Re: KODP questions - how on earth do you keep the game happy?
Re: KODP questions - how on earth do you keep the game happy? does the game notify you if youve gotten an achievement? its been a while since I have, though Ive gotten back in the swing of things recently and am attempting another short game as I need something to get lost in from time to time, but in short bursts. This morning I so narrowly avoided a feud with the clan Id just made peace with, which was a huge relief as my magic is at -5!Also, Ive tried out a slightly different set of starting stats and it appears to be working well. My chief is renoun in leadership, and while my ring only has 6 out of 7 gods, at least this time those on it actually are decent. I do wish there was a quick way of finding out who each person worships in the reorganisation screen, as by the time it gets to the end of stats, I occasionally forget if that God has already come up. therefore Ive taken to checking in advice screens instead. Sadly I appear to have gotten all the chilano roy and iseries worshipers for knowbles URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=195152#p195152 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Clok Mud
Re: Clok Mud Victorious, the roundtime and travel times are different. When youre in travel time you can still do normal actions, For example, peer in directions, or eat, draw a weapon, attack something. The other thing is, if you are cutting down trees or mining or doing any activities like that wearing armor will significantly raise the energy drain and rt for performing that activity. To make sure youre not wearing any armor, type armor, and itll show you the various slots for armor and tell you if they are covered by anything. For the most part I dont even notice the rt or travel time, its just something you grow use to I suppose. It makes it really easy to react to things because you know youre not going to die instantly if something jumps out at you or suddenly happens because for the most part youll have several seconds to react to it. Unless youre unlucky anyway. Im going to be posting an idea on the bbs that may help new play ers just a little bit, as logging and mining are meant to be professions, not just something you can pick up and start instantly making riln from, so Im going to see if we can have some various odd jobs people can do around the cities, like go out and forage blah blah blah for the herblist, , or go sweep this and this street or something. Itd probably have a limited amount of riln it will provide, but hopefully its enough to teach the new players a little about the game, and give them a bit of riln to play with..NPC trainers, to learn a lesson, youll first need to ffind an NPC trainer, or a pc trainer which Ill explain how that works here in a moment. An NPC trainer can be found by looking at the npc in question, so when you start out in shadgard I believe you start out in the hearth and home, in In that room are two NPCs, to figure out if they teach something you can look at them, and at the bottom of their description itll say something like, hes a trainer, you can ask him about training. To do this just type ask npc-name about training, and theyll give you a list of things they teach. To learn something from them type ask npc-name about skill, ,itll describe the skill and tell you how much itll cost to get that lesson. Most starting skills will cost you about 50 riln. The way lessons work is that when you have taken a lesson in something you instantly get a 1 point bonus to that skill, more if you have a new player bonus, or a role playing award. You also get a period of time equal to 24 hours (play time, not rlrl time) in which your skill gains for that skill are doubled, it only doubles a maximum of 2.5 skill points, if you reach the 2.5 before the 24 hours is up it ends the double skill gains, and you are freed to take another lesson in it. You can only study up to 3 things at once, to see which skills you are currently studying, type skill study. If you do not finish you r training in that lesson within the 24 hours, or if you abandon the skill prematurely you will still need to get the 2.5 skill points before getting another lesson in that skill. . You can abandon a skill by typing abandon skill name.PC trainers, a pc trainer is a player who is skiled enough in something in which they can give you a lesson, so say bob knows how to log, and youy want to learn how to log, you can ask over esp, esp hello, Im trying to learn logging, would someone be willing to give me a lesson in it? I am currently in shadgard. This will send a message to everybody who is tuned in to ESP, and hopefully someone will respond, ,and you can set up a place to meet. To teach someone something you type teach bobby about logging,, to learn something when someone offers to teach you you would type, teach accept. Usually PCs dont charge for their training, though theres nothing stopping them from doing so.If you guys have any other questions dont hesitate to ask over the question channel, theyre usually answered pretty quickly, and yeah. Im gglad to see so many people enjoying the game that I love. Anyway hope that helps, and happy cloking. Re: Braillemon status update!
Re: Braillemon status update! Righto...let me try. This is not going to be spot on.When you enter Mt. Moon, you want to go left to get hold of TM16 and fight a trainer or two. Then come back to the entrance. When youre getting that TM and stuff, youre going to hear a ladder and at least one person you cant get to...just ignore them for now.Okay, so youre back at the entrance. Now go to your right and up, generally. Fight trainers, pick up items. There will be a point where you can travel down (or south, if you prefer), but its a dead end. I believe theres a potion and an escape rope down there with the trainer, so pick them up if you want.Okay, so got that? Now goo back north. Once youve defeated the trainers in the area, one of them should be talking about Zubat. One is a girl and the other a boy. Go north until you cant go anymore, then go west, then north a bit. You probably hear a ladder somewhere very close by. This is going to lead you to the next area, but its a dead end, so bear with me.Find the ladder and enter it. You cant doo this by following walls. This ladder puts you in a little hallway of sorts. Follow the hallway to a second ladder, and as soon as you find that second ladder and climb down it, go to your right. Did you get jumped? This Team Rocket member isnt hard, so whack him. When finished, go find the item you can hear too nab TM46, Thief. A nice move, particularly early on.Now, this is important. Retrace your steps. Find that ladder, then the hallway, then the ladder at the other end. Once youre back on the main floor of Mt. Moon, youre going to try and head west and a bit south. You will know youre on the right track if you find Hiker Marcos. There may or may not be an item near here. So, okay. Youve beaten Marcos. Go to the west of him and find another ladder. This leads to another hallway, so just follow the hallway down to a different lev el. I got a bit confused in here my first time through, because you can hear a couple of items and a couple of people it doesnt look like you can get to, way off to your left.So heres what you do. Youve just hopped off the ladder. Go south, east a bit, until an opening shows itself to the south. Go south, then start going west when the opportunity presents itself. You may have to go south again. Eventually you wont be able to go west or south anymore, so start going north. Youll eventually find a gap, and youll hear that the people and items are quite close by, sort of to your northeast. Youve just circled around to come at them from a different direction. Kill the rocket grunt and the supernerd, then take whichever fossil you want. Pick up the moonstone, then find the nearby ladder, go through it, then head east out of Mt. Moon.I hope this helps. Re: KODP questions - how on earth do you keep the game happy? I do believe you get notified when you get achievements, though again I dont recall precisely as its been a few months sinse I last played Kodp seriesly myself. Iseries is one of my favourite gods to have on the ring, sinse it really boosts trade and availability of goods, and its quite amazing sometimes just how many problems in the game can be solved by throwing money at them . Ive never had a problem with choosing different gods sinse generally speaking different god worshippers will have high attributes in specific areas, eg, Urnalda woshippers will be high in plants and animals, Iseries worshippers high in bargaining, Lhankamhy worshippers high in custom etc. The only problem tends to arise when you get say a Urnalda worshipper high in leadership or a barnta worshipper high in combat (yeah, Ive seen that happen, dont mess with the ploughman!), also one of the things that makes Urlnalda and Elmal clans harder is that certainly Urnalda worshippers dont always have the best leadership. eneraly sinse so much depends upon stats Ill go with stats and usually have a ring with at least six gods represented, but Ill keep checking in the two categories where I dont have the best person just to see if another god worshipper comes up that is as good or better in the given area. This is however one of the things that makes Kodp so unique, you have to work with the clan your given and take them through different situations, not just minimax your stats. Re: Audio Defence: Zombie Arena -- From the Creators of Papa Sangre 2
Re: Audio Defence: Zombie Arena -- From the Creators of Papa Sangre 2 Funny Muhammad, Ive not experienced those crashes you mention, indeed other than the silent golf club Ive had no problems sinse the update.@Sebby, I agree that this says something about game design, however I find it interesting that it was indeed able to allay my concerns. My concern was not that simple games could not be entertaining, but such games needed very carefully worked out mechanics so as not to devolve into another boppit clone reaction test, which Audio defense has succeeded in doing. Yes, the analogue controls make a huge difference, however I am also quite impressed at the speed, movement and diversity of zombie types and the uses of weaponry, for example the need to take farties out at a distance, the need to pump berserks with some shots before they reach you, the need to zero in on snufflehogs charging quickly etc, notto mention the different tactics for each weapon or weapon combo and the fact that it is quicker t o switch weapons than reload. Im not overly surprised, sinse in their previous games somethinelse certainly showed themselves to be quite capable of addictive mechanics, but it is nice to see a designer come up to expectations. Re: A really good Dr. who related Youtube series Well Stewart has done his usual moan on Death in Heaven Find it here He has some rather interesting things to say about the prominance of the villains and the fact that the emotions werent there, however I disagree with him that being emotionally and interlectually flat isnt a reason to hate the finale. If Doctor Who isnt engaging on an emotional, interlectual or stylistic level then its not doing anything, which for a series about an alien who travels through all time and space really is death!I also personally never was! in the Moffat camp, I thought things started slipping right from the first Eleventh Doctor Episode onwards. Hay Rachel, good to hear that the new release is finish.i just have one final question. Is braillemon still going to run just like it allways has?Is the updater going to be a separate exe that you run to check for updates, or do you run the updater and it starts the game?Sorry, Im just a little confused. Also, jast an FYI, it might be a good idea to include the info.txt file that you used to include with the older releases of braillemon. A few users on this forum are starting to ask questions about some for advanced functions of the game like how to read stats and change speech rate and such. Re: Braillemon status update! Alright, Im going to just take a quick look at some of the bugs you mentioned. I do have a server but I just am not ready yet to implement the updater.Ill edit this with a link once I make sure the minor oversights are fixed (probably not the 2-turn/paralysis/ect sound bugs though, sorry about that Jayde)Very occasionally (but twice in Mt. Moon so far) the game has crashed out of nowhere when the AI wants to change pokemon and I dont want to switch.I havent encountered this at all, and I test battles very frequently, if this occurs again can you get me some more details? I revamped a lot of the Battle code so it should work a lot better now though. I also fixed quite a few things with the AI. For example, does the game manage to tell you what theyre trying to switch to?I keep hearing chimes and such when I cant find anything to indicate what they are. Ive combed every inch of certain areas, have stood what sounds like literally on top of the chimes, and no dice. I imagine these are ladders, but perhaps making them unhearable throough walls would be a good thing, in the sense that it can lead to false positives. What youre hearing are actually the equivalent of the wind sound effect found in the overworld. I can replace this with the wind sound effect. Im going to temporarily do this to see what you think of it, and see if this helps your situation, alright?Speech can have the rate changed/stopped with B/N/M keys. Volume of game is modified with F11/F12, music volume is changed with F9/F10. I need to put up a documentation file...There is also additional functionality such as the D key pointing out the locations of important places.I added a new function that tells you on many maps where the pokemon center, mart, gym, exit and a single important place with the 1,2,3,4,5 keys on the top of the keyboard as well.Oh and Im updating the link right now. Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zxs1c49zcx50c … N.zip?dl=0Sorry about not having the updater out. Been getting caught up with other stuff lately. Re: Braillemon status update!
Re: Braillemon status update! The hope is that the Updater will be run, and it will launch braillemon after installing updates. Also, if it detects an update that will make your save file unusable and asks if you want to update. If you proceed with the update it will delete your old save file (this is to be expected since the game is currently in beta). Once the game is complete, it will instead create a new save file with the new qualifications if any conflict occurs.PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CURRENT RELEASE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OLDER VERSIONSTonight or tomorrow, depending if I have time, I will write a new controls document. Re: KODP questions - how on earth do you keep the game happy? I actually havent tried any challenge games, per se. Hard mode, which Ive tried a couple times, is quite challenging in and of itself. Its very possible to get crushed early on if youre not careful. Ive concluded that Ill win the long game a few mor times before going there again. As for nobles, Ive had a few truly awesome Barntar worshippers. One of my favorite self-made story arcs involved one who kept being sent out into combat in some form or another—on cattle raids, or defending the clan from all its enemies. In the end he defeated an Orlanthi wind lord in single combat, which is really amazing in the setting. He died peacefully of old age the next year, I like to imagine he told his grandchildren all about everything hed done. Its these little bits of emergent gameplay, as the game design people call it, which make KoDP and similar games shine. Sadly I cant really think of any examples from the audio games market. Re: Is there a way to Encrypt entire folders with BGT?
Re: Is there a way to Encrypt entire folders with BGT? Sure. One could encrypt each file individually, or could encrypt them after packing them.(IIRC, the encryption scheme changed after the Perilous Hearts demo, but Im not sure about that. I know it changed at one point to something more secure.)Heres an example. Im literally just adding one line to my pack_all example:// Pack all files in a certain directory, recursive. // This probably needs to be in its own script; pack everything separately from the game, otherwise it will do weird things when someone tries to play it. // Both parameters here have a default value, so you can just call pack_all().close() and thats everything. You might try pack_all(sounds) if you only want the sounds folder, for example. pack_file@ pack_all(string top=, pack_file@ ret=null) { if(@ret==null) { pack_file temp; @ret=temp; ret.create(sounds.dat); } // Formatting: if((top!=)(string_right(top, 1)!=/)(string_right(top, 1)!=\\)) { top += /; } string[] dirs=find_directories(top + *); string[] files=find_files(top + *); for(uint i=0; ifiles.length(); i++) { ret.add_file(top + files[i], top + files[i]); // The filename in the pack matches the filename on the system. } for(uint i=0; idirs.length(); i++) { @ret=pack_all(top + dirs[i], ret); // Since ret is a handle, we shouldnt need to save it, but if this doesnt work, try adding @ret= to the start of this line. } return ret; } void main() { // Example, packing everything in ./sounds pack_all(sounds/).close(); file_encrypt(sounds.dat, sounds2.dat, best encryption key ever!); }If you wanted to encrypt something other than sounds, and use a file other than sounds.dat, you might do something like this:pack_file temp;pack_file@ pack=temp; // Just because well be passing it around to functions.pack.create(data.temp); // Its a temp because were going to encrypt it.pack_all(, pack);pack.close();file_encrypt(data.temp, data.dat, super awesome key of safety+4);To use the pack later, youd need to decrypt it first, though, which could be a problem. An alternative would be to encrypt all your files separately, then pack the encrypted files. Youd need something like the pack_all function to do this, just encrypting instead of packing. The advantage to changing it to work that way would be that you could access the files more easily without the security risk of unpacking everything where a cheater might find it.That, and the sound engine allows you to use a pack and set an encryption key, but IIUC it only works if the files are encrypted separately. Re: Braillemon status update! Dammit, I boosted the number of sounds capable of playing at one time because I was having problems with that exact thing. By spotty you mean it cuts out, correct? I havent encountered this problem personally since boosting this value so I want to make sure everything is functioning properly. Can you get me a detailed recording of whats going on, as well as the map that this is occurring on? Does this problem persist? What seems to cause this problem? Is there a certain set of events that you performed before encountering that problem? This problem was resolved on my end once I boosted the number of sounds that can play at one time. Im pretty sure unless I added some weird ass code that this would not be a problem in the earlier game since up to 300 sounds can play at one time and it was only a problem while testing the Power Plant. If many people are encountering this problem it may be something wonky with the compiling and Ill recompile it. So metimes if the cache isnt cleaned in a while weird stuff like that happens.I cant recall if I updated Viridian Citys cordinates but I do know that its fairly easy to fix - since most of the coordinate strings are in the lang file its an easy fix... Since we dont have the updater youll have to redownload the file from that link once I announce its fix.Anyone else who encounters this problem please answer the questions I have above - it will help greatly with determining the cause.
