My boyfriend got me to actually click on this topic and take a look. I thought it would be something completely different. Hes a computer science student, we have a female friend who works for a major computer company, and I myself am a female gamer/nerd. Our spiffy friend is big into women in computing.To me, with no statistical data whatsoever to back this up, it seems that the accessible gaming market is slightly more evenly matched than among the mainstream games, and yes, I think that all the accessible arcade/card/puzzle options contribute to that slightly more balanced ratio. Its more acceptable to play a card game? It takes less brain work to play a card game? Card games are easy and sociable?Maybe already being blind sheds a little of societys normality, allowing female gamers to feel more comfortable in this arena. It seems that the point is true as well that female gamers are either RS people, or serious hard core gamers. How many females
  do we see playing Super Liam or Dark Destroyer or Tank Commander? OK, we have a decent enough population in Swamp it seems, but that feels more like a community unto itself than a strictly gaming environment. Maybe most women dont have the urge to go nuts at the keyboard and be a top notch button masher to kill that Q9 boss. What do I know? Im far from normal.I have zero knowledge about gender study and gender makeup. I know that often times, women are more goal/task oriented than men. Keep the schedule going, clean the house, make the weeks grocery list, clean the kitchen, get this and that little thing done and planned out on time. that doesnt really leave much time or energy left over for gaming. I know I have fifty trillion details going through my head in any given day, and though I like to RP on the mud I play, I dont have the energy or attention for it if Ive had anything like a stressful busy day. I think SAPI is better, because like it was said, the screen readers dont have a specific time to stop talking. I mean, if the screen reader is reading the speech of a minigame in AAC, or informing you that a bomb or something is here, it may be reading while the minigame is running. The bomb as well may expload before the screen reader stops reading the speech. I know that BGT, in which the game was coded, supports screen readers, but Im not sure if this feature was fixed. Sadly trenton I think if we changed our name to audiocrap.net people might get the wrong idea . Just to actually be serious for a moment, in the professional and academic sense, I do think game is an accurate term, sinse game has also come to mean any activity with its own descrete rules and active participation among players, for example business ventures or the legal system. Under that definition the term computer game is accurate. The problem is with the social emphasis on game as competition, ie as something to be won or lost and the gender bias to discourage women from competitive behaviour there is a gap there, albeit I do think this is one which is being filled in over time precisely because of the none competitive aspects of gaming and the greater variety of game subjects. ill also add however as
  a person who has rarely had an interest in competition that it is quite possible to play a variety of traditional games in a none competitive manner. For example I recently have been getting back to playing alter aeon, and my main focus there is exploration of the world and engaging in the little stories of quests. If I advance levels, train skill etc, this is a subsidiary matter to me, indeed the chief reason Ive not player alter for a while is I was at a point where I could explore any new areas but was getting sick of grinding the old ones just for advancement. I have met female gamers who play very much in this way, for example the girl I played through most of the ff series and indeed other graffical rpgs such as parasite eve and xenogears with had precisely the same priorities as me. She rarely got every item or skill in each of the games, but she did get even all the obscure points of story and plot and access to all areas.As regards many things at once,

As regards games generally, I think as they said in the announcement that they sometimes put games on their site before theyre available in ios etc when theyre beta testing, then make the formal announcements to the mailing list and what not when all the bugs are knocked out.I have certainly noticed that their demos are pretty liniar which is another reason I tend to prefer actually buying the games on Ios myself if I want to play them, for example if I remember rightly in the demo of choice of the star captain only the miliary career is open to you, where as in the full game you can go and work for the military, become a hauler or try crime, though Ive not tried those t

1. On startup, SkullgirlsOS would prompt you to select one, two or three avatars which would later represent your cursor moving around instead of the little arrow or caret in other systems.2. SkullgirlsOS would have support for a pointer device which the same company made, which would feature 6 buttons instead of the regular two. Depending on what button was pushed to click an item, the avatar cursor would act one way or another (kick, punch, special move if more than one at the same time).3. There would be no blue screens of death. Instead, the avatar would perform a dying animation, and if more than one avatars had been chosen at startup and they were still alive, the computer would stay just the same but change the cursor avatar. 4. The same could be achieved by a combination of two determinate buttons on the mouse.5. The startup sound after selecting the characters would be “ladies and gentlemen, it’s… showtime!”6. microsoft would make a money management application for SkullgirlsOS which uses an icon similar to a cat with it’s head detatched. The app would be called Microsoft Fortune, or ms Fortune.7. Every character would have different drag ‘n drop annimations. Filia, for example, would turn Samson into an octopus, grab the dragged icon with the tentacles and throw it away at the position specified by the user.8. If more than one keyboard or mouse was connected, more than one avatar would appear on the screen at the same time. For security, every avatar could use different mouse button combinations on the other avatar to push it away from the current spot of the screen, stun it, etc.9. Apart from passwords, a way of protecting files would be to add a small AI to it which would start attacking the avatar when selected. The character should try to defend itself and destroy the file icon to unlock it.10. The remote control program included in SkullgirlsOS would be called BrainDrain.11. Everytime BrainDrain stopped a session, painwheel would appear on the screen, shouting, “GET OUT OF MY HEAD!”12. The music player bundled with SkullgirlsOS would be called BigBand.13. Fatal system errors would be called CATastroffies.14. On Valentines day, the main UI would change to resemble a hospital. The icons would change to vials, the CPU use counter would be changed to a heart rate monitor, etc...15. The only midi instrument included would be a trumpet.16. What I do to advance between levels using NVDA, is go through the list of buttons with the arrow keys, and route the mouse to the navigator to click on them. All of the level buttons are there, and levels you have already played are locked, so you dont have to worry about selecting old levels.I havent found a way to restart yet.Dark, perhaps you should be the one to contact the developers if its necessary? Those of us that can play arent having any problems getting into the game. Im not even sure adding labels would help, since the part I was having trouble with was getting into the flash object itself. After that I had no trouble at all. I had to use NVDA and Firefox, no other browsers worked, especially not IE8. Its a matter of using an up to date browser that supports the latest version of flash and a screen reader that can see all the objects. Hi.So, I know iVona has voices for Android, but they are apparently in beta and have been for 2 or so years from what Ive heard.So, they only have one US voice which is Kendra.Is it possible to get more ivona voices like Joey and Salli? Yeah, agree with pretty much everything said here. Ive been told Im very talented with computers, but Im certainly not the best, and am worried Ill be overlooked when trying to get a job for someone with vision, even if theyre technically not as qualified as I am. It seems like almost everyone in high school around here has a job, and it doesnt take a whole lot to get one, so the fact that I dont have one is pretty disheartening, but then, Id probably hate a cash register or cleaning job, or something of that nature. When talking to people about how my blindness limits me, sometimes I hear but Helen Keller, Stevie Wonder etc were blind, and they did it... Well, Im no Helen Keller, or Stevie Wonder, and the fact that I do not at all look up to those individuals notwithstanding, comparing me to them is extremely unfair, in my humble opinion. Im not a very ambitious person; as long as Im making money, helpi
 ng people and contributing in a good way, and living comfortably, its fine by me. Too many times I hear about blind people that scored some small victory in the workplace by fighting tooth and nail for it. Im not one of those bullheaded people who live to fight for every small thing, and that would get exhausting very fast. It seems that to really get anywhere these days, you have to be an overachiever, super-motivated, vivacious, ambitious and outgoing, otherwise youre forever destined to be overlooked by most and live in the shadows, as it were. Of course as always, Im only speaking from my own experiences and what Ive observed around here, and I would not wish to be that kind of person even if I could, nor do I want a lot of attention, but itd be nice to be noticed, or to truly contribute something good sometimes. The fact that people are amazed that we as blind people can do the simplist things gets pretty annoying, though I do admit I often e
