Oh fuck, I got that whole dog thing. Around the age 8 to like 12 I was a total ass to my dog, boarderline abuse ... I grew out of it and we became best buddies, but he died before I felt I could really make it up to him and it's a pain that still hurts me on a daily bases.

Re: What do You Regret Not Doing

Greetings all.I truly regret how I was as a youth and I was, am and always will be absolutely responsible for my actions. First, let's start out with what I did before finishing with what I did not do. I was at daycare from 1988 through the middle of 1989 so from age 3 up to age 5. Instead of being nice to the others, I was a bully and I enjoyed biting, scratching and pushing people. They tried to correct me by smacking my hand but I kept getting worse. Indeed I suffered but I was willing to go through hell if it meant that I could take as many people as I could with me. Now you may be thinking he's just exaggerating; I assure you I am not. People have a nasty habit of telling me that I was too young to be so fixated on destruction but I say age has nothing to do with it. Another thing I did when I was 6 through 11 years old was to bully animals. I deliberately hit and kicked the dogs and even trapped the big dog's neck between the doorframe and door. Yes I knew the dog was there and I did it anyway. I couldn't be satisfied with animals either; I bullied people throughout my schooling both junior and high school. I even resorted to theft and stole the robots CD my IT teacher gave me and I say I stole it because I didn't return it when I should have done. During college, I wouldn't take no for an answer and tried to get my support worker to date me knowing that she wasn't allowed to do so. The one thing I didn't do was to call for help when someone was being beaten up at another college in 2010. I did try professional counselling and even going to confession with a priest but nothing worked. I didn't truly start to improve until April 2017 when I became an absolute pacifist and subscribed to the ideology/philosophy as given in the testament of truth.Kind regards, Amin Abdullah.

At this point it is my hope that people don't see you as a monster, considering how you apologized to me. In turn, hopefully people won't voice anger or harsh criticism over my regret, as we've already talked about it.

Re: What do You Regret Not Doing

Nevertheless, you made this thread for people to talk about the things they regret most, and I treated that confidence shabbily by reacting harshly at first. That's why I'm sorry, and I'm glad you accept the apology because it's genuinely intended. I will be far gentler, particularly within this thread, from now on, regardless of my first impression. After all, there are many who would probably read what I did and think me pretty freaking monstrous, and what can I say to that?

@#11 Had you referred to me as being passive you would be correct. I am generally a passive person and try to keep my patience as best I can. Sometimes I am a little too patient or in this case, a little too passive, because I allowed an atrocity to be committed without consequence, and for that I except your apology because I fully understand where you were coming from.

Re: What do You Regret Not Doing

I did so before posting. I was careful with this one.I did not state that the OP is a passive person, merely that I am not. This type of behaviour is outside of my experience. That doesn't make it wrong for this reason, it simply meant that when I saw it, and saw the result it had, I reacted emotionally before anything else. The OP apparently accepted my apology (he said so in another topic), so there's that, at least.Nevertheless, I take this as a fair point. I am not perfect. I will slip now and again.I do want to point out one thing though.Just because I call others out for bad behaviour does not mean that I should be held to an even higher standard. I was not speaking either in my capacity as an SSW nor in my capacity as an admin when I reacted this way. I still did myself poorly, and that's why I apologized, but I am human, and allowed to have bad reactions to stuff. Likewise, if you find said reactions objectionable, you're well within your right to call me on it. You did, and I thank you for it.

Re: What do You Regret Not Doing

@OP Wow, I can't believe you did that. I mean I can see being shocked or stunned, but that should wear off in short order. Oomph.Mine is that I didn't come forward after I started a fire in my school's bathroom that very nearly became a blaze. I used to be in all VI classes in elementary school, and the teachers and my parents agreed that I wasn't ready to go off to middle school where they wanted to mainstream me out, so they made me repeat fifth grade. I was highly displeased with this. For one thing, it meant that I wouldn't be moving on with my friends. For another, I didn't much care for the teacher that stepped in to take a dual role with the VI kids. So, basically, there were enough of us that they needed two teachers. Now, I'd been stealing matches and sneaking them into the bathroom. I'd light one, let it burn down, then chuck it in the toilet and flush it. Then I brought a knife to school and scratched up the stall walls in the bathroom. I would come back and always tell the teachers that it smelt like burning in there and they'd go investigate. One day though, I actually set the fire in the trash can. When it had caught good and proper, I left. I didn't keep my mouth shut though and was happy about what I'd done. When they put the fire out, they discovered that the flames had almost been burning high enough to catch the paper towel dispenser.I had someone help me dispose of the extra two matches that I had left, but they found the pack in the storm drain we threw it down. I later found out that the guy ratted me out.In the end, they gave me 5 days of in school suspension for possession and couldn't prove that I actually started the fire. They wanted to do worse, but my dad went in there and yelled and screamed at them.See, this is where it gets bad. Starting a fire that could have killed people was bad, hiding the evidence was also bad, but not coming forward when I had plenty of opportunities was the worst. I didn't understand what it meant to lose the trust of my parents or what it meant to have that trust. See, my dad went to bat for me in a major way, and I smugly went on with my life and didn't say a word. When I was much older, I told him because at that point, he couldn't do anything to me over it. He always wanted to know if it was me who had started the fire. That record followed me when I went to the high school in the same district - middle school was in a different district for me.Now, for anyone of the right age to really absorb the lesson here, all I can say is that honesty will serve you much better. You don't want to lose your parents' trust, because they're your allies against the world until you become of an age where you can fight for yourself. And if you don't feel comfortable with your parents, because of how they treat you, you can get help from other sources. You can't expect people to believe you though if you lie and prove to them you can't be trusted.

Re: What do You Regret Not Doing

On the flipside of that though, I had never been put into that situation before and I had no idea what was going to happen if I came in and said something.  Thinking back on it, I think I remember them saying “can you confirm us your card number“ hinting at the fact that they already had information on her and just wanted to confirm it. Maybe if I had said something, they could’ve already done something to her. Ignoring that fact, they had her phone number, so they could’ve harassed her more.  After the event though, I did the one thing I did know how to do, I called the police and gave them as much information as I had, and the only piece of information I had what’s the last four digits of her card. Still, I thought they could trace that to her phone number. Big surprise, they did nothing.

Re: What do You Regret Not Doing

Let me get this straight. You just sat there, claiming you were speechless with shock, and let people scam an innocent out of probably thousands of dollars?Wow, bro. That's...wow.I mean, if you didn't know what was going on and walked in at the end and said nothing, that's one thing. But you were already talking to them, you already knew what was going on, and had called them deliberately to piss them off. And you still just sat there? I have no words beyond what I've already said.My biggest regret though, is actually pretty ugly in and of itself.Put simply: I lived in Alaska for about a year and a half, and came back in October 2012. I then started school in 2013, but quickly began to struggle. I finished a few classes, but by the summer of 2015 I'd failed out completely, after trying to switch programs and whatnot. I was a pretty big hermit back in those days. I had a long-distance partnership with a woman I deeply cared about, and that was cool and all, but I didn't have a ton of friends and didn't use social media much. I slept a lot, gamed a lot, wasted a ton of time. Whenever talk of school came up, with anyone, I made it sound like, although I was struggling, I was still managing.I lied about it for over a year, only finally coming clean in the summer of 2016. Needless to say my partner left me pretty much straightaway, and I didn't blame her then and don't blame her now. It wasn't only her I was hiding from; it was everyone. I'd come back with such big dreams that admitting failure, admitting I didn't actually like my course of study at all anymore, seemed too big. So I just didn't face it.Definitely worst choice of my life, and it was a long-standing, ongoing thing. Once I hit a certain point, telling the truth looked like an impossible feat.Needless to say that's not a pattern I'm ever going to get back into. And I still feel shame at what I did, even if there's no real bad blood anymore and even if I'm going through school fairly successfully now and all that. My current partne rknows exactly what happened and all that, so now I tend to overshare instead of the other way round. So yeah. That's mine.

What do You Regret Not Doing

2019-09-22 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Dan_Gero via Audiogames-reflector

What do You Regret Not Doing

I will start with an example 1st. Back when I was making scammer videos regularly, I called that scammer company that me and Ethin were talking to, Premium Technical Support. Initially I had called to harass them like I always do, but then they muted my audio. A couple minutes later, I heard someone join the call, followed by a ringing sound. The scammers had merged somebody into the call, their would-be next victim. I watched as they scammed this poor old woman into giving them her credit card information, and I did nothing but sit there in total shock while they were doing it. I could have jumped in at any time and let her know that it was a scam, but I was so taken aback that I was pretty much speechless and couldn’t find the words to say, so I remained silent. To me, Sitting there on the phone with somebody who’s about to get scammed is equivalent to standing there watching somebody have a gun pointed at their head.  You don’t want to say the wrong thing, because then you don’t know what’s going to happen. The effects are similar too, except for the fact that pointing a gun at someone’s head and pulling the trigger will take their life immediately. Taking every last cent from their bank account can still kill you, but it’s a lot slower. What happens when you’re kicked out of your home, and you can’t afford to pay for groceries anymore? You go out and live on the streets. You have the possibility of stealing things, which then gives you the higher possibility of winding up in jail. If you choose not to steal things, then you could die of starvation. Ignoring that fact, there are people who like to hurt others on the streets, so another person may come along and kill you. Either way, homelessness is generally not a good position to be in, and I possibly subjected that woman to just that by not stepping in to help. There’s my regret. How about the rest of you guys?
