Having access to the game itself, I'm having fun when my brothers and I play around non-seriously or try out some fun stuff.  Also when we get people over to try out 8 person fights where everything is mostly just chaos.  However, high level play is a pain in the rear to do against serious people, and there's so much we can't even do without seeing percentages to now when certain combos won't work anymore (people can get hurt enough to be juggled out of a combo and you'll get punished for wiffing it), and the aerial combat bit.  Also it seems Ultimate has issues with certain characters making it hard to fight back if you screw up.  Surprisingly, one top tier character that no one initially expected was Crom due to his horrible recovery.  Despite this, he has a forward air combo that can kill you from 0% and drag you across the arena to get knocked out.  Fighting a Crom is just avoiding getting caught in that, and as it's an aerial attack that can come from anywhere...hard to guard against.      ...Though I want you all to take on my Yoshi.  My brother and I practiced a 0 to 92% combo with the green dino if you get knocked upwards...fight me!    Creapily enough, the lv 9 Ai for Yoshi has started using it as well so... uh... it's learning?  It originally was a 0 to 68% combo before we realized we can link a down air to the end of it.    ...Though seriously, should I drench my switch in holy water with the learning AI copying our bullshit combos?

30 makes a point, I really don't like the match making system nintendo uses, i'd prefer to choose someone who has as similar as possible rules to me, and it could like flip a coin, or roll a die dependent on the number of players, to see whitch ruleset it uses.I did say I'm decent at the game, I ment as a blind person, I"m still ok, but definitely wouldn't stand a chanse in a decent sized tournament. And I've almost never gotten a footstool on purpose, and even wen I did, I couldn't punnish it.  One thing I do wish was easier is jablocks, I guess it's about them misteching, but it's also kind of hard to judge wen the right percent would be to do it, and for blind people, we can't see exactly where some kind of platform or wall to tech off of might be, and how moves launch you, so it makes it more guess based wen trying to jablock people

I did actually get myself a switch, but I waited until there were quite a few games I wanted. I don't buy a system just for one game, only acception being buying a 3ds for pokemon a couple years before it was released, but even then there were games I knew I would enjoy there. I do agree that if smash is your only interest on the switch, it's probably not worth the cost of the system. However, there are some neat games there, like pokemon let's go, pokken tournament, diablo 3, and one two switch just to name a few.

At 30:  Only reason I can list the above is because I have ownership over the game due to my brother's wanting it.  I did say for people who don't do what you said don't do can have fun with it as this is a game where you play with nintendo characters to knock each other off the screen.  I was mostly just listing stuff that make the game hard for what is a $360 purchase for many people without a switch (no one promotes this console over the PS4 and Xbox1).  Though it's a simpler fighting game within the mainstream, for us it is harder due to the wider range of mobility and hazards on non-competitive maps.  There's a lot more possibilities for a person jumping compared to mortal kombat where the plain of battle is completely flat across.    What i"m actually against and why I sort of went off is people describing this thing with the word accessible rather than playable.  It just has some random qwerks that make it navigable for the menu, but there's nothing aiding us to navigate the actual battle itself.  It's playability is even in question, especially for those seeking for something to play competitively as that is a crowd in this forum that are interested in fighting games.  The fun scene is great if you don't mind turning everything into a slapstick comedy (this is fun don't get me wrong).  But if you picked up the game to play competitively...getting a match 1 v1 with no items or hazards is hard, and lots of high competitive maneuvering requires sight along with timing to not fall off the stage trying to knock someone down since they moved right as you committed to the jump off the stage.  Not everyone here has a switch, and spending $300 on a switch and $60 for a game that might just be too annoying over the fun factor might leave people with $360 they could of put somewhere else.  Probably the best thing to do is to maybe try to find someone who has the game to try it out first, or a demo and see how that goes.

@28, it might just be cause i'm good at the game, but the only issue i could see me having is world of light, and I probably wouldn't play that at all. I've practiced on smash4 with almost every stage, I know the game intimately, and I've actually gotten quite a few spikes on purpose, it's all about knowing the game, knowing the characters, and knowing the stage. And reflexes, and most importantly, being a quick thinker.

So, there's a lot of things going against this game that make it difficult to enjoy as a blind player.     1.  Combat rules selection for online is random between who has joined.  You can go and try to have a match with flat versions of the field and no items, but if someone wants to do team battle with items on normal fields, the game will pick that and if you haven't practiced with hazards up  good luck.      2.   Right, a lot of tactics in this game involve visual queues to get right, especially on getting back to the ledg, or spiking/footstooling your opponent off the stage.  Not every character makes noise when they jump, nor indicate where in the air they are at.  And a lot of characters, as many people have demonstrated, have a strong aerial game to silently approach you with after the initial jump sound.  With the mobility of the fighters, you can't tell if they're jumping towards you, above you, to another platform, or away from you until it's too late.    3.  You have no control on the modifiers for world of light.  You'll either fight in hazardless or hazard stages, along with special modifiers on the field that you might not hear, like poisoned ground.  Also if you're playing some legendary spirit nodes, those fights are just overpowered where sighted players have difficulty.  Currently my brothers are faling to clear one of the 4 star spirit fights against Mario, Bowser, Kirby, Peach and Shiek.  That Mario is unusually powerful and at a high difficulty while everyone runs distraction.   Other fights are equally annoying and put you at a heavy disadvantage.      4.   Also another tactic of some characters are placing traps on the field one can see, but make no sound.  Prepare for the AI and other players to take advantage of you stumbling into mines like an idiot over and over.    5.  Unlike Injustice, you don't get much of a sound queue for a lot of items that appear on the field.  Players and Ai will make a b-line for something you didn't know was there... or you falcon punch an 8 bomb for maximum laughs.     IN short... really, you're spending nearly $360 for the least accessible fighting game out there?  I generally don't question people's purchase choices as it is their money, but it's hard to play at a high level without mastering a lot of mechanics that you have to see to pull off without trying to footstool a target who isn't there and falling to your death.  Or spike an air-dodged target and flub the hit.  It's fine if you're playing it local with friends and against the AI, but the inability to keep matches to a single ruleset makes online a chore.

So I've had Smash Ultimate for about a day now, and I am impressed at the accessibility in this game.First off, the menus don't wrap. I repeat, the menus don't wrap. This makes our lives so much easier, and creating a menu guide becomes so much less of a hassle.Due to the UI changes within Ultimate, and since the Rules and Stages screens are before the character selection screen, in theory it will be easier to change rulesets. I haven't got around to doing that, but I will soon.One weird issue I've run into is on the character select screen. For whatever reason, tapping the stick once to the right will not move your cursor. The way around this I have found is to turn down the music so you can hear an audible sound that indicates if you have moved a character over.Now onto the gameplay. I don't know what they did, but I tend to survive much longer and not self-destruct quite as much as in prior games. I assume it has something to do with stereo separation, but I could be wrong. i have not yet touched the Spirits mode (that's gonna be a long and interesting try) but I would seriously recommend this game to anyone who has a Switch and wants a good fighting game to play.

I'm picking up the game and a Switch on launch, so I may create a menu guide if there's enough incentive. Also, this is likely to be the most accessible Smash yet, because you can remove hazards from stages and just make them a flat surface. I personally don't think the story mode will be accessible, because in Brawl, there were a bunch of platforms and all that. I'm probably going to complete it, but I probably have to play co-op with my girlfriend.

if there's a headphone jack you absolutely need to have those, well you don't quote, need them, but it helps a lot, if your really bad at keeping track of your character, then go into training mode and run around, test how well you can tell where you are, if it helps, theres footsteps sounds, witch do pan so that helps. Although some footsteps are harder to here if there's a lot of characters. That's why I never do 8 players, one because it's insanity, and 2 because I usually just murder everyone, cause noone knows what there doing, and 3 cause i have no friends sadface.

Hi.@flameAlchemist, as previously stated, it will include every character that's been in every Smash Bros. title (the original, Melee, Brawl, and Wii U/3DS). There's a reason why the phrase "Everyone Is Here" was present in coverage of the game and in the trailer, after all. XDAs for the game itself, I'm really excited to try the game out. I hear some people got the game early, and there's already a bunch of leaks out there, even the ROM itself is out there!That being said, the character I'm more concerned for is Piranha Plant. I mean, a lone plant? What's next, a Goomba? A Koopa Troopa? Oh well, we'll see how that character plays. Other than that, I'm still excited for the future of this game.

i played sm4sh somewhat competitively, meaning i was deep in the mechanics of the game, I wasn't graite, but I can still have a decent match, but my only issue is keeping track of where i'm at at all times offstage, cause my only option is to land on the stage, so i can't grab the ledge or anything cause i can't see where it is. The menus were easy as hell what are you talking about post 1? At least, the nessisary things were right there, although the menus were a bit, meh? in sm4sh. But, I can't wait to play this game! Marth, zero suit, falcon, and wolf for the win! maybe even snake!

In regards to World of Light, from what I've gathered, it isn't completely free-roaming, and you are limited to certain paths that go in specific directions. I personally hope that Seeing AI will help with the Spirit Board, as that seems like a very fun addition.
