Re: are their any manga readers for the blind? While I've never found an outright transcription of the manga, the Daizenshuu EX podcast had a "Manga Review of Awesomeness" from 2007-2012-ish, wherein they summarized a volume of the Kanzenban chapter by chapter and then reviewed it. There's also Mistare Fusion's DragonBall Dissection on Youtube, which does something similar, but in less detail and with more spoilers / meta / etc.The Daizex Archives are a bit tedious to dig through for specific episodes, but you can find them at Kanzenshuu.com, these days.Edit: actually, they made a whole page just for the MRoA: Manga Review of Awesomeness URL: https://forum.audiogames.net/post/616250/#p616250 -- Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Manamon 2: Magnus Archive Edition
Re: Manamon 2: Magnus Archive Edition To save you losing ten minutes of your life that you'll never get back by digging through my post history, I'll just say this much.I've beaten this game something like thirteen times now. Maybe more. I've done theme teams (based on types, based on characters from books). I've done challenge teams (i.e., use only a group of four for the whole game, or only using manamon that I know are especially bad). I've never done a nuzlocke, but only because I think that idea is ridiculous in a game as ultimately random as this one (all the random misses and OHKO stuff and bosses that do stupidly overpowered things sometimes makes a nuzlocke unappealing to me, even though it's doable). I've also just used my favourites, too. A short list of my favourites specifically from manamon 2, in no particular order: Sirenea, Mightauras, Volanteril, Fowlusion, Wavotamus, Lantlare, Sylphantom, Symphonid, Mantasteel, Angillish, Maustadon and Bamboustica. Obviously I can't use all of those on one team, and some are better than others (looking at you, Maustadon) but they appeal to me, so sometimes I'll stick one or two on a team for fun.Short answer: I don't have a standard playthrough team. I know what's good and what's not. I know the types that do best in the main game and I know how to absolutely crush virtually anything in the game. I was the dude who figured out that a Mightauras can damn near beat Pierre in the postgame all by itself, if you play carefully. Not saying I recommend the strat, but it works. Also, Fowlusion can pretty much wreck Hyper Tarboo, just as another example, since the only thing which will cause Fowlusion to take big damage is Audio Blast (immune to Earthquake, resists Storm Rush). Pity Hyper Tarboo doesn't also have Freeze Ray and/or Beyond Bolt and/or Dessicate Beam, or something like that, for better coverage. Would make the fight harder, that's for sure.Actually, the hardest thing about this playthrough I've launched is that four members of my team are already level 25, which means if they gain even a single level, they're going to become unruly and difficult to control when I face the second stadium. Microsoft Starts New Accessibility Program As reported by [polygon]:Microsoft has launched a program wherein developers can submit there games to be tested by those with disabilities and accessibility experts, and be given feedback. This program was announced along side their new [Accessibility Guidelines]. Per the article:“Developers now have the option to send Microsoft their Xbox or PC title and have it analyzed and validated against the recommendations provided in the XAGs,” says an Xbox blog post published todayA program like this could potentially lead to more games with a similarly wide variety of accessibility options. It’s also significant for players with disabilities to be able to provide insight, rather than being left unconsidered or designed for without their input. Re: Timers based on fps?
Re: Timers based on fps? That can depend on a number of things, for example if VSync is enabled tent the frame rate is typically locked to the refresh rate of the monitor, typically 60 fps. But the rate that a computer can refresh a scene can be several times greater than that, like upwards of 240 fps or more, or less depending on the process load.Generally speaking, its more efficient to have a single update loop timer, and use that to set the rate of the rest of the program. For example:import pyglet class Prototype(pyglet.window.Window): def __init__(self): super(Prototype, self).__init__(640, 480, resizable=False, fullscreen=False, caption="Test") self.clear() self.counter = 0 pyglet.clock.schedule_interval(self.update, .01) def update(self,dt): self.counter += dt if self.counter >= 0.13 and self.counter <= 0.15: print('0.2 seconds have passed') self.draw() elif self.counter >= 1.0: print('a second has passed') self.counter = 0 def draw(self): self.clear() if __name__ == '__main__': window = Prototype() pyglet.app.run()In this case, you can use the dt time value to set the refresh rate, decide when code is run, etc. without having to bother with many different timers. Just create a new variable that adds up from the main dt value. Ursinearator is meh. Squarpha is decent going on good, probably the best of the bunch, and that's not saying much.Fun fact: between Squarpha and Marlaunt, I will have Stifle and Restrain. Timers based on fps?
Timers based on fps? What would be an efficient way to create timers that update accordding to the frame rate? It makes sense that timers that update from system time wouldn't be that helful, so one would have to resort to implimenting their own timers that respect how quickly the game updates. Any thoughts? I'm assuming you have to be careful how you do this since timers would likely be used in many different places across a project. Re: your current favorite games I've been on a visual novel craze lately. My favorite ones are Katawa Shoujo, Moe Era, Doki Doki Literature Club! (and to an extent some of the hundreds of community mods that have come out in the last 3 years), YOU and ME and HER: A Love Story, and Everlasting Summer. You're probably asking yourself, "But I heard those are inaccessible. How are you able to play them?" The only reason I am able to play them is because I am low vision and thus have enough sight to read them.I'm also a fighting game fan, with my favorites being Street Fighter V, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and a few others that escape my memory at the moment. Re: I need a little help.
Re: I need a little help. "I go home and punch things" is a healthy enough way to handle stress. You shouldn't feel bad about that, long as you aren't punching people. There's no such thing as a thought crime.See about getting involved in things like muds, etc. I think 99% of us just ride out high school online or something. Bullying sucks but even if you get past that, it's hard to get past being different when you're talking about kids, who have yet to develop various social competencies like "we get together because we share an interest". If you haven't ever worked on things like not stimming, not putting your head on the desk, facing people to talk to them, etc. that will help you.It does get better later, though. Hit high school graduation and the world opens up. The rest of the world doesn't tolerate bullying and things like that nearly so much. "if you bully you can go to jail, then you have trouble getting housing and a job for the rest of your life" is very effective at shutting that down in adults, but in high school there's usually not a consequence for it that's meaningful. It is possible your parents understand more than you give them credit for. Being treated as helpless is unique to disabilities, but being bullied isn't. Between the ages of 10 to 20 or so, a certain type of person will form cliques and find a target. Not to say that older adults don't form cliques and find targets, but people tend to grow out of it. Be fat, gay, ugly, wear glasses, be afraid of bugs or snakes, the list goes on. Then add a dose of you randomly becoming the target as opposed to the person across the room who they could have focused on just as easily, and bullying results. I need a little help. Hey guys, was thinking about this for a long time, but I haven't really said anything about the subject. Just a quick side note before I get started, you might want to strap in tite, because this is going to be a ruf ride. Anyway, with that out of the way. I just wanted to get some help from yall. I tryed talking to my mom and dad about this but they don't really get it. As some of you know, I'm 14, just about to go into my first year of highschool. I have been having stress problums when it comes to school for a wile now, some times when I come home I'll punch my punching bag in my room because I'm so angry about evrything and stressed out. I go to a mainstream school, witch means there are mostly sited kids there. I get bullyed all the time because of my blindness, it gets to the point where when I punch my punching bag, I think about all the things that they say and my punching bag is there faces. I also don't get acknowledged, to the point where I don't feel like I exist,, for example. I say hi to someone, they don't listen. Or I am sitting next to someone, and I say what's your name? they would say something like, uh, or just say nothing. I also get treated like I can't do anything. I've tryed asking my mom for help, and she says, "Give them a chance". But how the fuck am I supposed to give someone a chance when they don't give me one! I'm so god damn done with this! Us blind people are just the fucking same as the rest of them why the hell can't they treat us like they want to be treated! Some times I just come home, sit on my computer and wright shit about how I just want to be fucking normel! And it's like noone cares! I want them to feel how I feel, just for a second! They should live a day in my shues, and then mabie, just mabie they will know how it feels! I hate to say it but some times I feel like hurting someone because of it. I just need someone who cares. Name of an NVDA add-on Escaped my Mind Hi guys,I distinctly remember reading about an NVDA add-on that attempted to make accessible web input boxes that NVDA would incorrectly read as blank. That would come in handy for the website I'm trying to use, but I've completely forgotten what the add-on was called, or where I read about it. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Re: are their any manga readers for the blind?
Re: are their any manga readers for the blind? Software, no. Comics, and by extension Manga, are very graphically oriented, text is also often integrated into the artwork in various ways which can make automated translation difficult. Having said that however, there may be a few ways you could still do it.One would be to use a service like Be My Eye's to have someone describe it, another would be to try hunting down [Scripts]. As mentioned in the article:... I realized that the creators of comic books have to follow an outline of some sort so that the artist, who works with the author, knew what to draw. These Comic Scripts often consist of pure text and offer complete descriptions, panels, colors, and dialog for the artists to work with. The links to the comic archive in the article don't really work, but I did dig up another comic book archive [here] that contains PDF's of various comic artists works that offer full descriptions. A few examples would include [Batman: Rules of Engagement #1], [Youngblood #2], and [Challenger Deep #1], among others. Its scattered but there are a few series in there. Paid Columbia Research Study: Navigating in Games Using Sound
Paid Columbia Research Study: Navigating in Games Using Sound Hi everyone! I am a PhD student at Columbia University doing research on making existing video games blind-accessible. We created several new tools to help people with visual impairments navigate video game worlds using sound, and we are looking for users to try them out and give us feedback about them. This is a paid study: it will last no longer than 2 hours, and participants will be given a $25 gift card for their time.Study participants will play several levels of a video game using a video game controller and a standard pair of headphones. You must have your own controller to participate. (Please read the FAQs below for specific prerequisites.)We will be conducting the study entirely online. We will send you a link to download the game, and we will use a phone call or audio chat session to converse while conducting the study. This study has been approved by the Columbia University Institutional Review Board (IRB Protocol Number IRB-AAAT5967).Sign-up by filling out the Google Form linked here.Feel free to ask any questions and I will be happy to respond. You may contact me directly (via a forum email or PM) through my profile for more information.FAQWill I be paid to participate in the study? We will give you a $25 Amazon.com gift card to pay you for your time. Are there any prerequisites to participating in this study? You must have a standard pair of headphones, a modern game controller, and a computer capable of running our video game. Here, “modern game controller” refers to any relatively-recent XInput- or DirectInput-compatible gamepad (for example, Xbox or PlayStation controllers). If you are not sure as to whether your controller will work, feel free to list it in the sign-up form, and we will get back to you if your controller is a suitable match.Your computer must be running Windows or MacOS. If your computer is running Windows, it must be running Windows 7 (SP1 or higher) or Windows 10. If your computer is running MacOS, it must be running MacOS High Sierra (10.13) or higher. Are there any risks? There are no physical risks related to participating in this research study. Are there benefits to taking part in the study? You will not receive personal (direct) benefit from taking part in this research study. However, the information collected from this research may help others in the future. We hope to make navigation in video games and in the real world much easier and more effective. What information will be collected? We'll ask you to complete surveys before, during, and after you play the video game. We will also collect some of your player movement data as you play the video game. We will not collect any other information. How will my information be protected? All information that we collect will be stored securely. The name and email address you provide will be kept confidential. Slay the Spire multiplayer mods! Edit:here is a very easy way to connect with spire together, thanks @sanslash332!A small sidenote of togeter in spire. The players that will play as a client, instead to fight with OCR on the mods menu, they can setup the host address in a external file.Simply go to the say the spire folder / multiplayer, and on it check if exist an ipconfig.sttxt file. If doesn't simple create it (is a plain text file with a other extension) and write on it the ip of the host, and the port in this format:"ip:port"(without the quotes)next, save the file, open the game and voila. You can join the host.Hi guys! Yesterday I was browsing through steam, And found two mods for slay the spire, whych Makes the game multiplayer! Yes!The first one is Together In Spire, witch enables coop realtime combat multiplayer. You need to host and the client need to go to the mods menu, then press in the mods name, then press into config and the host needs to pass the IP to the clients. The unfortunate thing is, sadly the mods menu isn't accesible with say the spire, so you have to mess a round with OCR, but is doable. An other thing if yo will play that, keep in mind you and your friends have to choose the same pat if you want to see each other. of course you can go into different paths and only fight together in the boss, but in my opinion, the funny part is play every floor with your friends. The second mod isSpire with friends, whych sadly doesn't have real time combat, the only thing you have is a pseudo coop mode, because you share you hp and gold with your friends, and i doesn't require ports to be open, the host only creates a lobi and the clients join. Sadly the loby is'nt not accesible with say the spire too, but is doable with OCR. So, I hope all o you enjoy these mods, personally for me they have give more fun to this awesome game and I will play it more and more. And best of all, these two mods are getting updates constantly, so you can suggest things to the creatorsEnjoy! Re: Accessible comparison software?
Re: Accessible comparison software? Hi,WinMerge is accessible, afaik. Here's some info I have about it. Haven't done this in a long time, let me know if it doesn't work and I'll have a look:Mike, You can configure Visual Studio to use a different difference engine. You do this through Tools/Options. I just don’t remember which section right now.Mine is configured to use WinMerge, which I find quite accessible. I use my screen readers ability to indicate color to know the beginning and end of each change. I use F9 to toggle between a list of changes only and all lines of code. So I change to F9 and move to the beginning of a specific change. Then press F9 again to come back to all lines mode and then arrow down to see where the change ends, by checking the forecolor and backcolor of each line as I arrow down.Good luck URL: https://forum.audiogames.net/post/616187/#p616187 -- Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Questions about C# @23, I didn't say that. You can use a GUI library for games; Entombed does it perfectly fine and it does work. Its just not the best way because a non-immediate-mode GUI library wasn't intended for games. But you can certainly use them that way. Its just really, really hard to do and certainly not something I'd recommend. As you said, if your making a game, prefer SFML/SDL2/GLFW over a GUI library. Re: Questions about C#
Re: Questions about C# @21, your thinking in a more BGT-ish way of doing things. You need to get out of that mindset -- its not going to help you here.Windows forms (and every other kind of UI library) rely on events to convey information to you. There is no central "key_pressed" function because that's not how a UI actually works. Even game frameworks like SDL2 and SFML do not function this way. I've no doubt that its safe to say that BGT has taught you the entirely wrong way of doing things. Which is why I keep emphasizing that we need to get rid of duplicating BGT idioms in other languages -- it breaks the underlying model of game design. A game fundamentally works off of events, not off of you constantly polling the system. Same for UIs and pretty much everything else. Asynchronous programming -- which is what this is -- is far better than endlessly polling the system for information. SDL2 and such may handle this asynchronous stuff for you so you can poll them as usual, but underneath this is what they're doing. In Winforms and such, though, you don't have SDL2/SFML to make your life all easy-peacy. And you shouldn't have them. Winforms and such is how GUI design works. To handle keyboard events in windows forms, create a function to handle all keyboard events:private void Form_KeyDown(Object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { // Handle key down events here switch (e.KeyCode) { case Keys.A: // Handle... break; // ... } }You will also want to define keyboard events for key presses (the KeyPress event), key releases (the KeyUp event) and, optionally, the PreviewKeyDown/PreviewKeyUp events.
To handle keyboard events in windows forms, create a function to handle all keyboard events:private void Form_KeyDown(Object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { // Handle key down events here switch (e.KeyCode) { case Keys.A: // Handle... break; // ... } }You will also want to define keyboard events for key presses (the KeyPress event), key releases (the KeyUp event) and, optionally, the KeyUp event.
