Re: What do you think about the Corona virus conspiracy theories?

Trump very obviously didn't create Covid-19 himself; he doesn't have that kind of intellect. I'd wager most people don't, but Trump definitely doesn't.And no, I definitely don't believe that Trump would've set it loose if he could have, either. Look at the ass-kicking he's gotten over it. He had nothing to gain either by trying to have such a virus engineered or by letting it loose, except maybe to blame it on China. If you don't appreciate me blaming the president for not doing his job, tough shit, bro. He was elected to do a job, and he's making every excuse in the book not to do it, including blaming crime on democrats and claiming he'll fix it if he's re-elected. He's already been here for three years, and has apparently fixed absolutely nothing. Unless you count stuff like that photo-shoot where he gassed peaceful protestors? But wait, there's more! I can't believe there's more!Accman, you said you're at the end of your rope when it comes to job prospects. I used to have loads of sympathy for you, but...well, yeah, it's gone now. All of it. Every wisp. Up in smoke, just like almost everything else you've said on the subject thus far..Let me get this straight. The company, Pearson, has said that you can come in to a testing center while wearing a mask in order to get your certification. They have accepted that their screenreader stuff isn't the best remotely, so they're giving you an alternative way of proceeding with the education you claim to need so desperately. And presumably, you aren't refusing because you're afraid to leave your home. You're refusing because you're being told that doing this will require you to wear a mask.So let's cut the explanation and boil this all the way down. You're refusing to further your own education, which you claim to need, on the "moral" high ground of not wanting to be forced to wear a mask? You're going to turn your nose up at a viable solution because you can't be bothered putting on a cloth mask, dealing with the temporary unpleasantness and then bloody well being done? How dare you come here and expect those who are dealing with far worse than you are - and quite against their will, I might add - to share your plight. How dare you demonize people for apparently not knowing or respecting what you're going through, when part of the solution to your problems literally involves a two-dollar disposable mask and a brief period of physical discomfort which will not risk your long-term health. How dare you claim that you have the best interest of your family at heart. How dare you play any sympathy cards at all when you have a clear-cut solution but refuse to take it. The way you've put it across, dude, your anti-mask stance is quite literally standing between you and potential employment. You not only refuse to keep yourself and others safe just in general, but you're going to let that stand between you and forward progress? Do I have to enumerate in detail how fundamentally selfish this is? I hope to Christ I don't. Just...how fucking dare you.You have lost every shred of credibility, both moral and personal, that you ever might have had, as far as I'm concerned. For the sake of your family, put the fucking mask on, get the fucking testing done, and get on with your fucking life instead of continuing to piss and moan about how hard it all is. Yeah, life's hard. Now take the solution that's literally just about staring you in the face, and get busy doing the thing you want everyone else to do. Find a way to cope. Get yourself out there and get back to normal. Make yourself useful. Learn to adapt to the situation. Because right now, you're nothing but an entitled, selfish, misinformed hypocrite with delusions of common sense. I just pray that you and yours don't pay the ultimate price for your choices, because as I've doubtless pointed out before, I suspect that would be a really, really bitter pill to swallow. If only we were all so fortunate that all of our short-term money problems could be avoided simply by wearing a mask, eh?

@17, firstly the author of BGT directly stated that it is abandoned and he will no longer update it.secondly, python has more features than BGT, can be used outside audio game development (which I'm currently using it for), you can find jobs and make money out of it (backend development, data science etc),, and furthermore, doesn't have the limitations of BGT llike ability to use threads, (although GIL controls the threading), ability to use TCP sockets (which bgt doesn't have) and so on and so forth.third, which is related to the above reason, python has a very very large community,, there are various forums, mailing lists, and you can find answer to so many questions in stackoverflow by a very simple search. but, for BGT, you can askk your questions only in this forum.to complete this third reason, it has also a huge number of packages, which are available on pip (which this also is related to this large community).and these are the main reasons related to this comparison, which made us create lucia in the first place to make it simple to migrate from bgt to python for the people who are learning and for people who use bgt to have a little similar look and feel of bgt at first when they use python.

The only reason you find yourself in this situation is because you refuse to cooperate with rules set in place by the CDC and nations all around the world. Then your stance of sayign how your actions won't kill people, how wearing masks just to take a test is stupid... its pretty shaky. If your refusal to wear a mask won't get anyone killed, then why do we have over 200,000 deaths in this nation alone? Hmm? Yes, nearly all, if not all, of those deaths were caused by 'underlying medical conditions'. But that in no way means that COVID-19 had nothing to do with those deaths at all.

@Dark eagle, that's slightly scary as regards India and Pakistan, and not particularly something I'd heard. Then again, most Indians and Pakistanis I've met have been third or fourth generation English, so how far they've followed the country's politics I don't know. I have finished peace talks. Actually it did get extremely good, albeit the hole Dresden angxt thing and tendency to self flagellate reared it's uggly head once again, though I wish we'd seen more of his daughter maggy. what was really interesting, was the way Butcher ended on a major cliff hanger. While he's done this before, they've still tended to be conclusive cliff hangers, here however, he literaly stops with Dresden going into battle, and a potentially gigantic world changing event on the horizon, indeed I hope Butcher keeps up the tension for the next book and that we're finally going into the end game, as the name checks and summing up of much of the series suggest. I never actually read the two collections of Dresden shorts, side jobs and brief cases, so I will probably do that fairly soon myself.

Re: What do you think about the Corona virus conspiracy theories?

Jade, my actions are not going to get people killed, so let's stop that nonsense right now. I also do not appreciate the president of my country being blamed for everything that's happened here. Hell, I'm surprised you didn't just come out and blame him for having made the virus from the get-go. I mean, that would be like me blaming Justin Trudo for any problems that Canada may face, and we both know that wouldn't be right. As for being angry at the state of things. Hell yes, I am angry. I can't find work, I need work, and haven't been able to find it since this whole damned thing started. I am also a little more worked up now this is supposed to be one of the high points of the year for the gigs that I do. I need solutions, and I am not getting them. I am a results-driven person, and I am not getting the results that I need to have. I thought this career path I had chosen to try in IT would work out and the training is actually going very well. However, I can't go for any of the certifications at this time because Pearson, the company that provides the tests, basically runs their tests in a way that you can't even get into them with a screen-reader. They say it is because of the way their software is configured. Anyway, I've been going round and round with them over this for over a month now with, yet again, on results. So, I am working my ass off in the training, and, at this point, would have nothing more to show for it than having gotten straight A's in the coursework. I can't do the music now, and it looks like, as of this point, that my best choice of an alternate career is blocked as well. So, please excuse me if I am on edge here and getting to the point where I've had it with the way things are. The company said that I could just go to the testing center which I would do, but I am not wearing a damned mask just to take a test. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. I know that's their policy, but I have policies of my own as well. I don't know if anyone else here has tired for IT certifications, but if you have and you've had to go through Pearson then you probably would be aware of what I've had to put up with from them. Anyway, sorry for the long post. I'm going to go see about fixing up some hot apple cider. for those of you who may never had tried that, it is really good stuff.

Re: The wheel of time and other fantasy books

@Targa, have you read shadowmarch by Tad Williams? I didn't like them as much as memory sorrow and thorn, but they were an awesome series nonetheless. Williams is also currently writing a sequel series set in ostin ard a good thousand years later, though I am going to wait until he's finished those, because he does have a habbit of doing one story in bits.@Wing of Eternity, the fact that the third book of WoT is called "the dragon reborn" should tell you something . You will find out more about the dark one and the state of the world, though in WoT it is the character development and factionism which is the main focus, indeed it's sort of interesting that Jordan took such a blatant "everyone vs the dark lord" setup, and then had so many different groups and factions. it's both extremely clever, and (in later books), highly frustrating, along with the mistrust and character development angles. @Firefly, I'll have to check bob Hendi. As regards eddings and brooks, it's true that both are somewhat architypal, however eddings is saved for me by good comic banter and timing, and the fact that his formula is fun at least the once if you know what you're getting, albeit by Althalas he was running out of steam and I've heard his latter books are really not worth reading. Imho The Ellennium  is the best series of his, followd by the Belgariad, followed by their respective sequels., where as Brooks stuff was just a bit too standard to be interesting, plus Brooks, (like Feist), really cannot write good dialogue.Btw, interestingly enough I realise I am forgetting some authors I read more recently who dont'# exactly fall into the epic fantasy mode, but should probably be mentioned here anyway, these are also books I've reviewed, for fantasybookreview.co.uk so Find the reviews here guy Gavril Kay: His fionava tapestry is probably one of the most beautifully written fantasy trilogies I've read, about five graduate students who go into another world. It has rough edges, and I really didn't like the way that in the second and third books, the story of the students got subsumed into arthurian legend (especially one character who goes through a horrific experience, then basically just turns into queen Guinevere), but the series was amazing. Unfortunately, after that Kay sort of moved in to doing alt history fantasy. I read his book last light of the sun, a sort of alternative take on viking legend and was rather disappointed, since the plotting was if anything a bit too "Real life, and real life sucks!" but I've heard really good things about other books of his work. Though he's not an easy writer he is someone I want to read more. Mercedes lackey: At the complete opposite end to Kay, since her stuff really is very fluffy, but has it's nice moments. Again, more books about characters getting on their feet than exploring fantasy kingdom, plus her magic is a bit too convenient, still, the last book of hers, brightly burning I did rather enjoy, ad I am tending to go back to her when I want a comfrot read. alisan Sinclair's darkborn trilogy: A really awesome mix of steampunk, unique magic and almost Jane austin style dialogue, plus one of the most unique worlds I've found. A world where light burns the dark born who must be inside at dawn, and arkness melts the light born. This also means all the darkborn are blind (though she deals with that rather badly). A great, character rich series, really badly let down by a too quick conclusion, indeed the third volume reads almost like a cancelled tv series. A shame, since if the third book was as good as the first two I'd be recommending this as one of the best ever.China Mievil's Veslag series: I'm not sure if you'd call these epic fantasy, since yee gods the world is unique, they're also grim as hell (really this guy could give Martin lessons).

However, the writing is some of the most amazing I've seen, especially in the first book perdido street station, indeed I don't give out ten star ratings that often, (lord of the rings and duncton quest are the only other two), but this one earned it.C S Friedman's Coldfire trilogy: Again, another of my lady's favourites. ~These really are an odd series being sort of fantasy mixed with sf. I would agree with others that it gets much better at university, however once you finish university it gets worse again, because that's when those few people you've met who are in your interest/interlect bracket move on to do things like procreate and once more forget you exist, and since most adults (at least in the UK), think blind people don't exist by default, your pretty much back where you started. Bare in mind here, I am speaking as someone who at one point ran the philosophy society, organised major events and was a part of the community, someone whose done stage productions and even been in the Guinness book of records. I have taught myself the art of conversation, I don't engage in blindisms, I know what being accepted looks like, the plane fact is, it just doesn't happen very much. My lady is convinced this is England, she said things were better in other parts of Europe, and I did notice at least the ice breaking part, and getting people to actually recognise I am the same species was a little less difficult when I was  in the states, albeit the options for conversation were far more limited. And all of this of course long before social distancing and covid, indeed, the sort of frightening part about social distancing for my lady and I is that it really has made very little difference to us, given that, unlike apparently most people, we do not find the idea of going into crowded, noisy spaces and imbibing neurotoxins, whilst either yelling incoherently or jiggling around in an uncoordinated fashion to be a worthwhile method of recreation. So I'm afraid at the moment my best advice on loneliness is, get used to it.

Joe Biden and Barack Obama both condemn violence of this nature. They're democrats. So, in fact, do most elected officials in affected areas, and believe it or not, some of them are democrats too. You apparently didn't read my links clearly enough, because if you had, you'd note that this rise in crime (murder in particular) has gone up in the last year, nation-wide. Excuse me...who is it, exactly, that's running your country again? He's a...republican, isn't he?...Ahem, what was that you were saying?Accman, I am no longer interested in actually trying to change your mind. You tried claiming my arguments had no merit when I swore a time or three, and now you're trying to once again dictate the terms of how I engage with you. Sorry, bud; not gonna happen. I'm flatly convinced that your mind will not be changed, because that would mean you had to stare yourself in the face and admit that you were wrong. You seem extremely resistant to that whole concept. There are many people in the world with whom I will actually hold a respectful discussion about politics; you aren't one of them. You forfeited that consideration when you decided that your righteous anger at the state of affairs entitled you to make choices that might kill people. You forfeigted that consideration when you decided you were going to ignore all evidence that didn't fit your worldview. I'm not interested in playing nice with you or winning you over; in this sense, at least, you've been a lost cause for months. No, I'm here to fact-bust, for the most part. To squish every silly, banal and misrepresented claim you make. Because in this tiny microcosm of the world, I have the ability to destroy fake news, discredit bad science and do research which undermines virtually every point you've ever made from a political angle. If I can make even one forum member think twice before swallowing the tripe you're peddling, then I've done my job.

Jade, I looked at that article you posted, and there are good points there I will admit. that still doesn't change the truth that we have increased violence in places like New York City, Chicago, and other places, most of which happen to be democrat-run cities. what I desire to know is why this violence is allowed, yet we'll crack down on businesses that want to open at full capacity during this time. that is a major inconsistency, and that would be the case with or without the virus being in play here. And, I can see that it isn't just democrats failing to address this violence as well, so we won't even go down that path again with this. I think this is what's got folks like myself perplexed, and yes, even angry. Why are these riots permitted, and why is it suddenly acceptable for people to trash businesses, but somehow it is unacceptable for a business to want to reopen and operate as it is supposed to during this time. If one is accepted, then the other should be as well. i think if that question can be answered by our politicians, then we might see some fo the frustration go away, at least I'd hope it would.

History is a guide that we ought to be learning from, and yet we have a bunch of idiots out there who would pretend that they can somehow erase bits of it that offend them. I know history is not pleasant in many ways, but tearing down monuments and all that stuff is not going to change anything. If history tells us what we ought to try and what we should not try, then how is it that we keep repeating the same mistakes over, and over again?Jade: if you wish to teach me anything your going to have to can that attitude of yours. I'm late to this discussion, but all this is is a thing that carbonates water.  You can add syrup or whatever to taste, and unless I'm very much mistaken you can also do things like carbonated apple juice, etc. in it if you do a little bit of homework first.  They carbonate differently so you want to know what you're getting into, and my experiments were done in an isi whip when I went through my molecular gastronomy phase, which makes doing it easier, so ymmv.A lot of surprising stuff will carbonate though.  Whole fruit for example, though I doubt a soda stream has a big enough opening for that.In any case, there's a very large margin for error.

Re: What do you think about the Corona virus conspiracy theories?

@110, you seem to be using history as an all-knowing arbiter of what should and should not happen. History is meant to be used as a guide, not as a god telling you what to do and what not to do. Just because history tells us that Communism is bad does not mean that it will be bad in the future. The same thing could apply to literally everything else in history. History is just something that is there to tell you what happened when x tried y before. And though it is an excellent tutor, it is also set in stone. The future, on the other hand, is fluid in nature; it is constantly changing, constantly morphing into something different. You cannot say, definitively, that rioting is, in fact, bad at this time, because that may be just what this country needs -- a kick in the ass to actually start doing things right for a change. History has shown that peaceful protests have done wonders, but it also tells us that riots and civil wars are one of the best -- albeit the most brutal -- approaches to making wide, sweeping changes that no one in power actually wants to do because it violates their worldview. That, my friend, is called a revolution. And it will happen to every country at least once in its lifetime. Usually, revolutions happen many times throughout a countries existence; I have no doubt that Great Britten, being one of the oldest countries on the planet, has suffered through many in its past. Revolutions are, believe it or not, good things. As time passes and a country grows and grows, more and more of its people become set in their ways and refuse to change. And that goes even if something drastic like COVID-19 or the death of a black man comes along and practically roars in their faces to do something different. Nope, they just keep on doing what they do because what they know works, and it works well. But it only works so long. Nothing can remain static and unchanging, and when something drastic comes along and requires a change, these people, so set in their ways of doing things, refuse to budge, and so they get swept away in the tides of time and replaced, by force if necessary, by someone who will actually make those necessary changes. That, Accman, is the wonderful, beautiful, chaotic power of nature. I suspect that, should a revolution happen in america -- which is seeming more and more likely -- it will be extremely undesirable to us, those who are living through it. But when generations look back upon the 21st century, they may say, "That revolution was a long time in coming -- and it should've happened decades earlier."

God, I'm only skimming  at this point, but are we seriously on rioting again?  I can't tell you all how much I laughed to find out that Seattle is a "anarchist city" earlier this week.  Our riots are a few idiots here and there getting drunk and being stupid, everything actually sizable has been peaceful until the cops lost their shit 20 feet from my front door repeatedly.yeah there's been some bad stuff, but seriously, it's not like mad max or something.  If people weren't trying to make a political point we wouldn't call it rioting, we'd call it property damage and vandalism. You know you've mismanaged something when the blind white guy who used to just not care now wants absolutely nothing to do with the local cops due to first-hand experience of how they handle this stuff.  Shame that apparently if you don't actually live in these cities, it's right-wing "we must send in the army" bullshit.

Re: What do you think about the Corona virus conspiracy theories?

Jade, you'd do the same for communism or socialism--whatever you want to call it. I defend where I stand, and you defend your view. I've seen in history where it doesn't work, and that's not being dogmatic about anything. We have historical accounts that tell the story. If our so-called democratic party is so great and wonderful, then ho is that all they did these past four years is try to remove our president instead of actually trying to work within their communities to, I don't know, make things better and safer. It is no secret that democrat-run cities are where the violence and looting have mainly been taking place, and yet they seem perfectly fine with that. I would really like to beable to give these people the attention they want, but when I see what happens in these place that are being run by democrats then I have to wonder why I should when they're willing to allow so much destruction to take place in order to be heard. You say that we republicans are dogmatic, well the democrats, or whatever they are now, are just as dogmatic as you say we are. Both sides have their issues, but I will not side with those that will allow rioting and looting in order to get their point across.the problem I have with redistribution of wealth, and I've seen this in Vermont where I am originally from, is that money is taken from, in this case, cities and towns that are doing well and given to the ones that are doing poorly. that's all well and good, but when I see no further improvements in those towns that are given these funds, then I have to wonder if that's really the wisest thing to do. It also makes has made property taxes go way up in some towns which is actually causing people to move out of the state. We just had a school close down recently and it was due to the fact that, because of this wealth redistribution, things got so expensive in the town for people to keep living there and sending their children to school there. I also understand how these ideals have been severely perverted throughout history. the issue I have with going forward with communism is that you cannot give me an iron-clad guarantee that these mistakes wouldn't happen again. You have made some good points, an idiot. I just am not convinced that these mistakes wouldn't be repeated, and am not willing to risk my life or that of my family on something that we haven't seemed to learn from yet.

@ Accman, A few Things here. What is your issue with the redistribution of wealth? And now to the second, in a communist society, a true one, there would be no elites. Now to history.  The perversions of the 20th century never truly reached communism, and simply being a leftist should not deem us supporters of those regimes, as in fact they are quite problematic. There mistakes and shortcomings should be learned from, not repeated. I would argue that the same can be said for an ideology itself. Like everything else, an ideology evolves, sometimes in to new ones. Thus, if this is kept in mind, it cannot be said that Modern day Communists are operating in the exact same way as some have in the past.

Also, a few points just to make sure everyone's on the same page:Authoritarian communism differs vastly from virtually everything else on the list, because central to authoritarian communism is the idea that dissention is silenced, and the rule of those in power is absolute. There are marked differences between authoritarian communism or socialism, and more anarchic/libertarian versions of same. There's also a difference - and a pretty damn big one - between communism and democratic socialism. I've said all this before. Not all leftists are Marxists, and not all Marxists are actually leftists. I happen to think he had some fairly good ideas, but that doesn't make me a communist and it doesn't mean I'm evil.Oh, and as for Biden? If you're calling him a leftist, you have no concept whatsoever of what being a leftist means.

I think we should host the games, but honor any formal, verifiable requests to take down or otherwise stop distributing them. If the developer surfaces to ask that the games get taken down, that would also give those of us who purchased the games a chance to ask him to provide us a legitimate method to continue playing them.

And I'll answer again. Look at history, and you'll find your answers. One problem I have with it is this thing about the needs of the many  outweighing the needs of the few. Taking from the rich to give to the pour, or as it is commonly called the redistribution of wealth. There is also all of the talk of the greater good, which I know full well translates to the greater good as far as the elite is concerned. There is no getting ahead in life because that would mean the so-called playing field would not be level. It's basic stuff like that where I have issues with this. I mean it sounds and looks good on paper, but it just doesn't work.

Some rather interesting discussions in the event. Different tab construction, anode composition, and battery performance as expected, but also huge improvements in manufacturing efficiency. Like the game of Factorio, it mostly talked about effcient build processes to scale up production beyond just a Gigafactory, to a TeraFactory, so as to produce 1 Terrawatt's worth of battery energy regularly to help transition the world to electrical energy and cars. With these efficiencies, they can potentially drop the price of a Tesla vehicle to 25,000$.You can watch a replay of the event [here] if you missed it.

Move the stick around, and when you hear a click, that means you can aim and fire at a target instead of at the empty air. But if you press x and it fires, apparently your character will always fire at the nearest target as long as there is one in range, so it doesn't let you shoot at empty air. At least, not from what I've noticed.@stirlock, thanks for confirming what I thought. I figured that was what it was, but just wanted to make sure in case I was missing something. lol

Re: 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Discussion

Move the stick around, and when you hear a click, that means you can aim and fire at a target instead of at the empty air. But if you press x and it fires, apparently your character will always fire at the nearest target as long as there is one in range, so it doesn't let you shoot at empty air. At least, not from what I've noticed.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

So I noticed something with pollution solution. If a manamon resists poison damage, pollution solution won't work. I think other ways of poisoning it still work though. That seems weird to me. Also, has anyone tried some of the other poison types? How about Turoison, or Ratiera? Thornita? Treezon? Trumer? Though taking a quick look at some of these, it kinda seems like the movesets or stats aren't really all that good once you look past Sansurgion, Cerberat/Delazzard and Ursinearator. I think I like the pure poison  types. Sansurgion is kind of one-trick I guess but they aren't weak to a lot, and Delazzard is weak to even less. Though like I said, a broomstick does the same thing for the others that are weak to earth so there's that.

Re: What do you think about the Corona virus conspiracy theories?

Accman, that's not what I asked. What I asked is what specific problems you have with the ideology. Are you not even able to cite your objections to Marxist philosophy in a clear and cogent manner? I'm not going to do the work of inventing excuses for you to hate on something that I don't even think you actually understand. There is nothing wrong with explaining why you were sharper than normal. There is nothing wrong with feeling that you may have to defend yourself. However, when you apologize and defend yourself at the same time, the message you send is, "I wouldn't have done x if you hadn't done y". It's a really nasty passive-aggressive way of shifting blame, or at least trying to spread it around. The way one generally apologizes is by taking ownership of one's mistake in as unqualified a manner as possible. "I'm sorry. I went too far." or "I was upset, but I know I shouldn't have said that, so I'm sorry". If your apology has an excuse buried in it, it's not sincere. I can't understand how you've got through this much of life and haven't figured that out.

This post inspired me to look into this myself. I don't have a huge soda habit but want to try reducing the sweetness by using less syrup, adding in different ingredients to change the flavor profile, etc.One question I have is about the syrup. I can't get a straight answer on whether you just add a few drops to your water, or if you pour into the cap. How does this work? If just a few drops, how do you manage that? Are the bottles droppers? If pouring into a cap, does it flow slowly enough that pouring lots of liquid into a small container is easy enough? Thanks.

Jade, look to history for your answers. You'll see what Marxism can cause if you do that. As for me owning up to things, I've already said that I am willing to do that when I know I am wrong. I apologized and went on to explain why I had responded the way I did. I will not apologize for standing up for myself when I know I've been personally attacked. However, I guess that's somehow wrong now. I will not apologize for defending myself, so get used to it. As I told him earlier, if you can't take the heat do not light the fire. One thing I can say about this COVID-19 business is that it has, in many ways, brought out the absolute worse in people, and I include myself in this. I normally am not this way, and I'd like to think that people normally aren't.

Re: What do you think about the Corona virus conspiracy theories?

So, Accman, the tl.dr is "sorry not sorry". Dude, you really are a piece of work.Pro-tip: if your apology has the word "but" in it, it's probably not an apology. The only way you were going to save face here was to just straight-up own your bullshit and apologize, but you couldn't even do that. The fact that someone who arguably has it far, far worse than you is still largely supporting Joe Biden (or, at the very least, recognizes Trump as the massive threat he is) should tell you something. However, you've brought up Marx, so this is where I'm going to get into nuts and bolts.Tell me precisely what the problem is. Don't just say "Marx bad" and call that an argument. Can you cite the problems you have with Marxist ideology? For that matter, do you understand the difference between a Marxist and a democratic socialist?I think what you're going to find here - and in very little time at all, I might add - is that you don't know anything close to what you think you do.The dirty truth is this:America whole-heartedly embraced capitalism (at first using slaves to make white men rich, later using working-class slaves to make other white men richer). Human rights violations uncounted have been committed in other countries - some of which, but not all of which, have utilized other political ideologies - and at first, I can believe that America really was trying to do right by some of those countries. But as time went by, communism became a filthy word in America. A communist wasn't just someone who wanted to treat each according to his need, and have everyone give each according to their means. A communist was an anti-American radical who would do everything they could to kill, discredit and otherwise hamstring American democracy. This became more and more entrenched as time went by, to a great enough extent now that most Americans still have a manufactured and completely nonsensical hatred for any leftist ideals.Put bluntly, Americans (and Canadians too, to a large extent, I'll own that) are so in love with their golden calf that they can't bear to hear others criticize it. They're so enamoured of capitalism, which is beginning to fail spectacularly as most experts knew it eventually would, that they will rabidly attack anything that suggests, even gently and politely, that capitalist ideals hurt people while more left-wing socialist ideals, if properly utilized, do not. This is the moment where I want to pat you on the head, Accman, and tell you it's not your fault. Your corrupt country made you this way. But there's one problem with that. If I am to treat you as if you have a rudimentary mind of your onw, I must also accept that said mind is capable of changing if you wanted it to. You're not a brainwashed automaton. You're doing this willingly. In other words, you are deserving of everything you've gotten in this thread. That, and much worse, in my book, but it won't be given to you here on the forum.

96, if you understand the ideals of Marx than you will get what folks like us stand against. We have history to tell us where that failed. We would also stand against that which folks like Hitler promoted, and still do try to push nowadays as well. I personally stand by America's constitution, and many things that the leftists would seek to bring about in this country are totally against that. Many of the types of restrictions placed upon us during this so-called pandemic are also against our constitution. Our governor here in Pennsylvania violated that in at least three different ways, and has been called to account for it. That's what happens when one goes on a power trip like that.

If I was contemplating single player stuff, I'd just not bother with scripting and implement it all in rust.  I agree with that part.  it's just: what do you do about the weird one-offs?  ECS never seems to have a good answer to that.  I don't think you should ever write a lua system or something, you might as well not take the perf hit.  And yeah editors.  But if you give something to a builder and the builder needs something you don't want it to be "can you add a component that will be added to 1 entity which..." every. Single. Time. Then again I guess there's lots of muds that always just went with "bring x item to point y then kill z".  And I know a lot of World of Warcraft is that way.  But really I should just stop thinking "First I'll do Synthizer then I'll do physics thing then MMO happens" and answer these questions later, I guess.  6 months is practically an eternity in Rust game dev land anyway.

However, I responded to your earlier post the way I did because you personally attack me when you insinuated that I was failing my own daughter. that is something I take very personally, and you ought have known that this would be the case. I totally get that you need the government benefits, and yours is a situation which those were certainly meant to help out with, I get that. The benefits are, quite literally, the only income my family has right now because of this damned virus., so in some ways I get it. You can't expect though that someone is going to go from steady employment to no job at all and take it lightly. So, you'll pardon me if I am a little pissed off right now. We're also coming into a part of the year where I would have had a ton of shows, but thanks to paranoia I can't get that income. So, again, you understand why I am coming across the way I am. I don't blame anyone here, especially you, for it. however, I will not give up any more of my personal rights over this virus. I am sorry, but I've already sacrificed enough, and will go no further.Again, camlorn, I apologize for how I responded earlier. However, that's what you get wwhen you attack me personally and attempt to psycho-analyze me without considering that you might be crossing a line or two. I hope we understand each other now.

God points 60 and 61, this is what is keeping us from just saying screw it and allowing distribution - even though they probably don't have the resources to take anyone to court over it, the law is still the law. I think the thing we need to remember here that doesn't necessarily make us special, but is something to consider, is the fact that there are no publishing agencies here. There is only an individual entity. So is the company closing its doors necessarily by choice? Most likely not, but was it a choice to screw over customers who had actually bought the game by basically vanishing? Absolutely. By not implementing a contingency plan, they had, whether directly or otherwise, choose to slam the door on the ass of customers who had bought the game should the need to close operations arise.I'm tempted to just say let's just toss the damn games, but audiogames games are not disposable and these games weren't all that bad.

It's all well and good saying oh everyone sign up with your Google accounts but look at it from a developer's PoV, suddenly having a flood of people commenting on one issue, that may not get the reaction you want. I checked that issue out and...to be honest, you haven't exactly said, IMO, what this would offer /everyone/ not just blind people. Would it be good to have another game to play?Yes, not arguing that point. What I am arguing howeverisn't that you're wrong for making that post. You're wrong, I feel for coming on this forum and basically saying, flood the issue with comments, 99% of which I feel will just be yeah do this or yeah add this... without any actual feedback on just how it can be added in. Adding things like that in is not a simple snap your fingers and it's in job. It takes away time that those Xanotic people have for working on other, more pressing issues. Because believe it or not, making a game playable for the blind vs a game breaking bug? I'll take fixing the game breaking bug all day, every day. Because there's no point having a talking game that doesn't work, is there?

@93I mean, I try not to.  But maybe it'll do some good, if only in that it does at least mean that I know what it's like to just entirely be derailed.  My life actually went off the road like that in 2 months.  Went from college is great and life is looking great but there's some currently-minor background health issues to almost dropping out and dealing with all that stuff for years literally over the course of one summer.I only made it back out because luck, more than anything.  After like doctor 5 we found some stuff that kind of worked and I was able to hold on by my teeth to the rest of it.  Maybe I'm not making the point well, but like, in terms of the world just dropping a surprise anvil on me with no hope left--yeah.  Been there, done that.  In terms of there being some clock of doom or something--done that, too.  I don't actually spend most of my time going "well I've had it worse than them", in fact these days mostly I don't think about any of it at all, there's just no point.  It's in the past and in the future, but it's not in the now.  But I'm not willing to take that lying down, I'm really not, not when we've had tons and tons of "how do I get off benefits" threads that he's clearly ignoring.

Re: What do you think about the Corona virus conspiracy theories?

I will ask those who claim to be against leftist ideologies this question. Can you to find them? Could you tell me at least a little bit about the ideologies of the left and their histories? I hope the answer is yes, because if you can’t even understand what you are trying to oppose, your stance is invalid in my eyes. One should learn about the things they hate and a pose just as much as those which they believe in and support.

Re: What do you think about the Corona virus conspiracy theories?

@Simba: Agreed. This isn't the 50s any more with McCarthy accusing people of being 'Communists' then not providing proof. I swear I've asked this before, but...why are Americans so dead set against anything socialist? I mean, isn't having a welfare system, having, I dunno, support for disabled people, 'socialist' then? Note the air quotes. Its's hard to type whil doing that...but...I just don't get why Americn politicians are so deathly afraid of 'socialism' in any form.

Re: Any way to play the VIP gameszone games for free?

Just gonna chime in here and point to AlterIWNet, a COD alternative server, being cent a C  letter by a law firm on behalf of Activision. EA has, as Defender says, a history of pulling down servers without a care in the world. Even abandonware (which btw is a legal gray area, I can think up a handful of software companies who actually asked sites to take down their stuff) hasn't been ruled legal or illegal, but in the vast majority of cases is a cracked downnload anyow for DOS games, or a .iso file. There's whole communities dedicated to abandonware, but the thing people forget is someone, somewhere, owns the rights to the software. Even if the company went out of business, whoever signed the contract may still very well own the rights for that software, or people. So no, I'm agreeing with Defender on this one. Hell, I've been banned from other forums for asking for things I didn't even know were pirated content and didn't even gett a warning, just a straight up get out of our forum response.

And, I think that's all she wrote.Canlorn, thank you for doing that. Seriously. I normally don't like it when folks try to one-up each other, but I think in this case it was badly needed. It just makes me sad that you had to air that in public that way to actually establish your bonna fides, as it were.

Re: Might switch to Android

LG (even if they do not have the greatest track record on updates), also have special Talkback features exclusive to their devices. For example, the "triple-click-home" feature toggle remains )even though it's a virtual home button), along with the Two-Finger Hold on the "Power Off" screen, which also is a Talkback on/off toggle.Other phones recommended, are from Motorola, Nokia, and any phones part of the Android One Program. An honorable   mention, are phones from BLU Products, as I use to own one.
