Re: Things that go bump in the night

A couple of things about the app: it disables all sound when you press activate, so you lose voiceover. The only way I found to get sound back on was to turn off the phone, but you have to guess when it's asking you to double tap because there's no sound. Other than that, make sure the alarm is set to on, then when you press activate, it'll ask you to set the time for the alarm. When the alarm goes off the recording will end immediately and you'll have sound back. The tabs along the bottom aren't labelled, but they are: activate, history, stats, top list, and settings. History is where you go to playback the files, stats don't seem to make much sense to me, and top list is where users post their clips. In the history screen, there are twelve numbered graphics that don't seem to serve any purpose, they're not your recordings. There's a number just above the play controls. This tells you which file is currently playing. Use the Rw and FF buttons to skip to next and prior clips. Finally, if anyone can work out how to delete files please tell me. And if anyone gets any interesting recordings and want to share them, please post.

Re: Things that go bump in the night

Some times air vents and wall gaps let noises carry much further than they normally would, and also tend to change the signature of the sound by amplifying it oddly. It could even be carried from street level. They aren't always obvious either... Some of them are inside walls with no easy access, especially if your hallways have HVAC.

Re: Things that go bump in the night

the app is fun. There are some funny clips that users submit. Have no idea what caused the banging noises. Don't think it was windy, and if anything made noises like that, I'd sort it out because it would bug me. It just must have come from upstairs. It just seems a funny time for someone to turn up and start banging around in the middle of the night. The people who live there aren't back yet.

Re: Things that go bump in the night

That is creepy! But two questions, based on my personal experience. Is it possible that any animals live in or around the apartment? I have squirrels, and they can make noises that cause you to think giant creatures are at hand.Second, is there anything outside the apartment that the wind could cause to make that sound? It does sound like it's in your apartment, so I'm just trying to think of explanations that might make sense.PS - Thanks for sharing the audio. I didn't know about that audio network til now.
