Re: accessible PSP Games? recently discovered another RPG that is quite playable, the tytle is shining blade.this one is a strategy RPG, with a battle system similar to games like sakura wars or valkyria chronicles. basically, it's a turn-based tactical RPG but you move your character in realtime. after you move a character, you press X to select an action, then if you are in range of a target, you'll hear a sound indicating that you are in a target's range and you can either press X multiple times or you can press triangle then X to initiate the action, such as attacking an enemy with weapons or magic, healing allies, using defensive barriers ETC.if 1 or more party member is in a target's range, you'll hear some kind of a charging sound and you have to quickly press one of the 4 arrow keys then press X. if you do it successfully, you'll do a link attack with another character that are in range.there are also some town exploration part in the game, but you basically only visit 1 town in each chapter and all the points of interest that you can interact are basically in the same location so you can memorize each of them.in certain situations, you have to make a choice. when it's your time to choose something in a dialog, you'll hear a countdown timer, then you have to press up or down to select which dialog that you want to choose and press X to confirm. if you choose the right dialog option, your relationship level will go up.this game is only released in japan, so for those who want to enjoy the story even more you can try to play it with retroarch's AI service to translate the story text from japanese to english. most of the scenes are fully voiced, but some are not. and strangely, since this is a japanese exclusive game, usually the circle button is used to confirm and the X button to cancel. however in this game, it uses a western style layout, which means X to confirm or in gameplay is your primary action button, and circle to cancel.if you guys are interested with this kind of game, I recommend you to check this one out. I defeated all the enemies, then I got a tutorial on savepoints. at that part before I can advance the story, it seams to me that you have to do some platforming, which to me sounds quite impossible. I try to jump to a platform, but I fall off when I walk to the right. does anyone managed to pass this part? also, does the first bleach soul carnival game has platforming elements? Re: accessible PSP Games? for megamind, the movement is topdown, meaning you can move either forward, backward, left and right. to activate switches, you have to press the triangle button if you are in front of it. basically you have to walk around while pressing the triangle button to see if there are any interactables around. also sometimes the blaster can be useful, because you'll hear an impact sound if you are facing a direction and there is a wall in it. however, your blaster have a limited ammo so the only way is to memmorize which way to go. sometimes, when you are going in the right direction, you'll hear some little beeps, which means you've collected items that is used to learn new abilities, but I haven't got in to a part where I can do so.as for the audio, unlike the PS3 / X360 / Wii, when in game play it has less voice acting besides enemy grunts or if you did something like when you are jumping like crazy.in the PS3 / X360 /WII version, basically minion will tell you what to do, for example you have to disable 3 generators to advance, or at the very beginning of the game, you'll be told about things like how to use the blaster and other things.other than that, the cutscenes are basically just the same like in other versions of the game. Re: accessible PSP Games? hi all.bringing back the topic, I have an interesting game that might be playable. the game is called megamind the blue defender, which is basically a port of megamind: ultimate showdown for PS3 and X360. in this game, basically you run around, killing enemies which is also known as the destruction worker and the doom syndicate while saving the city from them. you can kill enemies either using melee combat or you can use blasters which has long range but limited ammo, but you can collect more by picking up items that are sometimes lying on the ground or you can smash crates dropped by enemies. when you get hit, you'll drop all your collected chips, which is similar like if sonic looses it's rings. however, unlike in sonic, you can be hit multiple times before your character dies and respawns at a checkpoint.to me the game is quite playable, though sometimes areas are quite tricky to navigate, cause you have to do some little platforming, or sometimes you have to search and activate switches in order to advance to the next area. There's a zip file you can download with their standard PPSSPP version, with a 100% completed Dissidia DuoDecim save file, meaning we get all maxed out characters without having to go through story mode, and a file with directions. You can change that in PPSSPP's INI file, I think I've written about that, somewhere… before starting the game for the first time, and it'll have that already filled in. That might work with other games that use the cross media bar's keyboard.As a side note, I tried to go back and play mk unchained and just wasnt feeling it anymore, so I just watched all the character endings and all the videos I unlocked, then listened to the soundtrack. Gotta say that I do like the ost for that game, since it features a few tracks from mk 1 and 2, and even most of the newer tracks were great and full of energy that made you want to kick some arse. I just feel like music in mk became lesser in quality after mk9, since even that soundtrack remixed a lot from the original trilogy. Speaking of which, those are still much easier to get into, and you can find them on midway arcade treasures extended play for psp. Re: accessible PSP Games? So I finally got around to playing a bit of gungnir, and here are my impressions. I really think that the game might be doable. Importantly, the grid doesnt wrap, and you can cancel a move with circle like ygdra union. You can also use the shoulder buttons to move between units. There is a specific sound for when tutorial messages come up, and you can press right or cross to change to the next page, or left to go back. Honestly the hardest part might just be knowing which way your opponent is facing. That's kinda important since attacking from behind offers a critical strike. O and there are hights in the game, so your character cannot jump down a hight taller than your character without taking damage. Those might be hard to find as well.After finishing the first mission, I was taken back to the base with some dialog before and after, then I was allowed to shop and customize equipment using a menu. The main menu wraps, but you can use triangle to take you back to the top. This is where I stopped, so thus far, my options in order are to proceed to the next battle, customize, and shop. Pressing start will pause the game, and pressing circle will take you to the system menu where you can save, load, access game config, exit, and close the menu in that order. So yeah, gungnir might be doable with patience. Give it a try if you're feeling adventurous and report back if you decide To. I will certainly write a follow up impression when I continue. Re: accessible PSP Games? @kenshira, at the first section where you have to take a book, you have to walk all the way to the right and press the D-pad down to pick up an item. you'll ear a sound if you pick something up. go left while pressing the circle button to interact, then if a menu comes up, press right and circle to go in to the first book.you'll get some text and a little battle, just keep pressing the circle button to attack. once that's done, you are in another area, but you still won't hear any footsteps after a scene. walk to the right, but you also have to press up on the D-pad to check if there are any buildings to enter. once you are in the next area, go right and do the same thing. once that's done, you are now at the castle. go right, while at the same time pressing the up button on the D-pad and the circle button to talk to everyone.if you enter a building, you'll automatically be thrown in to a tutorial buttle. hear you have to practice swinging your sword and trying various attacks that you can do. once you've defeated the enemy, there is another cutscene and now you have to talk to the two sisters in the castle. Re: accessible PSP Games? So I had some time to throw gungnir onto my psp, and here are my initial impressions. There is no voice acting, so being an rpg, you are going to have to ocr, a lot. From the first few minutes I spent with the game I found no free roaming sections, however you are still going to deal with a grid that doesn't wrap. And that's about as far as I been able to figure out. Ocr doesn't work on my PC with ppsspp which is where I played it but with it being on my psp now it should be less of a hassle to get to away from my pc, so look forward to updates unless you want to try your hand at it, in which case more info is welcome.I did try princess crown and couldn't get beyond the first area eith the cat. Reminds me of the start of odinsphere. Would be vreatful for tips on that dection. When you choose a position on the map, you will fight soldiers on that portion of the map in a top-down perspective. To retreat, you just run to the boundary and that will bring you back out to the grid screen. You need to do unchain tutorial first then go to the town of lantanaI start to think that game may not be playable after all. If only dialogues could be read with ocr and quests could be done. Re: accessible PSP Games? will do as soon as I can. look back sometime tomorrow. lucky for us, they don't rap. new game is second option down, I think. when starting, you get difficulty followed by side selection, pretty easy to figure out. then you have your six characters left to right for the good guys are:Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, Sam and Frodo. press X twice to start the mission.As much as you might want to, don't start with the evil side, it's a lot harder, though a lot of fun.there is a guide on gamefaqs with shop listings, and I believe they are accurate in the order of items and skills. will have to check that though to be sure. one thing which is confusing when buying skills in the different tabs, circle is your select button. x takes you to the map mission screen.
