To anyone who had issues running CHARM before.This is an in between versions version, so some features are halfly implemented, like the saving of settings, keyboard shortcuts (CTRL SHIFT F11 for toggle), and custom volume in the menu.However, the most notable change should be that I think I found a fix for everyone who had problems running it before. Please give this a try and tell me if it works for you.

Re: How can I get Kodi to speak with NVDA?

I just discovered a trick to enable and disable the screen reader with out having to launch kodi.What you need to do is go to where kodi stores the settings for your addones, usually it's located in %appdata%\kodi\userdata\addon_data.If you got kodi from the windows store, then finding your settings can be a bit tricky.Once there, look for a folder called service.xbmc.tts.Hit enter and look for a file that says enabled or disabled.Simply change the name, depending on whether you want the screen reader to start when you run kodi.It's a longer way of doing things, but at least you're not fiddling around with registry keys.Now, if there was a way to tell which screen reader to launch at startup, that would solv memorising key presses or getting a sighted person to configure the screen reader for you, cause let's face it, even when you have your configuration set to start using NVDA, it doesn't stick when
 you update to version 17, at least for me it doesn't.

Re: dungeons and dragons or, DND as many call it.

2017-03-06 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : Dark via Audiogames-reflector

Re: dungeons and dragons or, DND as many call it.

Well first, D isn't the only tabletop role playing game (what are sometimes disconcertingly called pen and paper games, (though pen and paper aren't actually necessary). There are many others, from science fiction games like fading sons, to modern urban fantasy like white wolf, to the wonderfully sort of otherworld historical swashbuckling setting 7th sea, indeed there are people who say recent editions of D have changed the rules rather too much and now it's more of a tabletop war game than an rp game, but since I've only ever played third edition of D and that was some time ago (now I think they're on sixth), I can't confirm.I myself played mutants and masterminds each week with several friends for a few years, --- a modern day superhero game though the gm had us go to everywhere from arcadia to outerspace (and for someone who is not a superhero  I really enjoyed it). that game finished due to the gm'
 s wife having a baby unfortunately. I've since done a couple of weekends playing 7th sea, which is great fun, last time I was a perminantly confused fifteen year old fate witch. The honest answer if your looking for something similar to a tabletop game online purely and simply your not going to find it. Firstly because no computer program has  ability to adapt like a human gm does to whatever the players do, and write a story around them, and secondly and more crytically, part of the fun of rp is that it is! real time, and social and atmospheric.It's the fun of coming up with stuff off the cuff and just sparking ideas off each other. You plane wouldn't get that online, even if you were playing with a small enough group of players (which most online games don't have). Personally I regard computer role playing games and tabletop ones with actual people as different things, and I enjoy them differently. computer rpgs
  (even muds which have multiple players), I regard as solo questing and exploring, and the stories involved I regard as the quests and story text of the game, likewise I regard the combat as statistical and often enjoy it just as an exercise. Tabletop rp is %100 different, and I'm afraid your just not going to find something like it. the best I can do is suggest some of the more story driven games we've seen. things like the choiceofgames gamebooks, the gamebooks on the ff project, king of dragon pass (which has one of the deepest stories I have ever seen),  maybe muds frandom etc, though even those aren't exactly like an rpg.Sorry I can't be more help, but as I to me computer rpgs and tabletop live rp with actual people are just too different and trying to find one thing in the other would be like trying to find a cut of roast chicken that tastes just like steak. They're both meat, they're both enjoyable, but they&
 #039;re fundamentally different things.

Hi all,I'm sure I've thoroughly annoyed you all with my questions concerning Macs, but I'm wondering if anybody has experience running Windows 10 on bootcamp.  In terms of battery life, how much juice do you get?  I usually get 3-4 hours depending on what I'm doing.  I have an MBPR late-2015.  I'm just curious if this is normal for this machine to only get this much battery, or if I should be getting more.  I read somewhere that someone was getting 8-9 hours doing graphic design with the screen brightness at 40%.  I have mine set down to 0%, battery saver on, and running only small apps.Any feedback would be cool.Luke

dungeons and dragons or, DND as many call it.

2017-03-06 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : amerikranian via Audiogames-reflector

dungeons and dragons or, DND as many call it.

so sup guys. I'm going to ask something unique today. before i do that however, you need to understand what DND is:DUNGEONS and dragons, or DND as many call it is basicly a collection of adventures, made up by you or bot from the DND store. they're run by dungeon masters, or DM's for short. these guys come up with most of the story, believe it or not. they're respawncible for balancing the game for weaker or stronger party, etc. some have there own rules, so each adventure you play cant be the same as the last one. but what I like about DND is that you're not limited to choices. you can do anything. yup. you can basicly kill yourself if you want, you can try to kill you're fellow players, you can convince someone to take a drink out of a fountin, etc. hell, you can pick someone up and just bash the door open with their head. it will probably kill the player and brake the door, but sure. you can. DND has stats like any other RPG, but what's
  unique is that you cant expect the same results each time you use a skill or cast a spell. same with the combat. you cant expect to attack first, even if you're the fastest in the party.there is a lot more, but if I'll go into that, you'll be here all night. my question is is there any online game like it? i don't want to press attack button till my enemy's die, or keep hitting it to train my stats, because that gets stupidly boring real fast, but i don't want to just have combat either. i want a good story, story that will keep you on you're toes. I'd love a browser game, but muds are ok, though I can play them much less then something in the browser. I'm using ios and typing in it is a bit of a pain. so yeah. open to suggestions.

Depends upon what you mean "focused on" If you mean star conquest style where you must! rp to progress and are limited entirely unless you do rp, then no. If you mean are there rp events, emotes, in game stuff happening, the answer is absolutely yes, though none are actually necessary to progress in the game and if you just want to do activities and missions that is fine as well.

I believe a character is 1 byte which is composed of 8 bits.If you have a dictionary of 8100 strings, your programming shouldn't be freezing. The reason your math was off: think of a multidimensional array as a list of lists. This is simplified out to a grid so you have the first element at (0, 0). Which is essentially saying the first element of the first list of the array.The initialisation code above I think is wrong, it should be:void main(){
  int[][][] test;
  test.resize(90);
  //No need to declare the variables before the for loop, you can declare them on the same line.
  for(uint i=0;i

I'm not too sure about cold-calling reception, I'd research names of individual UI developers on twitter and speak to them there first, but that's just me. either way I'd suggest a half-day hack session just to have an experiment and see what might be possible with the API, with you there to test stuff out as they go.

The problem with radegast is that sighted people can do 100 times what you can do in radegast, not a slur on the developer, as he I think didn't anticipate the use it would eventually come to, but yeah, let's just say you are missing out on... a lot.

Re: Voyageur, a light space exploration narrative

I am not sure, since while you keep your items, most of your traits are reset which is a shame since the traits seem to be the important thing but a lot of them I'm not sure if they progress the plot or not.This is why it would be nice to know there were more things to do if you played on until you got higher traits, or if there was an over all progress that finished if you played for long enough and went through enough systems.As I said I hung in until I several traits to over 10 but nothing seemed to happen, indeed the only trait that some sort of checks at higher levels seemed to be sights of the galaxy which acted almost as a score keeper.This is odd, since I would've assumed the understanding of the various factions would've helped with your progress a little more.

Re: Kickstarter Project for "A Hero's Call" from Out of Sight Games

So, short answer: if we can overcome some technical hurdles that we're facing, there is the possibility that we could publish "A Hero's Call" on Xbox. However, those technical challenges are pretty significant, and there's no guarantee either way. Either way, we will also be pursuing the possibility of releasing future opportunities on Xbox—it's definitely our hope that someday you'll be able to play one of our games on a console.Of course, bear in mind that the certification process to publish on a platform like Xbox or Windows is a major step, which developers who just self-publish and self-distribute don't have to deal with. What that means is that if we do release as a Windows 10 and/or Xbox app, I imagine the release would be later than currently anticipated. Of course it would open up a huge market and would be a pretty big milestone for accessible gaming, but it's still something to bear in mind.

2017-03-06 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : jack via Audiogames-reflector

Re: MKSpeech: Open source, Low cost notetaker

Tyler, I don't even think the Pi needs a license to be embedded into other devices. Modifying the board, adding parts, you name it, it's all part of the nature of a diy device. It's why they have the Pi0 which is more suited for embedded devices, but the Pi3 comes with more internals out of the box than the pi0 does, making it more suited for the notetaker. As for commercialization, well this is precisely the same argument that could be had about Android and its open sourced nature. You have the commercial android binary, and then you have the Android Open Sourced Project. But if you think about it, you could build your own android open source project, compile it, sideload Google Apps into it, and you've pretty much built your own Android tablet without the physical device. Sure, it's not a touchscreen tablet, but the software is near completely there. It's how Android x86 was forged. Yet Android phones are still selling strong. Granted, that argument
  is only half valid for the notetkare market, but this is exactly what I'm talking about. License something under gpl, and it can be copied as long as credit is given. If you think about it, would a technical illiterate *no offense* download a prebuilt image, or even compile the code themselves, or would they buy the notetaker? Yeah, they'd buy the notetaker, and I'm not even gonna sugarcoat, there are more technical illiterates in this day and age then there are literates, *again no offense* because tech as of today is designed to "just work." But that's a separate argument, my point basically is that more people are gonna buy the notetaker, especially in those developing countries.

I took tenier at a planet and started a new game from the same world, however I'm not sure how much I got in terms of bennifits since the "legacy" trait vanished the second I chose a new option, on the other hand, it didn't seem I was progressing that farsince I already had a full crew and lots of currency and had advanced several traits to ten (including sites of the galaxy which was at 15 and understanding ladder and alien signal), but nothing seemed to happen, unless I didn't hang in for long enough. I do think the game should have a "distance from galactic core" or something similar to tell you if your actually making progress an ending or standing still.

Re: Survive the wild, speed-hack alerts

Actually I do plan changing from Windows 8 to 10 in the near future, but since still exists a glimmer of hope to regain a small percent of my eyesight, (it keeps fading away by time, but it still does exist, and I won't give it up till the very last second), so I decided to wait untill that hope will finally disappear, and my blindness evidently becomes a permanent state, then I can have Windows 10 installed totally adjusted to "blind-usage", without all the prograams and games needed/used/played in my "sighted" period.Edit:Damnit, posting this made me cry...!!!Just think of GTA 5 Online...what a colossal game it was...the one with the very best, and nicest graphics I have ever played!You guys really should have seen the 2 red-head beauty-babes I created there, then kept outfitting them with various dresses, shoes, hairstyle, jewelry, make-up, tatoos, etc during the gameplay...Nor will I ever be capable of shooting pool again
  in my real-life...(I was an expert level pool-player You know)All I am able to play now are a quite limited number of audio-based computer-games, where players can mostly rely only on their own imaginations and fantasies...And I am prevented from playing even some of those properly, due oversensitive security-settings of certain paranoid game-servers!!!

Ah, I presumed you wanted to learn the innards of linux because you are offering to host game servers. Managing them properly might also require some more experience in debugging issues etc. But what you could try is register the dlls/ocx files listed in the old swamp register.bat files with wine regsvr. I'd need to download an ubuntu iso to test it myself, and I am on a 2 mbit connection, so I can't test for you.

Re: Eurofly, first geographical atlas and flight simulator for blinds

@Telemachus it really depends on a lot of things like LordLundin said; what aircraft your flying, speed, distance. It's really down to your judgment. It's best to do it gradually or in one go closer to the airport. Let me play out a scenario for you to show you how I would do it.let's say I''m in a Boeing 747 (at 990 KMH) headed for an airport at 10,000 feet. At about 50 metres from the airport, I would start descending. because my speed is a little higher than normal, I would start to slow down at about 20/15 kilometres from the airport. In some cases though I have done it much later depending on the situation. In extreme situations, because I would consider myself to be very experienced, I have cut one or both engines on the game (wouldn't suggest this unless you really no what your doing and in a faster plane, you have to get your speed back and if you don't it will stall). I will always make sure I am at landing speed about
 5/4 km from the airport. hope that helps

Re: Linux: Wine issues

I'm sorry for the way I'm saying this, but you're not being much helpful at all, but you're starting to get quite annoying like most other Linux geeks..My issue is not to learn how Linux works. That's what I'm learning by experimenting on my server. Yes I have broken the server a lot of times already. Regarding my issue which is described detailed in the first post, I have of course searched on Google. I have looked in forums and all that crap. I have even tried to register on the Wine forum to ask for any help, but since I'm not a Linux geek, I failed.This is the reason for I'm asking for help on how to get the thing to run using Wine. Last year, I asked in an other topic for peoples recommendations regarding to what server I should use. I got told that Wine can run Windows servers.So, the answer I'm getting is: Thi
 s is a VB6 program. Yes, I know that. Then I'm told to use Google. Yes I have done that, without any useful results.So, if you really know what you are talking about, you should install an Ubuntu server, get the damn thing to work which I've linked to in the first post and tell me how to do it.Throwing random suggestions at me and just tell me to search on Google just tells me that you don't know what you're talking about, or you can't tell me what I have to do to get the thing working in Wine.

2017-03-06 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : manuelcortez via Audiogames-reflector

Re: MKSpeech: Open source, Low cost notetaker

Hello,@28 Exactly because it will be open source it's why it will be more protected against this kind of situations. Say that you want to use the operating system, in fact you could. Being the software open source, nothing would stop you for taking the pieces and put them together for making your operating system as you want. You would do that in a VM, so it won't fix any of the problems a notetaker will fix (because you still would need any linux OS, and would need a PC). If you would like to take that code you will have to respect the GPL license, which means that if you use it, you still need to give me credits for that code, any modification must be given back to the original source, and you can't distribute it under a different license. I am planning to make a dual license so commercial use will be linked against another license, and personal use will be licensed under GPL, like MySql does, for example. So if someone would like to take that code for makin
 g his own notetaker and start to sell it without working, this person will have to contact me and talk about the commercial use of the projects that I have done.Finally I don't think it should be needed, but I still need to protect the work I have done and am doing in these set of projects. I think with A dual license I will allow devs to play with the notetaker as they want, they even could make applications (I am writing something like a set of libraries for drawing widgets and stuff with the interface I am creating for the notetaker) and if they want, they could distribute these apps as open source (or, if everything goes well, I would be willing to make like a store where they could offer paid apps if they like). It's not hard to make apps by using the interface, and there are lots of things that you could code. I am pretty sure this kind of opportunities are harder in other kind of systems and will add something different to this product from the user's per
 spective. Not only the person who made the device is able to add apps. At least that's how I see the future of the device and that's why I think open source allows much more this kind of scenarios than proprietary OS'S.

Re: Survive the wild, speed-hack alerts

Um yeah, I would suggest doing nothing to your computer. No extra software, no clean up, no hardware replacement, no re-formats, not even a single command in command prompt. Your PC is not at all the problem. Everybody has gotten at least one of these alerts and honestly there's no telling at all what causes them. Given that this is a multi player game, who knows, server lag or another client could be confusing the server, I don't know. There's no telling. But it's quite evident that you have nothing wrong with anything relating to your computer that is causing this, because I have specs 3 to 4 times less than yours and I can play every other audio game, and even mostly Red Spot and STW without getting alerts most of the time, and no other games give them to me.

Those specifications are just fine. In fact, you've got more RAM and drive space than I do. It sounds like someone has a lot of code to clean up.

Re: MKSpeech: Open source, Low cost notetaker

I think what a lot of people are forgetting is that this notetaker is primarily intended for developing countries, where people probably don't have as much money. In this situation, Linux is really the best way to go, because it's completely free, and can be modified by anyone, so it could create more interest in the open source community.Also, the Pi is running an ARM processor, so unless people have access to an ARM based PC, I don't think theft will be an issue.Although, ARM based PCs are becoming more likely, or so I've heard, but it'll probably be a while before we see any of them, if at all.

Re: MKSpeech: Open source, Low cost notetaker

there's a few things you might want to considder. 1. Being the fact that you're using a linux system for your main OS, that could lose you some money. The reason why, is that, since it's open source, anyone could copy it  and make new versions of it, install it on their computers, and not buy the actual product, making you lose money, in the end. Also, because you're designing the parts for the keyboards and such, you're going to have to have a good amount of money to help you make this a good product. The thing that made the BraillePluss not sell very many units was that the note taker market isn't that big. This is, in part why a BrailleNote costs almost 6 thousand US dollars. This is why JAWS costs as much as a new computer. This is why I don't buy JAWs, because, Why bother making my State buy that screen reader when NVDA reads more, is free and  doesn't make someone in the end spend ubserd ammounts of money to use a computer. A
 nyway, back to point. The blind tech market, isn't that big. If you just through your code and stuff out there for everyone to see, it could go one of 2 ways. 1, It could be knocked off and stolen, and you wouldn't make money off of it. 2, it could sell well, making more people buy the note taker, therefore making you a monopoly over the note taker market. This might show the other companies that making people spend enough money to buy a used car, is stupid, and that they would make more money if things were cheaper. Also, more people would be using Linux, which is good, if you make the interface consistant and easy, so not technically educated people don't panic if they see a CLI. Then, people will be more able to use linux, as a whole, making the linux cvommunity grow, more. Now, as far as the hardware goes, You might have to get a license to sell your modified pies, so you don't have the possibility of getting put in a legal war. Good luck.

Re: new game online! Desafio Mortal

You can't compare stolen code to themes in a book, but what you do compare it to is opening 2 separate books and literally 15 pages are identical except for a word here and there.  Stolen code is not about game Themes at all, stolen code is about code.  I bet the community where ripped and stolen content is normal, doesn't have the original authors as community members.  I've also seen groups that are stabbing people in the back for their own benefit/enjoyment, but you don't do that to your own people and expect everything to be fine.Draco, I think the difference between "borrowed" and stolen code would be permission from the developer.  Trying to know whether a game is using code from another game comes down to someone pointing out the evidence.  That is what happened here in this thread.

Re: A problem in bgt which I can not understand

2017-03-06 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : Rastislav Kiss via Audiogames-reflector

Re: A problem in bgt which I can not understand

Hello all,so I returned to the coding after small pause and begun with this project. I decided to not make directly dll and its joining when I don't know what will be the result, but I decided to take basic surface from bc (blindcraft, I know that there is similar project called with the same name hovever it is in unknown phase and I created title by myself for my product, so I will call it blindcraft while there is no concrete product from someone other) and coded it in c++. It was interesting work, I am not very experienced in this language so I started with making bgt_kit for c++, for this time only basic needed classes like file. After it I made few comparisons that will possibly not surprise pro developer, but I was really amazed:First - declaration of three dimensional array 200*200*200, bgt 4 seconds, c++ 1 second. Not very important, difference can be produced by bgt's resizing cycles which c++ do not need.- assigning array with values (part i
 ntegers), in this case array hat int type. Result: bgt 1 second, c++ 1 second.- assigning array with values (part blocks), now array hat block value, block is class with two variables, int id and string zone. Result: bgt 4 secs, c++ between 1 and 2 secs. It is interesting, looks like c++ have faster organization in its classes, but it is still not very important, few seconds is survivable thing if did only one time.- loading map from file, this is most interesting and most important part of this comparison, I will repeat what is program doing while loading from file:1. Load file to string variable.2. set pointer variable to 0 and call read_until function which will use the pointer variable to return text until given symbol. (note: by pointer is meaned int variable, not pointer as a type).3. this read_until function is called four times in one loop to separate x, y and z position of each block + its id, loop is called until function returns blank string
 , that means end of the file, so end of map too. In this step all returns are converted to int and assigned to the world array.And that is all, both languages hat the same or very similar functions and result? Bgt - estimated 55 minutes, c++ - 3 seconds!!!Someone can find my surprise very stupid, probably it is, I knew that bgt is slower than other languages because of byte code, but I did not know that difference can be counted in hours, days or veeks if there are larger maps. I will only add that loaded data was not size 200*200*200, air is not saved with the map and this was default layout (flat world) used for testing with volume 200*200*10. So imagine that this two languages are loading full map, possible later when I add things like mountains, mines etc., time 20 it is 20 hours for bgt, 1 min for c++.Testing was not made with something like timers or stopwatchs, I listened only for my clocks on wall, but ration between values is correct. Anyway small numbe
 rs are not important, I wrote about the main difference and there is no problem with measuring. Now I decided to remake bc in c++, It will be funny because I have no basics like audiolibraryes or some functions usable in audiogames, I must bring them from bgt, for audio I successfully compiled bass library used for example also in Eurofly, so I will look what I can do in c++, how similar can I do It to soundpool, if I have success, I will probably make it public for next beginning c++ ag developers.Thanks for reading, hope it wasn't too boring. GreetingsRastislav
