Re: Dentin, can we talk about this? Im pretty sure most of us realize Charisma would affect mob aggression sooner or later. its not something we overlook. In fact, charisma limited uses in stuff not related to the main grind of combat is why it was mostly overlooked. Besides not getting hit, charisma didnt do much once something decided to punch your face in. And to avoid combat, high level thieves also have the option of sneak and stealthy, which are far more effective than leaving it up if the mob respects charisma or not. (Which I find not be true in some cases...ow) Eh but Im just rambling. I still think charisma is as useless in the main grind of the game as before, now it just forces us to grind it to be able to cast some of our cleric stuff and made being a cleric a lot more unappealing with having to grind a stat that has no obvious benefit from letting you cast the spells you need to cast. Re: Dentin, can we talk about this? @Wyvern, Im afraid I do slightly agree, it is a bit of a pest that I now need to level charisma just to get the spells back I previously got with int, but without the bennifit of more mana.maybe however more bennifits could be added to charisma in the future, especially if more types of npc interaction and jobs come into the game, eg, more charismatic charcters get more reward for jobs or greater selections, or maybe more charismatic characters could have the practice cost to learn reduced when practicing with a master, (now that would be a major! plus for the stat). I have put a couple of points into charisma for that reason, but compared to more hp, hitting harder, dodging more blows, or more effective spells and mana, being attacked less offen just didnt seem to matter as much, particularly sinse upto the clerric requirement shift, it seemed that those spells like chalm which used charisma werent so effective. The funny thing about charisma is that most people thought it was useless and simply thought it was normal that pretty much everything they encountered would attack automatically. High level thieves with high charisma can often walk through an entire area with nary a scratch. Its just not obvious enough for people to think its worthwhile. Re: Dentin, can we talk about this? @Cooltirk, I will admit Im not too fussed on the class system either sinse I dont like being locked out of possible options for my character, eg, having a warrior who cannot use magic, indeed that is why I tend in games to be a player of paladins or clerrics, sinse I like the ability to go into a battle and smack things, and be able to take punishment, but want more interesting options at my command such as healing, bufs, curses etc to deal with different situations when they come up. I will say though in Alter the class system is very handy, sinse you get to pretty much be everything, just with different priorities. The blank class option is available at character creation before you hit level 2 I believe. You can enter the game and wander around without an official class just to get the feel of things, and then choose whichever first class you want, though as I said, I think you have a limited time with a new char in which to do this.As to stat sw apping, I dont know, sinse unfortunately I have a lot of handy necro skills as well as my cerric ones that require int, Ill need to see what happens and probably invest some credits into both practices and spells. one question though. If clerrics no longer need int, what happens to their pool of available mana? Its probably a better idea just to train chr if your chr is below like 17, or you will be locked out of tons of useful mage and necro abilities and your mana and mana regen will go to the dogs. Well it appears my old character was deleted cause it was too low, so I recreated it and am already a level 7 or 8 warrior, and mage at level 1.I had to turn off some of the channels, mainly the gossip, because it was distracting me in the middle of fights.Well see if I stick with it this time. The statswap thing lets you swap any two stats, not just int and chr. To delete a waypoint from the list, simply type waypoint delete number, and to swap the location of the waypoints with each other, say, swappin waypoint 1 and 3, you could type waypoint reorder the first waypoint you want to swap the waypoint you want it swapped with. You can find it on the site, or type getting started into the help system and youll be able to read the newbie guide, indeed the Alteraeon help is extremely good and Id highly recommend it, you can access it online on the alteraeon site or anywhere in the game. MushZ is a bit complex, but has its own readme with a section on the keys, commands and triggers that gives a good idea, however you dont need any of this to play the game, MushZ will work just as well out of the box. Myself, I created a character just out of curiosity to test things out, didnt look at any of the MushZ information and was quite able to play just with the standard commands of Alter, it wasnt until later that I looked into more functions of MushZ to make my playing easier. If you want to just test the game out without any commitments, rea the help system online or just spend time wandering ar ound and getting used to things, you can even create a blank character and notchoose any of their classes. One of the great things about Alteraeon is that anything is reversable if you put the time in. For example, I began as a Cleric warrior thief, but then after choosing necro as my fourth class decided I liked necro more than thief so by levelling necro and not levelling thief was able to swtich them around (it took a few more xp without levels but it worked out fine). One thing I actually need to do is I here that the cleric intelligence/charisma requirements have been swapped but that there is an option to change your characters stats, so I probably need to look into how to do that, sinse right now Thelok is much like me and is much cleverer than he is pretty . Anyways, you can swap the stats with 250 creds, like I mentioned in my previous post. Well I dont know what I should swap though, my chars str, dex and con are almost as close together and Im not gunna swap over int with chr cause Im a mage and requires me to be a genius to cast spells... and I have 0 pracs so there you go... Need to be more pretty next time I suppose, once I got the time to train many many pracs and train my pretty-ness . (Oh Dentin, please resurrect the corpse of someone! I havent played for a couple of years, with me not being very good at muds.Just going by your post, you sound like a petulant child chucking a tantrum when not getting your own way.I havent played for years so I dont know what things are like, I usually did my own thing anyway.Before playing I studdied the documentation extensively before even creating my character.I did this so I wouldnt have to ask pointless questions, questions that could easily be answered by reading the documentation, and I dont know what the documentation is like now, but they were helpfull back then.I think what got me playing was the excellent soundpack that was available at the time.One of these days, I might see if my character still exists, its been so long its probably been deleted.I just need to find me a good mud client thats easy to use.I use to like gMud, but not only is it ancient, it also wouldnt wor k with NVDA because NVDA doesnt have an option to set the screen echo to all. Of course if the thing is hard to answer - for example - how much mana is restored back by life tapping 25 hp - and which is obviously not in the help page will obviously be answered since its logical of us to ask. Also, forgive me for telling them what youve actually said, but asking for a clan that lets you build in it is just not correct behaviour. I agree that other players might be too rude to you but think of it logically: will the clan elders let a first rank initiate (aka a very new member) go into the clan area and build around and all that? Of cou rse if you buy a private room or whatever youll be able to build in it but thats that. Also, literarily asking a member to help you to enrol into a clan is just weird. Go ask the elders if you want to join, and if the elder denies, try another clan. You might even decide to be clanless but thats besides th epoint now.Also, asking people to unban you from channels is just not right. I mean, if youre banned of course there are reasons, especially for some channels with players as owners. I dont know about chat or gossip since theyre owned by Dentin, though. There might be players who ban you for no apparent reasons, and if that happened, try to talk to them properly and ask them the reason they ban you, dont go to spam them or trash them.Well this post is getting long. MushZ is your best option, it outputs to Nvda I believe (htough you can also use Sapi as I do), and it virtually turns Alter into an audiogame, indeed playing it isnt so much like playing a mud as playing a full scale rpg with background sounds and music as well as the extremely good text descriptions and game mechanics. Regarding soloing, hay, Im a pretty solo type myself. I dont mind passing the time of day or dropping someone a heal spell, but grouping and clans just arent my thing, I prefer to explore on my own, but in alter that is fine just as long as you use the areas& quot; and where command to make sure you dont run into something higher level than you can handle.I admit Ive not played alter for a while, but thats more due to being destracted with other things than anything else, indeed in the recent updates list I notice a jobs system, and sinse that is one of the things I really wanted in the game Im very inclined to give Thelok another outing myself. As I said in that topic, the Alteraeon mods are a very reasonable bunch and dont just bully people as you put it, so obviously your doing something wrong, indeed spamming the creator of the game with mails sounds pretty wrong to me. @cooltirk, I agree with Kenzon. MushZ is your best option, it outputs to Nvda I believe (htough you can also use Sapi as I do), and it virtually turns Alter into an audiogame, indeed playing it isnt so much like playing a mud as playing a full scale rpg with background sounds and music as well as the extremely good text descriptions and game mechanics. Regarding soloing, hay, Im a pretty solo type myself. I dont mind passing the time of day or dropping someone a heal spell, but grouping and clans just arent my thing, I prefer to explore on my own, but in alter that is fine just as long as you use the areas& quot; and where command to make sure you dont run into something higher level than you can handle.I admit Ive not played alter for a while, but thats more due to being destracted with other things than anything else, indeed in the recent updates list I notice a jobs system, and sinse that is one of the things I really wanted in the game Im very inclined to get reacquainted with Thelok, well if I dont get too destracted playing swamp, . In life, most of the time you only have 1 shot to get things right. Second chances arent a right, and usually they just never happen even if people pretend they do. You can never truly undo damage that you cause in a situation, because people remember. That is how human brains work.If you start working at some new job and you treat everyone like crap, thats it. Youve done something permanent even if you later decide to be kind. Some people will give you a second chance and try to befriend you, but many wont. Even those who befriend you will always remember how you were in the past, and theyll drop you that much faster if you ever slip up again. Anyone who goes through life begging for second chances all of t he time clearly has some problems, because that shows that they screw everything up. This is not everyone elses problem.If they give you a second chance you might change right? Well sure, but that can be said about anything. You should walk 10 miles south of your house right now, because if you do, there might be something cool that makes the walk worth it. Am I wrong? Nope. There is definitely a chance that youll encounter something that makes the 20 mile trip (there and back) worth it, but I doubt youre putting your shoes on right now. Just like there is a chance it will be worth it, theres also a pretty good chance that it wont be worth it, and youve just spent time and effort walking around for nothing. The same is true about people just giving you your way. There is a chance youve changed, but youve proven there is a greater chance that theyll have the same sort of problems with you. Why should anyone put forth extra effort just to Probably end up with the same crap? It doesnt make any sense.In life if you want things to go a certain way, get it right the first frikin time. People make mistakes, but if you make a mistake you have to realize that you made one, and that comes with consequences. If the consequences for your past actions mean you can never again play this game the way you would like, then you have to just accept that it is your own doing and stop trying to blame it on others. Well, dentin, id like to say, that what is not important to you may be important to others, so you should reply to the mudmails. Now on to more important things...Ok. Dentin, You have kept me disconnected from the chat channels for as long as i can remember on alter aeon, but why! Why wont you let me on them! And you also spammed me again? Why, did you do that!
