Re: Breed Memorial - New monster breeder simulation game by Morokuma

Righto.mildspoilersahoySo, I did it. I got my Ciara to five years of age. Stats in the mid-550 range. Great.I went and did the silver cup, got a shiny herb out of it. Shiny herb reverses aging, apparently, but here's the kicker. It's not as good as golden herb, and you can find multiples of those. Also, when I used the herb, my Ciara went from old age to...old age. Maybe it undid some of that time, but if it did, it's not much. I feel like, for a competition this involved (it's hard to get a monster to five years without really babying it), it should maybe be the other way round. i.e., shiny herbs can be found via search, and golden herbs can only be won in competitions. I'd also consider making golden herb (or whichever one you want to be better) a little better than it is right now. Make it worth our while to actually use the bloody thing.I feel a little bit like I just wasted almost two hours...except for one thing. Ciara is an absolute beast! Moon Force is awesome, even if Evil Ball really sucks. The combination of Feint, Throw Kiss, Ray and Moon Force got me to SS rank in the colosseum at around 500 stats or so; I lost one fight, as I recall, but not by much. If I ever get a higher-stat Ciara (maybe by breeding it with my bear?), I'm going to have serious fun with this thing.Anyone know what sort of moves this wheel thing has? I went searching in the ruins and never did find its item, but now I have more bear claws than I frankly know what to do with. lol

No. You just need to have the Blastbay Gaming Tool Kit Engine. You can check on Blastbay Studios website to see if is still there. But the engine is not in development anymore. As for the URL going to facebook, unfortunately, I was not able to get a better URL to SoundCloud. So I'm sorry about that. Glad you got it to work for you. Re: Cython, really secure?

2019-07-02 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : Sam_Tupy via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Cython, really secure?

Right, just a couple things. Protecting code was a huge reason I avoided python for years, what's the point when you can just quick run uncompyle6 on your code. It fell mostly on me, with some help, to figure out a way to protect NVG. These are my findings. So first, the python bytecode has nothing to do with cython, so you do not need to modify python when working with cython. It will not add any protection, and will make it so other C extensions will likely fail to load. I can't think of much you'd modify, maybe some function names or something like that, but it's pointless and will result in so much complications it's not even worth it, especially because someone could just copy your modded python DLL and import your module anyway. Scrambling opcodes is a way to protect code, but it can be broken if you are smart about it so I wouldn't. So if you want to use the python compiler and use .pyc files like pyinstaller does by default, by all means download python, scramble your opcodes and rebuild it, it'll work and will stop most people who don't know what they are doing from running uncompyle6, but if 1 person with the right knowledge comes around they will destroy your opcode scrambling protection in about 20 minutes. As far as I've learned, the correct thing to do is indeed use cython. If you cythonize code, it turns it into native C, then compiles it to machine instructions. This means that you can run something like ida on it and get assembly instructions, but because a lot of the gruntwork is handled by python, it will be very difficult to understand. Needless to say you won't have to worry about someone getting assembly instructions, modifying it and releasing there own game. I won't say it's impossible because saying that anything is impossible is just having a closed mindset, I'm sure there is someone out there who could somehow break stuff, and there is certainly hex editing that could be done to the already compiled package or other disassembly/modification methods, but cython is the very best protection I think you can possibly get. But I haven't really answered your question yet have I. You want to know if cython is a secure option because you can import modules compiled with it. The answer is that if you use purely cython? No it's not, anyone can import your module and call it's functions, but will not ever be able to attain runnable python source code from just having the pyd file, at least as far as I know. I mean it's turned into C then compiled into assembly instructions, so the original code doesn't exist in the pyd in any form, just the logic, which because of cython is really really hard to determine from assembly instructions. Basically what I'm saying is that to the best of my knowledge, the technology doesn't currently exist at this time to turn pyd files into runnable code, and likely won't for a very long time and if it does it will probably be using technology beyond what I can imagine lol. So anyway, no cython alone will not stop someone from importing your modules. However, cython + a bit of creativity can lead to the best code protection system you could ever hope to have. Remember, all code in your file being imported executes. This means that with a bit of creativity, you can cause the import to fail spectacularly if something doesn't meet your conditions. For example. Imagine you create a variable called token. By default it's set to 0. In all your important functions, you check to see if the token is equal to 927184. If it's not, you cause some sort of fatle crash that causes the app to stop working. There are many ways to do this, you can import wx, create a wx.app object, then destroy it and call one of it's functions, for example, and it'll cause py to die. I'll let you figure out that on your own. Or if you don't want a crash you can show an error message and exit, or even just make the function return. Don't make a function for token verification, recopy the code for each function so it can't be monkeypatched. Now if someone imports your module and tries to misuse it, they can't because the token isn't set to 927184. So unless they know that number to set it to, they can't do anything but dir and get a list of vars or something. In your game, when you import it, just set that token and your module will work fine. Maybe you can create a variable in the sys module before importing your module. At the top of that module, just have the line sys.varname. If it doesn't exist, it'll traceback and the import will fail. I have other ideas but some of them I'm using so I don't want to tell you them, but the idea is just find a way to be creative. For example you are making a game that is going to be compiled into an executable. You know exactly what you need. You think you'll need the dir function? Probably not. So in your protected modules, just monkeypatch the dir function to your own that returns an empty list. Why not, you won't need it.

The contents of this twitter will be strictly podcast related - the only off-topic tweets would be replies to people asking questions mentioning the account. So should you decide to follow it, it will *strictly* contain answers to questions should there be any, but mainly podcast announcements, opportunities for you to leave feedback, stream reminders, that sort of thing. So, follow [a-t] stevenDPodcast.I'm also planning to set up a system where I can distribute email notifications when I'm getting ready to stream, and I'll update this thread when that happens. Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

Well it is good to here from you aprone, you have been missed! while we are throwing ideas and changes I would like to bring up forts. The idea of owning forts and defending them is great until you actually have to do it especially the way things are now. For one when you lowered the food to attack to allow lower players to be able to attack i don't think it was for seen that people would exploit this by making side chars specifically for that purpose. As forts are now it is pointless to fortify them since all one has to do to bring it down is have a bunch of side chars all go in there and take off the armor and just sit there until somebody comes back online. You don't even have to fight any more to bring down a fort. We can thank buzz and rocky's clan for exploiting this for us . raiders could take care of these chars but currently they don't work the way they should. So currently the attacking clan will win every time as it is now no matter what the defending clan does. If you look at the forts right now we have a bunch of them empty cause a peace deal didn't work since all it takes is for somebody to be friends to some body else that a clan don't like to get attacked and of course its impossible to defend a fort. well hopefully this could be looked at for the future.

Do not worry. You are not spoiling the game, or making it easier. If that were true, players would not die on the maps and in the warehouses. during missions. So this change, if implemented, will not make the game easier, but more fun.My email is fabiano.sb1...@gmail.com

Hi there,@5: yes, that's true, but you can do pretty nice job with obfuscating your code. ConfuserEx had been undefeated for a long time in this and although there are deobfuscators now, its modularity and flexibility is so high, that if you really want, you can make your unique obfuscator from it just by few lines of code and secure your apps. Especially in large applications, this can make decompiling comparable hard to debugging them.Python has obfuscators too, although I don't know how well they work or not.And both languages are able to call native libraries, so if there are some really critical features, you can try to hide them in a dll.Of course nothing will stop a determined attacker, so your strongest weapon will be still the licence of game, which forbid reverseengineering. I just wanted to point out, that decompilability  is not that hard issue as it might look like.Best regardsRastislav

Re: Input for Blind Users

2019-07-02 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : Rastislav Kiss via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Input for Blind Users

@Daigonite: well, it depends on what kind of input do you mean. if we're talking about a user interface, i.e. a window with edit fields, checkboxes, buttons, there is one major difference. And that difference is, that for sighted people, you usually make things to be easily accessible by mouse, while for blind people they need to be accessible from keyboard. Sighted people use the mouse 90% of time, and just sometimes use keyboard, when they need to write something. Blind people use keyboard 100% of time, and does not use mouse at all. Only in special cases, when there's no other choice, like if some button can be activated only by mouse. But if they can avoid it, they will do so.So if you have such an interface, first thing to check its accessibility will be if you can access all elements from keyboard only, for example by pressing tabulator, and how practical is it for you. Next step would be to use actual screenreader, because you don't need only option to get to target element on the screen, but also a mechanism, which annouces whichone is currently focused. Without it, the Blind person doesn't have a chance to get oriented in the interface.Of course, situation is then bit different during actual gameplay, if you're developing a fps, but that is not this case I guess.Best regardsRastislav

Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

oh I agree that you shouldn't be able to run around with just a shield and do everything, but not being able to really use your melee weapons effectively is just a drastic nerf. That's why I am pushing for  a modest increase in the number of swings you can make before you run out of stamina; I think the system is probably good apart from that. I think that each time your shield blocks you should lose some stamina too and it should recover fairly quickly. THis would let you easily block 1 or 2 zombies attacking you with a shield but if you were mobbed by like a half dozen, then your stamina wouldn't be able to recover fast enough and your block would soon fail against all of the concentrated attacks, so you'd want to get out of there. I just want to be able to threaten zombies with my melee weapons. Right now I have to walk up to them, and then start attacking when I hear my character get hurt, which just sucks. Sighted players don't have this issue because they can see exactly when their character is in range and then attack first. I know because I know of someone who was able to run a mission without a shield by just luring the zombies to chase after him, and staying just barely out of their range to complete his mission. That was of course efore deathbringer zombies were added, but it's just to illustrate that they had an advantage because they could actually see the range of the zombies. That's a drastic case, but now, he also has that advantage when loot  hunting on the main maps. I do believe your melee weapons do have a slight range advantage, maybe of 1 tile, allowing you to attack first, and now because of this stamina change, that advantage might as well not be there.

Well the melee weapons were being so overused, that a good number of players used them without ever firing a single bullet day after day.  The AI for the zombies do depend heavily on sound to track players, so having a group who can go around never making noise sort of defeats some of the point of the game.  It should always be an option to be stealthy, or an option to kill everything that comes near you, but I never intended for people to be able to do both at the same time.  The shield was overpowered all on it's own, and I knew I had to finally step in and change something when I started looking at all the players who would just casually walk through whole swarms of zombies and just ignore them.  Players were telling me that they were so used to just ignoring zombies altogether, that they kept zombie sounds muted.  They were no longer playing a zombie survival game, they were playing "walking around to pick up flies simulator 2000".  Haha!I believed that once players got used to the melee and shield changes, they'd find new favorite ways to play that didn't involve getting around playing the game.  It's not uncommon for me to make changes or design choices that would work on me, but turn out to be very unpopular, so this is probably one of those times.  I'm going to put up some sort of a message or vote on the server, and I'll begin brainstorming some sort of compromised design that will make players happy again.  I don't like the idea of letting players ignore zombie attacks, and then rack up endless kills without ever needing to use any ammo, but if that's what people consider fun then I am open to making some changes.Nikos, I still need to come up with something to use them on.

You can only use Move for it, and it hits hard. You'll also have to fight Shirimisu again (the woman who you took out in the ruins). And depending on the version of the game you're playing, she can either be really simple or near impossible. If you're playing 2.21, she's pretty easy. If you're playing the test version of 2.21 (ware your proficiency levels are going up) then she hits much more often and man does she hit hard in that fight.

Admittedly, I've never once had this problem. I am wondering if your antivirus of choice is flagging the program, or some files it generates, as dangerous? As for me, I managed to get my lovely Teddy bear up to s4 in all areas. Thanks to translation, I now know that I'm going to have to get a monster to age five (freaking five!) before I can see Shiny Herb, which is a bit of a kick in the teeth. But hey, at least now I know the weird conditions, and here's hoping the herb is worth it for all this hassle, especially given that it appears as if all the different ways you can earn the herb happen at roughly the same time. My Ciara is about two and a half, and has entered peak period; all I've been doing with her is train and rest, so maybe she'll last a little bit. Or maybe I'll get lucky, visit the jungle and find some golden herbs.

yeah I legit don't know how people are even playing swamp anymore now that we can't use melee weapons reliably to take on a bunch of zombies. Sub2 is pretty much flat out impossible once you get to the east side of the bridge where the swarms usually are because you will just be destroyed if you try and shoot them, and your meleee weapons now lag. So yeah, I was goign to play swamp this month but I guess not now because there's no point. It's not fun anymore. Games are supposed to be fun.

Re: scanning a book

Brandon, one of Kurzweil 1000's underlying ocr engines is actually the ABBYY Fine Reader engine. So whether you get k1000 or Fine Reader Pro you get more or less the same performance, just different underlying software (and k1000 is more expensive, but it's more than just OCR and also gets you a crap ton of voices. As for KNFB's performance being possibly downplayed? Somehow I doubt that is intentional since there's quite obviously no full-blown K1000 equivalent for mobile, though it obviously depends on the camera's performance as well (a scanner will almost always do a better job than a camera. I personally use a Canoscan Lide300. While the KNFB Reader for Windows 10 can use scanners, it still does not have any knowledge of tables/columns within documents, so you're on your own there. This is the primary reason why my VR agency decided on a K1000 purchase for me, since even if they could get the KNFB Reader app, they'd rather I have something that actually gets the job done well vs just getting it done.

Re: Programming language for online games and Android

I really don't get the statement that python servers often crash a lot. It honestly makes no logical sense. Purposely ignoring #2 since glitches don't come out of thin air summoned by evil spirits. Python isn't the cause for glitches, you just might be the cause for glitches.Behind all good network communication is the standard sockets API. Doesn't matter what language. Assuming your game is stable, yes this includes socket I/O and exceptions/error handling so everything doesn't blow up when encountering uncaught exceptions... You should be golden.I've worked on game servers (unreleased at the moment) that boasted weeks worth of uptime even after stress tests. It's all about the code you write.Anyway to answer #1. Since the idea of network communication is really the same across all decent languages thanks to sockets, work with whatever you like. If you want your server in python, no problem. You can then implement clientside features in java, c#, c++, etc etc.

Re: Warsim, text based randomly generated stratogy

Wastelander, a few more ideas, first, some ideas for new undead races, and then some others.1. claws: these are basically animated severed hands. Their tiers could either be hand, glove, gauntlet or something like Hand, Claw, Giant fist. Basically think "thing" from the Adams Family. There could also bee feet and heads. And for an idea of horribly warped undead, you could have "Wretched" "mangled" "eviscerated" or some other word to describe really mangled undead creatures. Some other concepts in terms of prefixes (since they come before the race proper, I consider them prefixes here.)Elitist: has high proportion of upper-tier units.Working: has nothing but very large numbers of tier one units, with either no upper tier or very few.Egalitarian: all the units in the group are exactly the same (as in one could have nothing but tier 2 units)Enthralling: adds tier one units to their ranks when they kill your peasants or tier ones of other ranks.enslaving: same as enthralling.hypnotic: same as previous 2.youthful: Race is all children.snobbish: gets bonus to relationship if you have several tier 3 units (above a certain threshold or hard number)iconoclast: friendly if you have a lot of peasants compared to other units, hostile if you have too many tier 3s.diplomatic: provides passive relationship growth between you and all other kingdoms as long as they are active, perhaps lowers all relationships if they are unfriendly over time. If alliances get put in, they can  do the same among other groups.A few human independent "races" I know you think that was a mistake but I think when I find the nations of wizards and such, that that is really cool.1. Fireminds (and other elemental minds as well)55. mentalists56. Cossacks57. sailors58 mariners59. explorers60. gravediggers61. organ collectors62. academics63. scholar64. sages65. gurus66. fanatics67. enthusiasts68. church-militants69. half-(element) (humans with elemental blood of some kind that can be multiple races)70. visionaries.71. Diviners72. White magicians73. pilgrims74. outcasts75. beggars76. pariahs77. exiles78.  mamluhks.79. pirates80.  buccaneersthose are all the new types of humans I can think of, if they don't work out as races, you could create more mercenaries wieth them at the very least.and a couple more prefixes I came up with while putting that list together.1. lonely: the race tries desperately to form good relations with at least one neighbor, you can vassalize them and ally with them very easily with very low scores, they also demand little or nothing to make peace, and might even give you thank you presents for doing those things rather than requiring anything of you.2. Loathesome: These races are punching bags for other factions and tend to traw hate from computer opponents. You also gain popularity and bonuses for attacking them.

I've downloaded the book just this morning on the bard web site, and I love how you can make your own worlds or tweak ones that you purchase off the shelf to play campaigns in, and I've even tried one of these online dungeons and dragons games in one of those virtual voice chat rooms, and personally, the thing that takes away from the fun for me is having to add up all the numbers and all the math that goes with this. Math was my worst subject in school which is why I can't code. I'll probably still give the book more of a read though until it gets too numbery for my liking and then I'll probably just take it off of my thumb drive. Other than the math stuff I've always loved the idea of a game like dungeons and dragons but I'd rather play muds or mainstream video and computer games more.

Re: Mata's BK2 walkthrough

I'm running version 1.32, and the update checker says that's the latest version, unless their's another one floating around out there somewhere.I even redownloaded the game from Yukio's site, and it's still 1.32.I did restart the stage/game, and the problem is still their. Some of the weapons like the softpoint machine gun don't show up in my weapons list at all, but only when fighting the sirch and destruction robot version 2.0++.Of all things, the hiper yoyo comes through for me in the first two phases of that stage, but the damb robot isn't hert by it at all.Regarding the laiser cutter combo...1. I have no idea what the laiser cutter is supposed to do.I'm guessing it's supposed to cut enemies in its range, but I can't seem to nail down exactly what that range is.Sometimes I can kill enemies far away and sometimes close up, but it doesn't seem to operate in a consistent manner for me.Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the intent of the weapon?2. The body drop appears to propel you across the stage, damaging all enemies in its path, but I can't understand how I'm supposed to combine it with the laiser cutter, as it does take some time to switch between weapons.Again, neither of these weapons provide any directions on how they're supposed to operate, so of course I'm just a little stuck.I tried the boss fight again and the stupid timer got me, right in the middle of healing of all things. That damb light crystal takes nearly eight seconds everytime I use it.I feel like if I could just nail down some kind of battleplan this game would finally be finished.Update! Yukio has problems finishing this boss, according to a Japanese walkthrough he did...So, now I don't feel so bad...Later!

Re: Tiflo space, a social network and a gaming client

Hi. Since the last time, there's been quite a few updates in the new client beta. Here is the unofficial changelog. As always, the download links in the first post still apply. If you already have the client, it will automatically update when you launch it.0.0.0.80Authorisation: It is now only possible to log in using the new social.tiflo.space siteGeneral: You can now view notifications inside the clientGeneral: You can now add friendsGames: You can now turn on spectator mode. When you are in a table, if you join, it is on by default. Press shift plus enter to declare you are ready to play, or do it from the context menu on Android. If you create a table yourself, it is off. To turn on, at least one person must join so he can take the table master.Games: Now possible to play with toys by the rules mentioned already.General: You can get 1000 toys for testing each day. Keep in mind that as soon as testing is over, all toyses will be reset to 0. This is only a way to test all the features and report bugs and wont be possible in the final version.General: Added the invisibility cap in the client. To use once, you must pay 100 toyses. Press ctrl i for usage or open the main context menu on Android.General: Added the history of transfer of toyses. Here can view every decrease and increase of toyses as well as the reason. To use, press ctrl r or use the main context menu on Android.General: It is possible to edit your profile from the client. To use, press ctrl p or use the main context menu on Android.Other bugfixesKnown issues:When using the client for the first time, you will be asked to input your nickname if you want to play games. Here, profile editor will open. At present, there is an issue if your Windows is English, possibly other languages as well. When you are asked to type your birthday, normally you should input in the format dd.mm., however the input field is auto completed based on your Windows date format. In case your format is for example, dd/mm/, please change temporarily your date format to Russian, restart the client, fill the birthday and then you can change it back to English or whatever it was set to.If you need instructions for this, let me know and I will provide them. This does not apply if you are on Android.Alternatively, if you use Android, you can fill the date on Android, save, and come back to play on Windows.0.0.0.81Mile by mile: Fixed a runtime error when entering a game in progress0.0.0.82Mile by mile: Fixed the inability to change game settings

Re: the forum suddenly looks different in my browser

I've had the same issue several times, and it often requires you to maximize the screen, but that doesn't always work; you could hit the index link on top of the page and the standard non-mobile site format will come back. I know you've fixed it, but that may happen sometimes so you won't need to re-install the browser if that ever happens again.

Re: Is The Road to Rage open-source?

Regarding myself, I've had enough of the so many toxicities going here and there and the kids stealing sources or modifying one line or two of an open-sourced game and claiming it their own (just like the games based off Mason's Zombie War). As such, the matter here is just one of principles so that no one claim people are wanting the once open-sourced version to continue existing just for the sake of modifying some of its code, but because what's done is done and shouldn't be reversed. Just thinking.

While I do agree I wonder what Aprone's thought are?  May I suggested a very small update or even a testing server to test melee and see it's effects.  This Melee debate is almost amusing LOL like watching presidential debates in the UNITED States.

the server is using python at least. And that's what is important for an online game. Oh btw add instagram to another social application that is using python.

Well our dev room has a stickied post at the top full of high quality free sound resources, so that should help.  noiseforfun.com, and soundimage.org (the UI_Quirky series in the SFX UI section and the synth chimes in the SFX Alerts section) as well as the mainstays like opengameart.org and freesound.;org are always useful too.I have some specific links for you to check out if you'd like that are good for UI sounds, as well, just stuff I've come across.https://obsydianx.itch.io/interface-sfx-pack-1https://freesound.org/people/jalastram/packs/19798/https://freesound.org/people/SpiceProgram/packs/22482/https://freesound.org/people/zenithinfi … acks/19452https://freesound.org/people/original_s … ds/366102/https://freesound.org/people/original_s … ds/366104/http://soundimage.org/wp-content/upload … Chime1.mp3
