@greensatellite, the most tedious thing I do all the time is switching between maps and world. Clicking on the maps clickable is hard because the focus is bouncy there and I often turn auto fight off or go to the portal and whatnot. I found out the M shortcut, but because of the abandon soldiers thing, I cannot deterministically know how many times I have to press M to go from maps to world or world to map. It's very annoying. Are there times where you don't want to abandon your soldiers? Could pressing M always do the same thing? Having a keyboard shortcut is really essential because of the underbalance achievement, there is no way I can be reactive enough to go to maps when my stacks get near 100, because the trimps fight really fast, especially when you one shot ennemies in the world.

With the  heirlooms screen, the important thing to notice is what is clickable. At the top are two slots for equipped mace and shield which will initially show as "blank" if you don't have anything equipped. Under that will be any heirlooms you have. You can initially carry one heirloom, any others will be listed as "temporary" which means they get recycled when you go through a portal. with the heirlooms themselves, each heirloom has its own sscreen where you can see what modifyers it has, and perform actions such as upgrading its existing modifyers, adding new ones, equipping it, setting  as carried etc. The important thing to remember is that you have to click on the "clickable" just above the heirlooms name to enter its status screne, as clicking on its name will rename it. On the status screen you can click each of the heirlooms modifyers such as "efficiency %5" to upgrade it, and then click to upgrade, you'll need to confirm these with the confirmation box just above the summary.There isn't thus far a way to close an individual Heirloom's stats screen. What would be nice here, would be clearer controls for accessing the heirloom's individual stats screen. Eventually buying buttons like the ones for buildings etc would be nice, but at least a way of not confusing rename and clicking to open stats and a way to actually view different heirlooms a bit more efficiently might be helpful. As for me, I'm now trying the balanced challenge, I'm even trying for the underbalanced achievement, though whether I manage that we'll see. I did get to zone 63, but obviously I need more helium, and in particular, more trimps, since when I start missing coordination upgrades, something is definitely wrong, so a bit of helium gathering seems in order.

@Zuckuss,Destroying Walking Bombs is much easier once you realize you can hold down two arrows at once to walk diagonally. The bombs only move up/down/left/right, so you should be able to get a lot of distance from them.The first time I realized this, I went from -20 to +20 in the space of a single game.Good luck!

It actually is pretty acurate. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I had occasions, where it lead me directly to the door of the building, that I needed. On other occasions, it just brought me close to my destination. I guess, it depends on your GPS acuracy. You can however, add favorites. That should help you a bit. There is not really a guarantee, that it will always be onehundred percent reliable. But, I guess, that goes for every navigation software, out there.You could also try, creating a US Apple-ID, and get Microsoft Soundscape. That seems to be more acurate, as far as I have heard.

@6Like they said in the announcement, these changes are partly for security and stability. Right now addons have different kinds of version code that might not be compatible and cause stability issues, and auto-loading scripts and addons in the configuration directory is a glaring security vulnerability. With these changes people can't inject malicious addon code to be auto-loaded by NVDA, users have to manually enable addons which helps mitigate risk. The versioning is also important to keep track of bug and exploit fixes, or whether an older addon has been patched to remove a potential exploit.A lot of these add some necessary framework and process changes that could make NVDA more suitable in security concious organizations, corporate, and government agencies, not to mention provide a smoother user experience overall. Its the kind of little stuff that Jaws has paid attention to when pitching themselves to such agencies, so this should help NVDA compete on more even footing with them. I'd expect them to start enforcing those standards and breaking compatibility with non-compliant addons in the next few updates, so this is more of a heads up to developers to get in line, and to users for what to expect.

Technically it does, but their interaction with KeySoft is extremely limited, the most KeySoft will let them do is display a message box. If the app you want to run can have files passed to it, you could do something basic like play audio, but the app cannot do much else. There are possibilities, though, I once added support for .sap files to the media player, though I couldn't open them directly and had to execute the KeySoft media player and pass the file I wanted to play to it through the command line.

What kinds of issues were you having? I've been running audio game servers in Linux and it works great! The server is cheap and easy to maintain. Why pay for a Windows Server that includes their ridiculous licensing fees?

I think that with 3d racers it is very possible to drive the wrong way on a track, like going south when the rest of the traffic is going north. Firstly, such a game could implement an auto correct feature that prevents you from going more than 90 degrees off course so you don't get turned around. Short of this, we could be given a pit crew to inform us of upcoming turns or when we're going the wrong way.

There is a board in there called something like "game guide" and there are threads to explain all the different facets of the game.Also, they are completely redesigning the game, and they are going to make the new version accessible. It does work with the latest nvda.In fact I used it just today...And yes we can access the cash offline.Just make sure you're running latest JGT.You should uninstall the old version before installing the new one.And, just before anyone asks, no we can't update the cash ourselves, Ian has to do that when he makes a new version...Speaking of;Starting with NVDA 2019.2, all addons will need to have a minimum NVDA version encoded into them or they won't be loaded, so Ian will need to update JGT in the next few months, and maybe every month or so after that depending on how this crazy new feature works.Check the NVDA website for details on how this all works.Hope that helps you out.Later!

If Nintendo updated Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, they could make it more accessible.Using the two JoyCons' HD rumble features, you could feel where the walls were, coupled with auditory curve announcements and obstacle and coin and item box cues. Being able to drift around corners and snipe other racers with Green shells would be ⠁⠺⠑⠐⠎⠲Or heck, maybe Team Sonic Racing, if that works too. I'm not exactly sure how their racing would work, but I know that they could use some sort of rumble + audio setup that would help show where things are on the track and where to ⠞⠥⠗⠝⠲

@13 it's only MK11, not alot of companies. I haven't heard of any others at least.I don't know if this was the case with MK11 but there's a common misconception that voiced is superior to synthesised, as for people who can see that's true. People who can see can sometimes find it quite a leap to think of audio in terms of being an efficient navigational tool.

@5 the EA sports games do not make use of it. Crackdown 3 does for its menus, the the gameplay isn't accessible.It's worth bearing in mind that games usually take much longer than 1.5 years to make, and that it takes a while to move beyond existing systems.

Hello everyone,I hope everyone is doing fine. It’s been a very long time since I’ve posted here, but here I am again.So, I have won a scholarship  to study in Germany for a semester. Everything is totally different from my home country because the support for blind citizens is absolutely amazing here. The international office of the university has ensured a special grant for me and they have organised some sessions with a mobility trainer. I’m really enthusiastic as I can finally feel some signs of independence. I can walk with the cane, I can finally meet my friends at a preferred destination and not tell them to come and pick me up at my dormitory.However, I do not know the place very well, so I need something to tell me where exactly is this place and where is that place. For instance, the university consists of 8 buildings named with a letter, like Building E, Building R, building N. I am thinking of purchasing Blind Square, but I am not sure how accurate it is. Some people say that it is not such accurate because the real place you want to go is at least 10 meters away from you, so you will miss the place and Blind Square will not turn out to be helpful. I’m not really sure whether this is true or not true; hense why I’m writing here. Could anyone tell me if Blind Square is really reliable or should I find another way to get to know the place? Blind Square seems really promising for this based on the description.Every answer is highly appreciated.Cheers!

Hello,There are two options I would recommend.First is Q-Read, but you need to pay for that something like 30 dollars.Next is a program called Biblos Word Processor. It is totally free and can open a range of file formats. It takes some 20 seconds to open a PDF file, but it's quite reasonable, I think. Be careful with this one, though, the person who developed it is Italian, so the translation to English is not the best.Hope this helps.Cheers!

The Python 3 upgrade, Python 2, the current version in use by NVDA, will lose support on January 1, 2020, a speech refactor that would allow things like sounds in place of elements on web pages, and possibly other changes. Most addons on the official NVDA addons site are compatible, though, and you could always stick with an old NVDA version...

It is whether or not something is actively -destructive. Simter wasn't just talking about how he hates a particular part of skype 7, or how he loves skype 8. He was attempting to essentially start another argument/another dumpster fire. Given that he was part of the previous attempt, given his prior stance on the matter, and given that this conversation was not sparked in good faith, I stopped it. And given that Simter has done this before and generally seems to like to stir stuff up, I thought it was time to step in and say/do something.Had someone done it differently, I'd maybe have let it go. Had Simter have done it differently himself, same deal. But just go reread exactly what was said by him in particular, and look at the annoyance it generated from folks other than me. That, in fact, was the straw.

Yes, you can do that and NVDA won't bother you if the change is implemented in the future. However these versioning requirements are probably going to be in preparation for things that will actually break addons, and that adding a line to a manifest file won't fix. Note that I'm not disagreeing with the change at all, it's necessary in the longrun, but it highlights the fragmentation in the NVDA addon scene, and how there are many ancient addons that will probably never be updated, even some addons created by NVAccess itself are going to be affected by this, such as NV Speech Player/Speech Player in ESpeak, or the PC keyboard Braille Input addon.

If you hire a shitty quality knight/soldier, or too many sellswords, than there should be a chance that your knights/soldiers will get upset with it and maybe some will defect or you'll lose popularity or something. Maybe this would only happen after a trend of bad decisions though...If you give significantly more gold than what was asked for by a citizen then you should also get a significantly higher chance of earning popularity.When staff ask to get a raise, you should be able to barter (with some risk) for half the amount they are asking for, or maybe pay even more and get some popularity, or at least a decreased chance of them asking again any time soon. Though maybe some would take advantage and be more likely to ask you after that...I think more obvious issues should happen sometimes when killing the hag.A callback would be nice from someone you helped out, for instance the guy that needs new livestock, where he gets rich and gives you some stuff as thanks a few years later.I think there should be a bunch of silly random gifts for celebrations and a way to reject or accept them that can effect popularity rather than just gold, since you get gold at the end of the turn anyway.Rejecting the bandit's offer to forgive outlaws too many times should result in a possible bandit uprising that destroys your prison, loses you gold and some peasants/soldiers, and maybe forms a new pest group.Throwing game masters or musicians in prison or executing them too much should cause them to boycott you, maybe even in the taverns and guild.Some powerful mages from the mage guild would be cool visitors, maybe offering some special perks for a high price or threatening you or forcing tribute.Other kingdoms bigger than you trying to force tribute/vassalization would be nice too, so that they aren't all just at war with you by default.Arena grand champions should be able to make annoying demands the better their living quarters and wins are.Champions running forts should be able to come to you with various problems like lazy/routy troops, not enough supplies, requests for assistance against saboteurs and gorilla attacks, wishing to leave their position because of various reasons like boredom/being over worked, or depending on the fort's location, sand flees, scorpions, the extreme cold/heat, fear of demons, bandit archers, ghosts or a bad ancient feeling from nearby ruins ETC.I think your knightly order should visit you with various stuff they've found, insidiace plots they've uncovered, adventurer groups they've captured trying to attack/steel from you, a corrupt noble fucking up their particular land or abusing their people in some way, slaying a monster ETC.A champion's internal revolt in the courtroom as a result of low popularity complete with guards dieing and shit would be interesting.Various different people coming in to lobby to change laws like gambling, land tax, banking ETC, both noble and commoner.Wedding nobles asking for your blessing, including ones where one side is coerced for power or seems abused, with the public hanging on the outcome.Courtiers in general asking you for support for various crap and if you choose wrong then problems happen with knight's, champions, popularity do to rumours/blackmail they spread about you, maybe a staff member quitting, a loss of gold or new rebel group with some soldiers of yours, any powerplay like that you can think up basically...A land refusing to pay tax or declaring independants for various reasons including a popular commoner revolt, a corrupt noble ETC, which if put down badly will cause popularity/peasant problems.That's all I can think of for now.

I’ve been playing around and have a few observations and comments.The spiderwebs seem to be taking less treasure. I thought I remembered them taking 50%. But now it seems more like a percentage between 25 and 35I’m not complaining, just seeking clarity.I have certainly noticed a lot about how fleeing changes the game dynamics.Fleeing currently increases the difficulty of thief mode considerably. With the other characters it wasn’t as big a difference, but when finishing the theif in the older version, I upped my speed a lot and ran like hell from a few things. Rules for fleeing should apply to monsters, i.e. they should not be able to dodge your attack, but their defensive score should be subtracted from the damage dealt.You should also gain the benefit of your defensive score, and that should be increased by 2 if carrying a buckler, i.e. you should suffer damage as though taking a hit, with no chance to dodge. If you wanted to eliminate the fleing. Which is pretty fair, I’ve seen it in a lot of games, but not having the defensive bonus either is a real double whammy.I do like the option to sacrifice treasure on the path to avoid an encounter. I was thinking maybe you could do something similar for when in dungeons. I understand why it is currently not there, and I don’t think you should be allowed to evade a monster, and still collect the treasure at the end of the dungeon. Perhaps you could have the leave dungeon option. So, if you encounter something you cannot kill, rather than engaging it and having to flee, you could click the leave dungeon button. You could even put in some script that would be truly hilarious:“As you sit catching your breath, you encounter a fellow traveler. You say ‘There’s supposed to be a knuckle duster in there, but I couldn’t find it. All I found were monsters and traps. You’re welcome to it.”However, if you do engage the monster and then flee, you could progress through the dungeon. I think this makes a lot of sense, because the first option would be like turning around and running for your life; whereas, engaging the monster and then fleeing would be like running past the monster, giving it the chance to strike and giving up the dungeon treasure would be like sacrificing treasure while on the path. It still makes fleeing a pretty costly endeavor, but it might bring some balance into the game.Also, if you lose initiative on the first round, i.e. you are attacked, then you should get 2 exp no matter if you kill in the first attack or not. For instance, currently if you win initiative and attack, then are attacked and kill the monster in the second hit you would get 2 exp and only be attacked once.Whereas, if you lose initiative and are attacked once, you will only get 1 exp for the fight. It just doesn’t seem fair.You should be able to cast attack spells in the snake tunnels. Using a couple of lightning spells here would sure be  a good way to deal with those pesky things. Lastly, the road is long and lonely without the gnome. The theif has the hardest job of all. Some company would sure be nice, and I don’t think it would make theif too easy. Truth to tell, the gnome is of fairly little value. I almost always take what he reveals anyway.

Link to the official NVDA update news [here]. Seems they're tightening security and stability by enforcing stricter version control. Wonder if that has any association with python 2 or python 3 support in the backend. From the post:NVDA will no longer automatically load custom appModules, globalPlugins and braille and synth drivers from the NVDA user configuration directory. This code should be instead packaged as an add-on with correct version information, ensuring that incompatible code is not run with current versions of NVDA. For developers who need to test code as it is being developed, enable NVDA’s developer scratchpad directory in the Advanced category of NVDA settings, and place your code in the ‘scratchpad’ directory found in the NVDA user configuration directory when this option is enabled.Also, add-ons can now specify a minimum required NVDA version, and the last tested NVDA version, in their manifest. If this version of NVDA is outside of the specified range, NVDA will refuse to install or enable that particular add-on. This version of NVDA will however still allow installing and loading of add-ons that do not yet contain Minimum and Last Tested NVDA version information at all, but upgrading to future versions of NVDA (E.g. 2019.2) may automatically cause these older add-ons to be disabled.
