@ns-studios, I find your post (post 56) highly illogical and stupid. Ultra Power shouldn't even be around any more. It's dead, alright? You don't have to come in, guns blazing, and yell at the dev of UP to change his sounds ASAP. You can't do much about it, anyways. UP is non-commertial, so you can't sue roelvdwal or the developer of this version of the game for anything, since He's gaining nothing from it. As for the rest of you, can you guys please delete this topic and all other topics related to UP? It's caused too much drama, and I feel it is time to wipe it from the forum completely.

Ok, ok, It's time to stop the drama.I respect the opinions of everyone on this forum. I understand why Sam, Ivan and Ethin want UP to die; it's been a source of non-stop drama among the community. However, I think roelvdwal is doing a good job of trying to separate UP from all the drama it's caused.@roelvdwal, you obviously know what you're doing. If you want to make UP better, go ahead. However, I'd change the name if I were you. Also, I wouldn't let the game's source code go willy-nilly around the net, unless you release it under some sort of license. (If you don't want to do that, at least put somewhere in the code that you don't want random people downloading the code and modifying it without your permition).

On criticview there are added three items: health, damage and defence. On chars without a level, none of these items exist.

yes, but if you have let's say an ultralaser with 100 ammo, or 20 knives, that'll also increase your level. So it's just an indicator how many items someone hass. Now most of the items a high-level player will have are damage and defence and health, but weapons etc also count. Maybe I should change it so only damage/defence/health are counted.Now that I'm almost back home, I haave time to work on the code again. I'm not sure what's wrong with item spawning, have you added maps with the add_map command? if you haven't items won't spawn. Do too the feedback I'll postpown the 3d movement for now and focus on more important stuff like documentation and balancing what we have. The next update will probably feature a kustomisable store from a file and more documentation on new commands.

HiA few things in only one poast... You ready, because here we go...- The criticview server took care of those chars without inventories. Sorry it took so long, but I had to do everything manually, and only have limited time to do so.- UP going 3d seems a very nice idea, but (and this is only my opinion) to my mind the current things that are not working as they should, have to be either removed or fixed before going on to 3d. Those things include:- Charset level: no matter how you input it, no change is made- Server changes: make them rely on a file, not from the code. Odd maybe, but gives way more flexibility to insert own changes than going through the code and maybe forgetting something.- Character logs: in order to give out banns propperly, a first thing a server admin should be able to do is find proof of unacceptable behaviour. Therefor all events including chatted messages and voiceclips should be stored for admins to review them. - Configure another way to reset peoples char passwords. Now basically admins can screw people over by changeing their passwords without them even knowing. I know i'd never do that, but do others who don't know me know that? The client should be the one iniciating a pwd change, in case of a forgotten pwd, the admin should send out the pwd file prompting the server to change it next log on.- As was said before, items should spawn on maps to encourage people to get out and find stuff to get themselves upgraded. As soon as this happens, all inventories on criticview's server will get reset because it would make no sence to find items wich you already have.- Documentation on some server.prefs items: some of them are clear. others not.Client fixes:- Make people stay in the store until they hit escape to get out. Now every time you buy an item, you have to get back in and scroll down to find what you are looking for.- In stead of 20 seconds s
 afety, teleport people onto different map locations as soon as they enter it, provided they do not teleport to their death.- ability to become admin on the fly instead of being admin all the time: this reduces the chat messages of admins by a serious amount of reading since "chief administrator" would disappear.That's all i can think of at the moment. I'm really enjoying this project, and cannot express enough the hope it will get beyond everyone's expectations and be a great source for bloody entertainment to all who connect.

If it's related to the strength of players and that stuff, I'll take care of that in the next update. Should I remove a player's inventory after death? and then make items easier to find and make stuff cheaper?- server updates should work reliable now. Why would having files instead of a change in the code change anything? things like the store would be handy in a file, but do you want things like minimum client version that can connect in a file too?- character logs. Just get them with /log, and you can search on charset and stuff. More filtering would be handy to add later though. I'll also look into storing voiceclips.- Ok, will do. I've never bought much from the store, so that's

HiCharset level was actually ment as /charset level , wich currently doesn't work (at least last time i checked)The only content from the server side concirning changes is the list of changes to the server. This to my mind allows for offline review as well as online one. The store in a file is a good idea though.As for voice clips being stored: if people are not agreeing with being recorded, there's an option wich allows you to disable voice chat. Both with spoken and written word characters could behave badly even so that they'd deserve a ban, in wich case you need all the proof you could get.

Damn, I was the idiot who gave out the source code and now look at this. everyone is gonna have a copy of UP. soon there will be like 30 topics in the New releases and claimin: "O, look guys! I released a new version of UltraPower. Why don't you just go off and delete the source code off your hard drive. I've even deleted it. UltraPower, no more on my machine. when you search for UltraPower, the only thing you will find is emails from this topic and other 3 topics. Hi everyoneFirst off: i didn't even know this game existed before reading this topic, and honestly I don't care much who originally started this etc etc. The most important thing is that someone is trying to get a project going, wich for this small comunity should be something to selebrate and not stump into the ground. As for the server: i've added criticview's server and it ^should^ be up all the time, even after it crashes. For those who connected earlyer on: i've given you all an inventory to work with. Levels are currently all at 0, but i'm guessing that if you join the killing that will change too. Using a leaked source is not always ideal, unless the project became abandoned. As for sounds, if they still are the same as the original, there would at least be issues with Aprone (few of them came out of swamp), Gorthalon (one out of rtr) etc etc etc. Besides, you can only clame ownership of something when it's either copyrighted, or patented and I didn't see anything of that written anywhere, so it will get very hard to prove anything at this point.

I've played Roel's games before, he's definitely a dev who knows what he's doing. Mason and Sam have done a nicely coded game, that's gone through some phases of bugginess, but try to give Roel a chance, before this he had nothing to do with ultrapower development.

Hi,I've just released client version 11.12 and server version 13.04. This fixes server updating, so anyone running version 13.02 of the server or lower will have to manually update to 13.04.The client update should be automatic. Client version 11.12 can only connect to server version 13.04 and older client versions can only connect to server versions 13.03 and earlier.

Hello, The new encryption is still a bit bugged so the server is still giving runtime errors often. Sorry about that.@post 11:I am not saying that ultrapower is mine, read post 1.Also, you can be assured that ultrapower is secure. If you don't trust me, go ahead and look at the code. The only thing you will have to trust me on is that the encryption key is long, and it most certainly is. I generated it with a random generator, and it's very, very long, I even put it into it's own include which is not given with the source.I'm still wundering, what is Ultrapower? specifically, What gives ultrapower such a bad reputation, and how do I break away from it? do I simply rename the game? Why do so many people want it to die off?Also, I just don't have the time/don't want to start from scratch. I have a 2 weak break that gives me the chance to work on something, and this genre of game is just not worthwhile coding from scratch, 
 in my opinion.

Nods, I feel like it's just the expected drama that people think of when you say, "ultrapower".And nods, I can't create a character on your server.Also, you might want to modify the server so it has an option to automatically join the list if it's up for, say, more than an hour or 2. That way, people can add their servers to a list automatically instead of having you manually do it.

Hello,Since ultrapower's source code was leaked I decided that I might as well try to clean up the code and make the game more secure.I introduced the following:- A server list is back.- everyone now has an unique encryption key for each session. This prevents snooping. The generic encryption key was updated too, with a very strong one. It's longer than 100 characters.Player's passwords are now hashed. This basically allows the server to compare if 2 passwords are equal, but its impossible to know what the password is, even with the source code. Previously you could easily decrypt all passwords with the source code, making the leaks even more dangerous. There’s also a completely new website for the game. After this release i plan to improve the balancing of the game, especially the level differences, as well as some sound improvements.If you are interested and want to try the game, check it out at http://roelvdwal.ddns.netNote: there might still be some bugs because of the changed encryption. The rank system was also reintroduced a while ago and certain commands might not work. Please report these issues so they can be fixed.

So, I want to point out that this following post will probably appear very harsh to some people. I'm saying this after I've taken a deep breath, after writing. Though I doubt much is left, that code is a very, very, very, like 0.03 early, version of survive the wild. It's been messed up and screwed over so bad now it's not the same so I feel safe there, and i'm not saying my encryption is like that, lol. But anyway, can't this game just... Die?
  Plase? If you are trying to fix the hole thing in the passed by making the game your own... Can't you just make a game from scratch if that's what you want? I will never ever, feel secure on that game. You guys seriously hold onto that game like a freeking lifeline. Can't you let it go? I mean, seriously? I think every version, every copy, every bit of source should be deleted and we should start over with some other game. Hell, maybe i'll make a shooting fps or something, because there fun and people like those kinds of games. But I was one of the people who have gotten kicked out of the dev team, and I did a lot of that work, a lot of the lag improvements... That was back when I thought this game had a chance. Like, back before 2.0. Then, mason kicked me from the project like so many others. I wish I had never worked on it or even heard of it, it's just going to be an incriminating piece of code for who ever has it. Just, copy the sounds, 
 and code something completely different if you need some memory, but I think it's time this game just goes away. Theres many coders who could make a game like that, Like I said I might do it. But I almost got my self sucked into this mess when ivan took it from mason, and hell I might be doing that again. But I know mason and possibly even colton agree at this point, it needs to have never existed. Seriously guys, look at the big picture. Sence when has it been, oh, sence the source code of this offle game has been leaked, it's now my game. I mean, how many versions and UP servers are currently running? Ivans? Yours? Others? The more I read about this the dummer I feel for ever letting mason use my sourcecode from stw V 0.03. HiSo, I agree with Sam Tupy. I really shouldn't of gave out the source to Vlad. He gave it to this guy and look at it now! Dude, can't you just make it die already? Please! just for all of us, kill UP completely. I killed it myself and I started working on a new game. I'm not gonna tell you guys what it is, I'll just leave it at that. Hell, it all started because of Colton being so mad at mason and I asked him for UP's source code and he gave it to me, just like that. I realized that yeah, people might not want it, but still, at the time I really wanted to release this because I myself don't agree with what Mason's doing. Please tell me why you consider me being immature just by taking this sourcecode and using it. I realize ultrapower doesn't have a good name, but that's, from what I can gather ,mainly of all the drama. If you believe I played a wrong part in that drama, then I understand where you're coming from. But I don't get why you are comparing me to other people who have previously worked on this project.Regarding the source, here is a link:http://roelvdwal.ddns.net/up dev team (1) - modified.zipI've also just released version 11.1 of the client, fixing some bugs and readding weapon switching with the number row.I also accidentally didn't update the server's update mechanism properly, so you'll have to download version 13.02 of the server manually which fixes runtime errors.

By posting posts of, "Let this game die", as you've done on the previous UP topic and the one before and the one before that, you are doing little more for the people reading it then adding extra headings to the page. You've already asked that question and look what that turned into on the old topic. Unfortunately, there's nothing that can really be done, except by Roel himself. So rather than repeating the question of "Can this game just die?", due to it having been asked 3 or 4 times prior to today, skip over the title.
