Re: Rs games suggestions

@Bogdan, having a full gamelist to list all joinable games might be interesting, though it would still have the problem that unless someone was on that menu and specifically checking they probably wouldnt see that any given game was available and do something like go off to play some bots, hence my thought on notifications. @Devin, while I agree an Ios version would be a very good thing for portability if nothing else, I dont really see the need of a web version with sounds and music unless you were thinking of the web version to be a portable one, though programming something like that could be a major hassle sinse youd need to use flash or unity or something else, also to be honest I dont really like the way Vo plays on the net anyway so would much prefer a native ios ap with some helpful controls and instant output of text to Vo. I was just thinking though in this topic of miner interface suggestions such as the notifications one I mentione

Re: Anyone know what's up with Draconis?

CX2, interesting enough I have been saying much the same thing for a long time. Maintaining the VB runtimes and continuing to develop games using them is a losing proposition in the long term. We are already seeing issues cropping up on Windows 8.1, and sadly there does not seem to be anyway of getting some of our older developers to look at more modern alternatives. Of course, the main problem is a general attitude of if it isnt broke dont fix it which is a way a few developers feel about it.For example, while I have the utmost respect for Jim Kitchen as a game developer and enjoy his games he still is a tad bit frustrating because he continues to use XP personally and still develops everything in VB 6. As someone who has since moved on from those technologies I am concerned that sooner or later there will come a day where none of his games will be compatible with Windows or will encounter some sort of runtime issues that cant be fixed w
ithout a substantial rewrite all because the guy is still hanging on to tech from the late 90s and early 2000s with no apparent motivation to move beyond that. I have a feeling he wont change until he has to upgrade for one reason or another to a modern system and finds that his games have technical issues and require major rewrites or upgrades. Until that day comes well just have to deal with the situation as is.In any case I have been saying since 2006 or so that game developers should be investing time and energies in something like C# .NET, VB .NET, or something else with very little to show for it. It has largely fallen on deaf ears. So I have given up trying to talk to our audio game devs because I have discovered they will do whatever they want to do no matter what I do or dont say.

Re: Want To Learn Programming

@camlornExcuse my english, as you noticed for sure its not my first language and some ideas are hard to explain for me, so maybe I expressed my point so bad.I know, c# is not popular in this comunitiy (I supose you mean adiogames?), but I think its not for the visual studio, its cause a lot of people says: its not accessible! use the command line!In my opinion, you can do with visual studio all what you can do with command line, but you cannot do with command line all what visual studio offers. This is a briev list of what I use every day in visual studio, only for those features, I code 50% faster than without the IDE:IntelliSense (fully accessible for the most parts, using jaws or nvda): write For, press tab a couple of times and you have your loop ready to use: the same for the most common snippets.Code completion, generally speaking, mantains your code without misstakes, and keeps consistency (variable nam
es, formating, etc).Just type the name of a class, add a dot, and you obtain a menu with each property, field or method, that you can select with arrows and accept with another keypress. And finally, when you select a method, or you type it, you are presented with context help that gives you information about the parameters and a briev description.A simple debugging line by line could help a lot, following code execution that you can read in your code editor. The integrated IDE allows you to creatte folders and add resources (dlls, sounds, images) in a windows classical tree view, an invalable feature to mantain big projects.Adding new pakage libraries, lets say Mono Game, canot be easier: navigate to the corresponding menu, open the nuGet tool, select your pakage and press install. And what about windows forms? Select and add controls to a form with some key presses, edit their properties (text, etc), show a list of their events and write c
ode for each one...Sure, there are developers who use command line tools, but... how many? Please, if some of those features are abailable for python, Id like to know, I want to experiment with it (python is a powerful language, acording to profesionals).Maybe Im lossing some great advantage of writing code in notepad, but I dont know a faster way to create a couple of windows, write some algoritms and compyle than visual studio. THe same for a game (using XNA, certainly you have to install it before...)Thanks for your time!

Re: Want To Learn Programming

Okay. Well, Im going to assume youre using Visual Studio 2008 with jaws. Debugging does not work with NVDA. Debugging never has. After I managed to fight multiple inaccessible parts of submitting a bug report and including specifically what isnt working and how they can fix it, Microsofts response was we know, we cant get it into the next release, but its been a problem for as far back as I went. If youa re only stepping by line, you can. But doing simple things like looking at variable values requires workarounds at best. 2010 and 2012 broke very basic things, though 2013 fixed some of them. Autocomplete has never worked well, if at all. Alt-tabbing doesnt work as soon as you use one of the high contrast color schemes (no, I dont know why, and if you had asked me Id have said it was impossible to break it in this way). Formatting information is not availab
le. Autocomplete might work, but by the time Im done dealing with all the other problems Ive honestly stopped caring, and autocomplete isnt a big deal anyway. The only IDE that rates as fully accessible is Eclipse, and even there NVDA requires at least one workaround. For C++, I use CMake for building and cdb for debugging, though I will admit that cdb is somewhat cryptic until you learn it some. Most languages have command line debuggers, with c# being a rare exception. That said, cdb may work on it-Ive not had occasion to try.The way you manage resources in a sane world is to stick them in the directory structure. You dont need Visual Studio to do this for you. If you are using one of the custom formats like xnb, you should know that thats an incredibly awful thing. And if you arent, then VS is literally just copying a file on your behalf, and you can do it in even less time in Win
dows explorer by typing paths in the address bar. All of my projects have a little snippet of code that knows how to find the sounds directory and give me a sound object in whatever audio system Im using, and I add new resources simply by putting the new file in that directory. The idea of the project as separate from the directory is completely false. In terms of building C#, theres basically 0 compile time-you can get away without incremental building for a project the size of an audiogame. Failing that, you can use nmake or gnu make on them just fine. The only times you need MSBuild is if your project needs WPF or is targeting WinRT. 99% of games dont need either of these.Youve tied yourself to VS. Judging by other posts, you are a new programmer. This is therefore not surprising. Unfortunately, as a blind person, thats not optimal. It may be about the same if you take the time to memor
ize keystrokes to get around accessibility issues, but the whole point of an IDE is that you can glance at things. And we cant. I think that in the sighted world IDEs serve three purposes: GUI designers, crutches for new programmers, and a system for quickly presenting information to a user who can move their attention at literally a thought. GUI designers dont apply. Crutch kind of does because you can avoid the command line for a little while longer. Our method of moving our attention is to use multiple keystrokes and basically completely switch from what were doing to something else, presuming that the part of the IDE we want is accessible in the first place. I have toyed with the idea of making an IDE or at least a text editor aimed at the blind, but this just isnt worth the effort; if I did, I think I could do some nice things that would actually bring some of the benefit to us, but itd almost certainly need to b
e self voicing.Unless youre partially sighted, GUI design isnt something you will be able to do effectively. That said, those lists are just method calls, and if you actually learn them instead of using the editors you can go faster. Navigating huge lists of hundreds of items is not a fast way to write anything. Wx does not give you an editor like that, but you can still make the method calls. Theres also an abstraction aimed at the blind called gui_builder, but its undocumented and a new Python programmer isnt going to be able to figure it out without docs. That aside, though, at least half of audiogames dont use GUI components, and most games in general need a completely different structure than a GUI provides anyway.Im assuming youre somewhat new to programming as we had the Screen Reader API thread. As you learn to program more, your ability to memorize things and not need the f
eatures youre leaning on will go away. I think the dependence will go away even faster if you choose to explicitly work on it. Most libraries and components are well written so that you can guess the name of something, or at least so that once you know the name its kind of obvious why it is called what it is. I dont know what common code snippets are. The only thing I can think of is a for loop header. Everything else needs customization, and by the time

Indeed while as I said this block breaker game on Ios would probably be hard to rebuild as an audio game from scratch, I dont see why someone couldnt build something similar relatively easily with BGt.

Re: Want To Learn Programming

Camlorn, while you are correct that C# is not very popular in the audio games community there are a bit more than two or three finished projects in it. Off the top of my head I know Treasure Hunt, 3D Velocity, Entombed, Final Conflict, and Tactical Battles were all written in C#. Plus there were a number of free uncompleted projects like Mysteries of the Ancients, Montezumas Revenge, Shoot De Me, and a few others written in it. However, that aside your point still stands that it has not been very popular as a game programming language for audio game developers. That isnt to say it isnt a decent language for game programming because it certainly can be. Alan, I do see where you are coming from. As someone who has extensively programmed both in C# and Python Ill state that the advantages in this case are very different. It largely comes down to personal preference rather than any outright objective difference that makes one choice better than the other
.In your personal case you prefer graphical IDEs with all the bells and whistles. Thats fine. However, there arent any IDEs like Visual Studio or Mono Develop for Python that I am personally aware of. For a coder most of the time the best you can do is code your application in a text editor like Notepad rather than click on some toolbox to drag and drop components to build forms or have automatic code completion. If that is what you are looking for I cant think of any Python tools to provide a similar function. That isnt to say Python is a bad choice though. What makes Python attractive for developers is it is fairly simple to learn and use. Rather than having to remember to start and end code blocks with braces, to terminate lines with a semi, and other C type conventions Python uses your indentation to mark the beginning and end of code blocks which is actually simpler and easier to keep track of. Python allows a developer to create variables o
n the fly without having to define them first by specifically declaring its data type making it quicker and easier to do some rapid prototyping and coding. Python is very cross-platform making it easy to develop applications for Windows, Mac, and Linux making it an ideal choice where programming for multiple platforms is an issue. So while there may not be all the tools you are use to having available for Python as a language Python is fairly decent for what it does and is a great tool to have in a programmers toolbox. As for Pythons use professionally that is debatable. I see it more as a blue collar type language. By that I mean it is simple enough for amateur developers to learn and use, and allows the common computer user to learn how to develop programs, to write scripts, and to quickly make an app he or she needs without having to deal with all the complexity and overhead of a language like C# and tools like Visual Studio. All one needs is a compatible Python
runtime and a text editor and voila. Pythons strength, as it were, is cutting out all the unnecessary overhead and complexity of other languages to cut things down to the basics you need to get the job done. That holds true for structure, syntax, and tools while not surrendering much in over all functionality.

Re: Eamon Adventure Browser "AKA" Eamon Revolutions

To be honest I wouldnt worry too much, Eamon revolutions was never intended as a full on browser port of Eamon, just to show off some of the games, (and as you noticed its not finished). Eamon deluxe is unfortunately the only really complete eamon around, though I dont know what has happened to its creaor sinse weve not had any updates or new info for about a year now which is a little worrying. The annoying thing is that for sighted players there is no problem running Eamon deluxe on post xp windows sinse it just runs in dosbox, but there isnt a way of getting a screen reader to read the text from dosbox, which is a right royal pest. Again, the Edx developer was looking into this but Im not sure how his research has gone.A real shame sinse the eamon games are awsome, indeed in the last version of Deluxe there are some of the best ones, like curse of Talan, thrors ring and several by Sam ruby.

Re: Want To Learn Programming

And to be completely clear. I think that a fully accessible and convenient IDE would be a wonderful thing. My objections are based purely around being blind and having accessibility issues, not around an IDE being a bad idea in general. If I could be hired to work on it, Id not mind making one aimed at the blind. But theres no market, so thatll never happen. As for Python professionally, yeah, ease of use is probably part of it. If you know any programming language, you know Python. Its undeniably big in two areas, however. The first of these is web, and that probably comes back to the ease of use; also, its got Django which is a big deal by itself. The other one is, surprisingly, high-performance numerical computing and, basically, science. Python is the most powerful calculator on your system. It can do all your Algebra 1 and 2 homework and a good bit of your calculus homew
ork with little to no effort. If only it could also show the work. Python laughs at DSP, statistics, probability, etc. Ironically this is because of Numpy, Scipy, and Sympy, all of which come together to give you the power of matlab in a general-purpose programming environment. The irony is that you could probably write a pretty high-performance physics simulation system in Python by backing onto Numpy and only be 2 or so times slower than C. Also, theres at least one project that can give you a computing cluster ready for your high-performance machine learning project in an afternoon or so of tinkering (if youre wondering, I have a potential thing for Libaudioverse that involves finding magic numbers that I might do, so I looked int it).But since Im actually more neutral than I appear, Ill also play devils advocate. For extremely large systems (100 kloc or so) choosing a statically typed language may be a
better choice because the compiler will be able to catch potential issues faster. Python is incredibly slow in and of itself, and multi-core programming without calling C requires spawning more Python subprocesses. The Python 2 and Python 3 split is painful, but maybe resolving itself soonish as people continue migrating. There are some obscure pain points here and there having to do with something called the descriptor. Python is a memory hog and so, for large datasets, you have to explicitly use packed arrays. There are 4 ways to bind to C instead of just one, though none of them have much of an advantage and you can just pick the one you like. Finally, packaging can be a bit painful the first time you do it.Not that much of that applies to games, though.

Re: Three Monkeys

@Jayde, if indeed your comments werent actually regarding whether a demo is needed or not but whether people who ask for a demo are right to ask for a demo, perhaps this is the point where the discussion needs to get back on track, sinse discussions about discussions and about who meant what when they said what tend to be somewhat circular. Regarding PG13, well no, they arent the most serious, ultra professional runs and commentary, however theyre really no worse than a lot of the lets plays on Youtube and indeed made me laugh on occasion, which is fare enough, indeed given that most sighted people dont believe blind people have any degree of humour at all there is even an arguement for the lets plays being good in tone in that they match other gamers, (this is one reason I try to be humerous in the news). I stick the Pg13 links on the db because they have stable hosting and are easy to find, and I can be sure theyll be around, just like
the podcasts on the Aplevis site or those hosted by Kelly sepergia, or indeed mine from Sendspace come to that. If anyone wants to post another topic and post links to the perminant, or at least substantively long lasting hosting of their podcasts, audio tutorials or whatever about games Ill be glad to update the correct bits of the db, though note I dont see the point of posting just plane audio playthrus with no commentary or perspective.Actually I really ought to look up Bryan Ps lets plays on youtube and stick links to the playlists up as well.

I cant figure out the hacking interface clicks. Id be willing to make my own modified files like @stickbear did, but the files are called hack 1 through Hack4, and in the game, up and down arrows, when pressed, dont even produce a click, so I dont know if 3 is up and 4 is down, or what. I would love to know how he figured that out, or how others have managed to successfully hack doors. Otherwise, this is an awesome game and Im looking forward to the next game in what is apparently becoming a series.

Thats no bug. If you use NVDA, the speech wont read the same repeatedly. For example, if you press b and it says Go north 35 tiles but you missed it because you were fighting some zombies, and you press b again, without the message having changed in between, NVDA wont read the same again. You have to press control to clear it, and pressing b will give out the desired message once more.Im not sure if thats what you meant, but if so, I hope that helps.

A very fun game with excellent attention to detail, demonstrated by the accurate and high quality sound design, voicing, music, game specific sound effects, and crowd ambiance taken from the show its self, and support for screen readers with an uncluttered and easy interface. From a developer that seems to actually interact with the community in a meaningful way, and went through with an idea all the way from start to end.

Hi Dark. I think that also for this list of all games, needs to add ability to join the games in progress. Also what do you think about tournement sistem? An other problem regarding the small list of players is the time for adding new games. The last games like zonbie dice, tossup and pig are the same thing. Adding a poker game, a rulette, a trivia contest or other games will be great. Also a domino, backgammon, othelo or other game board titles will sound nice.

For those that have trouble hacking doors because the clicks arent distinctive enough, like me, I present to you this zip file! It contains the directions (left, right, up and down) spoken by yours truly. Download the zip file and extract it to your DMPA\sounds folder. The files are named hack1.ogg, hack2.ogg, hack3.ogg and hack4.ogg. Replace those files with the ones from the .zip file and you should have a much easier time hacking doors!https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/158 … Easier.zipNow, for those that want to make their own files, hack1 = right arrow. Hack2 = left arrow. Hack3 = up arrow and Hack4 = down arrow. Hope this helps some of you! Now, time to check out Death Match, a New Beginning!

Re: Want To Learn Programming

You are right about only needing 6 keystrokes, technically. I would hate to see your productivity, however. My build is about 3 keystrokes (jom). My debugger lets me have everything. C# doesnt have a good debugger if youre blind and Java may not. But everything else Im aware of does. I have the ability to go line by line and pull out variable info, CPU registers, and contents of specific memory addresses if needed. Im almost sure I have watchpoints, but have never once needed this functionality, so I cant tell you. Again, all of these things are two keystrokes or so plus a name. In fairness, most of this works in VS with Jaws, to one extent or another, but the sheer amount of time needed to switch from window to window is insane. As for GUI development, yeah, I suppose theres the sighted person approach. I dont develop stuff with GUIs. If I did, Id do
it some myself as I can get far enough that things arent overlapping, and then ask sighted people to describe what theyd like it to look like. I suggest looking at system.windows.forms.FlowLayoutPanel and system.windows.forms.TableLayoutPanel. These are helpful. most other GUI frameworks have equivalents, and the irony is that the designer starts to fall down hard if you start talking about devices with anywhere from a 5 inch to a 50 inch screen. Surprisingly enough, as of Windows 10, this appears to be the case.

Hi there, and thanks for your information.I use visual Studio 2013, with both Jaws and NVDA. Im not a profesional developer, obviously, but I have some experience programing for personal purposes: scripting, some criptography games, tools for audio editing, a couple of engines to search and download files from file sharing services, plus contributions to standart visual amateur games, ETC.My workflow is as follows: once my application is ready, I ask a sighted friend to format and arrange controls on the forms I made. Its not perfect, but again, doing it by command line dont solve tthe problem.Autocompletion and intelliSense works well for me, no workaronds needed... Looking variable values certainly are not accessible friendly, but, well, notepad dont let you anything simmilar .You have o learn some keystrokes, but no more than 6
(toolbars and contextual menus will save the day)..; on the other hand, you will not need anymore commands for compyling, lists and more lists of properties, fields, classes, etc, etc, cause you can select dinamically from the corresponding menu, and intellisense remembers recent selections...I am not saying Im not able to memorise new keywords, as Sherlock Holmes said: Sometimes I have to delete something!. Lol.The reasons that made me interested in Python are: cross platform capabilities, its numerical computing performance and pure curiosity...However, c# or any .net, in my opinion, are fully usable to develop windows forms applications and simple games (VIsual Studio 2013 and Jaws 16 or NVDA). Its fast, secure and free. Anyways, I understand python its a much better option to develop powerful tools and port them to other platforms.@TwardI completelly agree, I admit, its nothing but a personal prefer
ence. What Im trying to say its that a lot of people think there is no alternative, and fortunately, its not te case. It was when I started programing: or notepad or nothing!(Ah, thanks for your great games).I have to finish a translation to c# of the language tutorial included in BGT... One day... And maybe some podcast demonstrating howtos in C# and Visual Studio, if someone interested.Excuse this long, long post. Nevermore!

Im obviously English, and can have a stab at accents if needed, generally just let me know what you fancy and Ill have a stab at it.I dont have anymore demos of my speech but Heres a small archive of me singing which includes MAster of the House from Les Miserables, which is sort of a commic character song and rather more spoken than sung so should give you an idea of what Id be like playing a scummy character, though bare in mind these were recorded in a professional studio and not with my Rowland voice recorder. As to Turtlepowers comments on gameplay, while I did get the idea of emulating Cyoa, its a mistake to assume that Cyoa automatically
equals an easy game. Choiceofgames have specialized in producing a scripting language which lets people create very complex choice based text adventures, as well as marketing their own, for an idea of the level of complexity go to the make your own games page and check out something like Zombie exodus, theyre also available on Ios and other platforms as well (I play them on Ios myself). It is true they are text, but I do love the way theyve used a percentile stats system to create difficulty in Cyoa, without recourse to really obscure open door with cat type of puzzles like the ones that occur in usual interactive fiction. I dont agree with Turtlepower about the fighting, unless your specificaly designing an rpg or have some sort of fun mechanic for fighting like the Insult sword fights from Secret of Monkey Island, but it wouldve been nice if your decisions had at least a
little cost to them, sinse the fact that there was no jeopardy or chance to lose really took the tention out of several situations, indeed when I first played I tried to pick logical choices, then when I played a second time I tried to deliberately lose, wandering into Arthurs throne room and demanding the Grail which I fully expected to result in Hank losing his head, while it was humerous he didnt I was in a sense a tad disappointed. Glad to hear the next game will be a little less unloseable.

Re: Announcing the release of Grail to the Thief

I suppose if the game had been more difficult overall, the lack of fighting wouldnt have been a deal breaker. As it is, though, I could have used a little excitement in the form of a nice battle, complete with some of the punch lines that were the games strong point. The other reason I brought up sword fighting in regards to this particular game is because I feel that, in those times, people were always patrolling and guarding their treasures. Maybe thats stereotypical, but it does seem to me that they put up a lot less of a fight than they would have if it had happened in real life.

@Bogdan, I dont really feel the time for adding new games is a problem, Rs games have added new ones pretty regularly, and actually ive been happy that thyeve added some games that are new to me and some less traditional games like Cards against Humanity. While I wouldnt disagree poker or backgammon would be fun, at the same time there are other places to play those, but only one place for games like Zombie dice.Myself Id like to see some more interesting boardgames added, particularly the fantasy themed ones like talisman or the zombie game all flesh must be eaten, Ive always wanted to play those. To be honest though the only really major lack is the one I mentioned, ability to get notifications of newly public games while playing against the bots. I actually think they have tournaments already, or at least when I was on the other night there was a news message mentioning a tournament.

Each different color means you can hit him with a different type of attack (dice, knife, dragon strike scroll). Unfortunately, I have forgotten which color represents which attack type, but Im pretty sure it goes in a cycle.

Re: Want To Learn Programming

@Guitarman2.7.9 is fine. There are no major incompatibility issues unless you go to 3. Almost no one is on 3 for something real, though we might be headed that way in a year or two.@AlanThe comments about IDEs are true if you are sighted. Modern versions of Visual Studio are not accessible to the point of being convenient, though you can use them if you are on Jaws or possibly Window-eyes. You still have issues, though. If you arent, all the debugger windows do not work at all. Idle is not accessible, at least with NVDA. Pycharm and anything else by IntelliJ? Not accessible. The tools that a blind person could benefit from include autocomplete and debugging. Everything else---all the parts sighted people like to do with color and all that? They dont pertain. There is a possible argument for automatic formatting, but you can get that in your text editor anyway or just run your stuf
f through a command line program.I know and have known quite a few programmers working in the professional workplace who all use the command line, and many of them are younger than me (18-19 age range). I have it on good authority that Amazon uses command line development for Android app development, though this is word of mouth and consequently I dont have something to site here. As soon as you start something that is client and server, i.e. basically all of industry, youre going to need the command line for lots of stuff. The biggest C++ projects in the world tend not to use IDEs either, most notably llvm which uses Cmake. Many big projects like PostgreSQL are accessed through the command line and configuration files, too. The only people who try really hard to force the IDE are those who wish to lock you to a platform, at least in so far as I have seen. The command line approach lets you go lots of places because it
;s mostly the same, but learning an IDE makes it very hard to leave that IDE, so god help you if its in any way platform specific. There are also some indications that microsoft has begun to realize this, as well: one of the demos my uncle attended in his role as manager of a big MS stack web company had Microsoft being excited to show off that you can use any editor you want with their new stuff that now runs on Linux, and Windows 10 has reworked the command prompt entirely to give better editing.Youre also wrong about Python. Im not going to claim that one language is best, but Im not going to allow misinformation either. C# is not popular in this community. I think theres like 2 or 3 finished projects in it. Python and C# are about the same, though, if you go outside it. The truth is that a majority of games for the sighted are written in C++ and using something else is niche no matter what it hap
pens to be. Wx is an accessible GUI library with examples, Pyglet is an accessible keyboard/mouse/graphics/sound library with good tutorials, and Pygame is incredibly popular for teaching new programmers game programming and has more documentation than the proceeding two combined. C# game tutorials normally start by having you instal something else; this is typically SlimDX or XNA, as I recall from when I did my C# time. There is one fast way to audiogames. This is BGT. It will jump-start you in that you can get sound working, but the only source of documentation you have is BGTs manual itself, and youll leave once your project gets big enough. Outside that, its equally difficult to get keyboard and sound working in everything. It is true that C# will give you access to windows messages pretty quickly, but no one works at that level; in addition, pip install pyglet at a terminal is equivalent to like 10 steps in
Visual Studio, and I need only run it once, ever. It is true that I had to post the other thread about Pyglet recently, but things like that particular issue can happen in any language; Im sure something like it exists in C#.And Im not sure how .net is higher level than Python. .net seems to be about the same. Im thinking you dont actually know Python. Most Python concepts have an equivalent C# concept, and most C# concepts an equivalent Python one. Most of the things that are left have to do with core philosophy: whether to be statically or dynamically typed.

Re: Three Monkeys

Guys, you misunderstood me, so Ill explain again.Im not saying a demo isnt good. Im saying asking for a demo multiple times isnt going to change things. Whether we have two articulate people in this thread suggesting that a demo is a good idea, or twenty-six people all clamouring with varying degrees of readability about how they need a demo, the fact is simple: we cant make it happen. Arguably the devs know what they have to do in order to be successful, because weve tried to tell them; if they do it, thats great, and if they dont, thats their fault and their problem. Yes, we lose out, but saying the same thing over and over again isnt going to change things. Also also, just a side note here not related to a demo at all...but I really, really hope that PG13s lets play features dont act as a sort of measuring-stick for blind lets plays in general. To be pe
rfectly frank, every PG lets play Ive listened to has made me want to hit something. Whether its the that was easy thing, or the really silly and ill-timed jokes, or the simple silliness of the back-and-forth commentary...well, lets just say it makes me not want to listen. Put it this way: Ive been really eager to hear a full LP of Papa Sangre 2 and I couldnt even get through half of theirs. As such, I hope that devs and others dont view the PG13 lets plays as the sort of publicity their product ought to expect and is apt to get. I know that probably comes across as extremely scathing, and if either of the PG13 creators reads this I apologize for voicing a heated opinion in such a forum, but...well, this is an uphill battle, and Id rather put our best foot forward. The bits of the LPs Ive heard definitely dont represent putting our best foot forward.

Sometimes, 7zip will give that error message, even when a file has downloaded fully. This seems to be a persistent problem in the newer versions. Have you tried running it, or used another program to unzip it?I also agree that not everyone is going to use Firefox for whatever reason. Telling people to use a specific browser, even if you and I know its better than IE, really doesnt make you look very understanding or professional. At this time, the best mud clients are:PHudBase Web Mud Client:http://www.phudbase.com/wm_client/ChroMUD:https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta … bcfo?hl=enKeep in mind, you will have to Chromevox-up/down acordingly, to read info, as with both, it is not automatic.Unless there is a web based telnet client that supports ARIA, those are the current mud clients for Chrome that I know of that work well.

Re: Pipe 2, Blast chamber and other old BSC titles on windows 8.1?

I got troopanum 1.5 and 1.6 working on windows 7 by just pasting the dlls I needed into the same path of the executable.I used an old win xp machine to get the dlls, and the ones I didnt have I downloaded. The installation went smoothly after that, but with unpacking the sounds I had some problums. I ended up using goldwave for the sound conversion and after that I ran the configuration program again, as admin. After I entered my name and such, I saved the configuration program, and ran the troopanum game, also as admin. It worked perfectly.

bee, you either get one point reset per 24 hours or one point reset per level.as far as bringing back banned chars, they would have to buy either a new gamer account or get their first one. im pretty sure you shouldnt be able to import banned chars into a new one, but im not sure. they wouldnt be able to use their same names they used before though. hope that helped bee.

Re: Three Monkeys

Thanks Lukas. That was exactly my point. I just kept my mouth closed because I didnt know how to explain myself better that I did. Im glad not all people misunderstood what I ment. Its of course okay to not agree on what Im saying. At the moment, people dont know much about what they are donating to. Its of course up to the developers if they wanna release more information or not before the campaign runs out. They have wrote in some of the comments that more information will be released soon, but I just dont hope thats too late.It would be cool to share the information to a lot of friends, saying that if theyll donate to this project, theyll get a game with the following features, unlockables, big World, takes long t
ime to complete, Unique features etc. Then, send an audiorecording of the game in their direction and tell them to donate if they wanna see this game.I dont say the information we have so far is useless, thats not what I mean. But more information would be really great, since many blind people might think that audiogames with great audio is not new, and people might not know exactly what to look forward to, and many people might not have any idea on what great audiogame well get if the developers manage to get all the Money. All those Money can only be the result of something totally awesome. So, when the developers are giving out more information, we might get a better idea on what great game they have in mind. Im sure more people will be willing to donate if they get something more conkreet.Again, its okay to not agree on this, but I hope Ive explained myself good enough this time.

Re: is there any way to play guitar on my computer and to record it?

Another option is to use a multieffect box either as the usb interface if it has that option or send its output to the soundcard. Nowadays they have quite decent amp and cabinet emulation so if you dont mind fiddling with the knobs, you can get quite good tones out of them. Of course these boxes can have some accessibility problems, so you have to try them and read the manuals to kno how usable they are.

Re: suggestion for a game to be acsessible

Sounds like a breakout varient. There is already an accessible version, rebound (look it up in the database). Unfortunately, I doubt making it accessible would be easy sinse it essentially would mean rebuilding the game from scratch with audio rather than graphical sounds for the ball bouncing, the ball hitting the bat etc, but there is already one breakout audiogame as I said (two counting the pcs games one although that has a gun not a ball), and it wouldnt be difficult for someone to make another in the future, its not really much harder than pong.
