A few Blind Legend questions

Hi all,I'd like to ask a couple of things about the recently released 1.2 (I believe) update to the iOS version of A Blind Legend.Has anyone managed to defeat the demon in the misty forest on the hardcore difficulty yet? I remember I did this several times in the previous versions, i.e. without the hardcore difficulty, with ease, but now I can't seem to be able to actually kill her no matter what. I have already purchased unlimited lives because I was frustrated at having died about 5 times within 15 minutes or so, but I'm just no longer patient enough to have to walk through the entire forest again and again every time I fight her, considering the incredibly long loading delays. I always get to the stage where she says I must die, makes the final epic big scream, and then I always die in flames no matter what. :-) I've tried to hit her either many times in a row or just a single time at a precise moment anywhere between when she is speaking the dy
 ing sentence, when she is screaming and when there is the brief silence between that scream and the actual attack, but still no luck. So, is there a bug or do I have to actually time my attack within just a couple millisecond window?Another matter I'm interested in is how many noticeable differences there are between this most current iOS version and the PC version on Steam, except game controls and probably much better performance on the PC, of course. If there are any others, I'll probably finally muster enough willpower to overcome the anoying Steam interface and actually install the client and buy the game even in this version because the developers really do deserve our support for this amazing milestone in audiogame history, I believe.Thanks,Lukas

Hi Omar,Sneak is pretty much right, I believe. I tend to think the 1+1 line is there just for the sake of the example, so that something else is done in the main loop besides the wait calculation.I personally would do this still a bit differently, though. If your game is structured in such a way that you have the big main loop where everything is handled (reacting to the game controls, the enemy and item behavior, updating sounds etc), then you should actually need only one wait call inside that main loop where it waits for 5 ms. There should be no real need for any other wait calls anywhere else as far as I can tell. I'm currently working on a game where up to 60 sort of enemies can be active at the same time at most, that's when you play on the highest difficulty, and they hardly ever die and can be pretty active and diverse because they have about a dozen different states of behavior. That means I have to loop through all of them at all times, in other wo
 rds on every iteration of the main loop, to check their conditions and trigger the proper behavior as needed, which changes quite often. No lag whatsoever, although I've tested it just on my own computer so far, which is a Lenovo laptop with a 3 something ghz dual-core processor with hyperthreading. Still, my experience so far suggests this is a good way to do things in terms of performance.Remember that the more places where you tell the game to wait, the more times this wait interval is actually added up at the same point in time. If you wait for 5 ms in the main loop and then for another say 2 ms every time an enemy acts, and you have say 5 active enemies at the current moment, that's actually a 15 ms wait on every iteration of the main loop, which means 15 ms many times per one second. Then, when your enemy count goes up to say 30 several minutes later, that's 65 ms many times per one second in every iteration of the main loop. That should in theory create 
 a pretty noticeable lag already. This is assuming that you loop through the enemy list and make them act from inside the main loop itself.Hope this helps,Lukas

Well dang! I had to stop playing for a while, so I decided to save and reload the game later. Apparently saving and reloading isn't something that works too well yet.  And I had a good little community going, and I was trying to use different things that I hadn't done in previous runs too. Ah well, guess I get to try again.

What I did is dug in my mine until I had gold and diamonds than made rings and sold them and spent all of my money buying seeds and animals. I had to do three rings before I got everything I wanted and kept getting duplicates. That is the nice thing about multi-user is you can buy what you want instead of randem stuff. I did finally get seeds in the cash crops category and one of them was a flower. Then I got three more. LOLEach costed 100 coins too!Can't wait to see what he has in store for us next update!!Thanks where ever you are!A

Hmm. From what I can tell the commentator is supposed to say the names of the players most of the time, so that would mean you might not have extracted everything. You need the rosters to be properly installed, and you need to follow the instructions because there are 3 files that goes in your documents/nhl 2004 folder from the .rar file.I know where the puck is by listening with head phones where the passes ends up being. It's pretty hard to describe what sound does what, if I could find a way to record voice plus gameplay that would be a lot easier

Correct. I think the 3ds version of these games dum's this down a little bit. They dummied down streetfighter by making it easy to spam a certain move by pressing the top right and top left, or bottom right, or left, of the screen.

Throw in a bunch of other things it needs to loop through and you'll run into more issues.Wait is only important so that the processor doesn't stay at 100 percent for any extended period of time, and to allow other programs access to it. The small calculations you're doing in an audio game are severely minimal compared to most mainstream games that run on the computers we have today, so you really shouldn't be running into lag due to the processor. If you're experiencing lag, it's more than

Hi.I tried out the controller settings, but I am not sure if they are working, that's due to some problems I am having.First, I have the problem that there are no names which are announced. The comentator says for example things like picked up the lose puck, or just passed out in front, but I don't know who has the puck and of which team he is a member off.Also, I have the problem that offten the faceoff happens, and four secconds later, the opponent team scores a goal, that happens for maybe three or four times, than it's silent again.I also don't know which sounds are what. I hear for example a constant scratching sound, is that the puck or are these just the scates of the other players? And if so, I don't know the puck sound?I also sometimes hear a louder scratching sound, which is a bit shorter, it sounds like if you were to scate around on the ice and would turn, if you understand what I am saying.Also, I don't
  know what the other sounds are.Is there maybe a game mode where the actions can be tried out, just like a training mode maybe?

Thank you very much for that list, I find it extremely helpful.I have 93 of the games so far, and haven't completed the intellectual world, so knowing what games are left and which worlds some of the more obscurely named games come from when unlocking them through online matches is pretty useful.Just a few small things though, you have one of the games from the forest world's name wrong, it's not "micrological" walk, it's "mycological" walk, mycology is the study of fungi, and it should be electric root not electric current in the factory world.Also, space invaders should probably be grouped with the other space games, as it's the first in that set.I think you've got them all though! Pretty impressive...However, I'll double check and let you know if you have anything missing.Once again, thank you for taking the time to do this, and for organizing the list so well.

You have to go to the options menu (put your cursor on play now and go up once then press the END key) and then left click, then select controler options. You will see the actions and the corresponding number, that number is the button on your keypad. Click the number and then press the button you want for the corresponding action.

thanks dark, I set the design to retro and enabled visually impaired help, which switched me over to the old designer which is used with buttons and listboxes rather than click and drag. On the note of trying the game from what I've seen I really recommend it. It can be played casually or it can be played very seriously all with compoazing lyrics for songs and things. One thing I enjoy a lot about this game is that there's not only the music aspect but also other jobs, partying, possibly drugs or alcahol if you wanna go down that root, and an equally large portion of city management where cities have their own fasillities that can be used to work, do some recreation and things. From what I can tell those locations actually are real locations but I could be wrong there. There's even a way to get in trouble with the cops for things like vandalism and probably drugconsumtion. I also heard something about weapons and pvp but I haven't actually seen where this is po
 ssible. There's even an option you can set for your online status if you're drunk and want to let people know you may not be able to take responsabillities for your actions! Thank you very much for that list, I find it extremely helpful.I have 93 of the games so far, and haven't completed the intellectual world, so knowing what games are left and which worlds some of the more obscurely named games come from when unlocking them through online matches is pretty useful.Just a couple of small things though, you have one of the games from the forest world's name wrong, it's not "micrological" walk, it's "mycological" walk, mycology is the study of fungi.Also, space invaders should probably be grouped with the other space games, as it's the first in that set.I think you've got them all though! Hello everyone.I've come a long way with a game I'm working on, but am noticing it lags, quite a lot with lots of objects of a class on screen.I have an item system which only loops through the items every time the player takes a step.For the enemies and AI, I have it loop through while the game lives.With anything less than 40 enemies, it is fine. But any more than 40 or sometimes even 50, it starts to lag and audio gets choppy.In the old days of messing around with bgt I used to loop through a board of enemies, like demonstrated in the bgt windows attack example.Now I have an array of enemies I loop through, and I only (at least I think I do) loop through the list of existing enemies.I call wait pretty often in my while loops, and even in my check enemies or whatever I need to check functions.I've not yet tried the garbage collection thing, as my game really doesn't have any real point where I can let the bgt en
 gine stop and take a rest.I understand this is quite a broad subject and depends quite a bit on code (mine is quite awful I admit) and will be willing to work with someone in private.If any of you bgt guys or any of you in general have any ideas, throw them at me and I will try them and see if the results have improved.I'll try and submit sudo code for what my game is and what it does.For those of you who have played sammy center, there is a game in there called wall breaker. Your trying to survive while enemies are attempting to break down the structure your surviving in.Mine is more or less the same thing, except mine has some slight changes which I will do my best to list here, but not give the game away entirely.When the player first starts out, the game places them on a random place of the lower left corner of the map. Anywhere between 60 and 150 items are generated, depending on your specs, and dropped on the map, ready to be picked up.
 No enemies are spawned on the map until a minute or so later.There are some AI, which I loop through in a while statement, which is the main one I use for player and all other functions while the game is still going.The AI is responsible for helping the player collecting items, and walks, generally, once every 650 to 950 ms.There are usually no more than 3, and they do actually die off, some right away, others several minutes later. I remove them from the array when they do die off so it's one less enemy to loop through when it comes time.The items I only loop through when the player moves, which the game could sort of care less how many are on screen I usually keep no more than 150 on screen.The enemies though I think are where the bottleneck is.Unfortunately I've tried using the bgt profiler and the results given are not really what I was looking for unless I'm just not understanding the result.Anyway, back to what I w
 as saying.After roughly 1 minute passes and this goes until you die, this time also decrements each time enemies spawn, some enemies will spawn on the map. I believe it's 1 to 5 enemies per spawn.They will last, anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes, and attack your structure, this variable usually varies from enemy to enemy, 3000 to 15000 ms.The lag really becomes apparent about 7 to 12 minutes into the game and if you don't have that great a pc, where there are a lot of enemies on screen.I could in theory make enemies live considerably shorter lives, and make them do more damage to keep up with there current damage in total to your structure, if that's what I need to do to minimize lag on as many machines as possible.Currently I've found the game runs fine on the following specs, this is kind of the minimum specs I guess.Probably something no less than an Intel core i5 running at 2 ghz with only 1 to 2 gb ram, hyperthreading recommend
 ed.I've tested on an old laptop with an AMD CPU clocked probably somewhere around 1.85 ghz, 2 gb ram, and it runs, fair enough until about 7 to 12 minutes in to the game.I hope this was good enough and if you have any ideas, throw them here and I'll try and see what I can do.Thanks!

If you go to the main page and use the "search games" function, you can for example show all the games with a freeware or donation license, the majority will be for windows, though the Ios and android section is going. Also note that some of the games listed as "Subscription" can be played for free as well, particularly the mmorpgs and muds.If your looking for erotic games specifically, I don't know about the darkroom sex game, but you could try some of Jim Kitchin's games like dungeon master and winspank, or games like flexible survival. Hello there,I have taken CS50x course on EdX.org to fill my time in summer, but the project I have to do for the week 0 of the course is with Scratch, a graphical programming environment that is not at all accessible. Don't any of you by any chance know something that helps me to do my work? I think I'll get one of my family members to help me, but I honestly don't understand the thing much, even though I'm not a stranger to programming. Prizmo's cheeper, and Voicover does give you realtime guidance, but precision is still very much necessary, and the guidance isn't nearly as specific. Best to stay with knfb reader.

When you have the NHL 2004 active, press insert+f2 and go to settings center. Go to web/html, then images/graphics. Change the include images so they include all of them and press ok. When both teams are selected, choose your team by either moving right or left with your analog stick, left is the away team and right is the home team. The play button is labled as "play", it's on the top of the page.

It falls into the same category as Street Fighter, Rhythm Heaven Fever for WII, etc. that are playable because there are enough audio queues. As for the 3DS, while the setup will require some sighted assistance, it is possible to locate and play inserted game cartridges independently, and games can be bought through a PC, which helps aleviate the need to use the EShop on the console. Rhythm Heaven megamix is also far from the only playable game for the 3ds.

At figment, just a little thing i noticed once. If you use jaws OCR feature on the window where you have a virtual machine open, you don't have to have a screen reader running on the virtual machine. While the text might be a little scrambled, it's nice to get through login screens, on linux distress for example. You might try it to monitor the behavior of the failed password screen for your program of choice. Hope this makes sense, just woke up lol.

@Raygrote, I suspect the turn issue is as you described because yes, I did assume that turns worked as they did in pappasangre and audio defense which is precisely why i was confused as to why I was dying on a comparatively easy sectionn.My problem with louise is more that the developers have billed the game as a realistic experience of navigating in audio, that and the problem of feeling like I'm dependent upon someone else. I actually don't mind navaids in games from a logical perspective, since after all what do we try to do with guide dogs, canes, and more recently devices such as satnavs, as opposed to having someone yell a lot and make you stand out, I did guess louise would go missing later, but it's not really her gameplay function I mind so much as the idea that this is giving sighted people a semi realistic experience of what it is like to be blind.Were the game just billed, as blind swordsman for example is, as a completely fantasy game that
  just is a bit of fun with audio, I wouldn't mind so much, but hay I'm quite willing to say "Well it's a game" and see how things go, I certainly enjoyed the games by Somethinelse.

I've never heard of any mapping commands in Aardwolf, maybe they just meant mapping ie, drawing or making a map of where you go? Mushclient has a speedwalk feature, but the runto commands in Aardwolf largely negate the need for that, since you can pretty much get to anywhere fairly easily, plus the aardwolf wiki is pretty comprehensive (there are even very nice directions for the vidplane area if your using a screen reader). The major problem I had in Aardwolf wasn't so much the mapping, it was a combination of first getting equipment, since knowing what I need where was a bit of a pain and the articles on the wiki were somewhat obscure (especially if you didn't have enough quest points for quest gear), and also some of the goals in the game were not exactly clear and unlike with many other aspects of gameplay people there didn't seem as disposed to help.

@momo7807, the water is east (on the start, that's right) of the clay, west/left of the grass. When you first create your account, you can just press up arrow a fiew times and you'll already be at the water, you allways spawn there for the first try. There is a water bottle in your survival pack, combine it with your hand to open it. You also have a bag of cups, each of them can have 5 water in it when filled. To find items, you press m and read what's in the menu. for finding diferend landtipes like clay or tree, you press k. after that, just walk twords it and press n to see how far it is from you.

Hi.Thanks for that new demo, I will surely listen to it when I come back from the Docktor.I hope I get by now where the start game button is, It's getting quite anoying right now cause I am feeling to stupid to get how a freaking game works.Which keys are you actualy using to navigate the menu with the jaws cursor?I am using the arrow keys in conjunction with the control key, mostly I use the left and right arrows and the left button click on the numpad.

I look forward to get more information about the Sony Playstation VR. Why? Because this have speakers all around the face, or something like that, as far as I have read. This will give the full surround sound, and the developers can make it directly as they want us to hear the sound, because this is one standard headset, and not some random speakers, which are very different depending on what people have...

Yeah. It would be fantastic if someone would work on an official guide and explain how the game is played, or simply stop announcing that a game is playable, when there is no help to get when people buy it, because of this announcement... I will only get the game, if such guide is being released. I'm done buying games and hope they are playable, at leased for a while...

Hi.Are you sure that there is no way around jumping and platforming? You can some times hear where your partner is, and jump in this direction. that's what the visual impaired girl I know told me. I look very much forward to hear your demo. It would be so awesome, if you either can record this in stereo, tell in which directions the sounds are comming from, or most importantly, wait to see if the partner gives you any hints on what to do.
