It is because someone at BMC hard coded dummy.host.com into the server binary
files. I am guessing that some junior programmer put it in some shared
library as a temporary fix for something and never got back to replace it with
a call to find the current domain when they needed FQDN somewhere.

If you want to see you can go to the bin directory for the ARS system and do a
grep
   grep dummy.host.com *
On my 7.6.04 SP3 201201302357 I find 26 matches. I see the same error from
time to time usually when accessing the serveradmin plugin.

Hello List,

Error:Cannot establish a network connection to the AR System server
:server.dummy.host.com : RPC: Success (ARERR 90)

This error only occurs, On the report creator form; while modify, search,
create a report. Also, this affects the report selection from table, loading
each line.

Resolution: add server.dummy.host.com to the /etc/host file.

I'm trying to understand, why the application is looking for dummy.host.com.
Can anyone assist? hopefully, a solution that allows us to remove the entry
from etc/host.

Background: Upgraded from 7.5P4 to 8.1.00 P2 Hotfix ARS on UNIX 7.1 and 11g.

Thank you Dee.

Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: Analytics report - difference in Summary and Detail sheet.

2014-05-09 Thread Stroud, Natalie K
Harry:

I don’t think so. But without more information about both your report and the
exact difference you are seeing between your summary chart and detail table,
I’m afraid we can’t help you much. I am very sorry.

It would help us to help you if you could answer these questions:

1. How many queries are in your report and what information does each
pull?

2. Exactly what information does your pie chart show? Count of tickets by
resolved month?

3. Exactly what information does your table show?

4. How is the information in the chart different from what is in the table?

Thanks,

Re: Dynamic user-specific color coding for table field rows and columns

2014-05-09 Thread Thad Esser
Robin,

If your user base is web-only (I didn't catch your environment/version),
and if the whole row didn't have to be colored, you could color just the
Priority column by using a display only, HTML field in place of the actual
Priority field. You'd then set it with the appropriate html tag and text,
something like: font color=”$UserPref-Medium$”Medium/font . If you
really wanted to let them go wild with colors, let them specify their color
preference with the hex code (#FF) instead of a limited set of colors.
You'd still need a preference form, and a table walk to set the individual
rows, with all of the associated caveats.

Or, similarly, you could have the column be an image of a colored circle,
and they could choose the color.

Anyway, just some alternative thoughts.
Thad

Hi,

Looking at ar.h from the API-package gives you the answer:
#define AR_OPROP_MFS_WEIGHTED_RELEVANCY_FIELDS  60048
/*
CHAR; semicolon separated list of field ids mapped to weighted relevancy fields
of multi-form fts search in the format as below:
numtags;field tag;fieldid;fieldtag;fieldid..
e.g. 3;1;536870913;2;536870914;3;536870915
*/

In this case your list is empty (4/0 means CHAR with zero length), and
consequently there is no difference between the forms.

* RRR|Log - Performance issues or elusive bugs? Analyze your Remedy logs.

We created a difference report and I get some BASE forms (that were
overlaid) that have a difference in the Property list.

But when I double click on the form (in migrator) all the check marks
are green. So I create a def file on the dev and stage form and here
is what I get as the difference (and the only difference):

object-prop:
 11\60006\4\0\\60008\40\0\60009\4\0\\60010\4\0\\60018\4\0\\90002\4\23\R

 Mgmt\90010\2\1\9

object-prop: 0015\2\1\

 vs.

object-prop:
 12\60006\4\0\\60008\40\0\60009\4\0\\60010\4\0\\60018\4\0\\60048\4\0\\9

 02\4\23\Remedy Asset
 Management\90007\2\1\90008\4\1\1\90009\4\14\BMC:Asset Mgmt\

object-prop: 90010\2\1\90015\2\1\

I've eyeballed the forms as well in Dev Studio and I can't find the
 difference!

This is in reference to the AST:AssetSoftware form as an example..

Re: Dynamic user-specific color coding for table field rows and columns

2014-05-09 Thread Joe D'Souza
I had used this method described by Charles on a 6.3 system, and since
nothing has changed in the core system as far as row color configurations
for table fields since then, the method described by Charles would be the
only way to do it with the current system as well. And as Misi pointed out,
take care on table qualifications while defining the table loop, else you
would end up with a table field that does not load efficiently.

Cheers

Joe

AR System/ITMS 7.6.4 Memory

2014-05-09 Thread Koyb P. Liabt

Hi,

We have been experiencing latency, and other errors on our Remedy
Production Server. In QA, we received an RPC error.
Total memory = 24 G
Cache memory = 4 G
Buffer =  6 G
Swap = 8 G
Free memory = 150 mb.

Our Lead, who has some Linux, and no Remedy Development - advised us to
ignore the 150 mb, because with Linux, as long as the server has the 5G of
cache, then Remedy will use the cache so he sees no reason for concern. It
appears as if Remedy is not using the cache though based on the performance.
Our Lead stated - unless there is an error in the Remedy logs that
states memory low - then we do not have a memory issue. Over the last few
days, the free memory went from 1 Gb to 150 mb free. However I was told that
this is how Linux works, and there really is no problem at all. Also, this
is a Remedy system where the tables are very large, and increasing by the
day, and there is no archiving. We are in a server group. Some team members
seem to feel that applications can run good on 150 mb of memory.

How do we know for sure if there is a memory issue (i.e. leaking memory,
wrong sizing etc)? or if Remedy is using this cached memory? Is there any
documentation regarding memory leak issues on 7.6.4?
