Re: Reporting in ITSM 7.0.1
The User Tool installation _should_ have created the ODBC DSN with minimal configuration on each Windows desktop. Then if you create AR System User Preference records for all of your users (we create them with a custom filter) you can set the report server name AND PORT, and ODBC Use Underscores = Yes in the preference record. IF your server enforces preferences (ours does) - Preference Server Options: use This Server - then everyone who logs in to the User Tool picks up the preferences from the server and their reporting works properly without manually editing the DSN. They can change their preferences later and break them (several of our accounts lost theirs during multi-server testing), but at least they will get started with the correct settings. To fix the error, I have been going into the Administrative Console of Windows, adding the User DSN by configuring the user's login name and password - is there better or easier way to fix this? After this person has been set up with the ODBC connection, they never need to configure this again and it works fine from this point on. However, we have between 500-700 users and there must be a better way than each person having to login via the ODBC connection and configure a User DSN. I thought of the System DSN was configured - then people should be able to login automatically - or is this resolved by adding Reporting Admin permission? _ Need a new ride? Re: Reporting in ITSM 7.0.1
The install created the DSN automatically. We do not have preferences set for any of the users. So I should have configure the server preference options and this would manage the login process without manually adding the User DSN? In a message dated 4/29/2008 11:48:29 A.M. Is the user that is trying to use the report console and the user under whom the AR User tool was installed the same? --- J.T.
