Re: Eurofly, first geographical atlas and flight simulator for blinds

Hi all.Well just finnished eurofly upto task 89.Now I get autogenerated tasks, but is this it?I mean I will continue to play it but if this is it, ie I won't be going higher,I may just backup my profile so I won't have to play the game again and just remove it till I want a romp, it took me 6 months to clock which is respectible as far as this traveling round the place game goes. And for what it was worth at the time though it was lacking in some respects it was quite good. But if the last 3 tasks have been generating I get 6000k of flying round variouses places, and its the same thing, ie I am told I have a hard flight which it isn't really, and then it goes like that.Is this it?Because this game is just endless crap if it is.While I was happy to continue as it was for fun, the fact is I would really like to generate my tasks, select series, write missions for it, etc.But if it generates its own tasks where
you go here and there with no excitement at all, then sorry but this game is now crap and dumb because now I have used all the content it is now dull and boring and crappy. If I had known that this was what I would get I am not sure if I would have downloaded it in the first place.Sure I get a high rank but it really doesn't meant anything.I was thinking that the game would actually end.For those that have completed it is there an end.Ie if there are 5-10 hard flights then the same medium flights then easy flights and maybe then a few really dangerous flights or something with the eventual goal you can make your own flights in a menu or something cool I will continue playing.Well at least spending a lot of time playing but if not, I am going to call it quits.I'll keep the game round since its a good relaxer but if this is it, in some ways I really wish that the game had an end like adventure at c has.I'd like a goal, with
out one, I am playing generated crap for no reason, if I have won, then the game should say so so I can delete it and move on.I am slightly dissapointed.I play the game, I can fly passengers then bigger planes then bigger planes then do majorly long flights, but the end goal is that I can do generated flights.Sorry, I don't buy it.For the basic look round the world that is fine. But its a bit of a downer now, the game could be so much more. And now I have completed it I can see why lord london and others have issues with it.The basic game is fine for the first little while, but the main tasks are ended.

Re: Warsim, text based randomly generated stratogy

@Bashue, That initial comment is one the nicest comments I've had about the game so thank you so much!I would love to allow the mad king to be freed, it was planned and will be done soon, as for the goblin slaver I'll have a look at it, I guess we could say once you ban  goblin slavery do you want to punish those who do it or just stop it from happening, if you choose the latter then perhaps you have the option to hire him, not sure what he could do for you though. It has been mentioned before, it would be interesting to have children in the game and marriage, I would have to figure out how you would find a wife, perhaps you could arrange for suitors to be brought to courtSome would be Nobility and with marriage you would gain resources, money, even a new land or a strong ally (the issue with alliances is most kingdoms arent even human) but aside from those gains, there would also be personality and trait based gainsso two suitorsAl
are of the North (Rank: Nobility) (Marriage Bonus: 1 Land 20 Knights)(Traits: Angry, Unfriendly, Financially Gifted, Lazy, Dishonest)Salaana of the Winds (Rank: Peasant)(Traits: Skilled Swordswoman, Friendly, Motivated, Honest)Alare would be instantly better and you would gain more public opinion as she is a noble, however, Salaana would produce better offspring as her traits are more desirable and would pass on to your kinI would also love to add some kind of cross breeding system, where you could mate with another race and produce some kind of abomination, this would not go down well though and your child would have to be kept hidden from the people or else you would lose face and be considered a maker of monsters

Re: death match project alpha update public beta

Greetings all. So in attempting to figure out how exactly to make this building system work, i'm wundering weather you guys would prefer a system where you'd need blueprints to build what would essentially be stock buildings, or weather you'd prefer a system that would let you design your buildings the way you wish, the first option would make almost every planet the same, but would be easier for people to use, the second option would be harder for people to use, but would allow you to customize each world you had, and i'd also be able to extend it to space structures such as ships and space stations. I can do the same with the first option, extending it for space use that is, but everything would basicly look the same. I'm still looking at how best to design resources, the new changes upset even the inventory and item system.

Re: Monthly chat march 2017

@guitarman, cool about the base amp. I confess anything with strings has never been my forte music wise. The singing thing is this saturday and the audition for the production of pirates is this sunday so hopefully our voices will hold up, that is of course assuming that the guy in the audition doesn't just do the "bugger off we can't have blind people on stage" which unfortunately I have encountered before. James Gripando is a name I recognize, though I'll have to ask my lady if she's read any of those. For me, most of my general reading matter is speculative fiction of one sort or another, fantasy, sf, horror etc, though I don't mind stepping out of that occasionally. My lady does enjoy murder mysteries and suspense on occasion and she does sometimes recommend me things. David Eddings is almost the definition of a very typical fantasy quest, companions from different countries meet up, travel around, evil gods, one of
his series even has the generic luke skywalker style boy hero. What saves him from being totally standard though is very witty dialogue, great characters and interesting politics. I will say if your reading Eddings I'd recommend his primary series more than his sequel series since when he tried to carry stories on he didn't quite achieve the same hights, so for example I'd recommend reading the first elenium trilogy, ie, the diamond throne, ruby knight and saphire rose, but not the second trilogy. I'm actually finding this opinion reinforced since right now I'm reading the sequel series to the belgariad books, and while I loved the belgariad, I am not liking the mallorean as much. If's definitely fun and nice to read, but not imho as good as the first lot. When I'm done with this though I fancy something sf. Actually since my lady and I have been doing the starwars films recently I might check out the ovelizations of
the second two, attack of the clones and revenge of the sith. the novelization of sith in particular was realy! amazingly awesome when I read it, and I think that was an abridged copy so now I've got my hands on the full book I definitely want to see what it's like, - after all what is more cool than a first hand description of what it feels like to be darth vader? Game wise, I am a little restricted since while I'm at my parents I'm on my xp laptop, though I do have vipmud on this machine. However with muds I seem to be running in to issues, eg, in cosmic rage I can't find a way to make the latest activities work, and four dimentions is great but I keep running into bugs, indeed I don't think I've found a game I have both really liked and also really been exasperated by quite as much as I am in 4d. I did however take a little time off recently to do some more crazy party which is cool, and I'm really! looking forward to see
ing what gets added next version. Anyway since it's close to five thirty in the morning over here i probably ought to cut this ramble short and get some coffee .

If you want a cheap media player, the Victor Reader won't cut it as it sells for about $370. I'd suggest looking at the players at www.talkingmp3players.com and see if those will meet your needs. If you think $70 or $80 is too high, you can always get the players at a cheaper price and install Rockbox on them. I used to own a player called the Sansa Shaker, but that device only supported SD cards up to 2 or 4 GB. That was about 10 years ago, so things could have changed. I'm going to go look at that product again. It was a nice little media player at the time. The device didn't have a screen and it played all my media. The only downside was the poor media time seeking and the fact that it wouldn't save my position when powered off.

Re: Braillemon status update!

@omerAn MSVCP100.dll error is specific to the windows operating system itself and can be the result of a number of things, such as a Registry, Malware, or Hardware issue. Its something that happens to some users, though solutions are often hit or miss. You can try installing the MSC++ 2010 SP1 redistributable MFC update [here] which will replace and update the file, as well as installing any available updates. The last person I came across with this issue was also running windows 7, and there was some issue that was preventing them from getting any updates that complicated things.

Re: Hello from EA - Madden NFL feedback

I'm working with someone on the game play team to come up with a list of features ranked for importance, and provide a detailed and specific description of each. This should help with deciding what's important and when audio or vibration should be used.@Hektor - the arrow is short and works similar to a compass. While running, it's also important to know if someone is within tackle range, and where they are coming from. I'll ask the game play team member if he can think of anything else that's important while running.

Re: Hello from EA - Madden NFL feedback

@ea_accessible, I am trying to keep up with these posts. I want you to know that, from my perspective, I think you are doing the right things. These actually would be the kind of questions I would be asking in my job.  With regards to the arrow, I would ask some more questions--but you might already have the feedback you need from the other great responses to your question. I would ask some details about how the arrow indicating direction works. Are we talking about an arrow that paints a path on the field or one that appears soewhere on the screen? Are the directions it can point in almost infinite or is there a very finite number of directions it can point? Just reiterating some of the other great ideas...  One option is to have a 3D sound come from the direction the arrow is pointing. In this case, the player would want to try to center the sound to tell them they are on the optimal path. Vibrations could also work for this--it sounds like. No vibrations means
you are on the correct path. Minimal to maximum vibrations depending on how far you are off the path. If vibrations can be differentiated from sides of the controller, you could use that like souds.  The player starts moving too far right and the right side of the control vibrates more than the left side.Of course, you may need to consider what other things the runner needs to know at the same time. I am going to guess that you will only be able to use vibrations to indicate one thing at a time?  And you might be able to use audio to indicate multiple pieces of information simultaneously.   With sound you also have the option of changing the position of sounds, changing the volume of sounds, changing the pitch of sounds, and changing the type of sounds.  What aspects of vibration can you control and vary?

Well I do hope the game gets rebalanced here since this is actually discouraging me from playing as right now it seems the only space activities I can do with any sort of reliability are salvaging, passenger transport and orbit cleaning, which are all very well but pretty boring if that is all I can do until I hit level 300 or so and have a ship with fast enough warp to find those sodding meteors or high enough defenses to survive in asteroid fields (assuming I find the dam asteroid fields in the first place).

Yes, some work needs doing, but I really do not what to tell you. Only other thing I would suggest is to upgrade your weapon range, but I am not to sure how good that would be for you seeing that you had problems with the combat drones. Last month or so, I took my heavy miner into a planetoid field to blow up a few planetoids only to limp back on warp to abattle station to repair a hull breach, a completely destroyed engine, and a completely destroyed landing gear. Now days, I take my star blazer out to planetoid fields simplely because of cloak and the weapons. Of course, that ship has good shields and good armor on it. I agree with you, some adjustment needs doing.

Re: looking for Recommendations for android phones

I heard that the accessibility shortcut doesn't work when you first get your Motorola phone. That is inexcusable! Still, this could have changed. If so, Motorola Moto phones aren't too bad since they run near stock Android and seem to receive updates more frequently than other phones. Make sure you get an unlocked Android phone. This eliminates the phone carrier from the process of providing software updates.

Re: Starting out with creating a mud

Thanks for your answers!I decided I'm going to try to learn MOO. The programming language itself doesn't seem difficult, I just need to get used to some things. My only problem is that since MOO is old, it's hard to find any info so a lot of it involves either figuring stuff out using the help file, or if you're lucky an article here or there will point something out (the MOO manual is difficult to follow at times). I was wondering: Those of you who have successfully started anything with moo--even if it's the smallest thing, what resources helped you? I'm starting to understand a lot of it, such as how objects work, etc. Still, if anyone can point me to a tutorial or something that has helped you or if you can think of any general tips about coding in MOO, I'd really appreciate it.Thanks again!

I'm sure Orca will remain up to date. Unfortunately Viavoice, or Voxin as it's called on Linux, is absolutely out of the question because the Viavoice binary can't run on Arm architecture. Blindndangerous doesn't know, so how can I navigate the menus? The reason I ask is I just installed the FSPassengers demo, and the only way to access its functions is via menus.Thanks.

Re: I'm going to do my best to advocate to make Star citizen accessible

Yes, publishers do have a major impact on what is published. How does that impact your dialog with developers? Realize that the developers you are talking with typically don't have the authority to do anything they want. Making a game accessible, may involve more than convincing the developers. This is part of the reason why developing good amicable relationships with people at that company can be invaluable. they may feel more comfortable explaining why something might not be accessible--which improves your chance to provide the appropriate information. A developer may be moved to incorporate accessibility for one reason. A publisher may need another reason to convince them. With regards to NDA's, I think there are a few things to be aware of.  The primary purpose of an NDA is to help try to protect information a company thinks gives them an advantage against their competitors. Realize when you are talking with a developer that they likely have signed an NDA-
-so if they are unwilling to share certain information with you, there is a good reason for it. Also, there is always a possibility that you might be asked to sign an NDA. This typically is a good sign. It means they think you can be trusted and they also think that sharing this additional information with you will provide them with something beneficial--likely it means they find your accessibility feedback to be useful.Typically, NDA's end up covering information about future plans or detailed technical aspects of current products. It would be rare to find an NDA that prevents a developer from discussing current features of a game from a player's perspective.I probably should mention something else.  There is a tendency to think companies are soley motivated by money and that is all they think about when they make decisions. Money is definitely a major motivation for companies, but it is important to understand that it isn't the sole factor in how
companies make decisions.  It is typically a very important factor in decisions, but not necessarily the only factor.

Or does every tile on the grid transform into another type? Thanks for the game, it's quite addicting.

Re: MKSpeech: Open source, Low cost notetaker

so mk speech would be sort of like the old braillePlus that ran Linux? where you had a menu, suite of apps, but then if you are more advanced you could run a console with speakup, right? and if you guys use the mate desktop and strip some unneeded stuff out, you could make it real lightweight. Also will it stay up to date with the latest version of orca? if using debian ubuntu mate, it'll need the accessibility PPA added to keep the screen reader updated and if using an arch-base, you could just let it alone because arch has a nice rolling release. also for those who wish, maybe you could contract with oralux and offer IBM viavoice or eloquence for those who want it. pair it with the orbit20 braille display and brltty and you should have a pretty good notetaker that can do a lot of stuff. But orca will probably need modifying to accept 6-key entry, so will the mate desktop I'm guessing. though if you want it as a notetaker and for durability I'd say maybe give it at
least 32gb of ssd solid state storeage. Then it will run nice and fast and will be pretty much immune to drops and such. how much will this cost in the united states? I may want to buy one just to have and play around with it. I like all types of OS they are fun to use and play with. oh and you may want to have espeak set to a good sounding voice and set to talk slow for the most understandability.

Hmm, something for the more code concious peeps: would it help out to try and convert the main game maker project into say bgt, and keep the original objects and maps and sorts wich are xml in their current form? I wouldn't be surprised if that would take a hell of a lot of work, but bgt would tackle screenreader inclusion, would not aquire any penny to be used, can encrypt the sounds and have that a bit more structured etc. Just throwing out my thaughts.

Re: MKSpeech: Open source, Low cost notetaker

Alright Josh, first of all calm down with the multiple posts. No offense dude, but it gets frustrating going through heading after heading. If you wanna write a novel, do it in a post or two, that's no problem. Also, as great as the rca tablet may be especially for 80 bucks, you really should remember that the US and surrounding countries have a huge marketshare for hundreds of phones and tablets. With that come the insanely cheap tablets. Exclusiveness is also a huge problem as well. There's these cheap ripoff mediatech tablets that are sold via prime, yeah that's right, prime exclusive items, and unless you root them, you've got prime ads all over the place like it's windows 10. Cheap as they may be, those are for prime members. The point is that just because you can get something for next to nothing here in the US, that may mean nothing to a developing country where their equivalent of $80 is so much more for them. Besides, as great as Android is, it ca
n't please everyone, and I've come to understand that Android is really an operating system for the technically inclined group of mobile users, and IOS is for the people that want something that just works. Why do I say this? Android may be accessible out of the box, but more apps are required to enrich the experience. By finding out what works and what doesn't, you really know a lot more about your operating system and its accessibility. It really makes you feel like the phone is yours. But Android can't please everyone. I've seen some folks complaining about the Braillenote Touch because the new Android ui is confusing, the world of apps, stuff like that. They do have valid points. I for one love my Touch, but I also have been a longtime Android user. I've seen it grow with damn near every new release, and a lot of these other people are too quick to judge. My point? Most people who use notetakers aren't ready to dive into an open mainstream oper
ating system, with a world of apps, social media, and malware if you're not careful. As much as I didn't like how the older braillenotes had such a tight shell around windows ce, I could see how useful that could be for someone who's a little hesitant on jumping into the technological world. The MK speech notetaker basically does this, i e, a consistent interface for those who rely on it, with the full power of a Linux box for those who want it. Best of both worlds.

Re: Survive the Wild!

Yay, a compliment, that's something you don't see often appear on here @slj: a ban, generally, goes like this. First off, admins expect all players to have read the rules and understand them. When in doubt, players can and should always ask clarification to avoid issues. Once they hit the "yes" button after every update, or the first time they run the game, they indicate they read and agree to be bound by the rules. Now when an admin catches a player spewing insults on the out of character chat, for instance, the admin in question can first ask on the out of character chat to stop. If the friendly request fails, you as player, most likely will receive something like: "Alert! You have been warned by the admin akilor at level 5. Insulting on the out of character chat is not allowed. I therefor ask you to stop at once. Failing to heed [to comply to] ... this warning will result in seven days of jail time." If the insulting still conti
nues, the admin takes it a step further, and puts the offending character in a jail. This jail, still lets you play the game, but no longer by interacting in the roal play. You can eat, drink, build stuff, but all on your own. In jail, there's also no hunting possibility. If jailing a character still doesn't work, and the insults keep coming, you'd get something like: "Alert! You have been warned by the admin akilor at level 5. This is your last chance, either you stop the insults this instant, or you get banned within the next two minutes." And, you guessed right, if things continue happaly insultive, a ban follows. The only exception, where no warning will be given, is when you impersonate Sam, or an admin, but then you know that from reading the rules. When a player is impersonated, either by accident or on purpose, is harder to figure out, so then we usually ask them to delete the impersonating account asap.Hope this clarifies a lot...

@222 I can only speak for myself though, in terms of promoting admins. Yes, it is important you and that person have history, you need to know what they are like and it's not like a background check can show how rude they are. But it's also a matter of judging character. I personally have spoken to these individuals, and I would not have suggested them as administrator material. But that adds to the reasons that Sam should really not be doing this: he has neither enough experience socially or in being in a leadership role to determine who should, quite literally, become the leaders of a community -- and one that you can't just slap cuffs on wrong doers. It doesn't matter how much math or code or computer you know, that's only half the battle. Somehow, I think Sam fails to realize that.

@66:UI did.Basically, if you were in the first person mode you'd hear the defense shouting if it was a run or pass play, and (depending on if you had a decent sound setup mind), you'd hear the footsteps of the defenders near you. It was depending on if you had a great sound system, BUT if you didit worked well.Well...worked as well as a 2004 PS2 era game could, which was amazingly well. There's vids on Youtube about it

@Aaron:Awareness is one thing. Actually getting big publishers to do anything is a whole other matter.Since people do not seem to get how this works.1. Publishers put up X money for a game, say $150 milion2. Publishers give the developer a release date3. Publishers can depending on the contract have a hell of a lot of control, they can demand features removed, cut for DLC or completely and utterly forgotten about.4. Also, point 3.1 really: Publishers have the final say in what goes into a game. 5. Publishers are the ones calling the shots for games. Even self published ones have devs acting as publishers. Also, I'd strongly suggest everyone who wants to go running to a developer and expeccts to talk to them, reads up on non disclosure agreements and what they entail. There's been games where the publisher has said one thing and behind closed doors got features scrapped for various reasonsAlso, @OP:Don't e

They are usually under an NDA, which is a legally binding document that means, IN SIMPLE TERMS, since people seem to think developers can and will share everything...It basically means they cannot talk about things they are not allowed to. Usually development stuff. For mine, I can't actually discuss the specifics of the SMS NDA, but in a broad sense it was 'Do not talk about anything that isn't publically released with press/public/non dev team members'So, even if you get through to a developer, I for one doubt they will be able to tell you anything. Chris Roberts knows what he's doing and (FWIW) NDas are common in the tech sector. Also, given it's a legally binding contract, the penalties for breaking them are severe. Re: I'm going to do my best to advocate to make Star citizen accessible

@Ironcross32: I don't know if you've been following the gdc goings on lately. But, keep that in mind. THere's so much more awareness now. Heck, I did not expect someone from EA to come on here and yet, here we are, sure it's another topic, but that's happening now. Nothing's concrete heck I don't think anything ever will be, but we have to try. Karate's righ. The absolute worse that can happen is a dev turns round and says no. So Karate, keep posting here because now we're with you especially with the gdc stuff lately. But remember this: I believe getting devs to implement stuff will take years still. I don't know what will happen regarding star citizen. But I think if a big dev starts, everyone else will follow. This is a slow, slow process. That ship's wheel needs to start to turn. So we're captaining it on a course. We don't know where that course will lead. We'll probably hit yee ol stormy seas, roadblocks,
you name it, but we have to try. That ship's wheel might be heavy to turn, but we have to start it turning somehow.

Here's an article from Blind Bargains CSun coverage, regarding what's coming up in Talkback 5.2, and future version of Brailleback. New public beta of Talkback  will be available with in April of this year.

Re: Peculiar NVDA/windows 10 issue

@Socheat, it seems as if it happened at random, not sure which of the DLLs deregistered but NVDA could basically not interact with any html content and though I didn't test it, I'm guessing (from reading the NVDA discussion I linked to in post 4) it would've failed on PDFs as well. Either way I'm glad I could sort it out as it gave me a bit of a scare, seeing that my web accessibility was practically broken.

I believe an mp3 or mp4 player device could work well for your needs. If it does not have a built-in storage space, you could use an SD card of 128 GB or so.

Re: looking for Recommendations for android phones

Hi mate, I believe any smartphone from Motorola might do the job for you. They are cheap and offer a clear Android experience, since they often do not have many apps that load and fil up the processor and RAM. Google phones are those who a regular android user would recommend, but they cost more than you are actually willing to pay. The reason why they recommend Google smartphones is because they offer a true Android experience as well as deliver Android updates far more quickly than they deliver in other smartphone brands like Samsung or Sony. Motorola and LG are the second to do this, and that's why I'm recommending them.I have had a Samsung device a year ago or so, but at that time Talkback was a nightmare compared to Voiceover, so I ended up handing it in to my brother after having had used it for a year and a half. There came a time when I felt I could not take advantage of what my smartphone offered, so I bought myself an iPhone 6, which I'm very
happy with.I would say my experience was positive but also negative. It was positive because I was eager to find workarounds for things or apps that didn't work with Talkback, and it was negative because I felt it was not necessary to install third-party apps to gain access to almost everything that didn't work well with Talkback. I didn't think installing a call manager, an e-mail client, a different synthesiser, and a different homescreen from what came with the phone was a true compensation for what I had spent money on, so I decided to give it to my brother.Hope it helps, Cheers!

Re: Downloading file from remote machine to local machine

It depends. If you're running this directly from the run dialog, I have no idea. You could possibly use the search dialog in the start menu to search for it, shouldn't be too hard.In the case of using this from a commandline, it is located in the directory you are currently in (you can see the path with typing pwd).Hope this helps

Downloading file from remote machine to local machine

Hi all,For those of you who are into remote Linux servers, can you help me out with this problem?I'm trying to download a log file from my remote Linode server to my Mac running Sierra.  i'm using the terminal to connect through SSH and using SCP to download the file directly to my Mac.  Here is the syntax:scp [ a-t ]: In my case, this would be:scp luke@myipaddress:/home/tt/tt5/tt5srv.log localfileWhere exactly is the file being copied to?  I'm not specifying a directory in the syntax, and when I enter this command, it returns a message saying it was downloaded 100%.Thanks,Luke

Re: MKSpeech: Open source, Low cost notetaker

Hello,@joshknnd1982 I understand your viewpoint, but In my opinion even if Android is getting well in Accessibility related stuff, I think there are some things we couldn't control (even if they say Talkback is Open source), it needs more hardware resources than almost any Linux distribution, lacks some connectivity in most devices (USB, Ethernet, HDMI ports if needed), and these Linux sistems allows you to modify or write every piece of code that can be improved for adding more accessibility to your environment. As @SLJ said, The device will include a set of accessible applications and these applications will be made based in a Library for handling Graphical interfaces, so it will be easier to extend them or add new applications. I can modify and extend the functionality of the default screen reader (I am working in the development team of Fenrir) and every problem will likely to have a bugfix.@Guitarman now I am totally blind, but I was sighted some years ago. T
he way I learnt how to work with electronics is not a secret, I learnt the basics when I could see circuitry and diagrams, now I have to ask someone to help me with things that I am not able to do by myself. Usually I am able to read a datasheet and tell to this person (a friend of mine) that I want a circuit with a set of features (inputs, outputs, other boards or GPIO pins in a specified order) and when he is done I can play with them.
