RE: [asterisk-users] No Caller ID Name PRI NI2
What do you mean by outbound CallerID Name? So that when calling a POTS with CallerID service from telco the Name should show up as you send it? If the answer to the above is yes, then stop trying to do that. It won't work, as the name that the POTS subscriber sees is NOT the one you send, but what the provider of that POTS line sees when the do the lookup on the name that is listed (usualy) with the number received as callerid. Ah, that clarifies things a bit. So I have to tell my telco what I want to have show up for each callerID number that I send? Hi, You're right about what Telus said, this is written in the form that I received to get one but the tech at Group Telecom just respond to me in and say that this is supposed to work with NI2 with that structure: I 1C Standard Facility Length = 21 9F Serv Discrim Networking Extensions PDU Component Begins (hex) 8B0100A10F020101... Also, in that post http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-December/071501.html The guy seem to say that caller id name is working with NI-2 When I was in line with the tech of GT, I have also tried with 5ess and it wasn't working (sorry, no trace) Can you just past the url of your post about Telus? Yep, on one of my NI2 PRI's I had to add a wait(1) before I answer, otherwise CallerIDName did not show 94.52% of the time. Seems like it might be a buglet, but it didn't seem worth looking into since the fix was so simple. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Brian West Sent: Wednesday, December 15, 2004 2:19 PM To: 'Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion' Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] No Caller ID Name PRI NI2. In my experience, ordering a PRI with NI-2 signaling is not enough, you have to specifically ask for Calling Name delivery, even though they don't charge for it. I suspect this is because if you don't ask, then they don't have to do the SS7 database dips to get the CNAM for your incoming calls, and that saves them $$$. ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

I have two PRI's coming in from two different Carriers (QWEST and ELI), both of them are supposed to be setup to pass name and number on incoming calls. Problem that I am having is that I am not receiving inbound caller id name on either PRI, the only thing that both carriers have in common is that I am terminating into a DMS switch at the carrier. immediate=yes would cause this. --Eric -- I am seeking part or full time employment in the Greater Toronto Area, My preference is part time employment with some telecommuting, but all offers will be considered. For callerid on NI2 don't you have to put a wait on there before you answer? Otherwise you miss the packet with the name in it?
