Re: Revisiting singing screen readers

Hi all, Well, after experimentation and a bit of patience, I finally learned how to make Vocaloid sing just about anything you wanted to. Note that Vocaloid Editor 3 only provides the voices. To mix in instruments you will need some kind of a sound editor. You will also need this if you are to make choral pieces of some sort. to begin, use a midi sequencer like QWS. Make sure the notes are precisely timed with the metronome though, or else you will have to normalise with Vocaloid. Not only that but Voclaoid will count any irregular notes in your song and his can mess up your lyrics.Once you set up your MIDI roll, open Vocaloid and when you open a file, choose Vocaloid MIDI from the drop down menu list. Locate the file and press enter. A list of tracks will appear. Check only one and do not bother with any of the others. Before adding lyrics, you will need to press space to play, and when it tells you that there are overlapping notes, go to the jobs menu and press
  enter on normalise. Next, go to the edit menu, and find the select all. Alternatively, press control+A. This will select all the notes in the musical editor window, which is where you need to be or else this will not work. Once you have done this, go back to the jobs menu and find the insert lyrics item. When an edit multi-line appears, you will see oh ooh ooh depending on how many notes there are. Note that each ooh represents one syllable tied to that note, so if you had a word that had more than one you would have to separate them using dashes. You cannot write any nonsense words because it will check the dictionary.Lyrical notation: For those of you who are music Braille readers or just in general, this might be easy to understand. A syllable is simply a combo of vowel and consonants like this word in quotes. When a word is more than one syllable and it evenly ties to notes, you or Vocaloid will put dashes, like this. Hel- lo I am
  des-cri-bing how to write ly-rics with Voca-loid. For words that stretch across multiple notes such as in the example Angels we have heard on High in the word Gloria, you will have to find your own-fill-in for now, but do not use dashes for this. Also make sure your MIDI files has the right number of notes for each syllable. Some people try to hush a two-syllable word into one note that is tied, so instead, separate them with MIDI and try again. Vocaloid is pretty good at analysing words though, and if you want you can use phonemes if you are dealing with a tricky word Vocaloid cannot pronounce or if you want to be really accurate. Once you have finished, check the song to make sure you have the words right. This may take time and I nearly gave up on it. After you finished, save the VSQX to your hard drive, and then you can export the result as a wave file. From now on, you will have to repeat the above steps if you want to do the same thing to the other tracks. E
 ventually you will want to establish a suffix for each wave file you are working with so you can mix them later. Note: You must install English-only voices or Spanish-only voices, or voices to another language only. It cannot be a combination of English and Spanish. Or else this will not work if you install all the voices because it will use the Japanese Lily voice by default. You will have to experiment with really slow work-arounds, like installing and re-installing voices for each track one at a time. Its a pain, but this is the best method that does not require any other form. Now that I am a pro, it takes me about five to ten minutes to write up a short song. If youd like examples, let me know.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148644#p148644

Hi.@TheTrueGamer: I dont see your point when saying things are getting too hard and you want things back to version 2.8. In your tutorials, you was the person who constantly said you was the pro player, like no one was as good as you, and you could beat us all, like the game was too easy for you etc. Now, youre saying the game is too hard so youre not a pro player anymore? Lol. And, all this doesnt make any sense now that youre banned! Okay, I might have misunderstood something and if thats the case Im really sorry.Regarding getting into the game again, I truely understand why you want that. Well, creating a new account wouldnt hurt, and the only thing which will happen is 1: You might get in the game again if youre very lucky, or 2: YOull just get a message telling you that youre banned! If you manage to get into the game again, then please do all people yourself including the biggest favor to always ha
 ve your radio turned off! And I mean, always! I think a account where the chat feature is totally disabled would be the best choice for a few players, which reminds me of Ivankon or what that crazy guy was called! Oh, my, dear!@welshweyr: I agree on what youre saying regarding people who cant explore the whole game because of the difficulty. Well, having that said, some games does really need to have places where only the best players can go. Im a level 187 player, and I suck that much so I cant loot on map 4. Well, practise and having the right skills is the trick, and that means the player really have to know what he/shes doing. So, sometimes I like that and other times I dislike that. Therell always be players who are better than you, and that&
 #039;s the cool thing about gaming. You can always try to beat players who are better than you, but that also give you the feeling that youre not good enough. Well, then you have something to work for! Aprone: If youre reading this forum before youre checking your mail, I desperatly need your reply on my mail! Re: A very interesting point my dad and I came upon

Hi all.Interesting discussion.Well, this post got much longer than I thought it would be, but I hope at leased someone is willing to read it. Im sorry if some of it sounds harsh, thats not my point. My point is to explain how things works, and to explain why I think some of the things which have been said here is either wrong or doesnt make sense to me.Saying that Windows is more userfriendly than Mac is only said by people who dont have much experiences on using a Mac. Here are some examples:How do you attach a file to a mail? You go to the menubar and search for the attach file item. No, way! Why waist your time on doing that? No, you go to your file explore, find the file, copy with command c, go back to your mail and simply paste your
  file by pressing command v. The same goes for every program you wanna import any kind of data or file into. Just copy it. the folder structure in the OS is very different, but on the Mac, it also makes sense. We can take the root folders as an example: Applications, well that folder speaks for itself. Users: Well, do I need to explain what youll find there? System, well, the whole operating system. Library, well libararies for some standard applications. And, thats mostly it! What do we have in Windows? Lots and lots and lots and lots of random stuff from programs which creates their own folders everywhere on the harddrives. Just, because they are allowed to. On the mac, programs are only allowed to create folders 3, maybe 4 places: In the applications folder, in the Library folder, in the users folder and in your documents folder if needed. Thats mostly it, whi
 ch means you know where to look if you needs to remove something manually, which is a paine in Windows.I would like to know what people find complicated to do on a Mac, and why people are saying that Windows is more userfriendly. Okay, Im not a fan of iTunes, and Im avoiding it accept for buying music which works so well that youll never imagine it. For syncing to your phone, iTunes sucks, mainly if you dont want iTunes to mess around with your music. I wont, so for that reason I dont use it. But for people who dont care, it works really great. Podcasting, well, go away. I dont want a podcasting client which changes the filenames when I download them. Internet radio, yeah, works fine, but I would like to add my own stations as well. Tv shows, well, not that many in my country. Audiobooks, well, works fine, but again, iTunes is messi
 ng with your files! Cd ripping, well, works most of the times.@Dark: There is a big difference between IOS and Mac OSX. IOS is a closed operating system and Mac OSX is not. So mainly for that reason and a ton of other reasons, you cant compare IOS with Mac OSX. I do see where youre comming from though.Kyleman123 wrote: also to add to that. interacting is one of the most stupidest things someone has ever ever invented. yeah, it clutters the screne, but on windows i can just easily skip over that clutter with one key. on mack. it will take you 4 keys to do that same one key press. this sums up a lot of stuff i feel for mac verses windows. but one thing i am suprised hasnt gotten brought up is IOS verses Android.thats truely said from someone who dont understand how interacting works. you have to remember that you can either choose to use the VO cursor like the Jaws cursor or whatever virtual cursor youre using in Windows. Then you can choose to use the standard Mac OSX commands, just like the standard Windows commands. So, lets compare the Jaws cursor to the VO cursor:The Jaws cursor reads everything across the whole screen, just as its shown visually. It will only makes sense if you read it word by word, otherwise, it just reads multiple icons at once, and mess up the layout in my point of view.the Voiceover cursor split it all up in groups, and thats the whole point of interacting. I do understand why people think its crab if they dont understand how interacting works, so Ill do what I can to explain it:Lets take the mail program as an example:At the top, we have the toolbar. Most Windows users doesnt care about the toolbar, because most
  screenreaders doesnt play nicely with those. Thats not the case with VO, but thats an other subject. When navigating to the toolbar, VOiceover just says toolbar. Then, you have two options: 1: Interact with the toolbar, and 2: move on if you dont need the toolbar. What does the Jaws cursor do? It reads the whole toolbar!If you interact with the toolbar, you have locked yourself in that persission. That means the only thing which can get you out of the toolbar is if you stop interacting. Why does that makes sense? Because you have interacted with the toolbar, because its the toolbar you wanna work with, and for that reason, all other items on the screen is not important at this moment.We can continue to the table which contains the folders. Voiceover announce table, and the selected

Microsoft has implemented it in their own operating systems starting from Windows XP and in their games consoles, and its in widespread use on many home routers (including the one owned by the OP) and has been for years.In fact, if youd like the opinion of an inside Apple staffer (and the author of Bonjour, which is an Apple-promoted specification, along with NAT-PMP) you can read this (highly biased, but still relevant) assessment of

Bonjour is often already installed with iTunes and supports more than just port mapping (local service discovery, registration of dynamic DNS names), and would support both, but regardless, this is about reducing user friction. People arent supposed to know about TCP/IP just so they can run a network game. Thats really what this comes down to. Yes, game players are often technology enthusiasts in their own right, and I would encourage people to do the thing properly, but audio games thus far have basically always opted for the easier, lousier solution of making the user responsible for opening up standard ports instead of making an effort to assist. Posts like the one which started this thread are the result.If the game server is long-lived, the machine should have a static IP on the network and a port forwarding rule should be set up for the po

But if the game server sets up a listening socket while it is running in the foreground, or if the server is not expected to run for long periods of time, or if the game needs a socket for a client-to-client game mediated by a server, then I absolutely believe it should do NAT-PMP/UPnP-IGD. Its just more convenient, arguably more secure (in the case of NAT-PMP, anyway) and more considerate.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148670#p148670

@casta947: A11Y is a shortform for accessibility, usually used on twitter. And it demonstrates my difficulty nicely. If you know what it means, all is well. If you dont, youre completely and totally on the outside. I think the same is true with LGBTQIA. Consider your reaction if I had asked you to join the International A11Y organization, without clearly explaining the meaning and purpose of the term A11Y? If I were posting on an accessibility related Forum, not explaining would be all well and good, because I can expect my audience to be familiar with the term. If I were posting on an LGBT support forum, or was trying to get more LGBT people to help with accessibility work, calling my organization A11Y International wouldnt be a particularly wise choice. If I then posted on the LGBT forum that A11Y is short for accessibility, it still wouldnt be useful, as I doubt the average LGBT community member is familiar with what accessibility means, and what exactly it involves. When posting somewhere like the audiogames forum, I think a preface along the lines of:If this is all new to you, heres the 10 cent introduction:▪L = Lesbian – a woman who is attracted physically and emotionally to other women▪G = Gay – a man who is attracted physically and emotionally to other men▪B = Bisexual – a person who is attracted physically and emotionally to both men and women▪T = Transgender – a person whose gender identity does not match his/her physical body▪Q = Queer – while the term “queer” used to be an insult, the younger generation is taking back the term in a positive light to be an all-inclusive term for the LGBT community.▪Q = Questioning – Q is sometimes used to refer to “questioning”; individuals who are struggling with their identity, with sexual feelings – unsure of their sexual orientation▪I = Intersex – this is a group of conditions where there is a discrepancy between a persons internal genitals and their external genitals.▪A = Ally – a friend or supporterFor more info:http://www.rainbowwelcome.org/faqDoing something like this clarifies everything at the start, and is more likely to get more people on board.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148677#p148677

Hi.When it comes to interacting, you can just use quick navigation. It works as follows:Turn quick nav on and off: press the left and right arrow keys at the same time.Move the VO cursor to the left or right: Left or right arrows.Click, or VO spacebar: Press the up and down arrows at the same time.Interact: Press the down and right arrows at the same time.Stop interacting: Down and left arrows.The rotor or web-rotor (also from IOS): Up and left arrow: Turns the rotor leftUp and right arrow: Turns the rotor right.The up or down arrow use the item youve selected in the rotor.Oh, I forgot to add in my privious post:Someone mentioned the item chooser and said there was a lot of items to go through. Well, the rotor which Ive just described is the answer, or you can also bring up the rotor by pressing VO u. Then
 you can switch between the categories by using the left or right arrow, and then use the selected function by pressing the up or down arrow. You can also type in what youre looking for like a search box. URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148679#p148679

Yeah I have to agree on that.Or if youre soloing a mission, a pause mission and later resume would be great. For example, you hit pause mission, The mission you are currently on has been saved to the server. You can later use the safe zone menu to resume the mission.SLJ, the thing about the snipers and all other things is how much you try. During my first sniper, I was almost certain Id loose, and while the other people were occassionally using the radio to chat, I focused so intensively it was ... well, sweaty.I dont know, I dont consider myself a good Swamp player anymore. I guess Im above average, though. Lately Ive just messed it up, well at least the last times I played swamp a long time ago.As we know, shotgun in scatter mode is awesome to cheat your way to a 250% accuracy, but it also makes you very very lazy.I used to have an aiming of about 80%, give or take. Some days it was over 95 percent, other d
 ays it was down to 60 percent so. But with the shotgun, aiming wasnt really an issue. So I started to be careless and I started to miss with other weapons.This is slightly off topic, but its the same in Alter Aeon. As we all know cases in alter is very situation-based, for example going to the ice fort without a good amount of cold and breath saves is suicide. I was so lazy, I never bothered to create another set besides my necro set. Actually at one point I created a mageset but I used it so rarely I threw it away.(btw my AA char is a real mess, well I have multiple chars hahaha)URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148683#p148683

Re: new project: Longfics: daily novel length fanfic recommendations

@brad: The actors in graphic audio often sound like theyre reading, or like theyre in a vocal booth. Though the only graphic audio I tried was deathlands, so maybe things got better? The volume of the lines is often slightly off, the acting often sounds forced, and small sounds that should be there often arent. Compare a Graphic Audio to a Big Finish production, and you should hear the difference quite clearly. For example, in the Big Finish Doctor Who episode Im listening to right now, _Invaders From Mars_, just after the doctor says I believe its usual in these circumstances to find a clue written on the back of a book of matches. India Fisher, the actress who plays Charlie Pollard, says: mmm, what, like this book of matches? But you can clearly hear a slight difference on the word what, as though she was bending over. Also, you can hear slight sounds, of her getting the book of
  matches from the ground. And when the doctor asks, Whats in it? you hear a subtle rustling, of the matchbook opening. Earlier on, when she was searching the body, the sound of getting objects from the body was different from the sound of getting objects from the ground. And when the doctor asks, Can I see the wallet? you hear a slight sound of the wallet changing hands as she tosses it to him, though its quiet enough you might not notice it unless youre listening with headphones. When the scene then changes, the background sounds make it clear enough that no narration is needed to set the scene. The music in the background, the clinking forks, and the characters accents make it instantly obvious that were in an Italian Restaurant. When the gang of thugs enters, nobody states that theyre wearing masks; the slightly muffled/echoing sound of the voices makes it clear enough. These examples are pr
 etty random, just taken from where I happened to be right this second. But that level of production can be found in every single Big Finish drama. It also allows them to do more in less time, as the sounds make everything clear enough that they dont need a narrator describing what is happening. In contrast, Graphic Audio produces dramas with long swathes of narration describing the scenes, I assume because they dont have good enough sound production and acting to stand alone without the help. Its those same small sounds, volume changes, and background noises that are usually missing in a dubbed production. Personally, I use those as almost Subconscious queues to form a mental picture of the action. So when theyre missing, its extremely annoying, and means I have to work much, much harder to follow the action of the TV show. They can also sometimes go missing from remastered soundtracks, Star Trek a
 nd The Wizard of Oz being especially bad offenders.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148684#p148684

Re: Swamp, zombie fps by Aprone

Hi there ...A few things to note, firstly, the amount of ammo you had in the mission would be saved too, so buying more ammo from the sz and then resume the mission would give you the same amount of ammo as you had in the mission before you bought ammo. Firstly, this takes rep away for cheating, secondly it prevents you from buying more ammo for a mission. Anyway, if Im going to do a hard mission I always buy like 200 medkits so I pretty much never run out ... well back when I played ... Also I said that this would be a solo feature only. And a safe zone where zombies cant get at you would be great, however maybe experience and rep should be taken away the longer you stood there, as to prevent people from standing there like truck sitting. I can easily see a safe area in a mission be badly abused, if youre being chased by a hord of zombies, np, t

Re: A very interesting point my dad and I came upon

Hi.[[wow]] SLJ. Great explanation.I know Im using an older version of Mac OS X but yes most of the concepts apply to even Snow Leopard.As for interacting being complicated, well I disagree. Its actually really useful at least in my opinion. It allows me to skip a whole bunch of crap I dont want to go through.As to the VoiceOver cursor, I think it is the best virtual cursor of all screen readers.The jaws cursor confused me with all the weird keystrokes. The new NVDA cursor is good, almost like VO.So instead of tons and tons of key commmands to move your virtual cursor, you only have 3 or so, control option left right, and space to select.Oh, and the keyboard cursor follows the VoiceOver cursor, which is really awesome because it means I dont have to deal with that forms mode crap or focus and what ever other mode NVDA and other windows screen readers use to enter text into text fields. Basically, I just have to na
 vigate to the tet field either with the VoiceOver cursor or keyboard focus, it says edit text, and I start typing away with no problems.Some people might say that the VoiceOver commands are too coplicated. Well, if you go to VoiceOver utility and enable trackpad or numpad commander, it gets a lot easier.Basically it changes the numpad or trackpad into a controller for VoiceOver. By default, the numpad has keys to do the most essential functions of VoiceOver with just one key press. Numpad 4 and 6 move left and right, 2 and 8 move down and up, 7 and 9 stop interacting and interact, 5 selects, etc. Then of course if you dont like the keys assigned or want to add more, you can customize the commanders in VoiceOver utility.Well, that is about it from me.Im glad I switched to the mac, I think it will get better and better.As for windows, well Im pretty much done with Windows. Im tired of all the interface changes and other crap on Windowss
 and so now only keep XP around for games.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148689#p148689

First, that is a major feature and so likely wont be added. Second, if you are on a mission and get interrupted, well, theres not much you can do. The leader can kick you, and you lose only the rep you spent to join, which works well. If you are the leader you really have no option, hence my message earlier about leaders being able to kick themselves. Please, no safe zones in missions, that will just be horribly abused no matter what safeguards Aprone tries to add, and it opens up a whole other can of worms for him to deal with regarding lazy people who dont want to actually do a mission.As to pausing, that probably wont happen either. Generally, multi-player games cant be paused because you are with a group of people, so what you do affects them and vice versa. Pausing the game for one player will... what? Is that player there to be attacked? If not, what happens when they re-appear and there are zombies, particularly on missions? What happens
  if the player pauses the game until the mission is over? Talk about truck sitting! You can pause single-player mode, which makes sense because you are alone, but pausing multi-player mode will never happen, I can say with near certainty.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148693#p148693

Sorry for double posting but Ill have to add this: a safe area in a mission could be abused, yes, but so what? We have the conveniant kick command if we have people whos hanging out in the safe area. Its just a safer form of truck sitting but on the other hand ... It also would make perfect sense from a zombie apocolips perspective. You can hide in an armored truck while the zombies pound on the reinforced doors and through themselves against the reinforced windows ... yeah guys, think this through.Therere a lot of things Aprone has to do --- and I havent even seen him on Skype lately, and he hasnt responded to anything. I suspect he might have gotten some issues ...But yeah itd be great if he could add it ... after all, its your choice if they want to cheat.I mean, we have the means of dealing with these people, as I already pointed out. Theres the loosers, and the kick commands, and the mute command.

Re: Swamp, zombie fps by Aprone

The biggest deal is that it isnt going to happen given that Swamp is in bug-fix mode and will then be done.Yes, many people still solo missions, though not strips or 45s so much anymore with the new AI. Pausing a solo mission would make sense (I was thinking of ones with multiple players), but Id really not like to see the ability to return to the main game. If you pause a mission, you have to finish it or bail, not save it to do later on. As others have said, what if you buy gear? Do you keep it or does it go away? What if its been a few days and you just forgot you had a saved mission, so everything youve done since is gone?It seems like the simplest solution is to simply allow anyone to remove themselves from a mission without consequence. So long as we have losers.txt, we can stop people from joining our missions if we know they will leave at the first sign of trouble. If, however, you have a legitimate reason for leaving, you can be kicke
 d or just kick yourself. Bottom line: the /kick command will work on only you, unless you are the mission leader in which case it will work on everyone in the mission. That seems like a server-side change, and not a difficult one, but I could be wrong there.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148702#p148702

Re: A very interesting point my dad and I came upon

okay SLJ. im going to take you to town here, or i think thats what they call it, but hopefully i dont offend you. i dont mean to.SLJ wrote:Saying that Windows is more userfriendly than Mac is only said by people who dont have much experiences on using a Mac. Here are some examples:[/quote[on the contrary, i have had experience. not a whole lot i will admit, but enough. i think the amount of research ive done makes up for my gaps in experience. i have used mountain lion on a virtual machine on my windows 7 pc. while thats not the most optimal environment to run a mac, it works. SLJ wrote:How do you attach a file to a mail? You go to the menubar and search for the attach file item. No, way!
 Why waist your time on doing that? No, you go to your file explore, find the file, copy with command c, go back to your mail and simply paste your file by pressing command v. The same goes for every program you wanna import any kind of data or file into. Just copy it. you dont have to search anything. there is a key command for all parts of the menu in out look. so with one command, i think its alt n, i pull up the box to attach the file. then i have too look for the file just like you would have to look for it if you wanted to copy it. so your reasoning here isnt getting you anywhere. but i will kind of come back to this in a second so hold on.SLJ wrote:the folder structure in the OS is very different, but on the Mac, it also makes sense. We can take the root folder
 s as an example: Applications, well that folder speaks for itself. Thats mostly it, which means you know where to look if you needs to remove something .manually, which is a pain in Windows.its not really a pain if you know where things download. which is the downloads folder. and they will install to program files usually. you can always change this of course, but trust me, its not hard
 . things dont install to random places unless you tell it to install to a random place. when you install something, it will ask you where you want to install it. so unless you pick some random folder on your external that is 4 folders in, protected by 2 alphanumeric passwords, and incripted, your good.SLJ wrote:I would like to know what people find complicated to do on a Mac, and why people are saying that Windows is more userfriendly. I dont want a podcasting client which changes the filenames when I download t
 hem. Internet radio, yeah, works fine, but I would like to add my own stations as well. Tv shows, well, not that many in my country. Audiobooks, well, works fine, but again, iTunes is messing with your files! Cd ripping, well, works most of the times.i disagree on the podcasts. thats about all iTunes is good for. but it is a pain and i hate it.i hate having to interface with this other piece of software just to get something on my phone. not to mention that it imposes its own rules on the files im trying to put on my phone.SLJ wrote:thats truely said from someone who dont understand how interacting works. ive already said that i do have experience so
  ill say nothing more on this.SLJ wrote:you have to remember that you can either choose to use the VO cursor like the Jaws cursor or whatever virtual cursor youre using in Windows. Most Windows users do

We have a thread for that. And yeah, Big Finish is good, but they are the highest of highs wen it comes to professional work, so its a bit unair to put those standards to everything else Fast.And its hardly fair to judge anime as a whole with over 50 years od animation and practices wen youve only heard two somewhat rough dubs.And of course it has to sound like ADR, the dubbers job is to say the lines and not get in the way of the original background noise and production while doing their best to convey what the original meant. Unlike cartoons where the animation is built around the audio, dubbers have to do the reverse.For instance, compare this scene from Cowboy Bebop, whos dub is considered good enough that the original creators watch the English version:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSLfBR4D0HgURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148712#p148712

Re: A very interesting point my dad and I came upon

Hi all!I agree with SLJ on all he said.Sorry if there is a bit of rambling going on from my side, but I have some points to address here which I think is very important.First of all I am studying myself. I do read quite a lot on a daily basis and do write some papers from time to time.Ive found a strategy that blows every screenreader out of my window. Would I wish NVDA could do that? YES. WindowEyes, Jaws etc? Yes indeed.Ive not tried with any other screenreader to see if I could do the same thing, but here is what I do when I read very complex articles, books etc.:I open a blank document in Text edit and make a title. I open the media I have to read and take notes for. Now back to Textedit again. Now, I turn the Cursor tracking off. That means the following:Voiceovers cursor can go anywhere on the computer. But! My keyboard focus stays in the text document.Some of you may see where this is going alrea
 dy. Now I can go to the window with the article, book or what have you and read it with VOiceovers standard reading keys. And atthe exact same time I can take notes if I want to. Actually I can make quotes from the text as well without changing window any time.Again, I dont know if any other screenreader can do this. If one or more can. Tell me, and I will be glad that this method works on Windows too.Lastly: I do understand why most people want to buy a cheep pc with Windows on them. My mother did that three years ago, when Windows 7 had been around for a year or so. Now her computer needs to be reformated. WHy? Because manufactures sells computers with bloatware on them in my country. It is very hard to get a clean Windows installed computer. And folks, she is not a geeky person. She uses her computer for browsing, a bit og gaming, Facebook, home bank a
 nd so on. And still it is in this state after three years. I was actually disappointed when I took a deeper look at it a few months back.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148715#p148715

@darkabomination: Im not saying its fair. Im just saying I find it unlistenable. And I would honestly call graphic audio the worst of the worst. I can think of lots of other producers of audio plays that are almost as good, if not as good, as Big Finish. Focus on The Family (especially the versions of the Narnia Chronicals they did, though Adventures in Oddessey usually has moderatly high production values), BBC7 (Alpha, and Omega, are good examples), NPR (Im thinking of the Star Wars audio dramas), whoever made Earthsearch (BBC again?), and I could think of more if I spent a few minutes brainstorming. Yes, I understand why dubbing sounds as awful as it does. Unfortunately, that doesnt make it sound any less awful, and doesnt make it any easier for me to listen to. ctly the same problems with them.Edit: I didnt notice that youtube link. So...my thoughts on it? Its slightly better than Graphic Audio, but its still really, really bad sounding, Im afraid. The timing of the lines is way, way, way off. Its obvious that some things in Japanese must take longer to say, and others take less. There are slight pauses in places that sound unnatural, and some places where you would expect a natural conversation to ppause have none at all. Also, the panning of the voices is all screwed up. Based on the audio, theyre right next to each other. But based on the footstep sounds, I dont think thats supposed to be the case. So it makes it impossible for me to have any clue whats going on in this scene. Are they hugging? I dont think so, because there are gun, or perhaps some other weapon, sounds. But the panning of the voices is screwed
 up in comparison with the background, so I cant tell what character has the gun. Is she holding it on him, trying to stop him leaving? Or is he warding her off with the gun? Without vision, or some much improved sound design, there is no way to know. Also, where are they? The background sounds kind of like a parking lot, or some other outdoor place. But the echo applied to the voices in ADR makes it sound like...a cave or something? The guns and footsteps dont echo in the same way, so based on that, I think were outdoors, assuming those sounds come from the original production. But once again, Im not quite sure. Also, I think the timing of the dialog is slightly off compared to the background sounds, because the places where the footstep sounds happen make no sense; if they indicate one character is turning, why is that happening while he or she is speaking? Normally that would happen during a pause in dialogue. Also, the p
 anning issues mean I cant tell whos steps are whos. And because Im pretty sure the timing is off, not only can I not tell who has the weapon, if thats what that sound is, but who is drawing it in response to what part of the dialogue. So even a simple, mostly dialogue based scene like this, becomes impossible for me to follow. And that, folks, is why I refuse to watch anything dubbed.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148717#p148717

Yes, Ive seen them. Ive seen a bull load of them. Ive seen people suggest lots of great things after these posts as well. The reason I keep suggesting and supporting various ideas is so that Aprone can make his own calls if he wants to implement them or not, thats his judgement, its his game, and hes old enough to decide what he wants and hes not going to care if you want him to be done with developement or not. If he wants to add any of the features weve suggested, its his choice.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148721#p148721

I can think of lots of other producers of audio plays that are almost as good, if not as good, as Big Finish. Thanks for that tip SLJ.As for having to interact all the time, you really dont have to.If you use the arrow keys you can navigate tables though interacting and using VO keys makes it easier.As for cursor tracking, that is something I believe is unique to the mac.I also like the ammount of customization you have with VO on the mac. welshweyr, dude I think if your house caught on fire, the last thing on your mind would be whether or not youre dying on swamp. roflrofl. Let me point out a few things to you guys. Pause feature you say? well this actually existed, although it wasnt implemented by Aprone intentionally. In fact it was on a 2.9 version. guess what people did? Thats right, they abused it. they used it to trucksit indefinitely. course youre probably thinking but wait, how can they do this? the leader can kick them. well many times the leader dies, so they can use pause glitch for hours, and many did just that. in fact, I was on a 45, and it was only myself and a few Spanish speaking players left. They had no idea I could understand what they were saying, so they started discussing how they were going to step away from the pc for several hours, and once they got back, the mission wouldve been soloed by me. Course I did not give them such satisfaction. You also mention the
 ability to kick yourself? that was also on 2.9, and that also was abused to not only stop people from dying, but to abuse a particular crate drop bug. Naturally Aprone got rid of it as well. now you guys see why we cant have these features?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148728#p148728

Okay, so why not exclude players who take advantage of the system? If I see someone on a mission kicks himself while hes being attacked, I identify him as a loser. Yes, he could join a mission Im on but not leading, but Id alert the leader that he is one who takes advantage of an otherwise useful feature. I make it a point to only go on missions with people I know, as Im sure most of us do, and I never go on missions where the leader does not speak English or Spanish. Sure, it would take a while for the lists of losers to propagate, but it is really no different from the kick command. When that came along, there were leaders who would kick everyone just before the mission ended. We all know who they are now, and even though people can still cheat that way, the command stayed, thankfully.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148731#p148731

Its basically just a menu made using a string array.In this case, I typed it into the code, but its possible to load it from a file if you want.If youre using BGT and the dynamic_menu, you could just add the array to the menu with a loop. I usually use my own menu functions, but I think it should work like this:string[] help_text={
This is the first line of the help file. You can read the next lines with the arrow keys.,
This is the second line of the help file.,
Press enter or escape to return to main.
};
dynamic_menu help_menu;
// You can set the speech mode here, if youd rather use the active screen reader than sapi.
for(uint i=0; ihelp_text.length(); i++) {
help_menu.add_item_tts(help_text[i]);

No one actually gets shot, the female character in frustration shoots a gun at a wall.And how exactly is anime dubbing any worse or better than Western Animation?To be honest, youre imagining a lot of the perceived problems. Of course they dont have access to the original audio tracks in a redub.Not liking something just because it doesnt have absolute audio perfection is too high a standard.
