Re: Paladin of the Sky tips for beginners

I did like this game but the only problem I had was with the scrolls like Final shot and that other one which I don't remember. I felt those were too luck based and it was very difficult to clear those for me. But somehow one of my friends was able to do it easily! I was really frustrated at that time. @13, I can imagine how frustrating that would have been as that happened with me once too. I mostly liked Shauna but Loosy's scrolls were also great. Simon wasn't too bad but that isn't fair that we only get him in the PG (Post Game)!

Re: Steam games that are reasonably accessible

Hi.@lukas:You mention in your article that Steam is totally useless even after having followed the guide here on the audiogames forum. I assume you mean this guide:https://forum.audiogames.net/forum/27/articles-room/You don't mention the no-dwrite parameter as described in this article. This parameter is exactly what makes Steam usable if I understand it correctly. Why do you not mention this in your guide? Simply because that even doesn't work for you?You also mention Cloud OCR. A lot of people are using the build in OCR feature in Windows 10, which works with NVDA.Sorry to say, but it seems like you haven't done much research and haven't asked much for help before you wrote the public article saying that the latest Steam is totally unusable. It works for us, so it would be better to say that it, for some reason, doesn't work on your computer. However, you mention the inaccessible installer window, where you say just press enter and it'll create an icon on the desktop. That does not happen on my computer, and I don't know how to fix that.Regarding playable games on Steam: You can find a lot of games mentioned in this topic:https://forum.audiogames.net/topic/3224 … nd-person/

Help me, how can I continue on development when this happens

2020-01-23 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : arbuz via Audiogames-reflector

Help me, how can I continue on development when this happens

Hello guys, ceriously need advice on keeping going or throwing my career as a developer,I came to a point where I need to decide how to move on my development. My 2 choices are:1. Continue on PHP projects;2. Learn C# further and then get on some projects. If I am to keep goint with PHP, i plan to work in the company as a part time job, but whatever, they use Linux everywhere and especially insist on using PHPStorm, which wasn't accessible few years ago so I used Eclipse as my current IDE for that case, but now situation is much better for Windows environment at least. Now it's accessible if we enable JABSwitch and set some conf in idea.properties file. It's one of the most popular IDEs and has Intellisence, Auto-indent, tidy, quick jumps between parts of the code, no lag, lets to easily set up Composer, frameworks, documenting / commenting code parts and so forth. Since it's accessible only on Windows environment, I thaught it will be fine, but they all use Linux environment and that means sometimes I could face issues because of inconsistancies between libraries, even such simple differences like capitalisation in namespaces/files might break down the code at some parts, also server configuration, types (Nginks, Apache or whatever) might bring headacke on mod_rewrite or php.ini. So I just want to be sure that system in which I write my code would be the same as in the server on which it will be published as a production. Since I almost have no knowledge on Linux Bash, I decided not to install it on my PC, rather instead installed WSL and chose Ubuntu OS to try it out. Well it has it's limitations. Yeah, I can admit it works fast, but when I install LAMP, I noticed all the services aren't envoked automatically after turning on that CLI / console again. What I mean to say is that WAMP doesnt' start automatically on WSL. After Googling a bit I found out there is a way around this by using schedule tasks on Windows Commant Prompt and stick with it, but if I would close that Bash window, it would require to invoke all the services by hand again or reboot my Win environment to use that scheduler, or write some file to do it for me, whatever. I just started to do this as I mentioned and now wonder if is this all right or not. I will need to use GIT, perhaps Docker at some time (which I almost know nothing about). GIT is fine, because interface goes through some sort of CLI and not the GUI so I'm safe at least with repositories.Other way around this might we just a regular installation of the Ubuntu or some other distro, though I should use Emacs or whatever do blind devs use on it and I really need these indentation, documenting and other features that I mentioned and it doesn't have it right? Perhaps Eclipse is accessible with Orca on Ubuntu? Or perhaps even PHPStorm is accessible in their with Orca? I mean how is this screen reader, worth to wach for or not?I know it's possible to use SSH with Putty to connect to the server and do stuff, also I can throw my code directly to the remote server via FTP, but I really need a decent local environment to get the work done. Or am I overthinking this? Perhaps it's possible somehow to insure that there wouldn't be any differences between configurations on LAMP and WAMP at all (that I guess less likely)?Never worked with virtual machines, maybe all the problems that I just want to test and debug my code on Linux and write it on Windows in order to get the best experience lies in this secret? Can I configure both systems together that it would work as I mentioned?I don't really want to abanden PHP, because it got me where I am today and I really need to earn money, have a great knowledge of MySQL, JS, JQuery, AJAX, XML, JSON and really woudn't want to waste these skills, but looks like technology calls the shots here.Other way is to go on Visual studio, because it's customisable, screen reader friendly, a bit laggy but can use to that. OK, that's enough, please say something useful...

Re: Is it normal for an Apple Watch to behave this way consistently?

Ok, thanks for the affirmation. I guessed this was the case, but I was just a little doubtful. At post2, this is not a bug. I wouldn't expect Apple to really care as much about the Watch's accessibility, at least not as much as IOS. And so that led to the fact that they don't want to change some core programming that has to do with the screen locking, so they left it the way everyone else, sighted people, are comfortable with it, after all they constantly look at the watch and since their wrist is raised, it's quite hard for them to lock the screen on accident, I would imagine. I could be wrong though. Point still stands, this is an intentional feature to save battery power, not a bug. I knew that all along but just wanted to clarify if every Apple watch model is this sensitive to movements.

I wish I knew half of what I know now when I was doing maths and physics in undergrad. I had a very tedious method of reading the question in latex, writing out and solving what I needed to on a braille machine, then retyping the solution in latex. Having something on a braille page helped a lot in solving things that got complex, I agree with rastislav that latex's notation makes understanding complex equations a pain. I ended up dropping maths modules in second year because I just couldn't keep up, it was too time-consuming.

Re: Personal Reflections and Rules to Live By

2020-01-23 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : zakc93 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Personal Reflections and Rules to Live By

I also just want to way in on the morality thing. The way I see it, morality is generally pretty subjective. Let's take something as obvious as killing someone is bad. That's something we can all agree on, right? Most cultures and religions have a few basic rules like this in some form. But thing is, there are always exceptions, and that's where the disagreements come in. Religious groups have their exceptions, for example in the bible and quran killing seems to be justified in some cases, like when god told the jews to invade Canaan and kill the previous occupants (whether this is historically accurate or not, the point is a religion's holy book portrays this as acceptable). Another example is states with laws against murder administering capital punishment, in effect legalising some form of killing. The issue I have with absolute morality is that you are not allowed to question it, you have to go from the assumption that it is right and then figure out why, which to me is a backward way of thinking about something. Doesn't it make more sense to debate something and decide if it's really the right way to go about it? There are a lot of things that christian and muslim morality dictates that I find pretty immoral by my standards. But at least in the arguments I've had with religious people they seem unable to accept this, rather attempting (and often failing) to justify the sometimes seemingly unjustifiable because if their book says their god said so, then it has to be good and right and moral no matter what. I personally feel like a better approach to morality would be to empirically identify the impact of actions, and base your morality on that. I don't see why people can't be allowed to do whatever they want as long as it has no impact on other people. To take the alcohol example, we can inform people about the negative health consequences of drinking, but if they still want to drink despite that it should be their choice, we shouldn't decide for someone what they can and can't do with their own body. But when it comes to drunk driving we have a right to do something because then they're endangering others, and infringing on their rights to be safe on the road. Essentially I'm saying you shouldn't have a say in what someone else does unless it effects or can effect you.

Re: Retroarch is now accessible

I noticed two things.1. By default sapi is being used at volume 80. for some speech engines, this seems to really make speech quiet.2. Retro arch doesn't seem to be honoring the sapi language settings that Barry has made. Normally when RA speaks through Sapi, it's checking for MS david, but changing the default speech voice seems to cause it to either use a random voice, or in the case of eloquence, use eloquence itself. I haven't messed with this too much, but I feel like just telling sapi to use the default voice would be the best method. I was going to add in tolk support just to see how that would work, but my c++ knowledge is very limited, and I've never used load_library, and would have 0 idea where to start on that.

Alright here's some ideas from me. A realistic mode where you would be able to target the rage taker and shoot certain parts of the body. Then depending on where you shoot, and what weapon he'll start to bleed and lose health from the wounds. Then how about some torture devices like hanging, slowly breaking bones, electric shock, etc.

What you would do in Reaper is have projects recording that monitor the different outputs (the game and the microphone, for example). But if you plug your computer into one of the stereo channels, and then have a second soundcard play your screen reader, you can get game-audio and microphone audio, and you don't need to change a thing about it.

Re: WxPython so many things to learn

The differences between Python 2 & 3 core basics are relatively minor, like using brackets with print statements. Its probably preferred to start with Python 3, but hardly world ending if you don't.@14Base Python does not come with wxPython, you'll have to install it separately. Many of the GUI interfaces are accessible, but a number of them also aren't, like the AUI notebooks. You can check out the Demo's I mentioned in post 5, though if you want any examples just ask and i'll see what I can do.

I cannot transcribe math or music into braille because the requirements state that you have to be able to see the printed math and the print music score. As in you have to be able to read the printed papers and then enter that stuff into the computer to be transcribed, or scan it and make corrections if needed which requires sight which I do not have.

Re: Am I really that immature?

Is that what you think, Nocturnis? That I'm wearing socks whose colour you can't see?Well, have I got news for you.I'm not wearing socks at all. There's a good reason though.Socks are the way that fabric manufacturing companies spy on your comings and goings. They use analyticsto determine the wear and tear of your socks as a means of the ostensible goal of making the most comfortable, long-lasting socks for the lowest price. In truth, I tend to think they're doing for socks what Apple does for iPhones...planned obsolescence, among other things. Scarier still, though, is that they use tiny microchips embedded in your socks to determine things like footspeed, distance walked, frequency of walks, and combined with things like your phone and the little brainstem implants most of us have, can be used to infer a metric ton of data. I know that not wearing socks doesn't really stop them learning about me and my habits, but I persist nevertheless. Even a rogue admin who has apparently programmed the minds of many, after all, is fallible. One day while I sleep, they'll break down my door, storm into my apartment, and then the Jayde you know will be no more. It's only a matter of time before they find out where I am, what I do, and carefully orchestrate a speedy ingress and extraction that will leave the smallest footprint.

Alt frequency is a situation where you need to copy a recording clip and play it on another radio frequency. Sometimes it takes trial and error, at least it did for me, and it's funny to see some of their reactions. You kinda have to piece together what's going on in your head and use the hint to take information from one frequency and broadcast it to another.

Updates to the python tutorials by Nathan Tech

Hello everyone!Over the next few days, I'm going to be updating the Python tutorials section of my website.Currently, the tutorials are numbered 1 to 7, and cover various matters that are aimed at getting you started from knowing nothing, to knowing, at least, how to use the python programming language.part 2 of the tutorials, which details how to apply this knowledge in the making of a simple guess the numbers game, has now been fully recorded.I am creating this topic as I am going to be doing a number of updates over the next few days, and figured some people may llike them documented.Today, for instance, I wrote text scripts for the first 3 audio tutorials.I have also made the layout a little easier in terms of putting the code snippers and the text scripts under buttons which you can press to expand.I will be working on text scripts for the other tutorials tomorrow, as well as writing the text scripts for the audio tutorials of the second half.I want to release the audio and text scripts for the second half together, so that may take a day or two.But I hope you like them, and look forward to your feedback!

There are accessible crockpots and such, which can be used to make things like rice, and a video around of people using regular air fryers. There's a few articles around on sewing techniques and a few supplies [here] and [here], but a specific blind accessible sewing machine seems hard to track because of an apparent cross linking with Blind Stitch sewing machines. Re: Test your reflexes with Perilous Marathon 1.3!

Fact, post 1 still does not contain any information about the game save a link that takes you to another page.  Isn't this supposed to be audiogames.net?  Isn't this a forum for audiogame discussion?  If you don't have the time to write out an entry when you submit a new release I don't have any money to give to you or any reason to consider you anything less than unprofessional.  Stick out your neck for your community and any possible future customers if you want money or else stop acting like you deserve it.And yes, I do feel I have the right to make this post for two reasons:1.  You can scroll through every post and every topic I've made and you'll not find one like it, meaning this probably is the one topic that finally disgusted me enough to actually make such a post.  Read it and weep.2.  I do not believe anything I've said was overly destructive, disrespectful or otherwise negative.  Harsh?  Perhaps, but truth can be that way.  All I see at present, and that only from reading the first 40 or so posts on this topic, is someone who believes that just because they produced a game based off of someone else's ideas and with someone else's sound libraries they are entitled to receive monitary support to half-heartedly keep it going.

Ok.Regarding the whole sun thing, since I have some usable vision, I can tell whether or not light is in the room. Also, if print is big enough, I can read it, but it has to be larger than the standard Large print, and it takes me a lot longer. Therefore, I only use print for short amounts of time, because if I try too long, it makes my eyes get tired. That's why I stick to using screen readers most of the time. For me, my visual impairment is something that's just there, and I have to learn different ways of doing things. No big deal.I will say that recently, accessibility has been getting a little more notice, but not as much as it should be.

Re: Survive the Wild!

Right. Sorry for this taking longer than expected. Deathstar, my responses to your posts are belowDeathstar wrote:Amerikranian, isn't the game paid enough already? OMG, just oMFG.This just does not make any semblance of sense. You do realize that the game is already paid? I urge you to reread my post. If you are worried about the game becoming even more of a cash grabber, I assure you that, should my suggestions get implemented, people would simply have nowhere to put their money besides purchasing more time for their accounts. The store will be gone. Death free cards will be gone. All the premium items will be removed. So, how is making the game a pay-to-play makes it over your definition of "paid enough already?" Moreover, what is that definition? You do know that people shell out cash on a regular bases when it comes to this product, right? I have heard accounts of somebody spending 500 dollars on death free cards and teleporters alone. Whether these accounts are true makes no difference, point is that if one person does it, so will others. By removing the store, Sam will remove any advantages those with cash have over those who do not. That is just a side benefit, though. By making you pay to play the game, Sam is basically forcing those who seek others' misery pay 15 dollars every time they get banned, which is a plus in my book. That is why Swamp, though having some drama, does tend to keep the public channels free and clear from cheating.Deathstar wrote:Well if he really does this, then he'll lose most of his player base and the ones who just can't efford it.That is a moot point and you know it. I already have showed the multitude of benefits which could be obtained should Sam decide to make his game paid. Furthermore, I once point you again to the statement I made earlier: Games are a want, not a need. There are other ones out there, though none equal this one in their controls. I am sorry, the world does not evolve around those who cannot afford a game. That is the amusing part: It is a game. An online game, but a game none the less. There are other alternatives out there.Deathstar wrote:So those rich people will stay who had thousands of items before, making the game less balanced, because they'll keep just killing eachother.Wrong. Not every rich person will have 1000 items. Furthermore, if one person dies, they will die, period. Remember, the store for purchasing Death Free Cards and teleporters will be removed and all the traces of the mentioned items be wiped from the player inventories. Yes, the items will still be in circulation. However, that is like saying "The rich people will just keep gaining more money and eventually there will be nothing left." That statement within itself is ridiculous not only do to the government having checks on those types of individuals, but also do the fact that, if one kills somebody, they will use something to do the act with. So, over time, the resources will deplete and the game will return to a state of equilibrium. Finally, though I cannot remember it for certain, but I thought you lose some items when you die. Thus, if one kills somebody, a portion of the dead person's inventory will be lost, further contributing toward reaching equal power.Deathstar wrote:There will be more drama, and of course, more people asking for money. Will it be good? Yes. For who? The moneyhungry dev who coded something once, can't even spell their native language but they are damn proud of it, and they want just more and more money.Surely I am misunderstanding your meaning here. From what I see, you are criticizing Sam's grammar, something which is a big no no on this forum. Please, for your own sake, don't, especially when your own writing skills are less than stellar. Neither are mine. I make common mistakes as well. What I do not do, however, is go around and criticize others for their spelling, because I am sure that if one was bored enough, they could find grammatical errors in this post, and that is without trying. Finally, your point about asking for money supports my earlier benefit: Any person will be forced to pay every time they cheat. If you ask for money, you are much more likely to be careful in regards to any decision you make concerning any situation it pertains to. Why? It is not your own money. Someone was kind enough to gift you with an account. Should you happen to lose it, you are not guaranteed a replacement.Deathstar wrote:Why is it good, seriously? It was all better like 2 years ago. You felt like you're really playing, and not like now, when you must avoid several maps if you don't have long-ranged weapons, for example for lions. The game is getting to be less realistic. Although now I'll be experimenting as well, because I've got a paid account. I'll be curious to experience the difference. I just don't like this attitude, when someone codes something and after they see they can gain more and more money, they take less

Re: Is your cell phone spying on you?

Well it's kind of like I said elsewhere concerning phone and internet services overall.  The fact is that behemoth companies are raking in the cash because these are slowly but surely becoming basic needs for the overall consumer given the fact that we can transfer and receive information at great speeds owing to said services.  The end result is that because these companies have the money to do so they end up putting politicians in office that can push forth legislation on how said services and content provided by these services are handled.  I feel the same is true here.  The consumer cannot help themselves from getting a new device as post 5 pointed out, resulting in an easy way to keep the information gathering experience going and the user locked in.

Re: Is your cell phone spying on you?

One of the things that really worries me is how while computers have their own structural problems and are highly commodified and privatized themselves, they still have some factors that protect them from completely being privatized. Cell phones on the other hand are the capitalist nightmare. Literally everything about their design is to be more crappy so you buy the new one in a year. It's called planned obsolescence and has been a serious problem for a while now. This kind of monitoring is no different; and look at how Apple puts a price on your privacy in comparison to other brands. And they're still probably monitoring the shit out of you despite everything they say, look at Facebook. These things wouldn't be a problem if we had more ownership of the cell phone pipeline but it just doesn't work that way. If you're doing anything that actually requires security I wouldn't use a phone. Hell, I wouldn't even take my phone with me in some cases.

Re: How to become a moderator?

@Liam I actually think it's more your writing style than your overall persona.  Some people can maintain their personality whether writing or speaking; some cannot.  I've heard you on your streams and other places and you don't come across the same as you do on forum.@Jayde, you're welcome, and none of what you said in post 14 surprises me in the slightest... I figured that would be your take on it all the way through given your writing on here and the way you present yourself, which is why I did believe you would make a good mod in the end.  My personal opinion had I been granted the ability to have voiced it would have been something along the lines of allowing you access on a supervised level in a sense, not just because of you, but also given the amount of stuff that was going on surrounding the Walter Lory situation.  for me it wasn't so much an upset that you became a moderator, but how you became a moderator, and it seems that to you at least it was somewhat distasteful as well, which is just as good to know. All that having been said, I've done my best to be as understanding of the way things happened given everything that was going on; I can completely understand how those who ended up choosing felt and their reasoning behind speeding up the process.  There was a want and even a need to think that someone else was willing to take some of the slack most of us were feeling as the result of that article.  I've got a ton of tough skin and calluses in all the right places, so none of what was said about me personally bothered me... Thank goodness. But Jayde becoming a mod the way he did solidified for me and at least two other mods who left at the same time that things would not be business as usual and made us feel less than welcome or wanted, let alone important and worth considering.  It was in many senses the nail in the coughin given a few other things I just won't bring up because I don't want to further any bad feelings that whole mess ended up creating. As I said elsewhere, it left a super bad taste in many of our mouthes and recovery, if in fact it has happened has been rather slow and painful.

Basic knowledge for me. If you have a device with a microphone, camera, or an internet connection, that's just what happens. Not a big deal to me.

Re: Looking for a mixer

So, since I'm just figuring out VAC, and still figuring out reaper, can I have an explanation of how that would work? I have the habit of breaking things, so figured the go Xlr mini would be easier, and probably safer, but if i can do the same thing for cheaper, I'm willing to.

Re: Looking for a mixer

Re, Espresso: Now that makes me a lot more confident about selling the Zenix 502/exchanging it for the q802. For a while I thought the fact that the bottom half of one of my 1/4 to 1/8 adapters crumbled and fell inside the mixer would diminish its quality. But if you spilled espresso into yours and yours still works, mine should be totally fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like the simplest way to describe Sequence Storm is by saying that the accessible mode is Rhythm Rage on steroids. And really? I never knew Frequency Missing was on PC. I knew Alt Frequencies was though

Re: Looking for a mixer

Besides, if an asio mixer actually costs that much because asio then we've got problems, lol. Software drivers for Asio exist, download the trial of FL Studio and make sure that you set it to install its Asio driver, and you could probably get asio benefits through use of your mixer. Before someone says Asio4all yes, I know, that does exists and is obviously a lighter package, but FL Studio's asio driver does audio handling better, e.g. more of the real deal as it were and it doesn't handle it like a free package would. FL Studio's demo never expires, and even though the d a w itself is not accessible, the asio driver can be used in other d a w's.
