Re: Mid-Tier Web Page is coming up blank
I ran across something similar a few weeks ago after an upgrade. This error will occur if there is a Active Link associated with the form being opened which contains a Open Window action of type Report and the Destination field in the Active Link contains a hard return control character. Look through your Active links and remove the hard return from the Destination field (Note that the hard return shows as a solid black bar in the AR System Administrator tool) to ensure that only a valid value remains. I did go through the net and look for something similar to this and I did find something similar from back in 2005 and it was with 6.3 and it was the same thing. The lady said that it had to do with the extensions not being listed or blocked in IIS. Well I did check and correct that in IIS, yet the page still came up blank. With regards to the timezone, I changed my client pc timezone to GMT +10 Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney And when I hit the web page, this is what it is showing as the time zone: usertimezone=Antarctica%2FDumontDUrville For some odd reason, that just doesn't look correct Matt From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Frank Caruso Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2008 5:08 AM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: Mid-Tier Web Page is coming up blank ** Is there source code behind the page? I can log into the configuration page and that comes up fine. Yet when I try and go to an actual form, I get the little animated Loading... gif, then it says downloading item 10 of 16 (in the lower left corner of IE), it counts down to 1 of 16 then finishes. Then in the lower left corner it says Done. Yet the Web Page is blank. Nothing there, no errors, just a blank white web page. The strange thing is we have this same Mid-Tier version installed on other servers and all of them seem to work fine. The odd things about this server are with IIS. First it doesn't have the standard defaultWebSite it has something else. But that shouldn't matter as I've installed it under other Web Sites in IIS and gotten it to work. The other thing is, this has a specific IP specified in the Web Site identification. Yet I tried removing that and now luck either. At this point I don't know where else to look to try and figure out why this web page won't come up. Re: Midtier 7.x opens blank (white) window
A BMC KB article said this can occur if there is a Active Link associated with the form being opened which contains a Open Window action of type Report and the Destination field in the Active Link contains a hard return control character. I agree that this is the right track because I disabled all of my active links, flushed the cache and the form opened. After returning the active links to their original state I went through each active link in my log file and was not able to find a active link which contains a Open Window action of type Report. Is there a way to search a def file that contains a destination value or a Open Window action of type Report? I created an active link which contains an open window action type of report and compared it to one (def file) that that does not contain a report and did not see a visible difference. Ryan M. Symantic Endpoint Protection
My customer wants to integrate Symantic EndPont Protection 11 on an ARS 5.1.2 server/Oracle 9i DB. During testing we concluded that the AR system license tool (a flashback for most of you I'm sure) will not accept a new license even though the license is valid. Re: Ghosting remedy server
Ghost works well as long as the server you are moving to mirrors the server the image came from (E.g. same model, hardware, drive size, firmware, etc.) Also, Ghost will not work on servers with a RAID controller. I would suggest using NetBackup if you happen to find yourself in that situation. Ryan M. Obviously we would have to get the proper licenses for the development server. We anticipate that we may have issues with tables pointing to the wrong server. Are there other likely issues? We have literally hundreds of users, so we're thinking of doing an automated push via SMS to replace the existing 5.1.2 client with the 6.3 client. I have the whitepaper that describes setting up a silent install of the client, which looks good, but what concerns me is it looks like on Windows it wants to create the home directory to the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\rho\Application Data\user_ID\AR System\Home Where user_ID is the user currently logged on. That's fine and good for machines with single users, but I'm concerned about machines with many users. For example, we have several Help Desks where the analysts do not have designated machines-they rotate from machine to machine. Moreover, in the 24 hour shops, the day crew guy logs off and the mid crew guy takes his place and logs on to the same shared workstation. This installer looks like it wants to create the Home directory in one user's folder space, which might be fine for the person who installs the client, but what about the guy who comes after him and tries to use Remedy? Won't it try to use the Home directory in the first guy's folder structure?
