lot of success:

1) The people that usually review are those that have a reason to come back
to the app in Play and actually write a review. Your happy customers are
the ones that don't need to review anything because they forget the app was
ever not on their phone. What we did was provide a way for users to get to
the reviews in-app and even give them update information and request a
review if they are happy with the app. You can only ask once per update *at
most* however, or you will again have unhappy customers. The result for us
was that the positive reviews so out weighed the negative reviews that the
negative became inconsequential.

2) Set up a system for support and actually handle your support requests.
People have problems sometimes or they simp;y don't understand how to
operate your app. Use those support requests to improve your app and deal
with the issues first that you get the most support requests about. You can
add the support option to the same place the users has the review option...
that way if they have a problem they don't simply review poorly, they
instead ask for support. It will take you a little while to work out your
support system and it *will* be a burden for a while, but its worth the
trouble. Even if you *can't* fix a users issue, you can record the problem
in your backlog and let them know you have don that. They may not exactly
be happy, but at least they feel that someone cares about the problem.

3)If a negative review is poorly written (erroneous, swearing, raging etc)
you can ask Google to remove it and they usually will. Don't abuse the
feature, but go ahead and use it. Keep in mind there is not a single app
out there with no bad reviews, so don't remove them simply because they are
negative.

4) When you get a bad review at the top of the stack, it can be a pain and
*will* effect your sales. TO deal with this, simply modify your own review
to address the issues, usually by asking them to contact support. When what
will happen is that your own review will go to the top of the stack and be
seen first. You will find that if you implement steps 1-3 that you will no
longer need to do this, so step 4 is a stopgap while you get the rest of
those suggestions in place.

5) If your app really does suck or break or look like crap, then fix it.
That will help you reduce the need for points 1-4 and in the end costs you
less in time wasted dealing with it.

Hope that helps,
- Brill Pappin

When what will happen is that your own review will go to the top of the
stack and be seen first. You will find that if you implement steps 1-3
that you will no longer need to do this, so step 4 is a stopgap while you
get the rest of those suggestions in place.

 5) If your app really does suck or break or look like crap, then fix it.
That will help you reduce the need for points 1-4 and in the end costs you
less in time wasted dealing with it.

 Hope that helps,
 - Brill Pappin

[android-developers] Re: When can every developer reply to reviews?

2012-12-03 Thread John Coryat

Actually, when you think about it, it would actually not be a good idea to
be able to respond to people in the review comments.
You might have the best intentions, but it *would* escalate into something
you most definitely don't want in reviews.

I've found this not to be the case. Google's posting guidelines state:

*Developer Comment Posting Policy*

The public developer response feature is intended to help you resolve
problems with your application and build relationships with users. Note
that your use of Google Play is also governed by the Google Play Business
and Program
Policieshttp://play.google.com/about/android-developer-policies.html.
Please follow these policies when commenting on user reviews:

   1. *Make it clear and relevant.* Replies should directly address the
user's comment in a clear, valuable and truthful manner. Whenever you can
address the user's comment within the text of your reply, you should do so.
   2. *Be nice.* These are your users and you want to find resolution, not
burn bridges. Do not post content that is abusive, hateful, or threatens or
harasses others. Also, do not engage inappropriate user comments through
   replies. Instead, read our posting
guidelineshttps://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/bin/answer.py?answer=138329
 for
users, and how to report inappropriate
commentshttps://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/bin/answer.py?answer=113417.

Note you are bound to follow our posting policies regardless of the nature
of the message you are replying to.
   3. *Don’t solicit or promote.* Users do not find solicitations and
   promotions relevant or useful.
   4. *Keep it clean.* Don't post content that is sexually explicit or
   contains profanity.

The use of this feature is a privilege, not a right. Failure to observe the
above guidelines and any other Google Play terms may result in a suspension
of your application or publisher account as outlined in the Google Play
terms. Please also note that this feature is currently available to a
limited number of developers and we hope to roll it out for broader
availability gradually.

Google prefers developers not engage the crazies. I think that's a good
policy.

I've also found that a good percentage of users who post poor reviews will
revise them if they were confused, didn't understand a feature or were
satisfied by the developer reply. It's very satisfying to see this and
something that can only happen if we can reply to these poor lost souls.

Agreed but that does not tell us when, mere mortal developers, will be able
to answer those poor confused souls...
It seems that is it going to stay beta forever.

I agree 100% and being able to do so, despite your best efforts, you are

a problem.
Instead, I think he should develop strategies that help his users help him.

If someone starts to get into it I just reply with something like Please
contact us directly to resolve your issue. and leave it at that. They can
rant all they want after that.

Inevitably, as you suggest, there will be an issue. In my experience, it's
fairly rare and eventually they just stop being a PITA and go away. It's
impossible to fix crazy. Best to ignore them.

Updates to old reviews. Sadly reviews are only upgraded when the old review

Alternatively the developers should be able to rate/comment on the users.
 This rating would
show up on their comments. For example:

User Comment
This is a POS. Don't buy as I cannot download this to my iPhone!

User Rating
Stupid (Which means: You can ignore anything from this user as he
can't even tell the
difference between an iPhone and an Android).

:)

10 / 10 stars because he made fun of my

names making it even harder to contact them (sometimes you'd get lucky and
the name/date would coincide with someone in the purchase history) now they
have no reason at all to behave

2012-11-30 Thread Παύλος-Πέτρος Τουρνάρης
Sometimes it is vital to answer at comments, because people will check the
reviews and might see the stupid comments mentioned above and decide not to
download it, which leads in less downloads and money lose in cases.

Good question. I hope Developer comments will not stay in perpetual beta,
with approved developers and second class developers.

I also get a fair share of user comments that prompts a reply:

 - user making totally false and misleading claim (and I'm not talking
about not agreeing with personal opinion of user here)
 - user making support request
