Just because 3 games dead, It doesn't mean the 4th one is going to end up like the rest, And I'm afraid of the lack of the motivation for that developer whose going to develop that 4th game. Although it's worth mentioning that at least 2 games out of those 3 games discontinued for a good and right reason. Redspot and firefight were both going out of bgt's bounds so it was better for both of them to be taken down, later to be replaced by other good replacements.I'm sure if those games would be continued, The big lag time and bad performance would piss everyone off. i'm sure of it. Didn't say these to just defend too already dead games. It was just to mention that the next online 3d fps game that actually worth playing is very likely to be an exception. If the dev of it is a good one, He/she of course had all those three games as a lesson. If otherwise, then it's the game that doesn't worth playing and of course all of us can avoid it, no harm done. If I dislike such games for the reasons stated, and if there are 10 others who like them, who cares about my post? The game will be made anyways. However, if our developers came to the point where as soon as they hear some negativity they will go away, then so be it. If he makes a great FPS, posts about it and says it's out, I certainly will just ignore it since it's not my tipe of game. However, this is a topic specifically asking what tipe of games he should work on, and if the majority dislikes one tipe I don't see why a developer should stop because of that. Nobody told him hey your coding skills suck, just stop developing. People expressed possible concerns with that genre, and in fact he should think about that before starting something like this. Better stop now then finish a game and be unprepared to deal with the drama. If the game comes out and it's the next big thing, people will congratulate, I don't see why not. So no, nobody is being over critical because there is nothing to criticize. Those are just opinions. Base it on the majority, who does seem to like such online games since they are popular, so who's stopping him I don't know. Not because that genre sucks, it has a great potential. The problem is that either somebody just codes a game where you kill people and that's it which gets boring real quick, or they make it terribly unbalanced. Not to mention how much drama in general it causes in the end, so most good players just end up staying away from it. No, don't say that rtr still works. That's only relevant as long as it has players, which, after trying all of the listed servers multiple times, I can say with confidence that it does not. Regarding it's similarity to other games, that has indeed been something I've been working on. The problem right now is that so much has already been done, so thinking out of the box with games sutch as these can be a difficult thing to do. It's still a work in progress though. I'll avenchually start working on more life sim elaments since that's kind of what I wanted the game to be when I started working on it, but like a lot of things I ended up getting distracted by other things so the game pretty much developed into more of a basic fps.To address Omers comment on the sounds, yes at present the game is using a lot of tempuary sounds. I like to worry about decent sound design once the game is ready for release, thus the current rather generic ones. The same is true of huntation, although thanks to omer we do have some better egg sounds which I have yet to merge into beta.I'm also interested in your opinions on huntation, since if it does get released it will most likely be a paid launch, was always planned to be. Ideas on the pricing structure, additional features and rennivations to current ones, etc are all apreciated. I'd be interested to know what you guys think about what I have done thus far and what you really want me to start investing time and money into.First of all, minefield. This was the first game I ever made, and thanks to ulterations by brandon cruz aka audiogame the game ended up going in a direction which I personally didn't like. Minefield rewrite was my attempt to rectify this, but thanks to life and other things, not to mention motivation issues, it never was completed, though thanks to ivan we did manage to get it to run under mac OS.The second one I'd like to talk about is also the one that has probably sparked the most contriversy, huntation. This is probably the game I see the most potential in, but also the one I have the least motivation for. I'd love to know your ideas for that game as well as where you'd like me to go with it.Lastly is bloodbath. For those of you who didn't listen to the stream I probably won't spoil what this game is about, but those of you who herd it will know what I'm talking about. I do also have plans to continue this, and my current planned release date is christmas day, though note that this may be subject to change.Thanks for your time,Charlie.
