Hi all. So, I got the game to work. Lol. I just unplugged  my game controller and it works. Lol. So, Now, I need help on understanding what to do. I am told I an another person need to get out of the current room first thing. So, I press v to see what there is around me, and when pressing enter on the room, it tells me there is nothing of interest there. So, I guess my question is, how might I proceed in the game. this is in Offline mode by the way. Also, I do have a character online. In regards to that mode, what can I do here? I just see that I can walk around in a somewhat big room. I can see other online players there as well. Thanks so much all and sorry for the long post. Take care.

amazing progress update guys, now I'm getting close to the end of episode 3 of tales from the borderlands.I can say, this one is actually playable, but you have to be patience to complete some parts, mainly at rhys'es chapter where scanning is the most part of him.most of the parts I do it myself, but some of them is done with my sighted brother.in episode 3 of the game, there are puzzle that is quite challenging to us, like when you have to shoot down the atlas power system to get the upgrade parts for gortys. in this part of the puzzle, you have to shoot it 3 times, but you have to press another button after doing one shot, you can't just use one button to shoot, or the power system won't go off. besides that, you have to be very careful not to be shot down with the automated turrets or you'll be killed instantly.

I've never tried playing on IOS. This is something I will have to look into. I'm not sure which links are referred to as "explore.php" though. Do you mean the compass arrows, or the map tiles? Because you can navigate both ways, both by the compass and by the map.Congratulations on making level 7 fighter, by the way. If you want some quick experience, head out the west gate of Cajar. You'll land at 75-69. Get to 57-76, enter Eldron Bridge, then go north and west to talk to a woman named Elwyn. She'll ask you to read a few books (which are available in Cajar). Read them, answer her tests, and you'll get all kinds of stuff. Will shoot you up to level 9 or 10, easily.

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

I mean, I didn't get to go exploring, either, but that's more an "American parents think that letting kids out of sight without 4 walls/fence around them for one moment will result in kidnapping" thing, rather than a blindness thing. I'm not sure how more people's lives aren't action movies, if there are would-be predators lurking outside every safezone, waiting to pounce. (Oh, and drugs. Hanging out outside a house or back yard clearly means one is on drugs, and will therefore amount to nothing but crime.)Luckily, I did everything right, and never went out the front door unattended, never answered the phone or door with no one at home, scorned the notion of social activity and dating, and only wound up walking down a street with no adults around once. I'm sure the benefits are apparent if you screw up and talk to strangers, so better silent than lost.

hi,Afrim, you should always check the whole document for spelling, eeven if it is your native language. As  you are likely to still make many mistakes. Hell, I am so glad my professors didn't see the original, unedited versions of my assignments. Additionally, english is not an orthographic language, unlike turkish, so that also increases errors.

Re: PhantasyRPG: Old Browser-Based RPG, New Direction

I do enjoy the game, but there is a problem. I'm playing on IOS,  so I tend to use links above the coordinates to navigate until I know the area. VO reads them as explore PHP? Which is a bit annoying. Can they be renamed to north, south, east and west? That would be awesome. FYI, I am level seven fighter.

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

Hi.Ah yes, I keep forgetting how big the US is.I read about Louis Braille and find his storie very interesting. I'm not much of a Braillle reader but I am very happy it's on some things here in the UK. Oh and braille menus. Although i don't use them, I just ask the person helping me to read the menu to me and go from there.I just found out something very interesting; Henry Fawcett (1833-1884), blinded as a young man, became Postmaster-General in 1880; he introduced the parcel post and the postal order.I read about that here: https://historicengland.org.uk/research … ed-people/I think it's quite interesting how some people raise their kids. I was raised quite nicely however did not go outside much. Oh I visited friends, (I didn't have many,) but was never told to go out and explore. I honestly wish I was as I would have learned alot about the world as a kid through exploring. I was not tought to cook until I went to college. I think I've forgotten most cooking skills from college as it was a long time ago. I am unable to practise due to my grandperrrents having to look after my grandads mum.Sadly my storie is nothing special,, alot of blind people from what I understand are treated like this these days. However when I spoke to a blind man who tought me Braille in school, he'd tell me of adventures he'd have with his friends. Reading about blindness in the UK before I was born is interesting because on the one hand it was quite bad from what I understand but on the other they got to explore alot more than what I think blind people do today. Or perhaps it is better to say they got to explore alot more than I did as a child/tean.

Yep. But people just outright don't believe it's possible. (The people you meet walking 2 blocks...) What people believe is doable determines what they try/fund. The high costs of Jaws and braille do not help matters, since those are what people are most likely to encounter when investigating the efficiency.

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

If someone says that disability is a social construct, odds are they're talking about mental disability, and pretending that physical disabilities don't exist. #naxaltAnd so far as Autism is concerned, I can see the argument. Sure, one could say that sensory overload thresholds being so low as to cause issues living around most people is a disability, along with being bad at reading nonverbal cues or intent, or not being interested in social climbing games (*looks at the above links warily*), but it could also be argued that focusing on popularity contests instead of creating a robot that can email the cure for cancer is something of a disability, also. Regarding the concept of the blind community... I dunno. The US is 3000mi across, contains 300,000,000 people, around 10,000,000 of whom are legally blind or severely visually impaired. Population densities vary wildly from millions of people in Chicago and New York, to towns with fewer than 1000 inhabitants s
 cattered around forests swamps and farmland. And then you have the eternal rivalry between the NFB and ACB, the specialist schools, the conventions, etc. The NFB, at least, seems to promote the idea that blind people need blind role-models, on top of their organizational structure, which feels like a cross between a representative republic and a church. Add the US's obsession with identity politics into the mix, and I guess you could get something curious.(oh, something this reminded me of that harkens back to what Dagonite has been saying: Louis Braille got his ideas for his eponymous writing system from the French military. Because, as it turns out, in a 19th century empire, being able to communicate silently in the dark had military applications. Even pirates wore eyepatches so that they'd always have one eye adjusted to darkness, should they have to fight below deck. Meaning that pirates also had to learn to fight and navigate in a high-stakes situation without d
 epth perception. You are now imagining Pirate Braille.)

problem with importing contacts to Mac and a iMessage fenominon

2017-06-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : simba via Audiogames-reflector

problem with importing contacts to Mac and a iMessage fenominon

Hi.I had recently purchased a 2013 MacBook Air because I wanted to start using Mac OS and because I needed a mobile laptop solution when I am on travels and under way so I don't need to carrie my huge gaming laptop around, so, I thought the light waight MacBook Air would be a good solution and it really is up to this point.Sadly, there is something bugging me and I can't seam to find out what the problem is. Beware that this might be a longer post.I have a problem importing certain contacts into my contacts app on the Mac via iCloud.For better information, on the iPhone I have 4 mail accounts,my iCloud account, my hotmail account which is my primary E-Mail ACC and microsoft account for windows, xBox and so on, and two other Mail addresses which I need for newsletters, spam catchers and so on, it's another outlook and google mail address, please note that the primary account doesnt have the @outlook.com, but the @hotmail.com address.All
 of those account have contacts linked to them, but the most important ones are at the iCloud and hotmail addresses.So, now to the problem. I started setting up my iCloud with logging in and importing things like notes, reminders, mail, calenders, iCloud Drive and so on.I than started my Mail app and entered my hotmail account so I had the @me.com and the @hotmail.com addresses set up. I than tried sending an iMessage to a friend, for better recognisation. let's call him Mike Smith.So, I wrote the message but i got an error saying that the message couldn't be send. Than he send me a message which arived. Strange thing was, that in the conversation list, I had Mike Smith and another number which was his infact but it was showing like a completely different conversation, while on the iPhone, the message came in as Mike smith. I than tried typing a message to the other number, and it worked out fine, I was heavily confused at that time how a number can be wro
 ng, but at the same time be right.Problems started getting bigger after that, I noticed that not all my contacts had synced. Normaly I should have around 160 contacts, but just 82 were in the contacts app, and they also had that phone number thing with the iMessage going on.I than went to the system control panel under internet accounts, chose my hotmail account to sync the contacts, but I just could sync notes and mail, which worked fine as far as I could see.So, my questions are1. How can this iMessage thing be and what can I do to solve it.2. How can I easily import my Hotmail contacts without making a huge mess in my iCloud?3. Is there a way to transfer all contacts over to one account so I don't have that problem in the future?Already thanks in advance, I hope that someone can help me.Greetings Moritz.

Hey daigonite.[[wow]]. I know this is not the way 99 percent of disabled people act and I'm glad about that. Having read that twitter page has kind of shocked me, it shouldn't, as you're going to get idiots in any comunity but attacking one another when people clame to be wanting to help one another, that makes no sense to me.I completely agree that disabled means a lack of, or not having the ability to do the things that other non disabled people are doing. or perhaps another way of putting it would be, we can do most of these things, we just do them in a different way to non disabled people. Oh and yes, I consider myself disabled as I cannot see.I loved reading how disability is a social construct. I could be wrong here but doesn't social mean a lode of people gathering in one place and construct mean a thing that was made? So they are saying that disability, be it blindness deafness,  being in a wheelchair and so on, is
 something that is made? As in we decided to make ourselves blind deaf et cetra et cetra? Correct me if i'm wrong in thinking that is what they think.I am very glad I am not involved in this kind of stuff. And people wonder why I keep myself to myself and do not get involved in the "blind comunity?"This is kind of off topic but did the blind comunity thing start in the US? I've not heard it here in the UK but hear it mentioned on vorale and other US bassed blind sites quite alot. We have places for blind peple to help out other blind people through volunteering and places to buy blind products but i've never herd that we were a comunity of blind people.Do you think that disability is treated diffirently in the UK and the US? i know we have more accessible things, trains and busses come to mind, but i'm not sure if the treatment is the same here as it is in the US.

It's so silly too because accessibility just seems like such a better option, proper accessibility that is. If it's software and it's designed for common hardware, anyone could theoretically download it. Can't do that with surgery. Plus, you gain the workforce of all the people you were going to have to "cull" and make a whole bunch of mothers a lot less depressed. Just saying people!I think the only way to cure all blindness would be to create some sort of robotic eye anyways, since that's really the only way to overcome the probem entirely. And then you've got rehabilitation to work out. Have fun at least now it's obvious which solution is more viable.

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

Daigonite here is my advice for when you get overwhelmed by such things...Close your eyes and rub your temples for a minute.  Lift yourself up from your seat and push in your chair so it is out of the way.  Raise the middle finger on both hands and point them at the computer screen.  You may wish to gesture emphatically to push home the idea that your middle fingers are intended to go Waaay up there.  Now without lowering your arms, or pointing your hands in another direction, dance your heart out.  Puff your chest out, bend, grind, bounce, or whatever really draws attention (and therefore emphasis) to what you are doing.After a few minutes I expect you'll feel better, although a wee bit silly.  Return to a calm standing position, retract your middle fingers, lower your arms, and walk away from the computer.  At this moment you have won, because no force on earth can erase what you have just done in protest of those people who
 upset you.  Sure they have no idea you did it, but you know.  Any sighted neighbors walking past your front window probably know too.  It sounds stupid, but I'd encourage you to try it at least one time, and let us know if it helped.  Make sure you don't take this action lightly though!  It must ONLY be done when your last straw has been broken, and Never before!  If you allow yourself to do these steps for an unworthy reason, it will never work for you again even if you live to be 100 years old.

I think this game is typed as DragonBall FighterZ with no space. This is a 2d, four-button dragonball fighter from the creators of Blazblu and Guilty Gear, with assists and supers. It will definitely be available on the xbox one and ps4, and possibly pc too!Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite gets a new story trailer and some new character announcements, including marvel villain Thanos, and heroes Gamora, Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy. Rocket can also call on the creature known as Groot to help him. There is also  lot of returning characters from ultimate marvel vs capcom 3, such as Nova and Spensor. There is also a playable story demo available for everyone to download on both ps4 and xbox one. The combo system is really quite exxciting in this game.Kille
 r Instinct gets a new character trailer for someone called Eagle, who is an archer-type character who can fire arrows, either as singles or as a flurry of three. His release date is late June, around June 27 or 28.Also, thanks to post 4 for the heads up here. Blade Strangers is another fighting game that's coming for ps4 and pc. It will feature characters from some indie games. I don't have any more info onit at the moment, but thanks @ThePlayer, I will look into it.

Thanks John.  I've posted in a few other places on the forum, but not here in the Swamp topic in a long time.  Everything has been pretty good with me, I've just been kept super busy.  I'd like to say I'll have more free time soon, but that would be a lie.  I have a long list of non-computer projects I still need to get done before I can think about getting back to my programming.  Spring time seems to be the time when my house, and the houses of my friends and family, need repair from falling apart during the long winter months.

Re: The Eye Conditions Topic

I actually have very little idea what the relevant medical terms to my visual history are. The best I know regarding my left eye is "something something retinal detachment". That was from birth. My right eye started scarring for no apparent reason a couple years later (the description I heard was "sympathy syndrome"). A few surgeries and a weekend with an eye-patch later, my vision was stable at "can play Mario, cannot read standard print even with extra thick glasses".Fast forward 9 years, and I was in Las Vegas for an evening mid roadtrip. I tried looking around while outside—it was near sunset and the start of July—and my eye was suddenly very unhappy and looking at the sky was painful. This got worse rather rapidly—the best metrics I have are from games, since that's mostly all I used any detailed vision for—and within a year or so it was more or less useless. Actually, Orco's description of the last stages ssounds an awful lot like my experience. I can't tell if I have any vision left, or if everything that seems kinda like it is just my brain not realizing it's not getting any meaningful information from my eye. So I'm just going with total at this point. I heard a doctor mention Uveitis, after Vegas,  which could have had its impact reduced except that nothing was approved for this at the time other than the aptly named FML, which accomplished a whole lot of nothing at that point.I heard about how back before Eugenics was pushed out of the overton window, there was a push for people with inheritible eye conditions to not have children. While this could theoretically reduce the instances of blindness dramatically, it's incredibly short-sided and absolutist. ... ur, pun not intended. Basically, the point in curing blindness is to reduce suffering and societal costs, and families who have been blind for generations are going to have worked out how to deal with those things better than most. By wiping out blind families, not only are you targeting the least suffering and least costly blind people, but you're destroying repositories of skills and knowledge from which uninherited blind people can benefit. Reducing the total number of blind people in the world is not the same as reducing negative impacts due to blindness. But that's a whole other eqine carcass.Speaking of color and generations of blindness... I was wondering the other day if a civilization composed entirely of blind people would ever discover the moon. Even with the necessary observations and connections being provided, I still got stuck at the concept of color being invented to explain why people can feel the sun but not the moon, since the idea of light would probably be linked to the idea of heat, and the moon being a giant reflector in the sky raises plenty of questions.

It had a rather unsatisfying "ending." If you can call it an ending. The thing is, it just sort of exists hear and there, and as people said, degenerates on both sides really aren't helping. That being said, the occasional reasonable person does appear. It really doesn't help that an anti-SJW Vs. SJW thing had been going long before that and continues after the matter. GG was just sort of the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak, but enough of the off-topic bit. Why on earth is the disabled community in general fighting amongst itself? I thought the idea of the Blind person was supposed to be the difficulty of being horribly judgemental. This is why some stereotypes really should be followed. LOL!!! Oh well. I guess no group gets the luxury

Re: The Eye Conditions Topic

My philosophy on the subject is basically that people all have functions that they can or cannot do, just like any other "engine" would. An engine is anything that is capable of executing abstract functions, such as performing a task. Blindness affects people's ability to perform a task at the same level as sighted people. So, if that function can be achieved through technology instead, blindness is essentially equivalent to vision in that function. Of course, it's never that simple, but an interesting thing to defend my theory - blind people generally out perform sighted people in low vision enviorments. Blind people exist in a unique "mode" than sighted people, and if they lost their vision early enough, their brains are oriented towards using the same "mental capacity" so to speak to process navigation as opposed to vision. This is another reason why losing vision later on in life is so hard.

I played one of the Splinter Cell game series before I lost my vision, and recall that they are challenging for sighted players, so for visually impaired players that can only depend on the sounds they hear, the game would not be at all accessible.

Before I lost my vision, I tried many WYSIWYG web site editors and every one of them put extra unneeded code into the page's HTML making it harder to maintain or to do something unique out side the program. In the end I simply used Ultra IDE which is just Ultra Edit with lots of IDE features added.

Re: The Eye Conditions Topic

I actually stumbled across a 20 year old New Scientist piece they did in 1997 on the future of accessible tech for disabled people, based on how things were in 1997, they got Narrator right and screenreaders, they got talking clocks and watches, though they said humorously that it'd be a talking smartphone on your wrist, which...sorta has happened in a way and talking self driving cars within 10 years. They got most of it right.They also stated that, interestingly even as far back as 1997 with Dolly the sheep, that ethical concerns would prevent cloning human cells to repear nerve damage. Bear in mind this was in 1997, and think how that has turned out.As an aside the article also stated there were certain jobs that would never be accessible to blind or partially sighted people, many o which are commonplace now with better tech, chef was one it highlighted with the precision needed and more bizarrely, massage therapist was put forward as one a blind person bck i
 n 1997 couldn't do.Insanely enough, a blind person in 1997 could appl for an SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) competition license and blindness was not even on the medical testing requirements at that point. Also th e NHRA up until several years ago had a similar idea. I had a friend in Florida that pulled that and got an NHRA drag racing competition license, then did zip on it.Oh and on the subject of that sport, I was listening to a podcast by the fantastically funny Joe Amato  who retired in 2000 due to detatched retinas from the G-forces from that sport and he said he thinks there will come  aday when a fully blind driver wins in that sport, as it's all about listening and feeling, not visual feedback. Or, as he put it:#If I can go 30 down a quarter mile with my retinas being screewed up each run and there's up to 20 runs in a weekend of racing and 30 weekends a year, then I don't see why
  a blind man couldn't do the same thing I did. All you gotta do is go fast and go straight and get out of the car in 10 seconds, and listen to your crew chiefNote: His comment was sarcastic, but still his point is valid: That's a guy who won events and titles while having his retinas detatching and his corneas slowly damaged year on year. In other words: He's a badass. Acutally met him a few years ago when I was in New England and he is a decent guy to talk to and discussed drag racing for a few hours . Fun times. Point is: He said, under the rules circa 2015, when I met him...he'd be disable due to his eye damage if he anted to pursue that but he's got millions of bucks in the bank and a  long career to look back on.

I kind of have this theory that blindness at some point won't be relevant to human communication anymore due to technology, so it might be possible that blindness is never cured, and it may very well be ignored eventually in favor for more scalable technological options.

Hello.So, I'm using a mac book air with Windows, on boot camp. I am also using sharp keys, because I needed to switch alt and windows around. The reason I point this out is because I'm having trouble picking up the bombs in my music. I tried holding alt and pressing right arrow, holding right arrow and pressing alt, and I did the same with the windows key, and it didn't work. Could somebody either send me a save or tell me how to get past this? I would much rather try to pass this on my own, but if I can't get it to work a save would be nice. Thank you in advance.

That twitter cringe came from someone under the #actuallyautistic tag which is a bit of a signal in of itself - yes, autism, the disability notorious for mildly impaired indivudals to abuse to the point where they want an excuse to never have to contribute towards society. Even the thought of comparing them to blind people who have struggled their whole lives to secure employment absolutely sickens me. I find this point particularly hilarious since these activists hate me despite being a gay transsexual who is making games for blind people. How much self awareness do you have to lack.On the subject of it being a cult, I don't think most disability activism has achieved that state, but neurodivergency activism certainly has in certain sects. Can confirm through personal experience. They encourage people to cut ties from neurotypical individuals, including their own parents, and label those who don't agree with them as an enemy. I would say that it's very very cult like.On gamergate, my suspicion is that 30 degenerates on each side kept the flames going for 3 years behind the scenes, and, similar to Centralia PA, they eventually burst from their bubble and are spreading their garbage everywhere for the internet

Re: The Eye Conditions Topic

Sorry for the long message, Well, my case is a little bit different; I may not be able to explain it in English, but anyway. I was born not blind, I had full sight in the beginning of my life. In 1997, when I was nearly one and a half year old, I was part of a terrible accident which caused a really awful injury to my mum, I and my brother and father. There was a very problematic situation that year here in Albania, and everything was messy. Schools, universities, public institutions, including hospitals were at an incredibly terrible state. Our country was nearly at war because of the problems caused by the government and criminal bands which were leading our country at that time. Anyway, my family was part of a really bad accident. My mum and I were shot in distance by mistake by two guys who had targeted another person, and we got badly injured. My mum ended in hospital, nearly dead, with less than 2.5 liters of blood remaining in her body, which is 50% of the whole amoun
 t of blood in a human's body. My condition, however, was nearly the same, even worse; my face was completely devastated and my eyes, particularly the right one had been severely damaged, starting from the nose. The doctors were not sure whether I'd be able to survive or not, since the condition was really serious. After some treatments, and after receiving an amount of blood from my cousin, I managed (thankfully) to survive. The doctors did whatever was possible to improve the conditions of my eyes and they managed to successfully avoid many issues which would accompany me in a long run. Since that time, I've not had any serious problem with my eyes, though I've had occasional visits to my doctor who examined me when I got injured. I went to Russia in 1998, where I visited a professional oculist. "draco it's amusing what you say about being a test case for cryotherapy. At one point I was looking at having a cornial graft, and it was suggested to use cryotherapy at that point. It was deeply unpleasant actually since basically I had a hole conference of student doctors all taking turns to poke me in  eyeball with electrodes while I had other electrodes taped to my head in an effort to see if I had enough optic nurve to make the cornial thing workable. The decision was that it would be too much of a risk for my remaining site, which is why I'd not like to mess with it. My mum did have a laser surgery recently for her glorcoma, which both worked in the sense of reducing pressure, and also failed in the sense of actually reducing her vision, and since I personally dont' have that much vision to start with I don't want to mess with things since I'd hate the idea of losing what I have. @Orco, with colours and my lady it

"Daigonite, there is some interesting things done with human nurve interfaces at the moment, something similar to Jordi laforge from Tng, but whether it will result in anything, or still worse, anything which is actually affordable for most people is another question.

Saying something is like a cult is pretty meaningmeaningless these days. Does it involve forced social isolation and abuse? If not, what's the point of calling it a cult? An inability to identify a victory condition is generally a bad sign. One wonders how many so-called activists just like having something to fight over. True, goals need not be singular and restricted... but the Kickstarter model (with stretch goals and perks and such) is helpful, here.

Oh I agreee with that, but I have been keeping up with the research in Russia about it, but I'm curious and not hopeful, if I was offered a new optic nerve and an eye replacement 20 years from now I'd consider it long and hard.I do think however that certain doctors need to be more cautious in their diagnoses honestly, as I was initially down for a cataract operation...despite never having had cataracts, somehow I got switched with a cataracts operation, which was fixed beforehand thankfully.I do think though that blindness won't ever be cured, I believe it's part of nature's way of a strong species, sort of making sure the srong of a species survive and don't get too old or too weak really.

"Tjt I agree completely, the sad thing is if  Dickins had been checked for conciseness methinks his books wouldn't be half what they were."Afrim, I'm afraid I really don't see the difference here. While you are writing you use the spellcheck flag your errors and lookup words your uncertain of, but you don't use the checking tool after you have finished writing? Quite aside from catching  like extra spaces, this seems a little odd to me. maybe it is a difference in how we right. Myself, I tend to splurge completely, slashing down words in something of a frenzy much as the way I would speak them. Then when I either finish what I am doing or come to a stopping point I go back to the top and read through, and check, then check again, and usually a few more times, making miner edits in sentence structure and sometimes even paragraph order to make my text readable. My  thesis I literally read through line by line close to 100 tim

Only when this process of checking and rechecking is completely over do I run the spellcheck to catch things that my editing with a screen reader misses as any spelling errors I didn't edit out, miss placed spaces, floating punctuation etc. Btw this actually used to create major arguments when I was writing for my degree,  I was always told to [ a-t ] an essay plan or a draught. I however never! wrote draughts or plans, since what I wrote  a much less structured and more organic process where I'd have a clear idea of what I was going! to say just not necessar

Mostly since I speak the local language to a point, I can order what I like in elsh and get the fuck outta there with my food, thanks.Though it's funny you mentioned autism, I see it get thrown around as an insult in my game genre of choice (racing simualtors) where it's used sa an insult. Fortunately I actually like most of the foods they suggested, but just managing the pressure, Really. Is that the best they can do? I can't fault the doctors, nurses, ph arm acy techs, researchers into glaucomamy issue lies with the middle managers and the way my local hospital is run, That, and the fact they cannot, for love nor money, attract a glaucoma specialist. I had my laser diode whatever it's called surgery done by a specialist who went to anotheer NHS trust and does the name Dr Mr Annand ring any bells, as I've run across his name on papers.He was extremely friendly and professional and reassuring, so credit where it's due to him, but when he ame in specifically to do a weekend surgery the nurses there treated himfrom what I

I got up to go to the toilet and I got shouted back to my bed by a nurse in training, it took a doctor who heard me explaining to basically tell the trainee nurse that yes, patients are actually allowed to go to the toilet if they are supervised. Which meant, humorously, II had a doctor outside the bathroom door. I had my brother come in from the States at tha t time to keep watch on me and he asked me, quote; Why do you need to take a piss test, you been on the roids again?(Fun fact: I did, actually, legitimately get given steroid injections. Which made it all the funnier...nurses had no idea what we were laughing about, though admittedly)Okay, Gripe 2 with my nurses, or rather the hospital. My grandmother was a nasty piece of work and made the entire hospital's lives hell, so when I went in, I overheard a ew nurses talking about me behind my back and snidely asking oh hs he related to that horrible old bitch. Exact,
 freaking. Words. I flagged down a senior nurse and told them. Next thing I heard was a lot of arguing and about professionalism.Also, for some insanely funny reason, I managed to befriend the hospital chaplain and debate religion with him. CoE ordained minister debating religious stuff with me, over toast and a cup of tea...and speaking of, I got a running joke in that hospital from the older nurses that I needed a loyalty card that entitled me to a free plate of toast and a cup of hot tea...I was not happy when they ran out of hot tea nd gave me decaffinated tea. Ew.So...yeah, it's sort of off on a tangent but I wanted o add it to the topic.Also, for the colors thing that I noticed, I'm actually asked a lot by my parents what color would go good on this room, what do you think of this carpet and so forth. I'm frogging blind, what do I care? (Acutally, I care a lot since I can picture what a room looks like, and I can make out light/dark/etc), and
  I've always argued that you should open a room up more with colors/painting and suchlike, ya know?

So, I did a Google search on disabling audio ducking on windows for an application, and this is what I found on a Microsoft site.It is C++ code. I do not know C++ very well, so I do not understand exactly what this is doing, and I m not sure if this helps me at all, but perhaps someone can understand this and see if this can help with this problem.I tried to compile it, but I am missing something because it is making a reference to a type HRESULT that I am guessing is not in the standard c++ library.HRESULT DuckingOptOut(bool DuckingOptOutChecked)
{
HRESULT hr = S_OK;

IMMDeviceEnumerator* pDeviceEnumerator NULL;
IMMDevice* pEndpoint = NULL;
IAudioSessionManager2* pSessionManager2 = NULL;
IAudioSessionControl* pSessionControl = NULL;
IAudioSessionControl2* pSessionControl2 = NULL;

// Start with the default endpoint.

hr = CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(MMDeviceEnumerator),
  NULL,
  CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER,
  IID_PPV_ARGS());

if (SUCCEEDED(hr))
{
hr = pDeviceEnumerator>GetDefaultAudioEndpoint(eRender, eConsole, );

pDeviceEnumerator>Release();
pDeviceEnumerator = NULL;
}

// Activate session manager.
if (SUCCEEDED(hr))
{
hr = pEndpoint->Activate(__uuidof(IAudioSessionManager2),
 CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER,
 NULL,
 reinterpret_cast());
pEndpoint->Release();
pEndpoint = NULL;
}
if (SUCCEEDED(hr))
{
hr = pSessionManager2->GetAudioSessionControl(NULL, 0, );

pSessionManager2->Release();
pSessionManager2 = NULL;
}

if (SUCCEEDED(hr))
{
hr = pSessionControl->QueryInterface(
  __uuidof(IAudioSessionControl2),
  (void**));

pSessionControl->Release();
pSessionControl = NULL;
}

// Sync the ducking state with the specified preference.

if (SUCCEEDED(hr))
{
if (DuckingOptOutChecked)
{
hr = pSessionControl2->SetDuckingPreference(TRUE);
}
else
{
hr = pSessionControl2->SetDuckingPreference(FALSE);
}
pSessionControl2->Release();
pSessionControl2 = NULL;
}
return hr;
}Not sure if this helps at all. Hopefully someone has some idea.TJ Breitenfeldt

Re: Research on videogame development for blind users

Hi again,I am developing a small demo to test one part of the user interface. Basically you have a 3D space with some game objects placed in there. No windows, no buttons, no menus; the idea is to keep it simple. Each object makes a different sound. You can navigate the 3D world with your keyboard. You can identify position and type of objects either with sound or with a verbal description.You have to identify objects in space. Examples: how many enemies are in the scene? Is the car close or far away from the enemy?You only need a computer that can handle basic 3D, keyboard and headphones. In principle it will work in Windows / Linux / Mac, 32 / 64 bit.I have to finish the thesis before next week so I will be creating the demo during these days. I will give you a link to download it. If anyone is interested to try it please let me know.Best regards,Alvaro Caceres

@Dark, I don't apply spellchecking  on the whole document, I just check any word that I am not sure it is written in a way or another. That is a little bit different.

Re: The Eye Conditions Topic

I'm not blind but recently was diagnosed with migraine aura without headache which causes visual disturbances and a need to hide out in dark places. It apparently runs in the family and nobody told me. My condition gets so severe that exposure to light through my job causes short term and long term effects, which affect my output greatly. I wish I could turn off my eyes sometimes, lol.

Re: Where is the best place for blind people to learn PHP?

Hi,did you already try to google this on your own?I can recommend the W3Schools pages, since they actively support accessibility, which means that their websites are browseable quite well and the tutorials are good too.just take a look on your ownJust another thing you should think about when designing a webbsite. Do you really need php? if you only want to display some stuff like a download link or want to offer a manual for a game or something like this, you wouldn't want to use more than html or maybe css. PHP is mainly used for dynamical page content and though isn't always needed. But it's never wrong to know how to use it, since website development is one of the basics you can do, since almost everyone has his own website nowadays.

Re: is there an app that can help me build websites?

It's not that easy. A website isn't a thing you could click together via a menu system. You should know this if you already used html. HTML is a tree-like markup language which means that you can insert elements into elements into elements... and so on. Doing this with a single menu is just to simplified to be of greater use. Anyway, just grab your favorite code editor and start coding right away, this will yield better results if you ask me.

Re: marvel vs capcom infinite demo available now

Confirmed. Their are no language options in this demo.Also, the single player story mode is the only thing on the main menu aside from options and something to do with the internet.Options has control setup, something I don't know, sound settings, and two other things I don't know.Cut sceens can be skipped with r1 after pausing them, and r1 after pausing the game is also how you exit the demo as well. just press down then x to exit.Oh, and, none of your changes are saved.Later!

Okay, I need another bit of questioning here - So I encountered... the disability activists.And I'm so sorry that these people are "representing" you. They seem extremely hostile and closed to discourse. They will argue tooth and nail that fighting verbage is on equal footing as actually developing accessible software. But a concerning trend was a spread of the extreme left wing politics. The "social construct" crap.I'm not going to get into a discussion about gender, sex, orientation or color, since I can't comment on those - but disability? Disability is certainly not a "social construct". It's a literal inability to do something. It makes sense that people wouldn't want to integrate a disabled person because to them, they think they can't do anything, which is based on the fact that they can't do certain critical key tasks.My entire philosophy around accessible/sound design is based around the
  idea that disability can be bridged with technology, making the disability moot. Why are people so hostile to this idea?I have a nagging suspicion that these groups have composed their own tightly knit definitions to push their agenda. Would not be surprised if they would be triggered by just reading this thread. It's embarrassing but it seems to be picking up followers so eh? They seem extremelyThe blind guys on twitter seem to get it though, which is great. Also, humorously, the disabled woman (who never discloses her problems for some reason) screeched like a banshee when she noticed the word "utility". So... does she not want to be employed? Kind of inconvenient for her to block me after I told her I want to utilize her and help her find work. I'm sure most of you feel almost completely opposite of this person. What a shame.Also is it just me or is it hilarious every time that an activist says, "IT'S NOT MY JOB TO EDUCAT
 E YOU". Actually, dumbass, it is. you know, comes with the whole activism thing
