Re: What Gives, YouTube

I made a new channel, and I made damn sure I violated no copyright laws with my name this time. I looked up the name on Google, Duckduckgo, and YouTube, just to make absolutely sure I wasn't taking anyone else's name. Nevertheless, my channel got suspended again. Fine Google, you win. Sorry guys, looks like I won't be making YouTube videos anymore because Google has something against me.

Re: What Gives, YouTube

Hi.I like youtube for the content but hate it because of this whole, oh you must sign up with google to have an account thing.I don't want a GMail account just to have a youtube one. I already have an email account from live, i think it used to be hotmail, and don't need another one.Oh and adds every 5 minutes? No thanks. I use an addblocker, sadly it sets the youtuers back a bit with cash but an add every 3 to 5 minutes is just horrible.I have the youtube app on my IOS device and have to put up with them on there because there's no way of blocking adds.If people moved over to another platform where I didn't need a GMail account to subscribe, I'd think about going there but for now as much as i'm not a huge fan of youtube, I'm going to have to keep using it.

Re: What Gives, YouTube

As it turns out, all 3 of the names I tried to come up with were taken. I didn't know this, because Google didn't tell me. All they did was ban me and told me I violated their TOS. How was I supposed to know that I was taking a name someone else was using? I'd like to point out that I posted about this on Facebook. Someone actually called me out by telling me that I should have Googled the names I chose before picking them, or in their words, I should have "Done my due diligence because it was in the terms of service I agreed to". Before anyone here on the forum does that, allow me to make a couple points:1: A lot of services, including GMail which is owned by the same company that made YouTube, inform you that a name is taken if you try to make an account. They don't allow you to create the account, then ban you a few hours later. Why is YouTube any different? If their algorithms are so amazing as they claim they are, then why can't they put me on hold so to speak while they search their database, then allow me to have access to or delete my account when they find out whether or not the name is taken. Alternatively, they could just put me in an account name field and tell me to change it without deleting my account. In the meantime, they can disallow me from posting videos or getting subscribers or even the link to my channel while they're searching their database. Anything is better than suspending me, creating a record for me in their people to look out for list, and making me look like the villain in the story. After all, God forbid I try to come up with anything that's funny or creative in my eyes, right?2: For those of you who would tell me that I should have Googled my future channel name to see if anyone else was using it, can you seriously tell me that you came up with your channel name, then thought, "Oh, I should go look up this channel name on Google."? If you did, good for you, have a cookie. Most people like myself wouldn't think to do this, because once again, most of us expect Google to tell us that a name is taken instead of allowing us to make our accounts and banning us a few hours later.I'm really not trying to harm anyone. All I'm trying to do is make a channel where I can play games and share my enjoyment/laughter with the community, as well as take their suggestions on the ways that I can improve my content. Is that really too much to ask for?

Re: What Gives, YouTube

@31 It's not all that personal, and not even a matter of pc. Chances are it wasn't unique enough to the point where it triggered seo buzzwords. It's not all that out there. A Youtube channel has become something of a company nowadays if you're commercially successful, so you really do have to think outside the box for a channel title if you aren't using just your name. Not to say that the onus is entirely on you for bringing the channel down, it still could have asily been a mistake.

@17, I don't think he was literally saying not to name a channel that. Even if he were, I highly doubt one random forum post would sway the decision of the person who's creating the channel. I took it as more of a friendly bit of advice. Extra dark gaming does not sound like something I'd want to watch in the slightest. It sounds either vaguely racist, or like a really stupid ad for fried chicken. Just my opinion, but really, with all the content people are creating these days, you've gotta stand out from the pack. The first, and one of the most effective, ways to do that is to come up with a name that people will remember. Maybe it's just me and one other person who would cringe at a title like that, but hey, different strokes, I guess.

A month aggo, i uploaded a video where i was first pretending to belive a phone scammer and then directly confronted hiim with all his lies. I uploaded the video and watched it, from another account, on my phone and everything was good. Now a few weeks aggo, i saw that the video was completely gone. I was wondering about this and tried to see if i was striked or something. But nothing like that. The video was just gone like it never ever existed. I didn't get an email or any thing in my youtube studio. The second story is about a german youtuber (that sounds like i am writing a story rofllmao), that informed about a english youtuber faking videos of rescuing cats. I don't want to go indept here, but think about, how do you fake videos where you rescue cats? For all the germans here goes the linkhttps://youtube.com/watch?v=tR1KcnOKKHEAnd now guess who got suspended and striked for that? I will let you guess.

IMO, kids watching him and thinking he's cool is worse than personalized ads on cartoons and shit. And of course, even if you say a video isn't made for kids, if you have something that might relate to kids in the background, like a mario poster, you ogtta deal with the stupid goddamn flawed system again because it keeps disputing you. It'd be better if the FCC just fucked off and people did their jobs. Why would anyone trust the FCC after the net neutrality skandile? Re: What Gives, YouTube

Huh, I keep seeing someone muttering commies, but this is literally a capitalism gone horribly wrong problem. And someone already peeped out how this happened. google virtually has no competition at this moment for their online video content creation field. All other competition is still fledgling and fighting an uphill battle against the fat slob upon the throne. No competition lasted against google here, Google got on the top and has a hostage user base who have tried going off to other places, and those places not being as good. This stuff happens unfortunately when the system doesn't regulate a situation like this, nor competition in the field is adept enough to survive. It literally is a crappy situation for others wanting to start something up to kick Google in the face, the users who have to deal with shit rules and decision, and for content creators who have to find work arounds to make a living.    Personally, between Youtube, Stadia, google +  and a bunch of other horrific ideas, I'm really doubting the philosophy and competency of that company. Luckily, it hasn't hit monopoly territory yet, and there's new players on the field ready to give Google a run for its money, and this is good. This is things naturally trying to adjust to normal, and people just having enough with a lone company making the rules and being lame.

Really? That's where their priorities are at? A kid watches lots of spiderman shit, you get ads related to that? Oh no Muh privacy Honestly if I had it my way the FCC would fuck off and let me handle what my kids see and don't see so other people don't get thrown under a bus because a lot of parents in America have this wishywashy ass, fucking attitude about everything and aren't proactive in guiding their kids (guiding is a key word here), but will act like SJWs online and throw adults under the bus for having different viewpoints than them. YouTube isn't fucking syndicated television anyway. Keep your fucking kids off of it if you're worried about them seeing something objectionable, the whole thing is ran by bots anyway, and shit DOES slip through the cracks. But nooope, technology is a babysitter now and advertisers are worried about backlash from really a small group of fat ass, self-hating peanut brains, and big brother is now the parent. God damn it all, man. And to be honest, I'm more liberal with what I'd let my kids see, people overworry about protecting kids nowadays, and I'm not talking about toddlers, i'm talking about tweens and teenagers that have a life outside of the home, who really in some cases are more intelligent than adults give them credit for, because they haven't gotten a chance to be brainwashed and told to shut up and just take it by society at large.

Username squadding might also be a problem if channels are getting suspended after channel names are even chosen. Though unlikely since terms of service disallows it, but companies aren't really trying to keep up, as such you do really have to go outrageously out of this world for a username in some places nowadays.

Re: What Gives, YouTube

Just a little something for all of us to enjoy.https://www.AVideo.comThat is something so cool.! For those of us who have VPS servers, you can make your own video sharing platform, and stream on it with OBS Classic or Studio, if you wanted.Yes I know there is Lbry and Twitch, and plenty of others, but just thought I'd put this out there, for those who may be interested.Have a day/evening/night, whereever you are.

Youtube has generally gone to shit recently. Like that whole coppa thing and all the censoring rules they have reinforced are pretty insane IMO

Re: What Gives, YouTube

@7: building a Youtube takes a lot of work. That's why they have no meaningful competition (and are therefore getting close to monopoly and anticompetitive territory. Google runs Youtube at a loss, because they just have that much money and already have enough infrastructure they own. Literally no one short of Gates, Besos, or Musk can compete with that, and that's because they dominate other niches, if less totally.)You know what's weird? Lots of educational Youtubers are moving to Nebula, mention Nebula in all their videos, talk about how signing up for Curiosity stream gets you a free Nebula subscription... and none of them actually include a link to Nebula anywhere. Curiosity Stream might, but I'm on Suddenlink and they apparently have a deal for Suddenlink customers, which means I don't have to buy the CS subscription, which means I don't get the Nebula subscription, and I have no idea what even the URL to Nebula is. .com? .io? .tv? Nebu.la? .net? n.eb/ula? Someone just link to the site in a video description already!)

Re: What Gives, YouTube

@Chris: Not just political views, far from it. It's the broken i p-motivated algorhythm that is weaving its way to the entirety of web2.0. Not much you can do except embrace the #indieweb. Lbry is gaining ground, but outside the not-so-mainstream Indieweb, even Twitch haven't been hardasses on sensorship nearly as much as Youtube, and is supposed to have some good accessibility happenings on the wire.

Re: What Gives, YouTube

YouTube is run by a bunch of Communists. They have decided it's okay to take down anything they don't like and claim it's "hate speech", it violates their community guidelines even though it really doesn't, it "hurts their feelings", or whatever else they want to call it. As soon as you start arbitrarily managing content on a site that was supposed to accept user submissions, you become a publisher. They're using their algorithms to suppress things they don't like and promote propaganda they like. Let's see how long YouTube lasts. I wish these tech companies would stop forcing their political views on us. Sell your products, provide your services, and shut up when it comes to your political views. We don't care!

What Gives, YouTube

I've been doing YouTube streams on my personal channel for a few weeks now. I wanted to make a channel dedicated to just gaming that would be easy to find. I decided to go for the name "whoturnedoutthelights." I thought it was a clever name given my lack of vision, but my brand account got suspended. I submitted an appeal, but after that I searched for the channel name on YouTube to find out that someone had this motif already. After that, I searched for extradarkgaming to see if that name was taken, and fortunately it was not, so I made a new channel. However, a day after making it, that account got suspended as well. Now I'm sitting here metaphorically scratching my head as I wonder WTF got into Googles cereal this morning to make them want to ban someone who didn't do a single thing wrong. Do you guys have any ideas what happened, or a WTF Google/YouTube story of your own?
